It works as intended.
Pros: I followed the instructions, and after adding the mac-address to my router and seeing which IP address it connected with, I was able to configure the IP address manually using firefox. I also had to enter the SSID to connect to my router. Printed from Ubuntu and WindowsXP.
Cons: I had to go to the website to look up the user guide pdf (which is what they call advanced).
Other Thoughts: So far so good, I printed from both OS's and even waited for the printer to go to power save and printed again. I'll update or post another one if I have any issues with it.

Works Pretty Well
Pros: This works pretty much flawlessly. I have a linux machine and a vista machine, and they both pretty much just worked. I set it up using the web UI, though.
Cons: It is so underpowered that it often can't render all of its gui. I think the web server must run out of memory. That said, hitting refresh corrects the problem.
Other Thoughts: I just wish I could power the printer on/off with it.

Update - it now supports AES!
Pros: It works flawlessly with my old HP Deskjet 722C after I finally got it configured.
Cons: The installation was difficult. The documentation contains several inaccurate instructions (this might have changed since I bought mine in 2006). The user guide and quick install guide on the downloads page of the Trendnet site are helpful.
Other Thoughts: The latest firmware update for the new version (B1.xR) includes support for AES encryption. I would rate it a 5 were it not for the difficulty of installation. Tech support is outside the U.S. Their English is fine, but they sound like they are reading from a script and aren't much help. Ask for the next level of tech support so you can talk to the people in California.

Super Easy Installation!
Pros: Installation was a breeze. Had it up in about 20 minutes on a WPA secured wireless network. Reading the reviews helped me avoid the pitfalls others have encountered. My ancient DesignJey 350C plotter works great.
I avoided using any of the documentation which came with the product -- simply configured my laptop on the 192.168.0 subnet, plugged in the Trendnet, configured the Trendnet's IP address and wireless settings, plugged it into my plotter, modifed my plotter config to use a TCP/IP port, and done.
I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to go wireless with one of these older HP plotters, or simply to move the plotter to a location further than their parallel cable will stretch.
Cons: None yet!
Other Thoughts: Its a prety good value - it was only slightly more than a hardwired ethernet printer server, and no cable to run!

TEW-P1PG
Pros: Nice construction, easy to configure on Lan then switch to wireless. Several different setup screens, the web based setup works best once you have communication with the device.
Cons: DOES NOT WORK with ALL PRINTERS!!! After setting up nothing would print on my Xerox XD100. Per TrendNet tech support this unit will not work with Host Based, GDI, SPL (Sumsung Printer Lang.) or CAPT (Canon Advanced Printer Lang.)
Other Thoughts: It would have been nice to know about the limitations on the parallel interface. TrendNet does have the TEW-P21G that does support GDI for Parallel printers.

Not Impressed
Pros: Easy setup for pro installers / Connects via cat5 or wireless / IP config setup / Plugs right into old school printers / Manual IP or DHCP
Cons: Frustrating install for a "pc magazine hobbyist" / Power reset is long startup / 3.38 firmware does not work well with wireless / Update firmware it will not reset back to out of the box / Set print speed from high to low/ Have to set all network equipment to same IP range as device /
(classic line in 3..2..1) If you are using Windows XP you will have to disable the built in firewall. But for all operating systems you have to disable any other form of firewall software such as Norton Internet Security, Black Ice, and ZoneAlarm
Other Thoughts: Got it setup with wireless router using both software or via IP. Went to TRENDnet website for info. Software would see device but had a issue with wireless security and SSID. Finally got past that and got a printout only to have single line of garbage. Updated printer driver, updated firmware to 3.38. See's wireless, SSID but will not print at all. Have tried it with other brands of printers with not luck.

Fantastic Product
Pros: Took under an hour for full set up to set up my entire network of computers. The directions were easy to follow as long as I used the installation cd that came with the print server.. Make sure you know your wireless router information and passwords.
Cons: I did the mistake of trying to follow Windows XP printer setup once I plugged in the printer to my network using the RJ 45 jack. Don't... follow the procedure manuale and CD provided.

Low Compatability, High Stress
Pros: I looks nice, easily hidden. Works with Canon MP470.
Cons: Initial setup was very easy. There are some printers (especially older ones) that simply will not work with this adapter. It will not work with a Canon ImageClass D680 either with original or the newest drivers. This printer does function correctly with a direct cable connection.
Other Thoughts: I've seen a lot of bad reviews for this product since I received it. I will return it and find something better.

Great product
Pros: Easy to set up. Documentation is good
Cons: Took a moment to figure out how to get WPA to work with my linksys router because they don't use the same names for the protocol Trendnet's wpa-psk is equivalent to linksys wpa personal using tpik-aes encryption. I don't know a whole lot about wireless security, so that may be just my ignorance getting in the way. Minor problem.

Worked well in my network
Pros: I had no problem setting this unit up and getting it to work with a business class page printer. The utility that came on the disk installed and ran perfectly to allow me to change the subnet setting to match ours. Then, setting up the rest via the web interface worked smoothly. Works with both wired and wireless networks.
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: A good working knowledge of TCP/IP addressing on your network will make the installation easy.

How-to make the process easy
Pros: Easy setup, fairly fast printing, direct-clip-on mounting to the parallel port of the printer (looks nice without cords), web or software install (i recomment the web)
Cons: If you set a password . . .. it seems to lock you out of the web interface. I even used a packet analyzer to determine what username the setup utility was passing . . . weird.
Other Thoughts: For the uninitiated . . . YOU DON"T NEED A DRIVER FOR THIS PRINT SERVER!!!!
I'm tired of reading that and expecially "network experts" who can't get this thing to work. ha! 1.) Plug the thing into your router (home) or switch (office) using an unsupplied ethernet cable (network cable). Use the utility to configure it. 2.) Once you configure the wireless, YOU MUST unplug the ethernet cable or you will likely lock up your network with a network loop. 3.) Make sure that you can ping it (go to the start-->run command, and type "ping [the IP address you chose in the setup]" (no quotes) 4.) Create a local printer on your computer, choose a new TCP/IP port, put in the IP address of this new print server, and pick out the driver for your printer.
That's it!

Works with Netgear wireless router and Dell 1720
Pros: Less than 2 hours from out of box to printing of document. I have a wired SMC router with a wireless Netgear router (just using the Netgear as an access point). I'm new to wireless and setup the Netgear last month. I was able to setup the TEW-P1PG straight out of the box using WEP.
Cons: None.

Configured after 4 hours of work...
Pros: Once its up and running its SWEEETTTT!!!! Plays Nicely using 128 WEP...
Cons: Took me FOUR hours of trial and error to setup my print server. (Adhoc and Infrastructer mode!!!! I could have kicked myself) TrendNet's lack of details documentation (I am a techie and I would like to have more details about the functionality in certian areas and more FAQs) What does LINK: YES mean? If you use WEP just for grins use the utility first. You will notice that it changes the case on your key... (Found this out after two hours.) I adjusted the key on my Wireless Router and all was well...
Other Thoughts: <--- Has a Comp Sci Degree and a full time Systems Admin. If you do not have a technical background, please save yourself a lot of stress. Have someone technical with a lot of time work with you on this print server. Please download the Driver/ Utility, manuals, and firmware update prior to running CD-ROM. You will find its really not needed... Keep in mind I kind of strayed from the documentation due to the fact that I wanted to setup a DHCP reservation, apply 128 WEP during the setup, and configure things with my SSID broadcast turned off. Once again I think they have a great item for the cost. If I had to get my home networked I would be looking at about $200 - $300 including labor... You cant beat $70 and 4 hours of work....

works on linux
Pros: works with ubuntu feisty, ez install: forget about the installation cd. connect with network cable first, browse over to server's ipaddress and configure. disconnect cable, connect printer, power on server, power on printer. set up with cups, http://<ipaddress>/<servername>
ez!
Cons: none so far

support saga continues
Pros: works fine on wep encryption
Cons: my support saga continues.. i finally got connected with a higher level tech support in the USA. He sent me a newer firmware that wasn't on the website. i installed it but I have the same issues - I can't connect using WPA. I left a message the next day as he was kind enough to leave me his number. He never called me back and i've waited 4 days. again terrible support.
Other Thoughts: i've tried a linksys printer server in the meantime and it wouldn't work either. linksys support were great. i did a live chat and they determined their product is not compatible with my plotter. now that is support.

Continued poor support
Pros: I already listed a review with some PROS
Cons: I continue to wait 2 and a half days to talk to someone from techsupport. To be fair after two days they called me at 5:30pm whilst I was on the way home from work. I don't understand the current support mechanism that they tell you they will call you back. I need support on my own schedule and not on theirs. I can't wait around for 2.5 days infront of my product hoping they'll help me troubleshoot it.
Other Thoughts: tech support seems overwhelmed, buyer beware.

poor support!
Pros: connects to standard routers relatively easily and was a good price for what it does. i can move a large plotter to the basement. which is great. the new ps-utility makes set up easier so well done to TN there.
Cons: I chose a poor rating as the support is awful! new firmware enabled WPA which isn't working on my network. Wep is fine. I'm not savvy enought to get it working so need help. I called support at 11am and was told by the support rep that they were too busy and would be getting a call back - at 10:40pm the same day still no call back. dropped like a hot potato. There is also no documentation out there on troubleshotting wpa issues.
Other Thoughts: I'm not entirely convinced that WPA is truly supported so be aware if this is important to you.

No Reset
Pros: Compact, easy to connect.
Cons: Bought two - one worked, one didn't. Big danger, there is no reset, so if something bad happens while changing the IP address, or if you forget the address or password, you will never get it back. Minor problem, as soon as IP address is changed it has two network paths via cable and wirelsss which may lock up entire network until you unplug antenna or LAN cable.
Other Thoughts: Using the one that worked while I look for another solution.

Do not buy
Pros: None
Cons: I have had a 4 failures out of the box on this device. The dicovery tool will not find them. I cannot get to them via a browser using the default IP Address. A guy in their support department didn't seem to know much about the device. He wanted me to press a reset button that did not exist. He then told me that he needed to research the problem and call me back. He did call me back to tell me that it needed to be escalated. I said fine, then escalate it. I was told that I needed to send an email to their support department to do that. Haven't heard anything back yet.
Other Thoughts: Guess I will have to eat 4 dead devices.

Worked for me
Pros: So far - so good.
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: After reading the horor stories from some of the reviews, I was nervous about buying one. But it installed easily for me without downloading anything from their web site. My HP1000C is now on the network. Use their tool to set it up with a LAN cable, then switch to Wireless.

Returning for a Refund ;-(
Pros: I would have some pro's if I actually got it to work.
Cons: The configuration software does not work on Vista. The device was not accessible from the default 192.168.0.1 address using ping, from my browser or from the config utility (installed on an XP laptop). The link light did not activate on the device when plugged into the network via RJ-45. Never got it to work and am RMA'ing it back for a refund. I am pretty dissapointed. Not happy with this product whatsoever.

Absolutely Terrible
Pros: It printed once or twice
Cons: Does NOT support WPA as advertised (I read up on it, and it says so on the box)! The website does not even have the same firmware that came shipped on the unit, it's even older. Trendnet tech support is 100% useless. They told me there was a forty minute wait on the phone; so I decided to wait, and after 65 minutes they hung up. I even sent an e-mail to support, and got no response. I will NEVER buy another trendnet product again. They absolutely SUCK. Stay away from this product, WEP just doesn't cut it and is too easy to crack.
Other Thoughts: See CONS stay, and away from Trendnet.

Good Print Server
Pros: Once found, easy to setup and works great. No problems with Vista 64 bit Ultimate or Home Premium.
Cons: Had to use adapter to connect to HP printer, hard to connect adapter and server all in line.
Other Thoughts: BIOSTAR T550, AMD X2 3800+ 65W, 1 GB Kingston DDR2667, MSI GEFORCE 8400GS, 250GB WD Caviar SATA, Lite-on DVD Writer, LG CD writer, Vista Home Premium

Worked with Intermec barcode printer
Pros: Much better compatibility than USB based printer servers.
Cons: Antenna will be in the back of the printer attached to the LPT port.
Other Thoughts: The installation software doesn't set the printer up correctly. Instead of configuring a network printer you need to install the printer yourself as a "local" printer and configure a TCP port. If you use it like a windows network printer it will go very, very slow.

Trendnet testing and support is poor
Pros: It had a nice box.
Cons: Will not install with my HP Color Laserjet 2550L. Trendnet support gets it's compatibility test results from D-Link, implying this is the same product with different packaging.
Other Thoughts: Stay away!

Resuscitated Old Printer
Pros: Worked with an old parallel port printer (a Canon BJC-4550, circa 1995)
Cons: Be sure to check Trendnet website for FAQ and installation instructions. Instructions bundled with unit did NOT work with Windows 2000.
Other Thoughts: Probably best wireless parallel port option out there, although a bit pricey when used with legacy printers.

Works great
Pros: Wi-Fi and 10/100 Ethernet. Compact size. Easy to configure.
Cons: Software configuration utility a bit strange.
Other Thoughts: I purcahsed this print server to work with a printer I bought at the same time. This print server is EASY to set up once you get used to the goofy software on the CD. The web utility is much better for configuration. The fact it has 10/100 wired Ethernet in addition to Wireless lets you configure the print server through a wired connection without having to turn off your WPA or WEP on your Access point. Which is the real reason I chose this product over competitors.
