Multiple Feature Printer Server
Pros: Two USB ports ,single parallel. Great for my older HP Laser-jet 4M and newer USB style printers. Indicator (activity) lights on front are a nice feature. Can be set up for just about any printing system desired.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I just bought a second one of these as a replacement for my first. The first was killed by a direct lighting strike on my home. All electronics including my main computer were zapped. Like this one so much I am making an exact replacement. No problems. However it may be too complex for the inexperienced to properly set up.

Excellent
Pros: Easiest install ever. Installed in under 5 minutes on three computers.
Cons: Didn't jump out of box and hook it self up.
Other Thoughts: Read the documentation (directions). Make sure nothing on your network has taken 192.168.0.1

Performs as expected
Pros: Performs exactly as advertised. Legacy parallel support plus two usb ports work quite well. I have purchased two. Very satisfied.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Basic knowlege of networking and TCP/IP addressing are helpful, but not a show stopper. Others complain about DHCP, but a print server should have a fixed address always.

Easy setup, good value.
Pros: No problem with setup on either the print server or the hosts. Works fine with XP and Linux (Ubuntu) hosts. Bought this after much shopping around. Found this print server to be the best value for the price.
Cons: Would be nice if it defaulted to DHCP instead of a static IP address so you wouldn't have to multihome a nic to do initial configuration.

oh well
Pros: it works but setup is alittle tricky
Cons: it only works the printer but not the scanner (if you had an all-in-one you loose the scanner function) and you need to make shure you set the ip addy to fixed and in range vista had alittle problem but you need to run the setup then reboot then setup youre printer then it works sometimes its alittle slow to do the print jobs but for the $$ you get what you pay for.

Finally Got It
Pros: After finding the manual on the CD, you can finally get this configured properly. It prints quickly.
Cons: With my Canon Pixma IP4000, the status window will not work so I have no way of knowing when I am running low on ink or which color ink has gone empty. I'm not sure if I can live with that.

Just what I needed
Pros: One of the very few print servers out there that has two USB ports and a LPT port connection. This alone severely limited my choices. This appeared to be the best of the bunch.
Has more than enough features for what I need it to do. I don't need to receive traps from the unit or have it send email messages or limit its use by certain user names...but the fact that it's capable of doing these things is kinda cool for such a inexpensive product.
The setup and configuration was very straightforward. Not sure what some of the others are complaining about....then again, I do work with this sort of thing very frequently and I do have a good grasp of networking fundamentals. I went through and setup a new static IP on it, renamed the ports to something more sensible..maybe changed some other mundane settings...and then stood it up. Worked as expected, first try.
Cons: A third USB port would have been great for future proofing....but then again, NO ONE out there that I could find making these little SOHO appliances has one with 3 USB ports and a LPT port.
I seriously can't think of anything else to ding it on. It just works and does exactly what I need it to do.
Other Thoughts: I like the little red illuminated "Print Server" indicator on the top :)

Works great but you MUST KNOW networking
Pros: Works PERFECT as a PRINT server! Low cost, 3 ports, FAST printing IF CONFIGURED PROPERLY. (see other thoughts). Worked with all the different laser printers we have on either USB or parallel port with no problems. (we don't use cheap inkjets or GDI printers here)
Cons: User must be know IP addressing - not for network admin wannabees (ie. home users). MUST be configured differently from quick start setup instructions. DON'T USE them or it will result in extremely slow network device recognition and slow printing.
Other Thoughts: I went nuts for a full day struggling with slowwww printing till I discovered this trick from another reviewer. I tried all kinds of different printers on both USB and parallel ports and got as much as a 22 second delay from clicking print till page started.
When adding a printer from a workstation DO NOT use the friendly network name such as PS-70AC43 or PRINT_SERVER as it appears in network neighborhood or network places. Use the IP address instead such as http://192.168.0.5/HP3380.
Also many newbies don't understand that a PRINT server is exactly that. It is not a scanner server. Don't expect an all in one or multi function machine to work as anything but a printer if using a print server.

Followup Review
Pros: The price, the looks, the operation once you set it up.
Cons: Like many print servers, documentation assumes people know what an IP address and DHCP is.
Other Thoughts: I'm reading the reviews. If you understand what an IP address and DHCP is,and know a little about a network, you will be able to set this up.I believe the real difficulty is, after loading your printer software on your pc,configuring the printer to use a TCP/IP port instead of using a parallel or USB port.Once you know how to do that, you are all set.Folks,it works, trust me,but i know many people give up to easy and don't take the time to read and really understand.

Easy to use - works as advertised
Pros: I needed a print server for my old HP-G85 All-in-one printer to replaced an older Print Server that failed. Tried a few with USB only ports and had to return them. This unit works great with my old printer on the Parallel port. Was easy to set-up following the instructions.
Cons: For my Windows XP Systems, printer took about 5 seconds to respond when sending a print job from my PC when I added the printer using the set-up option in manual to "Connect to this printer." Instead use the option to "Connect to a printer on the internet or on a home or office network" The url for this is: http://[ip for your Trendnet print server]/[TrendNet Printer Name]. For a typical home network using Cable or DSL and a wireless router, this is something like: http://192.168.1.254/PS-705A82-P3 When using this option, you can configure your additional PCs without having to install the TrendNet CD or load any other programs. Just use the Add Printer Wizard. Using this optin corrected the 5 second wait when printing and simplied printer installations on the additional computers I use. Printer now responds instantly for all my computers (all running Windows XP)!
Other Thoughts: Note that you will want to change the IP address for your print server. Typical home systems will assign your router: 192.168.1.1 and your TrendNet will default to this but change it to something like 192.168.1.254. If you have another device that uses .254 at the end, choose a lower number (253, 252, 251, etc.) to use a number that is not used by any other device. The subnet mask and default gateway should be the default offered. Documentation from TrendNet is not real clear on this point.

Are you experienced?
Pros: It has worked flawlessly for over a month now with the exception of one reset after an IP address conflict (went from static to dynamic). It is being used with parallel Epson receipt printers (3) . The web based interface makes it easy to remotely administer and the 3 printer ports are great... especially at this price.
Cons: It has an initial ip address instead of using dhcp. The documentation is not for the inexperienced. I took off a point for the second rate documentation.
Other Thoughts: I see a several people have had trouble with this unit but I suspect that they did not read the documentation thoroughly. You MUST read the documentation first or your experience with the product will not be positive. I have used a lot of products by Trendnet and they work great but reading the docs are a must... and even then they can be hard to understand from time to time.

Mediocre At Best
Pros: Predictable to setup and get running. Multiple USB ports are a huge plus!
Cons: My computers now take FOREVER to bring up a page setup, print preview, or print dialog box. When this box fails I will look elsewhere for another USB print server.
Other Thoughts: The box works as expected as I can now print from either computer to either my HP Color LaserJet or my HP B&W Laserjet. Since I have it connected to my Wireless router I can also print wirelessly. The HUGE delay when printing is extremely annoying however.

Pros: NONE
Cons: Not recognized on any type of network most people buy this for: e.g. home network with a router, office with a server. Trust me I've tried. Called Trendnet, though cust support based in Cali, they just walked me through the troubleshooting guide in the manual. They never called back to give me the RMA #, despite emails, calls and faxes after the initial call.
Other Thoughts: worst computer purchase I ever made. They have my $50 i paid for it, but I have not brought another product from them since.

wireles print server
Pros: none
Cons: doesn't integrate well with other brands, I have Lynksys router and could not get the print server to work. Even hired a guy who does networks to come in and he said to send it back.

Pros: Nice Design
Cons: Don’t Bother trying – Buy a network printer. Not compatible with any GDI printers. I called Trendnet prior to buying, to see if my HP OfficeJet 5610xi (Multi-Function) and Samsung ML-2010 (Laser). They said, they haven’t tested those models and if I do would you please let us know. I gave it a try with no results at all. Called tech support and I knew more after reading the 110 page manual then tier 1 support. Tier 2 - support said all Multi-Function printers will be able to print but you will lose the other functions. Pre sales said they will have a print server out in the second quarter of 07 that will support Multi-Functional printers

Not for all printers
Pros: This product helped me free up USB ports on my computer!!! I use a color laser, b/w laser and inkjet at home. I moved the b/w laser and inkjet to the print server. Now I have a couple free USB ports! Also, was very easy to set up. Even a novice can set up using the supplied CD.
Cons: Does not support all printers. PS supports bi-directional printing, but not encoded drivers. You may or may not get status information from your printer when using this product. This may prevent you from printing. DID NOT work for my Konica Minolta 2400W color laser. The print server showed my printer "offline". However, when I plugged that printer into my Linksys wireless print server and got the same response.
Other Thoughts: Good product for use with B/W Laser Printers and inkjets. Leave your high end printers plugged into your CPU.

Diasppointing
Pros: The price was reasonable and supported 2 USB ports ans one parallel port. I appreciate Newegg's support and return policy.
Cons: It didn't work with any of my printers. I called TRENDnet technical support and the list of supported printers was extremely limited.
Other Thoughts: This print server aparently doesn't use that standard printing protpcols.

Egghead should drop this product
Pros: Typical great Newegg service.
Cons: Ran through the setup (said it was successful) but the product did not work. * The software setup is NOT easy and does NOT work. * Installation documentation is short and very poor, almost useless. * Several different manuals included on CD but NOT for this product. * Tried anyway to read the manual but the English was so poor that I gave up.
Other Thoughts: I see several reviews from folks who have made this work. I'm sure they have a better understanding of networking than I do. How many average users know how to change the IP address in their router? I would not recommend this product to the average user.
I am a long time Egghead / Newegg customer and really like dealing with these good folks but I recommned they drop the Trendnet line.

Works for all printers and MFC
Pros: I've had these installed in multple sites for more than 2 years. They work with everything - printers, scanners, and yes, my multifunction devices. They are straightforward and can have a static IP address assogned to them to fit into your network topography
Cons: Wish it had more ports. With is supported the software monitoring of printer status, especially ink levels of color printer.
Other Thoughts: Umm, put everything a surge protector. After a power outage it may need to be re-set, unplug it and plug it back in. I use on large and small networks alike. Works great for traveling teams who need to share resources in a hurry.

Nice Device, Good price
Pros: Installation, setup and management of the Print Server itself is fairly simple. Compact design, with the benefit of allowing you to connect multiple printer to it. Trendnet tech support pretty responsive to questions.
Cons: The issue I have is actually with Trendnet tech support. Although they were responsive, they need to do some additional work around what devices they support, especially for an All-In-One printer. For example, Trendnet tech support said they did not support the HP Officejet 5510 All-In-One because if you connect it to the print server it can't fax or scan. Turns out you can fax just fine, but yes you can not scan. However given print, copy and fax work, 3 out of 4 ain't bad. I found out that the trick with an AIO is to find out the "printer" driver it uses and not to use the AIO driver that came with it. I did send Trendnet tech support a link to info on using HP AIO printers that I found on an HP website in Germany, so it is not really a hack. Once I got beyond that (and the strange way you install an LPR printer on XP) everything worked fine. I have 2 desktops (1 XP & 1 W98), 4 laptops (3 XP and 1 W98) and a Solaris server running CUPS all talking to it just fine.

Great Prinserver with MAC OS X and 9.x
Pros: Great print server! The only one on the market that actually supports Mac OS 9 as well as Mac OS X. Works flawlessly with the PC.
Cons: Takes a bit of work to configure on a Mac. Not for the average joe but if you have some understanding of networks and ports then you could definately install this print server.
Other Thoughts: The best print server I have owned (about 5 total in my life). Replaced a Hawking print server that was usless. Never was relilable. So far the Trendnet print server is great and no flaws what so ever. Way to go Trendnet!!!!

Pros: Has a good number of ports.
Cons: Poor administration utility and default static IP at 192.168.0.1 makes setup difficult in networks with other subents. Even when told to use DHCP, it is very slow, and its use of SMB instead of LPR for printer sharing makes it less effecient than it could be.
Other Thoughts: Definitely don't get it.

Great print server - had to get right printer drivers
Pros: The print server install was cake, I was able to just plug in and print test pages from the p.s. web utility in minutes. It's very simple to set up and use.
Cons: The _hard_ part are the printer's themselves (this is probably what frustrates people the most about print servers), I have an HP OfficeJet 5110 (All-in-one) and had to install drivers for a OJ V45 to get my printer to work properly. I was on with HP tech support for about an hour (3 different ppl) and they told me I couldn't do what I wanted to but I did it. I can now print to the 5110 from WinXP and my Macbook running Mac OS X (10.4).
Other Thoughts: Check that your Printer is "network" capable before buying any print server. Also for the All-in-one products you will probably not be able to share all of it's capabilities over a print server but I'm still working on that as well.

OK Print Server
Pros: No problem installing the server and the configuration software for XP worked fine for my NEC laser with a parallel port. I just configured a new WiFI XP laptop for the same printer/server without a problem by downloading the configuration software from the Trendnet site.
Cons: No documentation or software for Linux. I was unable to install it. RedHat recongnized the print server but I could not figure out hot to direct output to the printer port. It is slow as mentioned, but I don't print very much.
The server stopped working after a power outage at the house. I had to reconfigure (run install software) to get it working again.
Other Thoughts: Given the low ratings I'm not sure why I bought it. There are better choices but I don't plan on replacing it.

Does not work with my Epson R2400
Pros: Bought this model because of two USB2.0 ports.
Cons: It does not work with Epson R2400. When a station tries to communicate with the printer, this server hangs over.
Other Thoughts: Unortunately this item is not eligible for New Egg's RMA. I just wasted my money.

Failed in 10 minutes
Pros: Printer server installtion was easy. Seems to print fast with USB 2.0 printer (Epson R800)
Cons: I was in the middle of testing and I heard a pop - I looked up and the printer server lights were out. Newegg does not handle the RMA for this.

Tasty Print Server
Pros: This print server is easy to configure, performs as advertised, and won't cause you endless hours of frusturation.
Cons: Delivery took 6 days for the "3 day shipping". What happened to Fed Ex delivery, which was always fast? Now we're stuck with UPS.
Oh, regarding the print server, it sure beats *inksys products.
Other Thoughts: I configured six machines on a LAN to use one USB printer attached to this print server. One computer had issues - couldn't find the print server. It took me 10 minutes to figure out that it was an issue with the built-in Nivida Active Armor firewall. I switched back to the Windows XP firewall, and no more problems.

A server that works...
Pros: Nice, simple to use unit. Plugged it in, followed the instructions, and punched in the proper ###'s to locate the printer on the network. Easy as 123.
Cons: none at this time, only had it for a little over a month. But, I don't see any problems to be. Those usually pop up within a few hours if not right away with electronics.
Other Thoughts: No dissapointments here. I like the prices Newegg, Even if you aren't always the lowest, you always deliver what you say and make it easy to find.

Great product at a great price!
Pros: Simple setup, 2 USB and 1 parallel port.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: No print server that I know of can handle a multi-function machine. Other reviews comment on this, however it is not a problem with this device, it is the way these pieces of hardware work!

Excellent print server!
Pros: This print server is so easy to set up. I have a home office with an HP Laserjet 1100A and six networked machines, all of which can now easiy print to this laserjet as the default printer. Web interface provided was also very clear, very easy to configure and get settings.
Cons: Out of the six machines, I think I only had two in which the PS-Utility couldn't automatically discover the print server; however, every machine could still access the web interface and add the printer using the \\server\printer notation. So no worries.
Other Thoughts: Wonderful product overall. Very happy with this. It sure beats the old-school method of using a mechanical parallel printer switch which I had set up between two of my machines, and on my main machine, sharing the printer using Windows.

The Good, The Bad, and The Interesting...
Comments: After a little while bit of tinkering this server performed well. It printed fast from my XP machine, but for some reason a little slower from my ME machine. This one could be Bad for a beginner to install. The GOOD, is it actually works well on my network. The interesting was figuring out the right drivers to use with my HP PSC 2210. That took some time, but once I found one that worked, it ran fine. Thanks Newegg!!!

Useless
Comments: Setup was easy, performance is worthless though. takes forever to print or access print setings. Had 2 printers attached; HP DesignJet430 & HP Deskjet9650. Have thrown away this product and bought a HP Jetdirect server, works great.
