Awsome!
Pros: Easy to use... Amazing picture quality, 480x640 video resolution, fast speeds, more features then I really know what to do with, ccd with 15x zoom is awsome.
Cons: No TTF format, small lcd screen.
Other Thoughts: Newegg Rocks!

Cannon Camera / Pls don't use Sony in same Context
Pros: I just want to say that Cannon may have made some sorry printers in the day, but their digital cameras are the shizzATTT.
Cons: Not sure. Idont own this one yet. Nor have i spent more that 180 on a camera. I always get 1-2 years use at least under EXTREME abuse situations with Cannon. For instance, i have a 3 year old power shot i was using in the field today. The lens wanted to stop moving in and out. I simply beat the hell out of it, and it started working again. I know it wont be long now, but i have banged this camera about 100 times more that the manufaturer suggest as acceptable. Tough product!!
Other Thoughts: That IDIOT that said that he preferred a sony. I think his name was N/A. Well that about says it all!!! EVERYONE who knows cameras knows that Sony digital still cameras SUCK!!!. The WORST photos i have ever dreamed....... So please take that propaganda somewhere else. Perhaps back to you marketing dept. I am very admte about this as i have spent money on a few sony cameras, and, not only do they NOT HOLD A CANDLE to Cannon, they shoot the worst photos you have ever seen. Go away with that cr@p. Japanese products are the BEST. But not Sony Cameras.. Sorry for the fact.

Rather disappointed in this camera
Pros: Takes good pictures as long as there is very high light. I like the continous burst, rather than the 3 picture burst on other cameras I've owned.
Cons: First, no date stamp. When I wrote Canon about it, their response was I could use software to add the date. Not what I wanted to do. Second, unless it is very high light, the pictures come out grainy. I have experimented with the settings, and do not find anything that I like.
Other Thoughts: More than likely, this is the last Canon I will buy. Will go back to Kodak.

Amazing Camera
Pros: Takes amazing shots, better than my brother's Digital Rebel IMO. Tons of features for this camera like selecting only one color to show up in a picture or replacing a color with a different one, my nephews had fun seeing themselves as green or blue. Super macro feature is amazing for really close up shots and high detail. Many white balance modes to make sure your light looks white and not orange or some other funky color. Small and portable with high performance. Has the functionality for total customization or perfect for point and shoot as well. The fact it takes 4 AA batteries instead of a rechargeable one is awesome, i was kind of bummed at first but when i got it and started using a lot i was glad i could switch batteries without having to buy another expensive one.
Cons: None, well maybe the view finder is digital screen which is good for the extra stuff you can display, but the image is kinda tweaked in the frame. Not really a big deal to me since i mainly use the LCD screen on the back but might be an issue for others.
Other Thoughts: I bough this because it was a very nice camera that was SLR but takes amazing pictures and has a high zoom. I didn't want an SLR one for the price and two for the weight and size. This thing packs a powerful punch and is perfect for amateur photographers like myself. I have 2 sets of rechargeable batteries for this thing and haven't had a complaint yet.

Pros: 12x zoom, the flippy lcd mounting is fun and useful. Fun little videos.
Cons: A year and a day, just out of warranty and the zoom started making a grinding noise and not working, like a stripped gear. It hasn't been mistreated or stressed. Also, the battery life is erratic as is the time between shots even with fresh batteries, the same settings and the same SD card. The LCD is dim, on a recent trip I used a number of cameras, all point and shoots, taking pics for others with their camera and this one was the dimmest lcd with the least detail even on the brighter of its two settings. I would guess 40% of the brightness of other cameras. In some darker situation (evening or indoors) I learned to just settle for spotting the position of a bright object on the lcd and estimating what would be in the picture. At home, on the computer, the pics are great.
Other Thoughts: I moved from a 35mm slr and I considered a telephoto my basic lens and this sort of meets that need but it's broken and I haven't used it that much, maybe 20 times. It feels like I bought a Taiwan-made tool at a USA price.

Great starter camera
Pros: I love the built-in optical zoom and super macro mode. The camera has a nice heft like an SLR without being huge. Movable LCD screen works great for shooting from odd angles. Lots of shooting information available on screen, including a histogram. Surprising video quality with stereo sound (creates huge files). With good batteries, this thing takes hundreds of pictures.
Cons: Like everyone says, lens cap is lame. Manual focus has never been great, but that may be my own fault. LCD screen in open mode does not secure well to camera body (only a minor annoyance).
Other Thoughts: This is a great in-between camera. It has enough SLR-like features that I've been able to learn a bit, take great photos, and decide whether or not I'll be interested in investing in a DSLR in a year or two (almost certainly).

Very capable camera
Pros: Image stabilization is really what makes this camera. It is easy to use. Shoots movies that look very good. Shoots photos that look great. Long zoom is nice.
Cons: The viewfinder is why I did not give this camera five stars. Hard to see in bright light.
Other Thoughts: If you have only one camera this is the one to have. Very fun to use. Lots of buttons, but after you learn them it becomes easy and natural.

NICE...But...
Pros: Went to a Local Camera Shop and this was there. Very Nice, with good features...but....
Cons: Too Pricey for just a 6.0 MP Camera....All the features it has is most likely the reason, but still doesn't change the fact that it is 6.0 MP and can get a 6.0 alot cheaper with close too the same features.

easy to use, high quality shots
Pros: This camera takes absolutely fantastic shots with the "auto" mode if you just want to point-and-shoot. The Image Stabilization is wonderful - it really helps me out, as I have pretty unsteady hands.
Cons: The instruction manual is a little bit difficult to deal with. It takes a while to find specific things, such as manual focus, or how to set it on macro mode for extreme closeups. This might be my fault more than the manual.
Other Thoughts: I have owned and used a few other brands of cameras that were purchased in a similar price range, but this one is far and away the best digital camera I've used. It's gotten me excited about taking pictures again.

Very Impressed
Pros: Good price for a great camera. Canon is an outstanding name in cameras anyway, and research led me to believe this was top in its class. They were right. It goes to show megapixels aren't everything when several in the range of 10 have nothing on this one at 6. It's about the best an amateur could hope for right now.
Cons: None as yet for my own needs. It's not a "pocket" camera but I didn't buy it for tourism.
Other Thoughts: Even if you don't get any extra lenses it has good range and takes closeups very well even without changing any settings. Learn the camera and it's even better.

Pros: neweggs fast and responsive rma center is for the win. the camera is excellent and the photos it takes are most of the time pretty amazing.
Cons: i cant really say anything negative about the camera itself
Other Thoughts: i had to rma the first one i got because there were a couple dead pixels that would show up in photos, the second one i got was dead completely, probably from shipping.

99% Satisfied
Pros: Zoom! I love the x12 optical. Adds a lot of options when you're feeling artsy. Excellent battery life, and the ergonomics of the camera feel great when holding it. Comes with a pretty good Oh-Cr@p-Strap to keep that thing from falling. The camera and it's shooting modes are highly configurable, way more than an entry-level photographer would ever know what to do with. This camera can take beautiful, high FPS movies as well. Also has a time-lapse feature that is fun to play with and when it does time-lapse, it powers on and off so you keep it going for a good length of time before your batteries die. I keep hearing about this lens cap being too loose... I'd rather have it loose than have my cameras gears grind to a halt when I accidentally turn on the camera with the cap on.
Cons: 6MP is a bit low for all this camera can do. I've noticed the high noise on higher ISO settings too. It doesn't do too well in low light either.
Other Thoughts: Overall this is a great step up for me. I was hoping for better pictures from my old 3MP powershot to this one. But I still like the look and feel of this camera and the x12 zoom is awesome.

Great features
Pros: Great features for those who can't afford SLR or don't want the complex options of SLR. IS is a great feature for a camera in this range and the 12x zoom is handy. Camera is replacing my Canon S50 which has held up over the years.
Cons: Lens cap does come off easily, would have been nice if Canon designed a clip in version or sefl closing lens. Higher ISO can be noisy depending on what format you are using.
Other Thoughts: Picture refresh is quick with the use of a high speed card. So if you want to take pictures quickly, get the high speed card. Battery life is average, 2700 batteries are helpful and do a good job for quick shots in medium light.

Pros: Great zoom! Wonderful pictures with lots of detail and clarity! Very happy so far.
Cons: I wish you didn't have to raise the flash manually, I tend to forget and miss that one "great" shot. Also, it's a little bulky and doesn't offer an underwater case.

Excellent Camera
Pros: Great picture and video quality. The mic for the video feature is really sensitive and picks up the slightest sounds. The picture quality is amazing and I was able to capture some of the most precious moments in my life (brother's graduation and family vacation). I am sold on the Canon Powershot S-series. This is truely an amazing camera and does more than i would expect from a digital camera. This camera captures little things that other cameras can't capture like the water flowing off of a killer whale when it jumps out of the water. Newegg has the best service and quality products in the business.
Cons: The battery life is really short and it takes four AA batteries so buy rechargeable batteries. The factory sD card is small but newegg knows this so they offered 1 gb card with it for free.

BEST camera for the price by FAR
Pros: Too much too list. The thing I love about this camera as compared to other brands in this class is the layout of the controls.
Cons: None - except my mother-in-law - she destroys everything she touches and she got a hold of this and scratched the lens with a diamond ring!!!!
Other Thoughts: You can grab this firmly with your right hand (pinky under camera) and have a great grip while using thumb and index finger to run controls and click away.
Add image stabilization and this feels rock solid.

Very Nice Camera
Pros: Lots of options on this camera. Takes great pictures. Video on this camera is amazing...never expected to get such good quality from a camera.
Cons: I don't know how to utilize all the functions that this camera can do.
Other Thoughts: The best camera on the market in comparison. This is a must get camera.

Pros: Nice zoom, good color, good software
Cons: blurry, blurry, blurry. Owned a Sony dcv3 before this one--now that is a camera! We thought all digi cams must shoot that sharp. We hated this camera, simply because we got one sharp pict out of 10. Even at high ISO and with image stabilizer on.

High Quaility Canon
Pros: Ive so far have not seen any bad Canon camera so far that ive not liked even the compact ones. Its got some upgrades from the older S1/S2 IS Cameras ive also owned. The Zoom is very affect even used the digtal and the pictures didn't come out bad. It takes great outdoor picutres and may have to play around with settings for inside to come out really good.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Used a Kingston 2 GB 120x that kicks on this camera for taking fast pictures.

This thing is Awesome!!
Pros: Good Clarity, shutter speed, settings quick to change. Power up time is quick.
Cons: Cap pops off too easily, but thats good for when you turn it on and forget to take the lens cap off...you won't kill the gears.

Excellent
Pros: Digital SLR type features in a point and shoot price range. This is a great mid-range product from a great company.
Cons: Only real recommendation I have would be increased functionality and features for night time use. While not completely lacking in this area there is room for improvement.
Other Thoughts: We have purchased a wide variety of digital camera brands and types and have always been very pleased with Canon. Both in quality of the product and the level of customer service. So far we have never had any "bad" products from their product line, too bad I can't say the same from their competitors.

Great Camera
Pros: I've had this camera for almost 2 years and it has performed excellently. Pictures are great in all modes and environments and the video clips are easier to take and transfer than my Digital Video Camera. I have used the following SD cards with no problems: ADATA 8GB SDHC, Patriot 4GB abd 2GB high speed, Corsair 2GB 133X, numerous 1GB cards. Just format them in the camera before first use and you should have no problems.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Get the Rosewill SDHC reader which is cheap and does a great job for the SDHC cards.

Nice Point & Shoot
Pros: This a great point and shoot camera for the price. DO NOT expect an SLR, it is a POINT & SHOOT. Had to make that clear for some people. Manual mode easy to use.
Cons: No battery indicator. It warns you that battery is low, and gives you about 3 minutes before it dies.
Other Thoughts: Buy a good set of high mAmp rechargeable batteries. Don't be cheap on the batteries either.

Excellent Stuff
Pros: The flip-out LCD that you can fold down to take over-head shots (like at a concert), image quality is incredible if you use the right settings, looks good, easy to hold, endless settings, shoots video with audio...
Cons: It's kind of heavy, and very bulky. You definitely can't put it in your pocket. It runs on 4-AA batteries, so I'd suggest getting rechargeable batteries because this thing kills battery life when shooting video (but why should you be using a camera for video? use a camcorder).
Other Thoughts: 6 MP is more than enough for even a hobbyist. When you start getting upwards towards 8+ MP, that's the kind of quality you'd need for crime scene photos... and I'm sure you don't shoot crime scenes. The camera is very versatile and is well worth the money.

Not what I expected at all
Pros: Packed with features, fast shutter, nice flip-out-over LCD.
Cons: Loose pieces inside the camera, misaligned CCD, chromatic aberration/ excessive fringing, focus problems, mushy buttons, barrel distortion, redeye, plastic tripod mount, 1GB movie limit regardless of memory card size, cheap lens cap that comes off easily.
Other Thoughts: I spent a lot of time searching for the right camera, and the S3 seemed to have it all. I read shining upon shining review, but didn't do a good enough search for specific S3 defects and problems. Big mistake. I'm not a professional photographer, and did not buy the S3 expecting professional quality photos - but these are problems one might expect to encounter with a $99 camera, not a $300+ model, and not from a trusted Canon.

Super Camera
Pros: Wow! I am so impressed with this camera. If you want a digital and like the SLR type of camera, but don't want to spend the money, this one is for you. Have had the camera for about 3 months now, and spent a week at disney world taking hundreds of shots. (thanks new egg for the 1 gig memory card!) I couldn't be more please with both the photo quality and the viseo shooting quality. The pre set shooting optionss like night shot/fireworks/indoor/etc. work like a champ! I would highly recomend this camera to anyone who isn't specificly seeking a pocket sized machine.
Cons: It's taking time to get used to having to lift the flash up... but the picture to picture time is fast enough that you can usually recover and get the shot in time! The 16 mb card that came with is useless, you will definately need a larger one.
Other Thoughts: Best camera I have ever owned. The manual is well written and does a great job of walking you through the settings! LOVE IT

Amazing
Pros: Great clarity, ultra fast zoom (0 to 12x in under a second on full tilt, you can slow down the zooming of course), solid design, great manual options, nice LCD screen, ISO 80 and 100 show no noise whatsoever.
Cons: Cheap, flimsy buttons on the back, ISO 200 and up show noise (anything above 200 is, imo, unuseable), the manual zoom is hard to work with.
Other Thoughts: Amazing camera for $300 (I would have payed $450). Everything about this camera impresses me more and more as I use it. Great buy!

An excellent purchase
Pros: An excellent price, excellent zoom, very fast camera, highly recommended.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I was considering getting an SLR, but with little photography experience I worried it would be over my head, and very expensive. In my opinion this is an excellent, inexpensive way for new photographers to bridge the gap between SLR and point & shoot cameras.

Good value.
Pros: The zoom, image stabilization, plethora of manual settings, documentation. Quality feel to the camera.
Cons: The viewfinder, the lcd, the lense cap, kind of bulky.
Other Thoughts: After researching all over the web I got this camera from newegg. I initially think it's a pretty good value and has excellent features for the price. The image quality is great if you know what you are doing, however most of us will use the auto setting, which fortunately turns out fine pictures. For still shots it does a great job. For things like an airshow or a car/motorcycle race etc. it takes some work to get good shots. The lcd viewfinder is useless in sunlight, although most digital cameras are that way. The optical viewfinder is so so, you need to manually focus it in also and it needs changing for different distances. It is hard to use to shoot moving aircraft for example. The zoom is awesome, and makes the camera. Just plan to spend a bit of time slowly zooming in on the subject as it takes time to stabilize. Moving subjects are really hard to focus on at full zoom, maybe an added lense would help out more there. Overall a good camera!

Pros: This camera is an excellent value. It works great! All the positive reviews before me are accurate and extremely helpful in deciding whether to by this camera.
Cons: The user's manual is appropriately named "Advanced Camera User Guide". It assumes a lot. I'm a digital camera novice, and I'm usually good at figuring out electronic equipment. However I had difficulty figuring out basic functions, even after reading every page of the "User Guide". After throwing aside the guide, I was able to figure out how to take pictures and retreive them from memory after a few hours. Soooo...if you're a novice like me, be prepared to spend some time learning before you use the camera.
Other Thoughts: Don't forget the free memory card that is currently offered with the product for free. The card that comes with the camera has a very small amount of memory which is basically useless. However, the bonus card has a huge amount of memory in comparison(as much as I need and then some)!

Best ultra-zoom DSLR-like camera around
Pros: Excellent control layout, feels natural in hand (I have somewhat large hands), has manual control over everything (including manual white balance, etc), full 12x optical zoom, and the image stabilization really works. I have taken shots at up to 10 second shutter intervals for night photography without flash that were still usable. Autofocus works very well, and the manual focus autobracketing is great. The live histogram is a must-have upgrade over the S2 IS.
Cons: Just nitpicking here: while somewhat snugger than the lens cover on the S2 IS, the cover on the S3 still comes off a little too easily. The tripod mount on the underside is plastic, metal would have been welcome.
Other Thoughts: The included neck strap is actually fairly nice. The 16 MB SD card it comes with is a joke of course, get a 1GB or larger card for it. This camera has been heavily reviewed by various sites such as dpreview.com, which has lots of good info on it. I spent many hours reading and comparing this against similar cameras like the Sony H3 and such. Couldn't be happier with my choice.

Love it
Pros: Easy to use and easy to learn. Takes good photos and great video. Forget the camcorder and just take this with some extra sd cards and you're good to go....
Cons: videos takes up a lot of space up on your cards so take a few extra with you. The sd cards are very very cheap...

great camera for the price
Pros: 12x optical zoom, flip lcd screen, super macro mode, aperture priority, shutter priority mode, program ae, all the manual controls make this a versatile camera.
Cons: Doesn't perform too well in low light, but none of the other cameras this size do. Kinda wish it was a little more than 6 MP... but good enough.
Other Thoughts: I've only had the camera for two weeks and have shot some pretty nice photos with it already. Still working on learning how to use it to its full potential.

Great Camera
Pros: Great quality of the pics, many options, fully customizable options, macro mode, super macro mode, 12x zoom, and tons of features. Newegg is great, I ordered the camera on monday @ 5pm Eastern arrived on wednesday about 2pm, I chose the standard shipping.
Cons: 16 Mb SD card can barely hold anything BUY LARGER 1 Gb min. Trying to take a super macro picture of something 0 cm away can be tricky when trying to avoid touching the lens, but awesome feature nonetheless. I actually had to wait for it to ship, I wish I could have had it instantly ;), (see shipping info in pro's).
Other Thoughts: I would advise anyone who is planning on getting this camera to also purchase the Energizer nimh's with the fifteen minute charger (sold by newegg, ~$7 than the competition), batteries will last about 550+ pics. The fifteen minute charger charges the batteries in about the time it would take me to go to a store and buy batteries that would die after 120 pics. I wish I would have waited a little bit longer, Canon just came out with the S5 IS, 8mp, 2.5" LCD, and other stuff for $xxx, waiting would have lowered the price of this camera about $20-$30. Overall, great camera. Zoom feature is amazing. My dog is camera shy and runs from all cameras, he never knew this camera was taking pics (12X silent zoom), so he let me take a pic of him, amazing quality. I will be buying more sd cards soon because I cannot stop taking pictures.

I love this camera
Pros: The picutre quality is outstanding. Very nice detail with the camera at max optical zoom. The movie recording is nothing I would expect from a camera made to take pictures. Was very impressed with the movies. Very nice upgrade from my 3.2 megapixel Sony Cybershot.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Not impressed with the shipping. The quality for packing the camera for shipping was very low. Looked like some one just threw the camera in a box, threw in one paper bag and was done with it.

An excellent camera - almost perfect.
Pros: Image quality is good, with colors being true to life, fairly crisp. In full light, either sun or indoors, there's no noticeable shutter delay. I appreciate how this model uses common AA cells as opposed to an (expensive) proprietary type as well as eliminates the worry and hassle of a charger. I didn't expect to use the movie mode when I got the camera, but it turns out to be a very nice feature.
Cons: As others have mentioned, autofocus times are slow, especially in lower light conditions. Canon's pack-in SD card is laughably inadequate for this camera.
Other Thoughts: Anyone interested in this camera would be well served to purchase an additional memory card and a set of rechargeable batteries as well.

Amazing Camera!
Pros: Of course the amazing zoom in combination with the image stabilization is pretty cool. I love the full manual mode and the "vivid colors" settings look great. I think I am most impressed, however, with the camera's ability to use add-on lenses and 52mm filters!
Cons: I wish they wouldn't have gotten rid of the remote from the S2.
Other Thoughts: I've noticed other people's comments about using hight ISO, READ THIS: With any camera (Film or Digital) only use a high ISO/film speed if you have too. When you get into big numbers the picture will look grainy. There is no way around this. An EOS 1D Mark II N will do the same thing. One more note, this camera IS infrared sensitive (try taking a picture of the end of your tv remote while holding the power button on it)

I love this thing
Pros: Perhaps a bit much if you've never owned a digital camera before; however, you can always just put it on auto and get great snapshots. Big attraction for me was the 12x optical zoom. I ordered an adapter, UV, polarizer, and rubber lens shade from Lensmate -- some complained that the Canon adapter, being plastic, was a little flimsy. Very happy with the Lensmate stuff. Case reviews for this camera were mixed with many complaining too tight a fit. I took the camera to Wal Mart and found a Case Logic case (ten dollars) that I thought was a perfect (albeit tight) fit with the adapter, filter and rubber lens shade in place; also room for second filter, extra batts, and SD card. I wrap the neck strap around the adapter before sticking it in the case.
Cons: None really
Other Thoughts: The price keeps going down. I paid $315 from Egg. Someone on Ama* was ten dollars cheaper, but should problems arise you can't beat Egg customer service. Egg is by far the cheapest on SD cards, in some cases by 300%.

Simply Awesome
Pros: Excellent camera modes. Sleek black look. Sturdy, feels just right in my meaty paws. Pics come out awesome! I'm always looking forward to fiddling around with it whenever I can.
Cons: As others have stated, the lens cap simply doesn't cut it. I added a very small piece of one-sided foam tape to the inside of the cap lining and now it fits nice and snug.
Other Thoughts: If you're in the market for a non-wussy (read: Thin) camera, and don't have the funds for a SLR, this is the right one for you!

Great Camera
Pros: Amazingly good pictures. Price dropped much after Kodak released cheaper similar cameras but I wanted this one. IS works like a charm, great zoom, haven't put it through it's real paces yet but I love it so far. The software is simply wonderful, the stitch feature is out of this world.
Cons: none that I can think of, the lens cover falls off pretty easily.

Great
Pros: The Super Macro function on this camera because does such a great job with macro shots. Image Stabilizer, 12x Zoom, 15" - 1/3200 Shutter speed just to name a few of the great features on this camera. Overall great camera.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Most people think that the higher the megapixels on a digital camera, the better the picture, but that really isn't true. Megapixels has to do with how much you can enlarge the picture before it becomes pixelated. Picture quality has more to do with how good of a lens the camera has. Being a Canon, this camera has a great lens. So, even though this camera may seem like it has a relatively low MP rating for the price, don't let that fool you, it takes great pictures. I definitely recommend this camera and once again I recommend Newegg.

Very Good Camera
Pros: Very good camera for the price, of course I wanted an SLR but a little more than I wanted to pay right now. The zoom is great, the time between pictures is very low as well. It has been a pleasure to use this camera. Prints are also very good using an Epson RX580.
Cons: As one individual said the manual focus is a bit strange to use, but no big deal overall/
Other Thoughts: Getting the lens adapters for some wide angle and telefoto shooting.

Aviator
Pros: Love the video mode, stereo and high quality absolutely no stutter like on older digital camera video recorders. i would buy another one. A major upgrade from an old HP 2MP camera.
Cons: All that talk about Flimsy 'lens cover', most of you have no idea why its so flimsy. It's because the camera lens cover is designed to popoff if the zoom extends while lens still on so it doesnt kill the lens motor. It's a very good design, although it could be improved upon. But it's not really a hassle since it comes with a cord on the lens.
Other Thoughts: lots of extra options that is more than enough to keep an occasional photographer busy. the small stuff like what older cameras had really adds no negatives for me.

Excellent cam - weak in low light
Pros: - Excellent lens quality - Fantanstic optical zoom - comprehensive feature set - Articulating LCD - Excellent picture quality - Awesome video mode (640x480/30fps) - impressive anti-shake -- this really works, and is crucial when using the zoom...
Cons: - LCD is on the small side, and a bit dim. That along with the absence of an eye cup can make full sun shots challenging - In low light, the result is a fair amount of (digital) noise.
Other Thoughts: Overall, amazing functionality and quality for the price. And, the S3 is compact enough to carry in a jacket pocket, unlike a digital SLR. Recomended: - extra recharbable batteries (althought this camera runs for 400-750 pictures/charge - Buy (2) of the excellent AData SD/USB cards. That way, if you shoot video until the first card is full, you can switch and keep going - and going.... ---------------------- Overall, highly recommended from a Nikon 35mm convert.

Pros: !2 time zoom, image stablization, works with all SD cards availabe.Works well as a point and shoot, but if you take the time and learn what this camera can do,you'll absolutlly love this camera.I have a hard time screwing up a photo. The video recording is also excellent, with stereo recording and zoom control while recording. You can even add voice narration to a photo. Does most everything and does it well!!
Cons: Only con is the video recording is limited to 1gb. but at the highest setting thats about 9 minutes.Which is really quite a while. But on the plus side if you get a larger 4gb sd card, you can just start another 9 min. of movie recording.
Other Thoughts: If your recording video and you all of a sudden see a picture you'd like, just press the shutter button. This camera is just the best of both worlds!!!

Fun Camera, but a bit intimidating for a beginner
Pros: Lots of cool features. Basic functions of the camera are easy for a beginner to learn so you can start taking pictures quickly. Auto mode is awesome.
Cons: The lens cap seems a little cheap, as it doesn't snap onto the lens, but merely slips on and can fall of very easily. The LCD screen is a bit small.
Other Thoughts: I'm a beginner and haven't yet learned the basics of photography and how to take a good quality picture. But Auto mode takes all the guesswork out of snapping a good picture. What really sold me on this camera was what I read in a review that the quantity of pixels doesn't really matter, as long as the camera has quality pixels. And from what I understand, where this camera lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for in quality. I find the Advanced Manual features very confusing because I don't have any prior experience with basic photography. But the good thing about having all these features is that I know I will never run-out of new things to learn. Sofar I love this camera, and the more I learn about this camera's features, the more excited I get about learning photography. To any beginner whose even curious about photography, don't feel you have to go out and buy a beginner's point & shoot camera. In my humble opinion, don't waste money on a cheap point & shoot, buy the S3 IS.

Worthy of all the great reviews
Pros: I was skeptical of all the great reviews on this camera. It was hard to find a bad one anywhere. I purchased the camera even though I was leaning towards a DSLR. I have to say this camera is worthy of all the positive reviews. I won't go into all the details as many others have already done that. I like the compact size of the camera, the video capabilities, the long focal length, battery life, great pictures and all the manual capabilities it has to offer. All the reviews are true. For less than $325.00 this is a great price performer and a very well thought out camera.
Cons: No pop up flash. Somewhat hard to see details in the viewfinder on a bright day. Hunts for focus on long focal lengths. I'm being picky here.
Other Thoughts: For the money I can't imagine a better camera. It is a very fast camera and I find the menu options very intuitive to use. I'm sure another model is on the horizon but it will surely be a lot more expensive. I give this camera a big thumbs up!

Great Camera
Pros: Love It... Keep finding great options on this camera. I'm using 2500mah rechargable NiMh batteries and I'm still on 1st charge, took a bunch of movies and about 300 stills 25% w/flash.Awesome zoom capabilities .Video is very good for a still camera. Bought a Patriot 4 gb card... works Nice! Newegg got it done right.
Cons: Wish the LCD screen was bigger

Amazing camera
Pros: Really good camera. A lot of options that will take me some time to learn, and for which i am exited to.
Picture quiality is really great, flash is way intense and good. Macro focus is amazing, gives really nice offfocus effect to backgrounds. Video recording is amazing, high definition is huge. I believe it has a higher aspect ratio than hd which is amazing. You plug it to your tv and everything is set working perfect
Cons: None that i can think of.
Other Thoughts: I got a great comobo deal, thank you newegg

This camera is good.
Pros: I like that the camera uses SD memory and uses AA batteries as apposed to an expensive proprietary battery. Picture quality is quite acceptable. The features and options are easily accessible.
Cons: I wish the EVF and LCD had a higher resolution. Determining focus, for example, is often difficult until I see the pictures on a computer.
Other Thoughts: I've wanted a dslr for some time, but I settled for this. I'm no longer sure, however, that I would trade the convenience of this camera for the quality of dslr.

Canon S3 IS
Pros: This camera is a great compromise between me getting a DSLR and my wife getting a simple point and shoot. The level of control is good for me and the ease of use is great for her. The form factor is very nice because I don't need a bag of accessories that I would have with a DSLR so it travels well. Image Stabilization does a nice job when zooming to max even when taking action shots.
Cons: There is noise when using 800 ISO. There is no flash hot shoe, although there is an external flash that syncs with the primary flash.
Other Thoughts: I intend to get a lensmate adapter so I can use the filters from my film SLR. For more than half the price of a DSLR (including the lenses) this camera is making us very happy with our selection of the S3 IS.

Canon s3 is
Pros: Lots of features and sticks to the canon standard menus, so its easy to learn if you know your canons. After market lenses make it very versatile, the 12x zoom is nice, I would suggest a lensmate after market adapter for your lenses. The Image Stabilization is spot on, its pretty compact for what it offers, Iso modes are acceptable, manual mode is very effective, movies are easy (I didnt use canon software)Great macro mode (I had to order hoya lenses to get what I needed from it) but I am shooting farther than a standard lens.
Cons: The tele zoom function is a bit touchy, the stock lens cover is garbage, the stock batteries... throw them away. Get some good 2400 nimh series batteries.
Other Thoughts: With a Lensmate adapter this camera can do wonders (if your point and shoot dont bother), do a little research on what you are after, The screen could be a tad larger otherwise, its perfect.

Canon Powershot A640
Pros: My camera before this one was a Powershot A620 I loved it but wanted to get another one so I could pass the A620 onto my mom. The flip screen is what sold me on the A620 and it's also what sold me on the A640. Both the A620 and A640 are great on batteries. I love both of these cameras because of the absolutely great pictures they take. I wanted to stay with a point and shoot model that still has capabilities to tweak with settings. I love that both the A620 and the A640 are compact in size which makes it the perfect camera to carry all the time. The issue of the memory card being in the battery box on the A640 almost kept me from choosing it but it turns out that it's really not that big of issue. I use the cable for the most part now. Another great thing is that I had bought a set of lens for the A620 and they also fit the A640. All and all I am very satisfied! The 10 mp on the A640 over the 7.1 mp on the A620 makes it all the better.
Cons: Would be nice if Canon would give you a larger memory card and a neck strap. I also would have liked it better if they had left the memory card slot where it was easier to get at. Seems like they want you to use their software because that's the only way of getting around having to open the battery box every time you want to upload photos, for me that's sometimes several times a day. But, I have adjusted to using the cable so it's really not a huge con.
Other Thoughts: I'm kind of at the stage where I was considering maybe a Canon Rebel but the size is such a factor to me. I love the A620 and the A640 because they are so compact. I like a point and shoot because I am not really that advanced. I passed the A620 onto my mom, who is almost 80 years old. She loves it for the same reason as I loved it... easy to use... easy to carry... easy to love!

great camera, price keeps getting better
Pros: real nice features, from fully-auto to fully-manual, and several in-betweens. iso 800 is fairly noisy, 400 is modestly acceptable. i like that the shutter speed goes to 15", and the manual focus feature is great. controls are fairly intuitive, and easy to find. flip-around LCD is a great touch. takes 4xAA batts, the rechargeables last reasonably well, although plain old energizers don't really hold up so well. video quality is decent, up to 640x480@30fps, plus manual focus and zoom are available while shooting video.
Cons: since i bought this, the price has dropped almost by eighty bucks. slightly annoying, but i'd still say it's worth it, even at it's original price. i'm pretty happy with this piece.
Other Thoughts: i spent a lot of time researching this product category before deciding on this camera, and i've got no regrets. there's nothing else in this price-class that comes close to offering the range of features this one does. next step up requires about another 150-200 bucks, i'd say this camera is the best in its range.

Very Nice for the Price
Pros: Simple enough to point and shoot, yet enough features to play on your own with. Nice color accent feature
Cons: No hot shoe for an external flash, higher ISO gets noisey. Need to keep the manual close by
Other Thoughts: Very quick delivery

Awesome Camera
Pros: Outstanding picture quality, works perfect in both auto and manual modes, feature rich, super fast and well built.
Cons: Smaller LCD screen, not a compact camera at all (but that is expected with this style), no batter meter.
Other Thoughts: This camera simply blows me away. Zoom is great (Image Stabilizing works perfect with the zoom) and the pictures are perfect. The camera is full of features and options...more than I can even come close to listing here! The only thing I would like to see different on this camera would be a battery meter of some sort on it. All the camera gives you is a LOW BATTERY warning, then you get about 5-10 pictures (2-3 if you are using the flash) till they are dead. Its no big deal, but a meter would be nice. Overall, I do think this is the BEST camera its price range and it has not let me down!!

Amazing Camera
Pros: I searched around and could not find any camera that was even comparable in the same price range as this camera. This thing does everything I want and more, the picture and video quality are amazing, and it has a fast upload to computer speed.
Cons: The box includes a 16Mb card, this will hold about 6 pictures, so if you plan on taking more, get a bigger card. Newegg has excellent combo deals with memory cards.
Other Thoughts: I looked at another site to originally buy this camera; they were originally going to sell it at a much lower price than Newegg, but once they added on all the extra charges the price was much, much higher than Newegg's, and didn't even come with a descent memory card.

Love the camera
Pros: Got the camera a few days ago and just can't shoot enough pics, really lets you go from auto shoot and forget to manual pro control easily. The flip out screen with auto rotation when you tilt the camera is great as well.
Cons: None yet, camera is quick, takes great shots, seems to be good on batteries, not to heavy, newegg shipped it in 1 day.
Other Thoughts: I really need to give kudos to Newegg again. My stupid self forgot to add the combo with the free SD card and I contacted them when I noticed. They shipped it free of charge even after I told them I would pay shipping. Newegg proves why they are the #1 online retailer once again!

Awesome Camera
Pros: The camera takes really nice pictures. the very first shot I took with it was crystal clear. The zoom works well, and i love the color accents mode. You can chose what color will appear and all the rest is black and white . All the modes are fun to play with and i think it is a good Buy
Cons: I will agree that the auto focus takes a long time when in close range, but is quick with objects farther away. the camera has a manual focus which is cool. This is no reason not to by it though.
Other Thoughts: New egg did a great job with getting it out of the warehouse. I received the camera within two days of ordering.

Pros: Many features, works as point & shoot, fantastic zoom lens
Cons: filters not easily added.
Other Thoughts: This is an awesome camera. It allows my wife to shoot as a point & shoot camera to get the family snapshots. But by turning the knob, it lets me play around with the artistic side of photography. I decided on this camera because of the zoom lens. It pulls in those far off shots great and the image stability makes sure the shot isn't blurry. Add into this the preset modes and you can capture just about anything that comes along.
Awesome camera that I'm thrilled I bought. Of course, NewEgg shipped unbelievably fast. I ordered it on Wednesday night and I chose the standard shipping. It was delivered Friday. This is why I love NewEgg.

Great Camera
Pros: Great looking camera, very nice lookings pics. The zoom is amazing. The 4x digital works pretty good. At 48x total zoom I could clearly read a book from about 30 feet away. Takes great video's as well. With so many settings I'll probably never learn them all.
Cons: Lens cap does fall off pretty easily.
Other Thoughts: Not quite an DSLR, not quite a sub-compact, the S3-IS is in a league of its own. Canon really came through with this one.

More than I'd expected
Pros: This camera has lived up to most of the reviews that I'd read (dpreview.com, imaging-resource.com). I particularly like the availability of the automatic/priority/scene settings (meaning just about anyone can use it), yet the manual settings are there if you have the knowledge to use them. Have also found the dedicated video button useful. Noticed that you can adjust the zoom while the video is recording (an improvement over the older A80 we had), as well as the ability to record to the capacity of your storage if you want. I think the older model had a max of 3 minutes. The relatively compact size (compared to digital SLRs), price, performance and features made this a great buy for me.
Cons: New this going in, but would have like the camera to be a bit smaller for traveling. The long lens makes this a difficult trade-off, but I'd rather have the zoom.

great SLR-like camera
Pros: Flip/swivel LCD, excellent quality pictures, NO auto-popup flash!
Cons: Instruction manual doesn't quite match the camera, it references a couple of features I don't seem to have, like Super Macro.
Other Thoughts: Excellent mid-range camera, and Newegg has a great price!

Decent camera
Pros: Well-designed preset modes, copious documentation, nice utilities, generally solid design.
Cons: Very noisy ISO 400 and 800 filmspeeds, flash photograph tends to drain the batteries quickly
Other Thoughts: Great for taking snapshots on vacation; don't bother if you plan to take action shots in low-light conditions. I bought this camera to

Excellent Choice
Pros: Good lens, good I.S., easy controls, best digital zoom I've ever seen on a still camera. Also the best movie mode I've ever seen on a still camera. Love the color swap and color accent modes. Very fast continuous shooting. Anyone who complains about the auto focus being a little slow should have tried my old Olympus ultra zoom. This thing's like lightning compared to that. The scene stitch mode is great. I also appreciate the lens ring. Get an adapter from lensmate and you can play around with polarizers and such without having to spend a ton on an SLR.
Cons: I'd trade all the fancy special effects for RAW format in a heartbeat. Also, ever hear of video COMPRESSION? The size of the video files cripples the sweet movie mode. The included zoom browser software, as expected, is useless. And a 16 meg card? Come on. Plan on spending a bit more for a good fast SD card to go with it.
Other Thoughts: Got this to replace my old Olympus C-720UZ (3mp, 8x optical). I wanted something that would give me more creative control, but without the expense of a DSLR that I'll never take full advantage of. This thing's a great compromise. I don't regret the purchase a bit. Newegg, as always, was outstanding. I never shop anywhere else for electronics.

first camera
Pros: Good resolution, Good color, generally accurate focus, 12x zoom offers excellent 36-432mm range, Image stabilization works well (and can be used in movie mode), Very quiet, Solid construction and good handling, Fast and responsive, Stunning movie mode with high quality stereo sound, Impressive continuous (burst) shooting, 'Punchy' results straight out of the camera, Clean images at lower ISO settings, Impressively little distortion for such a large lens, Excellent price for the amount of features, Enjoyable and easy to use
Cons: Occasional focus hunting at the telephoto end of the zoom in low light, Lack of detail in shadows, ISO 800 mode is too noisy to be really useful, ISO 200 noise reduction too strong, No rechargeable batteries supplied in the box, Occasional highlight clipping due to over exposure of contrasty scenes, Viewfinder and screen can be difficult to see in very bright conditions, Images slightly soft, Chromatic aberration and purple fringing, No RAW mode
Other Thoughts: thanks to newegg i received items one day early from scheduled date.

Great quality, lots of features
Pros: Awesome pictures. With good lighting, it comes extremely close to SLR level pictures. Vivid, but not fake colors. Enough manual settings to make anyone happy, with a good enough auto mode that point and shooters that want a long zoom are happy. Wide screen mode to take perfect pictures for widescreen monitors. Flip out LCD is nice to keep it protected/view yourself shooting (if you're that vain). Among the best macro I've ever used. Too many good things to list.
Cons: The auto focus could probably be better, but it's as good as anything else I've seen in its class. Low light with close subjects using the flash tend to have more contrast than I think they should. Night shots of subjects that the flash won't reach anyway turn out great though.
Other Thoughts: I bought this for about half the current price, but I would still be happy with it even if I'd had to pay full price. Bought and Elph (SD550) at the same time for the convenience of size, and I find myself using the S3 most of the time despite its size because of how impressive the image quality is.

Nice little camera, IS is great
Pros: Image stabilization, movie capabilities, lens flexibility, manual controls, and flip-out lcd are the reasons I bought this camera for our leasure camera. I also have a canon 20D, but sometimes I just don't want to haul all my big gear, and the S3IS leaves me with a good portion of the manual controls I'm used to on the 20D. I find the camera to take consistently good shots in medium to good light. The IS is really effective, and the movie quality is really good in good light (IS helps there too), sound on the movie mode is exceptionally good. The movie quality is just as good as m very expensive JVC GC-MC500U in good light, actually better with the IS, it's just not quite as good in low light. Also good battery life is nice
Cons: It's not a pocket camera, but it's light enough to take anywhere. The ISO performance is about average to good for consumer cameras, I find up to ISO 400 is good, 800 is a last resort. For ISO performance reasons, it's not the best indoor lowlight camera, Fuji's F30 or F10 or and dSLR is much better in this regard. Also I've noticed focus up close to at times miss, but not bad. Finally, I wish the video mode was MPG, while the AVI quality is excellent, it also produces extremely large video files, better invest in some big cards and hard drives if you plan to do alot of video, hopefully canon goes to mpg in the next release. I also don't like the manual flash pop up, it should beauto pop, my wife constantly take pictures without flash that really needed it because she didn't notice the raise flash message.
Other Thoughts: I bought this camera because for my needs it's one of the best all around performers. Great lens will give you the reach you need outdoors, IS will help on the long end and with low light scenery. The movie mode is also of good enough quality that for short segments (minus the large file size) it could easily substitue for a camcorder. This camera will never replace and SLR, but it gives you a whole lot, really an amazing amount when you consider the price difference.

Amazing camera!!!
Pros: Very high quality video for digital camera, Amazing stabilization! Great macro and super macro pictures. Takes great night photos. Batterys life is insanely long! over 200 pictures on 4 standard AA 5500 on 2000 mAH Recharagables
Cons: Little heavy but that's expected for a camera with all these features!
Other Thoughts: The auto focous is great!

Good, but not spectacular
Pros: Great Movie quality
Decent picture quality
Extensive options and modes to customize pictures
Long battery life, into half an hour on average with no flash and LCD on.
EXCELLENT macro picture quality
Fast snapshot mode
Flash can be powerful enough to light up a completely dark room
Fast zoom
Lighting fast startup
Cons: 1 GB movie size limitation, equates to about 8 Minutes of 640x480 res. Regardless of SD card size.
Made for smaller hands, buttons hard to learn and size is small.
I could only get a 1GB test movie onto my computer by using cannons software and not the camera and scanner wizard via XP. Smaller sized movies can transfer fine this way.
Auto focus is not always great, especially when zoomed.
Not spectacular for low light night scenes
Higher ISO settings have a very high grainy effect
I leave the USB wire port open, because the rubber insert is a PITA to get out without a tool
Awkward to hold when not taking pictures, almost always ends up with fingerprints on the lense
From what I can tell there is no way to monitor battery life, only know when they're almost dead.
Other Thoughts: I did not like the smaller LCD with a tilt out screen, but I've grown to like it for taking portrait shots of myself and can come in handy for other picture types.
As with most if not all cameras, lighting is crucial between good and great. So don't think this one will perform miracles.
If you want a camera that takes Good quality movies, with good sound and a high zoom, you've found it.
I use a Transcend 4GB 150x card that used to be(?) sold on Newegg

Best Camera I Ever Owned!
Pros: Loads of Features Love that Super Zoom! Even the digital zoom provides excellent image quality in some situations - usually digital zoom is crummy on digital cameras. Storage Capacity - I'm able to use 4 gig SD cards. Storage Availability - You can find SD cards practically anywhere that sells anything to do with computers and/or electronics. Image Quality - I had 2 other digital cameras before this one, and they do not compare - The others were 2 megapixel and 3.2 megapixel. Controls are convenient, and mostly make perfect sense. Video quality is amazing, I think, for a digital camera. Sound Quality is very good, except for a "ringing" sort of sound that you can hear on playback in quiet situations
Cons: Time/Size limit to video recordings - I wish I could record until the card filled up, instead of only 1 gigabyte cuttoff. "Ringing" sound in audio during video recordings.
Other Thoughts: After this camera, I will ALWAYS consider Canon, and probably look to Canon first for good quality cameras. It does not support RAW format, but I'd likely never use it for other than just trying it out just to see. I've read from others that the RAW format is something that takes lots more time to take the pictures, anyway - so I'd probably almost never use it.

As good as I expected
Pros: Options galore - both built in and potential add-ons, image quality is good for a "fun" camera, great zoom lens, image stabilization RULES, good movie quality, screen articulates and looks nice and is VERY responsive. And good battery life with rechargables.
Cons: It's big. Not a "take everywhere" camera. It would be great if the wide end was wider than 35mm equivalent, but I know that's not possible for a camera with 12x optical zoom. I'm just dreaming!
Other Thoughts: I'm a serious photographer (I won't say pro since I don't support myself with photography) and wanted a fun "all-in-one" camera. I wanted the long zoom, the killer movie mode, tons of shooting options, manual controls, etc. This fits the bill perfectly. I would like to have a pocket digi-cam to go along with it since this is too big to take everywhere and have ready to shoot unless you carry it on your neck. But for anything but fine art photographs, this is great. 6 megapixels crammed into a sensor this small is more than enough. In fact, I'd say that it's already pushing things too far. These cameras that pack 7, 8, 10 megapixels into tiny sensors are just doing it for marketing reasons, not for better image quality.

Incomparable Value
Pros: I bought this camera as an alternative to my Powershot S400 pocket camera. I wanted more options, especialy a better zoom, as well as lens attachment capabilities (wide angle and zoom with filters).
Here are the key points that separate this camera from all others under $xxx. Nobody combines all these features in one camera but Canon.
1) 12X zoom 2) Image stabilization 3) VGA video @30fps 4) Articulating view screen 5) 6MP 6) Settings beyond Point-n-shoot
I love that you can use the zoom while recording videos. This is extremely rare. The video quality is excellent. I don't use my Sony MiniDV camcorder anymore. The 4GB SD card I bought lets me easily transfer avi video to my computet for editing.
The articulating screen really helps when shooting video from a tripod. Point the screen anywhere and shoot away.
SmaLl footprint - I can put my S3 and my S400 in a fairly small case, and still have room for batteries and memory cards.
Cons: The one thing I really wish it had is a remote. I would like to control the video functions without touching the camera. The timer works fine for stills.

Awesome Camera!
Pros: Price, Features, Quality, too many to list all!
Cons: Lens cap is lame!
Other Thoughts: This camera is very nice for those who want to step up their game when it comes to photography, but can't afford "top of the line". This camera holds it's own when it comes to picture quality and video quality. It has auto features that will enable you to take nice pics until you get familiar with it's manual functions. Don't let the manuals scare you - they are detailed and helpful! Plus there are plenty of tutorials on-line that break this camera down so even a caveman could use it! (sorry Geico)

Excellent!
Pros: I was debating whether or not to get this camera, but I did and it was a great decision! I really love how the camera looks, and the 12x zoom is alot more then I thought at first. Quality wise this is pretty similar to the A6xx and A7xx series, which is excellent. Best camera out there in this price range! Another one of my favorites is that it uses AA batteries, and the SD card is on the side, not in the battery compartment.
Cons: Lens cap falls off pretty easily, LCD is a bit small, but still great.
Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this camera to either a novice or professional.

Best camera for Price
Pros: Full auto with multiple shooting modes, burst mode, and movie recording equal to most camcorders. Full Manuel control, with all the goodies. Try getting a DSLR with this lens range at this price.
Cons: Should have went with auto pop up flash. You must manuelly raise flash unit. Not a real issue, but hey why manuel canon?
Other Thoughts: Closest to a Digital SLR in functions, and a good lens and zoom range I could find at this Price. Awesume job Canon

As good as I expected
Pros: I tend to use the long end of the telephoto range, and the 12X and image stabilization of the S3 are perfect for me. The macro/super macro modes are great, too. The shutter lag and shot-to-shot delay aren't as noticeable as some reviews led me to believe. Newegg's performance was flawless, as usual.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I'm starting to think about the telephoto extender...

Amazing
Pros: Excellent picture quality. Loaded with features. Completly customizable settings. You can even load your own sounds.
Cons: Burns standard AA batteries quick!
Other Thoughts: Its my first near professional quality camera and its everything I imagined. You can take a picture while recording video. I took a pic on super macro with the lens touching the object and it turned out great! You will need a larger fast memory card and I suggest rechargeable batteries.

Amazing
Pros: Amazing camera. Very flexible and very good quality. You don't even need a card reader or the software, just plug the USB and it reads the camera as a drive.
The manual mode will show whether or not you are a good photographer and where you need improvement. It is definitely a camera a hobbyist could use.
Set it on Manual and have fun.
Cons: On Manual with a full aperture you really should get a tripod. For longer exposures it is the only way - and even for short ones a tripod helps.
Other Thoughts: Spring for a 1 or 2 gig card, at least 150x. I'm using a 50x card and I'm about to upgrade. Also get 2500mAh batteries. I won't even think about putting the stock Alkalines in.

Great camera
Pros: Great point and shoot for novice. Image stabilization. Ability to make film clips easily. Takes AA batteries; no proprietary battery needed. So if you are out shooting and your rechargeable batteries run down, you can simply go to any store and buy some alkaline AA batteris to finish up the day.
Cons: None really for me.
Other Thoughts: I bought mine from Newegg around May right before I went on vacation. Like has been said earlier here, be prepared to do a little reading in the manuals, but it is really pretty easy to use in automatic mode. I also just love the image stabilization feature of this camera; highly zoomed pictures even in low light conditions are much easier to capture without the blurs. And in automatic mode, even my wife can use this camera after showing her a few simple things and she is is not much on complex pieces of equipment to operate. :D

Frankly Amazed
Pros: Bought this camera for my wife. The automatic ">" to advanced manual setting make this the perfect camera to comfort the novice; Wife was point and shoot within 10 minutes. A month later she's manually adjusting F Stop, shutter, pre and post flash, and becoming adept with tougher depth of field shots. My wife says it fits her hands perfectly, and the 'hud' display becomes easier with each session. this camera has broken down the fear factor with it's ease of automatic operation. I let her use my work photo printer and nearly dropped when she showed me a few panorama shots, and a portrait of our grandson. To 8 1/2 x 11 [max pixulation]the photo was clear as glass. A Great Camera for novice to intermediate photography. No, it is not an SLR, but I find no faults with this camera body and lens match.
Cons: Past point and shoot novice photos be prepared for a few hours of book work with the manuals. [ Yes I said manuals!!] Off auto this camera can be as unforgiving as my first Canon SRT-1 [circa 1972) Time on the Camera, reading, and pre and post developing take time and practice.
Cloudy info on shot burst with different SD Cards. Low grade SD cards work, but speed is needed for a good 5-7 shot burst. 4G x150 great for 8 min 640 mm.
Other Thoughts: I wish I had a camera like this when I started shooting some 40 years ago. This camera is a no brainer, it covers the novice to talented advanced photo-pilot.

Unbelievable Value
Pros: This is a reasonably priced camera that takes stunning picture and video. I’m upgrading from a Canon A520 with a 3X zoom like most basic point and shoot cameras, with this you’re getting 12X zoom. The zoom is incredibly great for taking pictures of distant objects, the extra zoom really makes a difference in my pictures. I did intensive research and debating before I finally made my decision, and I’m glad this camera suits my every need. Not only is the picture quality great, but you’re also getting a good video camera, one thing I particularly like about this is the zoom during recording mode, and you don’t get that with most cameras.
Cons: NONE!
Other Thoughts: The adjustable LCD screen is great for taking self portraits and helps frame pictures when the camera is being raised over crowds.

Outstanding
Pros: This camera is outstanding. For over 3 weeks I have been racking my brain out trying to decide between this camera and the FUJI S9100 9MP camera. I am glad I bought this one. The features are so easy to use. And the connection to the computer for file transfers coulnt be easier. With windows XP you dont even need drivers. XP has them. This is a perfect match for the Canon MP500 printer I have.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: For some unknown reason the day after I purchased the camera from Newegg it is no longer available. Kinda weird. Thats the 3rd time that happened. Oh well no regrets

Very Nice
Pros: After 3 years of using other peoples low-quality cameras I decided to buy one of my own and to research beforehand and I decided on the Canon S3. The 12x optical zoom, combined with the complete "adjustability" makes this camera extremely versatile for anyone from the occasional "point-and-click" photographer, to even the more serious. Also, the price-point is great for those of us who dont have an entire fortune to spend on a camera. Comes with 2 guides: Beginner and Advanced, which is great to help you understand all that this camera really can do. Installing the Canon software was easy and straight forward as well.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Definately needs a larger memory card than is supplied (16MB)

Very good, but......
Pros: Great pictures - stunning zoom - very cool options.
Cons: After 6 years with a very good Kodak DC290 I wanted an upgrade. The Canon S3 IS is a very very good camera - but, the written instructions are written by some techno-nut. Canon needs to give their PR department this information and make it much more consumer friendly. The camera is also very small - a little larger would make it easier to handle.
Other Thoughts: If this is your very first digital camera I would look for one with less options.

Perfect camera
Pros: Great pictures, good color, fast turn on, amazing batterly life with NiMH, really good video, VERY fast zoom, beautiful display.
Cons: The user interface is not for the faint of heart. This is not just a point and shoot. You can point and shoot in auto mode just fine, but to use the SLR-Like features you're gonna read the manual... 3x.
Other Thoughts: No hesitation, I'd buy this again. It is a wonderful camera.

WOW What a camera!
Pros: I purchased for the image stablizer and WOW what a difference. W/my old camera I could take 10 pictures and 3 would be useable due to big zoom and no IS. With this 9 out of 10 or a perfect 10.
Cons: zero
Other Thoughts: The video with stereo recording is sweet and I find I use it more than I ever thought I would. The zoom is great, no need to even use the digital when you have 12x optical. Buy without worry. NewEgg even had a 1 gig card deal for FREE!

Great camera
Pros: Nice color saturation. Punchy colors and quite versatile. Has a lot of nice functions - SLR-lite. Love the fact that it uses AA batteries. Buy some nice rechargeables and you're ready! No propietary battery types. Power consumption is quite low, batteries go quite a ways! Nice solid build.
Cons: Like all digi-cams (except the Fuji F30), perform average on low light situations. Flash actually does a good job (not many over-exposed shots).

RELIABLE!!!
Pros: Should have baught camera from new egg. Can find it a little cheaper elsewhere but ALL the agravation is not worth it. Purchased other items here and had exceptional experience.
Cons: Other web sites will call you to purchas additional items you do not need and delay your order. NEgg is fast, professional and smart buy.
Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for.... Pay a few extra dollars and get it here!!! I learned the hard way!

Great camera!
Pros: This is a great camera! I moved up from my Canon A95 to this and it was worth the $. The Zoom to me is incredible for a point and shoot type camera and the picture quality is a lot better than my A95 I think. AA batteries mean finding replacements is easy wherever in the world you may be. The moveable LCD screen allows me to get some pretty good angles of whatever I am shooting (mainly cars).
Cons: I don't like the fact that it doesn't use the compact flash card.
Other Thoughts: Good choice if you don't want to step into the pricey DSLR world yet.
