Rating + 5

Pros: Size, takes quick pictures, quick start up time.

Cons: Battery could be better.

Other Thoughts: I really enjoy using the SD1000. It takes good and quick pictures. This is perfect if you need to take a quick snap shot of a once in a lifetime event...like a raccoon chasing a squirrel or something...Just turn it on and shoot. Done in less than 10 seconds.

Rating + 4 Solid camera

Pros: Small size (fits discreetly in a pocket), quick start-up, nice daytime & flash picture quality, don't need software to access the memory card via USB (This may only be in Windows, though). Good construction quality.

Cons: No anti-shake, low-light is kind of noisy (probably due to small image sensor). No usb charging of battery. The mechanism that extends & uncovers the lens on power-up makes me a little nervous, but it has yet to let me down. No RAW image support (not sure if this is a con on a point-and-shoot).

Other Thoughts: Very solid ultra portable. The SD1100 has since been released which has a higher MP count (I wouldn't worry about a 7mp vs 8mp though, these things don't have the optic & sensor quality to back those numbers up), newer DSP which adds anti-shake. The price is certainly right on this guy, though. If a point & shoot is what you want, this is what you can get and it will do the job.

Rating + 5 Buy This Camera....NOW!

Pros: Listen, I just got my camera on Friday and have not stopped taking pics. The camera is mad small and you WILL forget that it's in your pocket due to the small form factor. The pics it takes are beautiful and the auto function is very efficient. The video mode is so good, I'm not sure if I will be carrying my Panasonic camcorder with me which is small and loaded with features but Canon has made a great product in this camera.

Cons: The camera comes with a 32MB card which is only provided to get you started somewhat. I put two snaps and a 10-15 sec video and it was full! I wish that Canon would have provided at least a 1-2GB card......it probably would have only increased the price by 10-15 bucks. I brought a 4GB SDHC card for only $25 right here from NewEgg so you can't beat that with a baseball bat!

Rating + 5 Great little camera

Pros: Very fast pictures, menu, and start-up, good low-light (finally), easy to use manual settings, good product documentation, very good pictures for being such a small guy, very good-looking with the black accents, new models seem boxier than before which adds style... I could go on and on!

Cons: I can't think of one

Other Thoughts: My last Canon died after fairly sparse use over the last two years but I'm still a fan of their product line for better or for worse (electronics just aren't perfect). This is my third Canon digital camera and I also have a Canon Pixma MP610 which I REALLY like!

Rating + 5 Simply Amazing

Pros: This camera is simply amazing. I chose this camera, because I wanted a small camera to be able to keep in my pocket all the time, but I wanted it to be very versatile. It meets both requirements with flying colors. Colors are beautiful, and images are very sharp. For a point and shoot it has a very large amount of controls, but it's also very simple to use.

Cons: I honestly sat down and tried to find things I didn't like and the only thing I could think of was that the flash is on AUTO automatically, so if you shut the flash off and then the camera off and then on again you have to turn the flash off. Other then that it's amazing.

Other Thoughts: My ex had the Canon A540 which was a great camera, but a little bulky. This camera is small (smaller then a pack of cigarettes) so is great to carry in your pocket all the time. Canon and Newegg are a great combo.

Pros: This is a easy to learn camera. It makes a novice look like a pro. Especially for a wallet sized camera.

Cons: It took 13 days to get it. Shame shame Newegg!

Other Thoughts: I got the bundle that had the case, battery, LCD cover, micro tripod, and 1G. SD card.

Rating + 5 One heck of a camera!

Pros: Compact, battery lasts very long, rechargeable battery, standard optical zoom for this size camera, digital zoom that actually works very well, beautiful LCD screen, more features and functions than you can shake a stick at, takes beautiful pictures, and has a classic design.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a slim style digital camera and after reading many reviews I settled on this one. I must say I have been very impressed with this camera. Canon got it right with this one for sure!

Rating + 5 SD1000 Great Value

Pros: Super light, face recognition is awesome, great quality images, videos are nice for camera size, flash is strong

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: bought this for my girlfriend. The pictures she takes with this camera are great. I also noticed when the camera puts boxes around faces before a picture and you move, the boxes move to keep focus on faces. Make sure you get at least a 1gb card too. Makes me want to put my SD600 down and grab this camera. Newegg and Canon are the best!

Rating + 4 You Really Cannot Go Wrong

Pros: Only a thousand words? I better not waste any room then. This is the third Canon camera (1 - SD630, 2 - SD1000, & 3 - SD1000) I have owned in the last six months (the reason for the 3 cameras is for another time). Picture quality is great, Photostitch software is amazing, feature set and menu has all the bells and whistles, the price cannot be beat, and the battery has well outperformed my expectations. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a small, quick, point and shoot camera. Canon rocks with their cameras.

Cons: The only issue I have with this camera, and most other point and shoot cameras, is the lack of quality in low light situations. Flash is a must during the night, which makes taking a picture of anything further than 6 feet from the lens a challenge. Obviously this is not a huge deal since this will be my third PowerShot from Canon (I dropped one out a window of my car and the other was left at a mall, but let's leave discussion of my stupidity for another time). I have a friend who dies by Sony Cybershots - he says low light performance is better. They are pricier and require proprietary memory - Memory Stick Pro Duo.

Other Thoughts: Buy this camera if you want an awesome point and shoot camera. Once again the battery life is amazing. Video quality is high quality also.

Side note - If anyone finds a Canon SD1000K at the Lancaster Mall in Salem, OR, let me know.

Thanks

Pros: Bought this for my mother this Christmas and the picture quality blows my socks off compared to our aging Canon S40. The video quality is also excellent and I'd consider retiring Canon Optura 10 and just use the one camera.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Check out the Canon cameras with image stabilization, eg SD870 IS, as the price difference is not that great and it's an awesome feature.

Rating + 5 Great camera for the money!

Pros: When taking a picture, the image doesn't look good through the LCD preview, but once taken, it is amazing how clear and bright the colors are. Very easy to use for anybody. Video feature works great for such a small camera. Light, durable, definitely recommend to anybody on a budget.

Cons: Flash distance seems a little short at times, but thats alright, because I knew that and I don't use this camera for much indoor shots, more outdoor shots. As stated before, LCD can make the preview look blurry at times, but it doesn't matter, because pictures are GREAT! Could do a little nicer with the menu, but that is how Canon has always done their menus and it still works good enough.

Other Thoughts: I bought this camera and got the free case and 1GB SD card for $160, great price, and bought an extra 2GB card for $14 and that is all I need. Excellent for scenery photography.

Pros: Good looks and outstanding build quality, fast startup, takes photos quickly. Best of all- fantastic photo quality and fairly in-depth shooting modes and adjustments. Battery charges at ludicrous speed!

Cons: Flimsy battery door.

Rating + 5 Great Camera!

Pros: Camera takes high quality photos on the basic automatic setting. The colors in the pictures are vibrant and amazing. Turns on and loads up quickly. Compact size makes it portable. Great features like color swap and color accent create unique shots. Fair quality digital zoom helps capture distant objects.

Cons: None for the price range. The small size might make it harder to take crystal clear pics every time (but nothing a tripod couldn't fix). While taking care to remain still, you can still snap great general photos with this camera.

Rating + 5 Excellent compact camera

Pros: Fits in the pocket, yet delivers high quality pictures, consistently

Cons: I was surprised to see some distortion in wide angle mode. I was adjusting the orientation to have the horizon truly horizontal (using Picasa - which is a snap) and noticed that the ends bend up... Not noticeable without a grid superimposed, but clearly there.

Other Thoughts: A little sleeve could be shipped with this camera, which is otherwise a gem.

Pros: I have heard great things regarding this website but i found out first hand just how great they really are. I ordered my new camera expecting it to come within a week. it arrived on my front step the very next day! no one believed that it came so fast! and the camera was in good condition, works well and takes great pictures. I will continue shopping from this website.

Cons: Nothing bad to say.

Pros: This Camera is smaller than my wallet, yet takes amazing pictures. It has great manual settings and is extremely easy to use. I love the Time laps video feature. I have printed off 8x10 photos that are crystal clear. This is a great purchase

Cons: None that I have seen

Other Thoughts: I would have liked the image stabilization like on the SD800IS and SD850IS, however the benefit vs. Cost was not worth it for me. If you have the extra money go for the 800 series. However I have played with this camera in many different settings, and have not found a great need for the IS.

Pros: Newegg refunded me the 20% and made good on their offer. Newegg continues to amaze me! Apologized for the misunderstanding and immediately refunded the difference. Great camera...I have the SD630 and thought Canon could not improve on perfection. Well once again I was wrong...

Cons: NA

Other Thoughts: Newegg you have regained my confidence in your company and once again my business. Thank you and keep up the good work. Canon keep up the fine quality of camera's. Happy holidays to all!

Rating + 5 Great Little Camera

Pros: I was drawn to this camera because of the unique look it had (over the typical all silver cameras that flood the market). After reading great reviews about it from many websites, I finally went and compared this camera to others in a local electronics store. I was very impressed. The camera just feels like it is more high quality than so many others out there. It has a nice weight to it and it doesn't feel like a toy. The higher resolution LCD may not seem that significant when reading specs on a website, but it blows away the lower quality LCDs used by most other ultra compact cameras. And since most of your time will be spent looking at the LCD to take / review pictures, that makes it very important. It also has great performance (camera is ready to go almost immediately and takes fast pictures compared to other brands).

Cons: I wish more compact cameras out there used regular AA batteries, but it would be hard to keep this camera as small as it is if it took regular batteries I guess. For me, there may be months at a time that the camera won't get used, so I'm not sure how long the rechargeable battery will hold a charge for. My other, larger Canon digital camera uses AA batteries and I've been happy with them.

Other Thoughts: Try this camera out in a store and see for yourself how it compares to other brands. It's got the looks, performance, quality, and price that make it hard to beat.

Pros: Great Camera overall. Perfect for someone who wants something small to keep in their pocket while traveling. Fast responce time. Takes generally good pictures.

Cons: None that I can really think of.

Other Thoughts: When I purchased the camera i failed to checkoff the bundle that included the free case and SD card. As a result I did not receive either of the two with my order. I emailed Newegg Customer Service abotu the issue and got a reply right away. They are sending me the case and card for absolutely no extra charge, not even shipping. Newegg's Customer Service Rocks

Rating + 5 Great pictures, Great video

Pros: Very small and easy to carry. Great pictures and great video. Can use SDHC so you can throw a 4 or 8 gig card in and never worry about running out of space.

Cons: I'd like access to more controls without going through the menu. Smaller screen than some of the newer models.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace my SD450 which took a lot of abuse over the years. Pictures are great but I particularly like the time-lapse video mode, which has been a lot of fun (give it a try)! I use it more often than my camcorder since it's so convenient and has a wider field of view for indoor shots.

Pros: I have owned a canon camera for 3 years, great product. Decided to purchase SD 1000 due to a small size, it is convenient to put your camera in a pocket and take pictures. Really awesome menu and LCD screen. Awesome pictures and you can shoot good quality video, what else would you require from a small camera? Newegg have done a great job in delivering the camera! One of the best deals on cameras, recommended.

Rating + 2 Not Happy!

Pros: Read Below...no pros for this purchase...

Cons: Have not received the camera yet...However, I have no other way to state my disappointment in this transaction. I purchased this camera because it was listed on Paypal/Newegg discount email for 20% off. Did I get the 20% off no! I was also charged $XX.XX for shipping and it specifically list Shipping cost at $X.XX (look at the amount of x's, see the difference). It does state that if the 20% is not listed when transaction is complete then that item was not part of the deal. Then why list it on the discount email? Not to mention you have to go through with the purchase to see if it even gives you the 20% discount. I would expect this on other merchants websites but not Newegg. Disappointed and looking somewhere else for the rest of my Xmas gifts.

Other Thoughts: Read above....Will add to comment about camera once it arrives.

Pros: Nice set of features for both the novice and advanced. Small size lets you carry it just about anywhere. Good battery life.

Cons: Grainy low light shots. This is expected though considering size and price.

Other Thoughts: Just ordered one for my fiance since she liked mine so much. Newegg had this order processed same day and at my door in 3 days. Sucks though that now it's on sale for about 10 dollars less and comes with a free case and 1GB card. If only I would have waited a couple more days.

Rating + 5 Sweet Camera at this price

Pros: Lightweight, Compact, fast operation time (warmup is non-existent) from start. Beautiful images from solid Canon optics. I replaced my SD400 for 100 bucks less than I paid for it 2 years ago.

Cons: Buy a generic PDA/cellphone screen protector to cut out and apply to the rear screen, it scratches just by looking at it funny. Get a cheap case from walmart for 5 bucks to keep dust off the camera - dust is the enemy.

Other Thoughts: I previously had a Canon SD400 after 2 years when the lens would no longer retract and repairing was more expensive than replacement. I've learned you really need to keep this camera dust-free (keep it in a case) and protect the rear screen with a protective skin, it will take a serious beating and is quite possibly the best travel camera I've ever owned. It's a great camera that will last you years with careful use.

Rating + 5 What a nice little camera!

Pros: This little guy is just about the best point and shoot camera I've ever owned. It turns on and it's ready to take a picture in an instant and its lens quality, resolution, and shooting modes are outstanding. Some people complain about battery life being short but I feel that it's better than average. Also, the camera is very compact and sleek, with a nice "deck of cards" feel that fits perfectly just about anywhere.

Cons: The zoom, no question about it. A 3X optical is just not enough for a camera in this price range nowadays. Also, it is somewhat sensitive to hand shake, even with the shake reduction feature turned on.

Other Thoughts: With its excellent picture quality and wide array of shooting modes, this camera is just about as good as point and shoots get. Performance is pretty good and the only drawbacks I found are hand shake sensitivity and poor 3X optical zoom.

Rating + 5 Good product

Pros: Size, picture quality, interface, price

Cons: none yet

Other Thoughts: I'm not overly knowledgeable about cameras. I'm a big fan of the ultra-compact category though and this produces some of the best pictures of several models I've owned using standard, out-of-the-box auto settings. The UI is more intuitive and easier to use than average. Haven't used long enough to comment on battery life. Videos were better than expected.

For it's price, with the free 1GB card, I find this is an outstanding value from a solid brand name.

Pros: Just an amazing camera. Pictures rival my digital rebel XT (600 dollar camera), the optical zoom is nice, digital is pretty good. Flash is bright, and I love all the shooting modes. Color accent makes for some great and fun pictures, and color swap also gets cool effects. Takes great night photos. Size is perfect, good battery life.

Cons: Battery life leaves a little to be desired but what can you do. Other than that only issue I have is a fear of dropping it, but the wrist strap seems sturdy.

Other Thoughts: Overall one of the best purchases I've made, worth every penny. If you can afford it and want a high quality camera for anything, this is the camera. Small size, fun features, amazing quality. I actually like it as much as my digital rebel XT.

Pros: Extremely easy to use, yet easy access to more advanced features. I was able to show my mom how to use it in a few minutes. Easily connects to my Macbook without installing additional software.

Cons: I wished it came with a small bag for a case, but I use the packaging bag that came with it to protect it.

Other Thoughts: It uses red-eye reduction when I wouldn't expect it's needed and doesn't seem to help either. I'm new to the details of "picture taking", so maybe it's the user, me. The "facial focus" feature takes a bit to get acustom to, also.

Cons: Not the 'best' zoom, but it's average. Don't really care about that.

Also the push button directional pad makes an echo spring noise which sounds a bit cheap, but I think it was because of it is new, it's gone away since I've used it for a bit.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend to anyone. Great buy!

Rating + 4 Good Digital Camera

Pros: Very Small! Will easily fit in your shorts pocket or shirt pocket. Turns on and off fast. Perfect camera for someone who just wants to take good pics without knowing what settings to change and how.

Cons: The battery compartment is the same place the SD card goes but, its not that bad...the little door that holds the battery & SD card feels very flimsy like its going to break but, as long as you handle it without being rough or in a hurry, you will be fine.

Other Thoughts: I have yet to experiment with all the nifty features this camera offers but looking forward to it.

The "Red Eye" removal features works very good in my opinion!

Rating + 5 Just what I needed

Pros: - Great point-shoot digital camera
- High-quality videos
- Very fast turn on and shoot time
- Ease of use

Cons: Nothing that prevents me from doing what I want

Other Thoughts: Get at least a Gb of memory, esp. if you want to record video clips.

Rating + 4 Very nice SMALL camera

Pros: Nice pictures overall. Amazing LCD. The movies are very high quality at 640x480. Decent battery life.

Cons: Too freakin' tiny! I am used to small tech, but this thing is just too small to take good pictures. I ended up getting a small tripod. The pictures always ended up blurry, and I have a very very steady hand. I wish I would exchange for another model...

Other Thoughts: I don't even have gnarly meaty man fingers... I'm not really that big of a dude. I would recommend trying this camera out at a store before buying.

Rating + 5 Great Camera

Pros: Has EVERYTHING you need in a digital camera. The red-eye reduction feature will spare you lots of time removing red-eye in Photoshop. Many other useful settings and features as well.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I did alot of research before I bought this camera, and Canon always seemed to have the best product. And New Egg has the LOWEST price- you'll end up paying +$$ if you buy elsewhere.

Rating + 5 amazing

Pros: Small, well thought out as to functions, nice build quality, SD memory, bright LCD, video.

Cons: Audio for movie mode isn't the best but that's why they make video cameras.

No image stabilization - have to be careful when zooming.

Other Thoughts: This replaced my Canon S45 - for the $ it's pretty amazing. A professional photographer friend of mine said that the Canon's are some of the best and highest quality.

Rating + 5 Great point and shoot

Pros: I bought this camera to replace an older 4MP digital elph that my toddler got the best of. So I can compare it to an older model elph... and I have to say this camera is leaps and bounds better! Much faster pic rate, I miss very few shots now, and like the older version I enjoy the controls. Start up is quick also. Great price from newegg of course with the extra battery, 1G SD card and camera bag! Thanks newegg! I have bought a few things a year from you for the past 6 yrs or so and have yet to be disappointed!

Cons: None.

Rating + 5 Small, quality camera

Pros: For most people that understand that they won't be taking those special artistic shots where you need complete control of every aspect of the camera, this is just right. Canon-quality picture and color. Easy interface and fast boot-up time. Small and easy to carry in a pocket. Black accent makes it unique :)

Cons: 64mb card that comes with it is, for the most part, useless. Spend a little money and buy a 1GB or larger.

Other Thoughts: Haven't played with the direct-print function. Seems unnecessary?

Rating + 5 The newest of my Elphs

Pros: Ok, I upgrade my digital camera every year or so and this upgrades a Canon SD600 which upgraded a SD550 which upgraded a SD300 and so on. The facial recognition is awesome, the new 1600 ISO is great. I thought about the SD800 with IS or the SD900 but honestly we don't need it. I snap 5K pictures or more per year and have actually gotten used to using it for video. This new model allows for 4GB of continuous video or approximately 1hr which now serves as out main video camera mainly due to size and portability. I am more than pleased with it and plan to upgrade again in a year or so. We have an 8GB SDHC card and it works perfectly, 1 card, two batteries and you are good for whatever, no regrets.

Cons: No IS, Image stabilization, no HD video like our camcorder. (well I didn't expect it but it is nice to want or dream) no upgrade program from Canon.

Other Thoughts: Go Canon go! I can't believe that I am excited about spending more money every year or so on yet another camera, we are just addicted.

Pros: Great compact camera for the money. Easy to use, fast, and quality pictures.

Cons: LCD screen washes out in the dark, not a lot of manuel features.

Other Thoughts: Fast delivery-great website. Would recommend this camera to friend!

Rating + 4 Excellent

Pros: Lightweight, compact, and easy to use. Instruction manual, well haven't read but the front cover, so I know I have a Canon product, but I know the camera is packed with a few extras.

Cons: Only hassle was with finding accessories at local stores, will end up purchasing everything through Newegg, next time.

Other Thoughts: Take time to scan through the instruction manual as there are some nifty settings on this camera that can be taken advantage of, while looking for a particular shot. Of course it is also a point and shoot camera, so do what you will.

Rating + 5 Great sub-compact camera!

Pros: This camera is easy to use, and takes great pictures. I especially like the near instantaneous response when taking "pre-focused" pictures. Even when not pre-focused, the camera's response is pretty quick---no more than 2-3 tenths of a second. The LCD is quite good, and viewable in all but the brightest conditions. And the menu system is fairly easy to master (though I've used other Canon cameras before). Overall, this is a great camera, especially at this price with a free 1GB card. Newegg delivered promptly, as usual.

Cons: none worth noting...

Pros: First day of use, great pictures... crisp and clear. For the price it does exactly what it should... take pics that are worthy of keeping and storing. The 1GB card is also a great plus.

Cons: Other than the Li-Recharge battery... but I guess that is why I will be ordering another to keep on hand in case I forget to recharge this one.

Other Thoughts: Camera is great... if you are looking for a compact digi, clear images, and of course a name brand you can trust... this is it.

Rating + 5 Nice Ultra-Compact

Pros: Pros- Light, small, easy to use, records high quality movies, feels sturdier than my older Kodak, fast for an ultra-compact, great picture quality. For this price range, I don't see how you could go wrong, I think Canon makes the best quality cameras and most reviews show it.

Cons: Getting used to all of the features and controls, not as dummy proof as the Kodak's. That's about it really.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a high quality, ultra compact (its small folks) camera that won't break the bank. This is for you. Also, don't be fooled by high MP numbers, most don't need more than 6 MP anyway. I haven't tried it for battery life yet, but I will soon enough!

Rating + 5 Canon SD1000

Pros: This is a great product by Cannon.. It starts up real quick, in about 1 sec. Picture quality is very nice and the videos are preety decent too. Very easy to use and functional are also good enough..

Cons: Only thing cannon should work on is that it dosnt take very good quality pics in dark, other than that it is a very good camera.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this camera to my friends..

Pros: Very compact (about the size of a pack of cigarettes except thinner), excellent picture quality, true colors, decent macro, nice LCD

Cons: Bought with a SD 1Gig bundle and newegg stiffed me for the card.

Other Thoughts: Better than the casio exilim, but if you want better color and pictures, opt for the $300+ cybershots

Rating + 5 Great Camera

Pros: Super small, super light, ultra quick boot up. The photo quality is amazing, the movies are great, all the on-board features for editing are a nice extra. Deff an amazing 7+mp camera for the price

Cons: Move mode when there isnt alot of lighting gets a tad grainy. But you dont buy the camera for just movie mode.

Other Thoughts: All in all this is an amazing deal. The battery is nice and lats a good amount, its sooo easy to use, and I have heard some people say there arent alot of on-board features but this isnt an SLR its a point and shoot. Honeslty for the average to above average user there is more then enough editiing modes to keep you happy and just the comactness (which I personally love) does not sacrifice the quality at all. You have to want a small camera though this thing is small like its model elph implies. But over all its money well spent.

Pros: Small size, nice black/silver look, fast startup, solid design, excellent image quality. Very happy with this camera so far, can't wait to take more shots with it.

Cons: limited manual mode, but hey, it's a point and shoot, not a slr.

Other Thoughts: Upgrade from powershot sd450, this camera is smaller and takes cleaner photos vs my old camera. I've owned Canon digitals since the s100, the powershots only get better, I wouldn't own another brand.
