Pros: I like that microsoft is comeing out with new things but vista should not be out until they fix it

Cons: They need to not but vista in any of the laptops

Other Thoughts: I think a laptop should not have vista. because my home computer went dead and i had to rebuild it.

Rating + 3 not worth it

Pros: small light and can even play some games like transformers, directx 10, 256mb video card if update driver. intregated wireless card acer is a good company

Cons: celoron cpu the worst of the intel series it does not have speed step so you battery life is only two hours, vista home basic not premuim, 512 ram not good for vista recommend 2gb, single core, intel 945 graphics can't play alot of games like lost planet

Other Thoughts: if you are looking for a laptop get a dual core, if intel get speedstep a nvidia or ati graphics card 7 or 8 series get two gigs of ram. 1 gb does not cut it for vista it like 256 on xp. and if you want vista get home premuim if you like computer entertainment.

Pros: Best machine for the money on the market. Extremely durable. Nice display. Light weight. Runs great on xp home or pro. No DOA's in 30 orders.

Cons: Vista runs awful on this machine. Battery could last longer.

Other Thoughts: You can order the xp recovery set from acer. Part#SD.TDX00.002

Pros: Cheap
Cheap
Cheap
Works.

Cons: 1 to 1hr 30 on battery. Would prefer a movie watchable 2.

Other Thoughts: Added another 512mb, Vista is useable now. As much as I love Newegg, I'm wondering why I can buy this at Walley World with a 1.86ghz processor for $399? Drop you prices guys!!!

Rating + 5 An outstanding Bargain

Pros: Lightweight, nice keyboard, amazing wireless range, adequate number of USB ports, PRICE, PRICE, PRICE and did I mention PRICE!

Cons: I could list several cons, but none that would be fair when you consider the price of this laptop. I installed an extra 1GB SIMM, totaling 1.5GB's of RAM and Vista still took 90 minutes to completely install. Unfortunately, some custom software I use at my office would not work with Vista and had to have the IT guy install XP Pro (which runs considerably faster than Vista).

Other Thoughts: I needed a smaller, lighter weight laptop (current Acer laptop has a 17" screen and is way too big for traveling). The TM2480 fit the bill perfectly. Like so many others, mine came with a 120GB HD. I am truly stunned how much hardware I got, for the money, with this laptop. I used the rebate (2 Andrew Jackson's) to purchase the 1GB Crucial DDR2 RAM. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. XP Pro runs like a dream.

Rating + 5 Great afordable laptop

Pros: I bought this laptop for school and so far am very happy with it. Thanks to many reviews on this site, I also ordered pqi 1GB 200-Pin DDR2 memory chip and put it in rght away. The speed is great and wireless worked great so far. You can't beat the price, but do get addl memory. Newegg service great as always, super fast shipping!

Cons: Not really a con, but I am conidering getting an extra battery as the one the laptop came with lasts about 2 hours only. But that's something you can expect when you pay less than $500

Other Thoughts: Overall great deal!

Rating + 4 Awesome value

Pros: Nice physical quality, does everything I expected.

Cons: Mouse and scroll clicks are very loud. The AC adapter gets burning hot when the laptop is charging. Batery only lasts about an hour and a half with CPU and scren brightness at 100%.

Other Thoughts: Vista runs well as long as you remember to include the combo deal for 512MB free ram.

Rating + 4 Not bad if you dump Vista

Pros: Low price. Works quite well with Windows XP, and ok with Ubuntu Linux once you get the drivers set up. Like others, mine came with a 120 GB hd instead of the advertised 80 GB. Nice hardware for the price.

Cons: Windows Vista is slow, and this computer wasn't meant to run it. (It might be ok if you upgrade the memory, which I haven't yet.)
If you plan to install Linux, it may take a little effort to get all the drivers installed and running like they should. The wireless card seems to be the biggest issue in Linux (I still have problems with it sometimes).

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this unless you plan to upgrade the memory or dump Vista. If you're going to run XP it works great.

Rating + 5 Great value for the money!

Pros: Received a unit with a 100 GB HD, instead of stated 80.Widescreen. Looks more expensive than it really is. Ergonomic curved keyboard. Good build quality. Built in card reader. New Egg just dropped price by $20. For the features, you just can't beat this price.

Cons: Slow on Windows basic with only 512 GB of memory. Must use at least 1 GB total memory-- 1.5 or 2 is even better. Battery life is weak. I would estimate that you're only going to get about 1:30 tops. Bottom line if you're going to be doing a lot of work off the grid for extended periods: buy another battery so you can swap out.

Delete Norton because it really slows things down. Much faster without.

Other Thoughts: This is a great value for the money. It's not a speed demon, nor is it made for gaming. However, if you're looking to surf the net, do e mail, watch movies, play music, and do MS Office stuff this laptop will get it done.

As other have said, get additional memory. New Egg has 1GB sticks for less than $40. They also have a discount on a combo deal that has a 512 GB stick-- the list price and combo price are the same-- so it's basically a free upgrade. Vista gets a bad rap, IMHO. Throw in another 1 GB of memory and you're fine. Be prepared to wait for about 30-40 minutes at first startup while it installs everything. Install new memory AFTER initial install. Change bios (F2 on boot) to go from 64MB of memory to 128 MB after new memory install. Once new memory installed and everything configured, system is responsive and not slow.

Pros: Price, weight, dimenssions, versatility.

Cons: Factory 512MB, and after XP install had to get audio and NIC drivers from Acer-uk web site. The US site is terrible

Other Thoughts: Came with 100GB drive! I put a clean XP Pro sp2, added 1GBram, and use it everyday at work in a 4 floor building. Wireless works great. My best Newegg deal yet.

Rating + 5 Great notebook, ignore the nonesense.

Pros: Great notebook. Bright screen, lightweight, quality Acer build. Celeron M is really a Pentium M design with plenty of cache - 1 MB instead of 2, noticeably faster than my previous Turion 64 at 1.8 Ghz. Cool and quiet running. Acer is a great company - just about the only computer manufacturer I still trust to give good support. Vista gives mediocre performance on my dual boot C2D desktop -- how is supposed to work on an affordable laptop like this? Don't hit Acer for bloatware. As for the the contention that the wireless won't work with XP Pro -- it's nonsense. Been running Pro almost 24/7 for more than a over 6 weeks after pulling Vista and the wireless works perfectly, not a single connection problem. Mine came with a 120GB 7200rpm drive! How's that for a good deal.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Go to Acer's global English site to get the drivers. You need to install the broadcom wireless software and drivers. There are about 4 different wireless software packages -- if you don't know what you are doing and expect this to work with software for a different wireless adapter of course it won't work.

Pros: lightweight, good screen, versatile, price, 120GB HD

Cons: Vista, Vista, Vista and XP, 512RAM and ACER as a company!!!

Other Thoughts: Vista is really bad, BUT if you go to XP Pro, the wireless card (BCM4318) will not work. I have installed 5-8 drivers for days. I called Acer and they confirmed it will ONLY work on preinstalled ACER WIN XP (not retail XP) or with Vista. BAD BAD BAD

Pros: great weight, attractive, good screen, upgradable to 4GB RAM, 120GB HD even though it says 80, cost

Cons: Vista makes this thing really bad. Like most people i bought extra 1GB RAM (total of 1.5) and Vista crashed regularly. ARGH! But they did provide an upgrade cd to Vista.

Other Thoughts: I installed XP which was a PAIN! You have to go to Acer.com and reinstall ALL the drivers one at a time manually. This was the worst part!

Rating + 5 Great for the Price

Pros: For the price it's hard to beat this laptop. Features that are very nice: low glare screen, decently fast celeron processor (as long as you aren't gaming it should be more than enough), 120 GB hard drive, strong WiFi, decent battery life (about 4 hours with XP in max life mode), excellent hardware support for XP.

Cons: Like others have mentioned, 512 MB of RAM is just insufficient in this day and age. If you aren't going to upgrade out of the box, then install XP in place of Vista. Put in another GB of RAM.

Other Thoughts: This is a great computer for anyone who does not plan on gaming. I have used it to program as well as basic tasks, and it has been up to the challenge each time. For those of you wondering about installing Linux on it: It can be a bit of a pain to get the WiFi drivers installed and operating. Battery life decreases a bit under Linux again due to the lack of driver support. Overall though, you could make much worse choices than to put Linux on this machine.

Pros: Lightweight, decent performance, good screen, good keyboard, great for all tasks except heavy-duty gaming or engineering/cad.

Cons: None noted after 3 weeks.

Other Thoughts: One thing to beware of - no CD's included, Vista gets installed on first bootup from hidden files. Don't make my mistake and cancel because you think it's taking too long. Just wait it out, else you'll need to figure out how to do a system restore.

Rating + 5 Great stuff, except for Vista

Pros: I'm a big fan of Acer products. I have built all my own desktops for a while, but I've owned a number of Acer laptops and one Acer desktop and I've been very happy with all of them - this is no exception. It is small, light, very well designed, looks great, and has excellent features for the price. As others have pointed out there is actually little difference in terms of design and performance between a Celeron M and a Pentium M. Celeron is a dirty name for many, but this is a very respectable CPU - so ignore the name. I also received a unit with a 120GB HDD - nice plus. Acer support is excellent - which in this day and age is a big deal. Also, Acer uses industry standard hardware, unlike another big name PC maker that tries to make everything proprietary so that you have to shell out big bucks if anything breaks.

Cons: Vista. The 512MB RAM is insufficient, but I won't blame Acer, I blame MS. I have the latest version of OSX running on a 3 year old G4 1.3 Ghz ibook with 512MB and it runs perfectly. The Vista basic - Ulitmate Aero distinction is a joke. Basic has Aero in it, it is just disabled, so the basic version doesn't actually run any faster, you just need 128MB of Video memory for Aero, then you've got the same thing, but all other resource requirements are essentially the same. I installed XP, Ubuntu, and SUSE on the laptop and all ran very well. XP had the best hardware support by far - all the necessary drivers are on the Europe Acer site. If you want to use Vista I strongly suggest using vLite to create a new Vista DVD without all of the junk. macs have allowed you to enable and disable install components forever, why couldn't MS do this? Using vLite I disabled over 2GB of useless drivers for every printer in the world and all those languages I use everyday - like Mandarin.

Other Thoughts: I did upgrade the ram in the end. A Gig of Transcend for 30 bucks was too hard to pass up. It runs in dual channel mode with the included Hynix chip which is a big plus. Using vLite to create a new Basic disk helped a lot. The system loads much, much faster and actually runs decently well, but I'm still very strongly leaning towards reinstalling XP. I just think it is still a much better OS at this point for those of us who actually need to do serious work with our hardware and software and aren't impressed with the a wow! that is very pretty but very buggy.

Pros: Obviously not the top of the line computer but is just what I was looking for. Small, light, quiet, and runs everything I need it to. Bright Screen. Suprisingly, I like Vista.

Cool little computer for a great price.

Cons: Runs well with 1.5 GB Ram, which didn't cost that much.

Other Thoughts: Don't bother with the Easy Transfer Companion. It took forever and most programs didn't transfer anyways. Much quicker to just install the programs on the new computer. Standard Easy Transfer worked well to transfer all files and settings over to the new computer.

Rating + 4 really good computer

Pros: Solid. good keyboard.battery runs almost 2 hours. 5 stars for the acer empowering technology. acer signal up works great (it boost the 802.11 "g" signal about 20 feets more). acer Dasp (great feature for the paid price). main job for this computer will be coding and compiling stuff. no games. no big eye candies.(personal recommendation)when you make your order, try to add 512 MB ram more.

Cons: windows vista with only 512 mb of ram. no recovery disk, you need to run the backup empowering software to create 6 cdrs, or use an external dvdburner; other option, is to implement iscsi on your network adding the device to make only 1 dvd (recommended).

Other Thoughts: My respect to newegg. Always a pleasure to make business with this entity in computer components. Thanks

Rating + 5 Great Starter

Pros: Cheap, Small, Great Starter Laptop. Great initial quality, I tried 5 different operating systems on there and it didn't complain once :-P

I just hope it withstands the test of time.

Cons: "You get what you pay for." Given that, I think I definitely got my money's worth. It's not the best laptop ever, but that's to be expected. There's nothing in particular I don't like about it.

Other Thoughts: This was my first laptop and I am very pleased with it.

I never even booted the Vista. First boot I put Ubuntu 7.0 on there and it's working great. Only trouble I had was getting the wireless going, but I *did* get it going. Much better match for the hardware.

Rating + 5 Even Better Than the Description!

Pros: The actual hard drive that came equipped on mine was also 120 GB...and not the listed 80 GB. Nice bonus!!

Stays so cool, it doesn't even help warm me up in an air-conditioned room--at all! I've so far always been able run my Acer atop my lap for over six hours without ever suffering the usual pain of laptop-charred legs. It seriously barely gets warm at all.

Certainly does not feel like it weighs over five pounds. My battery has consistently kept the machine running between 2.5 and 3 hours.

Cons: Vista is definitely not a good OS choice for this machine as is--it sometimes seems as if the whole OS is being run over a dial-up connection.

I've found that K/Ubuntu 6 and 7 and Fedora Core 6 seem to run nicely on the standard 512MB of memory provided. Seems the battery doesn't fit the laptop seamlessly, but it's certainly in no danger of becoming detached of its own volition...

Other Thoughts: Built in card reader is rather handy, but there may not be Linux drivers for it--I'm not sure, as I haven't tried it in Linux yet.

Slight curve to the keyboard isn't as annoying as I had expected, and in fact is slightly better suited to my natural typing position than the standard straight keyboard layout. Something to consider, depending on your preference...

As always, arrived quickly and safely.

Pros: Can't beat the price that is set by NewEgg.com Comes with Vista Basic that I have worked the Registry to turn on Windows Aero. Works great with Office 2007 and minor graphics games will run good. (Minor like quake and doom)

Cons: Only 512mb is completely junk. You MUST upgrade to at least 1gb. I threw another 1gb chip along side the 512 that it comes with... works great! The screen doesn't give you vivid and ultra bright colors... probably a good thing if you are going to be typing on it for long periods of time. The battery life is about 2 hours... could stand to be upgraded. I haven't yet but that is one thing that I plan to do.

Other Thoughts: I was nervous buying this Acer due to the price and the amount of demand that I'm going to put on it... however this laptop performs great once you upgrade the ram. Now with an added gb of ram I have turned on windows aero so I have the side bar (I use the side bar). With this added drag on the system it still performs! I also stream movies over a LAN for my son and it hasn't skipped a beat yet! Buy with confidence. I have not seen a better price yet.

Pros: Price is great! Plus Newegg offers different combo's with this so it is a good chance to get some free stuff. Lighweight, nice sleek design!

Cons: Who were they kidding with only 512MB RAM With Vista? That is a joke. This thing is very sluggish with stock 512MB. There is alot of useless junk installed that starts when the computer starts, slowing things down even more.

Other Thoughts: If you get this definately upgrade to at least 1GB Ram. 512 will just drive you nuts. Uninstall all the useless junk, make boot time faster! I have gotten 3 of these now for customers. All upgraded to 1GB by my recomendation. They run good that way! But this laptop! Oh yeah, and NEWEGG Rocks!

Rating + 5 Really nice.

Pros: Nice product. Nothing wrong since I've got it, works good, perfect for you if you are not a gamer or a designer, celeron M 1.6Ghz is enough for documents, internet, movie, music, and some light games.

Cons: 512 is not enough for vista, I bought a 1G and I have now 1.5G of Ram, but if you really want to use a vista fast, you need somemore, 2G+ I guess, otherwise you can install a XP and use 512 of RAM, VISTA is nothing better than XP.

Other Thoughts: I've got it with 120G of hard drive, too. and it was in 2 partitions, one for OS, one for DATA. keyboard is curved, some says that it takes some time to get used to it, but I think it's nothing different with the regular keyboard. Celeron is fine, you don't need a Core2 Duo for surfing internet, This is nice enough with average users.

Pros: 1. Nice Design of TravelMate
2. Nice keyboard & track pad.
3. Decent performance
4. Huge HD(somehow came with 120GB)
5. More than average solid build

Cons: 1. They really should've not put Vista Home by default. It took about 30minute + to initialize the first start up & sluggish on default setting.
2. However, that problem will go away once the system gets 1GB + memory
3. Graphic card could be a bit better (Intel GMA 950 would've been nicer)

Other Thoughts: This is absolutely value killer for average user's daily computing need.
Not sure about any other units, but my particular order came with 120GB hard drive, instead of 80GB as advertised. Anyone else got the same upgrade?

Pros: It's good for when you are on the run and for basic users. Easy to use.

Cons: Doesn't have enough memory to work Vista completely effectively. Is pretty slow to boot up.

NOT A POWER HOUSE BUT WASN'T EXPECTING THAT. GREAT FOR ALL AROUND BASIC USE

Cons: SCREEN IS A LITTLE SMALL, BUT NICE AND BRIGHT, AND GOOD CLARITY

Other Thoughts: BUY IT!

Rating + 4 An ergonomic little notebook

Pros: Price; Design; Ergonomic keyboard; quiet work

Cons: Insufficient RAM memory with Vista; the slower Intel Celeron Mobile processor; the sound output; the "cheaper" feel of the optical drive.

Other Thoughts: This is a very well priced notebook that can work pretty well after some needed RAM upgrade (Newegg is selling an additional 512-MB RAM chip for 30 bucks only; I'd recommend buying a 1-GB Corsair chip for additional 60 bucks. You need, btw, a 200-pin DDR2 533 Mhz PC2 4200 SO-DIMM). Vista works a bit slowly on this Acer, but after upgrading your RAM, it should speed up significantly and you should be able to upgrade the OS to Home Premium or to Ultimate, should you wish to use some of the eye-candy that they offer. The keyboard feels good to the touch and the machine works very quietly. The optical drive feels a bit cheap, though, in contrast to the overall rather luxury design of the notebook. This laptop is ideal for basic tasks and with some RAM upgrade can even handle well some heavier resource-hungry products, such as the Vista Aero interface, etc.

Rating + 5 Good for the money!

Pros: The Screen size is very nice, wide screen. The keyboard is curved to aid in proper use and less strain. The pointing device is great! Large, user friendly and the center scrollbutton is a great idea.

Cons: First of all, 512MB of memory is not enough... period. I took the advice of an earlier reviewer and ordered the full two Gigs. Man what a difference. At this time I have no complaints (cons). I got what I paid for, added memory and feel I now have more than I paid for.

Other Thoughts: I and my wife will use this computer mainly for browsing net and email. Not for games. I doubt it will be good for gaming. But it serves the purpose. Shipping was thee days, and nothing was broken. Not always the case, but shippers are to blame for that. I'm very happy with my purchase this time and everytime for many past years with New Egg!

Rating + 1 Not as good as they say

Pros: The price, the size

Cons: The combo drive was broken in one weeks after I got it. And I need to pay for the shipping of mail-in service. Is it right to pay for the shipping even if they send me a bag of trash?
The wireless network didn't work well also. It dropped from time to time. I don't have such problem with my old TOSHIBA notebook at the same work place.

Other Thoughts: I won't recommend ACER to anybody. I would rather spend more money on other brands.

Pros: Not too big, not too small. Decent price.

Cons: Way too slow with 512MB RAM. Might try upgrading to 1GB to see what happens.

Other Thoughts: Could be a decent system, but not with Vista and 512MB RAM.

Cons: Shipping this with Vista and 512MB is some kind of joke. It is unuseable as shipped. Literally 3x faster with 1GB.

Rating + 5 ACER T/M2480-2779

Pros: Great for the price........I bought it as a "throw-away" just to learn about VISTA. I'm not into gaming so that's not a factor in rating. So far I'm very pleased. don't think I've wasted my purchase.
Didn't mess with IE.....went right away with FireFox.
Except for battery, ACER puts together a good package.

Cons: Battery life............2 hours max according to the built-in software

Other Thoughts: Based on other reviews I installed 2GB RAM from the git-go.
Seems like this would be a good start-up notebook for a beginner/student, etc.
Needless to say, NEWEGG is one of the finest online merchants!

Pros: I think this computer is very good for the money, and vista is so-so. Give it about 6 months and it will be great. I like the fact that you don't have to install drivers because vista finds them for you.

Cons: The only reason this is a 4 instead of a 5 is because I didn't spend the money to buy a 5.

Other Thoughts: This computer is better than you should expect for the money. It does everything the average user needs, and if you're on the border line between this and a dell or something (like I was) you'll be pleasently surprised with this computer.

Pros: It's a light laptop. Nice style. Good wireless capabilities. Nice security features. Vista works ok on this laptop.

Cons: Vista is a little slow but it runs ok. Do not keep vista on here if you plan to run games such as World of Warcraft. I had many video issues. Hopefully they have a updated driver. Buy memory for this laptop if you wish to continue to use vista (if you can even add more).

Other Thoughts: The hard drive is 100Gb but is split into 2 drives (50Gb ea) which isnt really a problem at all. Keep the laptop on a flat surface so it doesnt get as hot. Also make sure to get 6 cd-r disc for the acer backup utility.

Rating + 4 Great value laptop

Pros: Great value laptop for a basic user. Looks pretty cool. Came with a 120GB hard drive instead of the 80GB advertised. Good deal even if I don't get the rebate.

Cons: Doesn't come with enough memory. Vista (even home basic) runs much better with at least 1GB. Some of the Acer stuff that comes pre-installed is junky.

Other Thoughts: Got this for my wife to do email, web, and some light photo and web editing. I upgraded to 2GB of RAM (NewEgg Item # N82E16820231118.) Also got rid of most of the pre-installed Acer junk. Overall my wife is very happy with it, and I'm happy that she can stay away from my gaming box. :)

Rating + 5 Great for basic user!

Pros: I bought this for my sister who is a very basic user. She loves it. It's light and nice for its price point.

Cons: Vista basic isn't as pretty as premium, but with 512k of RAM it's probably just fine. REMEMBER - BASIC USER!!!

Other Thoughts: I'm thinking of picking up one of these for office presentations. It's a nice little package that you just can't beat with a bat because then it would shatter. Buy it. NEWEGG IS AWESOME!

Rating + 4 Good laptop, bad OS

Pros: Good laptop for the price, good battery life, good keyboard. I got a 120 gig not a 80 gig for some reason, thanks newegg XD.

Cons: I took off vista, and when i did that i had to install all the drivers again cause windows xp is stupid. When i installed the blue tooth one i wasn't sure if it worked, I'm still not sure if it works. I tried to connect my phone but it didn't work, but i didn't spend much time with it. There's a big black bar at above the lcd which is pretty annoying, its there become other versions had a camera there. The 4 buttons at the top are pretty cool, the only one for me that works is the internet one, i which i could customize the other ones. I don't get the middle click button, its just what the arrows do? Is there something I'm not getting? It came with 2 drivers for some reason, split equaly in half, so i put them together when i put xp on it.

Other Thoughts: Even though i wrote down alot of cons, they are small ones, and more personal i guess. I'd recommend this laptop if you don't have alot of money. But i also recommend formatting the HDD, and put xp on enless vista is better by then(sp1, sp2?)

Rating + 4 Very Nice

Pros: VERY light weight. Wide screen display is very nice. system works great.

Cons: Vista is a memory hog, and this laptop only comes with 512MB - Add a stick of 512 or larger to maximize performance.

Other Thoughts: The laptop gets very slow when on battery. So much that during boot the laptop took almost 15 minutes to get to the desktop. change the power saving settings to performance mode and add ram and you will not notice this as much.

Rating + 4 Good Deal: Learn to use VISTA!

Pros: Cheap, lightweight, fairly quick.

Cons: Did not come with enough memory installed.

Other Thoughts: To all the VISTA crybabies: VISTA handles memory very differently than all other operating systems before: It uses almost all available free ram in CACHE and releases it as it is needed for programs to boot. Many programs are not really VISTA READY as advertised, but the memory management is actually a cool idea. Do some research before complaining,

Rating + 4 Maybe it is Vista

Pros: I like how light it is. I like how it auto detect networks and i was online already without me doing anything. (neighbor didn't put password on wireless network i guess haha).

Cons: hum...maybe it could be Vista that is making it a little sluggish. The first thing i did buying this Laptop is also getting 2 Gig of ram and sticking in it. So i got no problem on RAm running Vista, but it was still a little sluggish if i start running more than a few applications.

Other Thoughts: I guess it could be the CPU...but no clue.

Pros: this thing runs great you have to expect vista to be different when it first comes out just wait for the service packs and it will be very reliable

Cons: windows recommends at least 1 GB of RAM when running vista just purchase at least a 512 chip and you'll be in great shape

Other Thoughts: don't listen to these guys that are installing vista the laptop is designed for vista so keep it there it just like trying to upgrade from 98 to XP on an old PC it sucks leave vista on this laptop and as i said before by more RAM

Pros: Very well put together laptop. I love how light it is and it just feels good using it.

Cons: VISTA! In my opinion it is not close to being ready and as other reviewers have stated it hogs the memory bad, my laptop goes up to 90% mem usage at the desktop.

Other Thoughts: If you get this you wont be disappointed, just buy another 512MB stick of memory or bigger if you want.

Pros: well it works pretty good no complains there just as other sad vista is not for this laptop, no driver issues with xp pro does not get that hot, battery life is a ok not impressive but not that terrible

Cons: didnt find many cons for the price
guess amount of ram, VISTA

Other Thoughts: bought it because i dropped my old toshiba and it kinda didnt take it that well had to send it for warranty, no need in expensive machine so i found the cheapest one, be honest i expected much less from it but ou well it does the job , i ran some diagnostic tools for electric currents on my job and it worked pretty fast with these programs, also movies and some music no problems 2.

Rating + 4 Not bad

Pros: The laptop's pretty lightweight, very sturdy structure, widescreen, excellent internal wireless that's located on the top of the monitor so I never miss a signal anywhere. Love the quiet keyboard too, nice to press.

Cons: Slow processor, wish battery lasted a tad bit more. Vista was painfully slow so I had to reformat it with XP Pro and got all the drivers off of the acer site, works very well now. Laptop mouse click is pretty loud, minor inconvenience though.

Other Thoughts: It's definitely not a performance machine but it's perfect for business/school where I can just take around for simple internet use/word processing/music. Don't use the Vista it came with though, reformat it with XP as soon as you get it, because it runs horrible with only 512MB memory

Rating + 3 Not a gaming machine!

Pros: Compact form factor, lightweight, bright screen once adjusted using the "Fn" key and arrows. Has the right features the average user might need for today's environment such as WiFi,5 in 1 card reader, video out..etc

Cons: Slow Intel Celeron M processor. Took about an hour to setup and configure Windows Vista. AMD might be a better choice if available.

Other Thoughts: Installing Firefox will make the internet experience alot quicker and more secure. Adobe Acrobat Reader is good thing to install. Use Nero ShowTime for movies found online. Might want to adjust the touchpad speed and click rate.

This laptop would make a good gift for a college student in need or a traveler not wanting to spend alot for a machine.

This machine is slow yet decent enough to suit my current needs for the cost as a student.

Pros: widescreen is nice, great keyboard and touchpad, 3 usb ports, combo-drive, wifi, lan, and modem. i got a 100GB drive!!! a nice bonus, considering all the manuals and online specs say its supposed to have an 80GB drive.

Cons: no bluetooth, vista crashed and would not come out of sleep, plus vista likes alot more than 512MB ram.

Other Thoughts: put xp on it and got all the drivers off the acer site, and now the thing rocks.

Rating + 4 Great for the price

Pros: Well constructed, ergonomic, perfect size for mobility. The screen looks nice and the resolution is great. The Celeron Processor is speedy enough for non gaming applications. The 1MB cache makes up for a slightly slower clock speed. This is a very nice looking laptop, if that matters to you. It is also very lightweight. This is a lot of laptop for not much ca$hola!

Cons: First boot up took FOREVER! Vista needs a lot of time to configure itself. I could have installed XP or Linux twice in the time it took. Also runs Vista very Slooooow. Microsoft's new OS seems to hog almost all the RAM just to run itself. Task Manager shows 2% of processor being used and a whopping 384 MB of memory being used, RUNNING NO APPLICATIONS!

Other Thoughts: This is an excellent piece of hardware! I am not sold on Vista yet, but Acer has done everything right. I intend to install at least 512 MB more RAM.

Pros: For the price, you can't beat a laptop with these specifications. The wireless works very well and I'm pleased with the overall quality of the product.

Cons: With vista it is very slow, but after adding another gig it ran very well. The battery could stand lasting a bit longer though.

Other Thoughts: I still think I'm gonna put XP on it. Very little of my software works on Vista.

Pros: I have a computer Resale Shop and I sell Acers ALL the time! This is a very nice laptop... you do have to increase the processor speed, though, when you get it, or else it will seem like it is running REAL SLOW! But they are very good, and out of all the laptop brands I sell, Acer is my favorite! They have great prices and great quality (speed, design and usage)! Just a thought... if you buy Acer, get an AMD instead of a Intel and you will REALLY BE IMPRESSED!!

Cons: No cons! Other then it is a Intel! ;) (Go AMD!)

Other Thoughts: none!
