very good for older dell
Pros: Dropped temps from 160f-170f to 120f-130f on a older dell inspiron 600m.
Its blue.
Fans look replaceable if one fails.
Speedfan shows the fan speeds.
Cons: um... nothing...
Other Thoughts: I purchased this for a family member who has a older dell inspiron 600m, that she refuses to get rid of. It was running a little slower, so I originally upgraded the ram on it from 512mb to 2gb and that helped but then the problem turned out to be heat, as she plays a lot of facebook aps that push the processor in this little dell to the max, turning up the heat. I bought this for her and it has helped quite a lot.
I just bought a laptop from newegg, that is very close in the same color, if it has heat problems I will probably buy this laptop cooler to match color.
Oh very good shipping/processing, ordered Tuesday morning, received on Thursday afternoon.

Quit after two months
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: The receptacle inside the fan has come loose and is shorting out. If I push on the cord, it will work but if I let go, it stops.

it's decent, but will fail eventually
Pros: * Does a pretty good job for being fairly cheap * Pretty light * Doesn't feel terribly flimsy or poorly made * Aluminum strip and raised design will help dissipate heat even after the fans die
Cons: * The fans will die - may be months may be days, but with anything beyond casual use, you have less than a year. It's just a matter of time. They will get noisy and stop working, probably one and then the other. * The usb power cord is kind of lame, and will stop working right after a very little time, and thereafter you'll have to put it just right or it won't get any juice.
Other Thoughts: I've had two of these thingers - one from newegg the other I grabbed at an electronics store

Reduced temps by 15+ C
Pros: It brought my core temp down 15C+. I like how it raises the rear of the laptop for comfort. Easy to pack as I'm on the road alot. Works fine off USB power. I like how the rubber feet flip out and provide friction - feels sturdy.
Cons: Is pretty noisy at max fan speed, but that's expected.
Other Thoughts: My Dell Vostro with and nVidia 8600M video card was running at 80C+ sometimes while gaming, and I was getting worried. The CPU cooler needs to also cool the video card as well, and probably wasn't designed for it. Idle temps were at about 58C, which is technically within spec for the CPU, but I wanted it cooler. I'm a believer that heat will shorten the lifespan of electronics. I'm running at 40C idle and 65C load.

Don't buy this cooler
Pros: Cools the laptop nicely
Cons: The one fan broke within 2 months. The other fan died five months later.
Other Thoughts: To pay 25.00 for a laptop cooler, it should last longer than 7 months. I had a cheaper one that lasted 2 years before buying this one. I thought this one was better. I only wish now the other one had not given out on me. This is one of the WORST Notebook coolers I have ever bought.

Great for the price.
Pros: - The specs are comparable to cooling pads that cost almost twice as much. - The fan speed is adjustable and is barely audible at the lowest setting and emits a fairly quiet fan drone at the highest setting. - The USB power cable is a little over a foot long which is just long enough to plug into a side USB port without creating cable clutter. - Two storage compartments underneath the cooling pad which are a bit smaller than a deck of cards.
Cons: - Mostly plastic with a narrow strip of aluminum running along the center of the cooler. - Fan placements may require lining up lining up laptop vents with the fan for optimal cooling. - The cooler isn't quite large enough to sit flush with a 15.4" notebook.

Good cooler
Pros: Helps keep your laptop cool.
Cons: Was not big enough for my Dell Inspiron 9100. I had to return it and now I don't even have my 9100 as I moved on to another laptop.

I'm on one fan now...
Pros: Work great for about two months... I'm down to one working fan now. have to say I'm upset that one fan died about two months in.
Cons: Work great for about two months... I'm down to one working fan now. have to say I'm upset that one fan died about two months in.
Other Thoughts: Shop around and really look at the compitions. This one might work for you. Anything can happen with these things...

Good cooling in the wrong places.
Pros: It works great and lowers the temp by a good bit.
Cons: Unfortunately the fans are badly placed. If you but it under the graphics card/cpu though it works awesome.

pretty cool
Pros: It works pretty well. My laptop is about 3 years old, and it makes lots of heat, which kept making the computer turned off on Windows. But after using this laptop cooler, I never experienced forced shutdown. Since it has hard surface, the laptop is level and you can actually use your computer on your laps
Cons: The sound of the fan is a bit too high. But it's bearable.
Other Thoughts: None so far

Cheaply built.
Pros: Keeps your laptop cooler. Mainly got it for putting it on my lap.
Cons: Very cheaply built. From the fins on the fan to the power port on it.

Pros: This keeps my laptop noticeably cooler to the touch. It no longer shuts itself off due to overheating when playing games or watching movies. It's not a gaming laptop to begin with, though.
The power come straight from a USB port and the cord is nice and short, unlike others I've seen with cords several feet long when it sits right under the laptop anyway.
I've had the fan on full power the entire time I've used it and its not terribly loud. Definitely noticeable, but by no means irritating.
Cons: None so far.

Pros: I've owned this thing and lugged it around for over a year and a half, and it's still in great condition! also includes a couple storage pockets on the bottom.
Cons: none

Fantastic
Pros: -Although not best as nzxt cryo cooler, the fans move a lot of air. -Cheap price, very good for what you pay for -Decent fans -Love the two small compartments for storage.
Cons: -No USB hubs -Kind of small, I have 15.4 laptop. -You must prop up the cooler so you can get a better intake air.
Other Thoughts: For its price, I love it. One thing I don't like is, since my asus laptop already has a rubber feet, my laptop doesn't touch the aluminum faceplate :/. However, it does keep my laptop cool when I play games like cod4,coh, and crysis.
temps on idle w/o cooler: gpu:60c cpu:44-47c hard drive:47c
temps on idle with cooler(highest setting): gpu:54c cpu:42-44c hard drive:42c
temps on load w/o cooler: gpu:75c cpu:55-65c hard drive: 50-55c
temps on load with cooler(highest setting):
gpu:59-63c cpu:49-53c hard drive: 43-46c
For me, at least, the sound of fan isn't that loud. It can be annoying if the fan is on highest setting and you are doing somthing in quiet environment.

Works great
Pros: Literally drops the temperature on my DELL laptop computer. My system used to self shut off everytime it reach 85c. Now it stays at 51c during web surfing and 75c during full load, aka photoshop, dvd, gaming. The fans aren't that loud. You can adjust speed settings too. Pretty slim and lightweight. Nice styling too. Great vents.
Cons: Non so far and I had this for months. I use it every single day too.
Other Thoughts: Buy one!

Great for the price
Pros: Dual fan, USB-powered, retractable rubber grips
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: I bought two of these--one for my laptop and one for my wife's. My laptop never ran that hot, but it does keep it noticeably cooler. My wife's laptop, however, ran dangerously hot (it got uncomfortable to have it on a lap) and I worried about damage over the long-term. This cooler brought the laptop from hot tap water temperatures to just above or at room temperature. I didn't do an internal temp test, but I'm fairly confident that it went down. I would have given this five stars if the chassis was metal instead of plastic and the power connection was a little tighter. However, for the price, it really does well and is holding up just fine so far.

Good and Cheap (Best Kind)
Pros: Can be flipped to either blow air into or suck air out from the laptop. Very Light and the fans work very well. Fairly quiet.
Cons: Not as big as I would have hoped for a true 15' Dell Laptop but its worth it
Other Thoughts: Save your computer the hastle of cooling itself down and purchase one of these. The amount of life you will add to the parts inside your laptop by running a cooler pad under is about 20-45%.

Great Deal!
Pros: Cools my 17" laptop very well! Bargain price. Fan Control switch, power switch, USB powered.
Cons: After about a week, one of the fan blades broke and it got noisy, but it was very easy to open up and I just broke off a blade on the other side and it is just as quiet as ever.
Other Thoughts: The fan blades should be a little more durable; however, if the blades break beyond repair, this unit is incredibly easy to open up and replace the fans or even take out the guts of the unit and make your own cooling pad. Overall, the product is excellent and I would recommend this product to anyone. Excellent deal!

Good for it's price
Pros: Fans blow up to cool the laptop, vents aren't interfering with my laptops vents/fan
Light
powered by usb
Can be placed on your lap unlike many others!
Cons: Feels a bit cheap
Wire has a short so i have to keep it twisted a certain way for it to work.
Other Thoughts: I use it for my Dell 1501 which sticks about an inch off to each side but that's ok.
RMA isn't worth it, shipping costs half as much as the product..

Pros: Did a fine job keeping my Powerbook G4 cool when used on a desk or other flat surface
Cons: No side vents so it's not suitable as a "lap"top cooler. Plastic feels a little cheap.
Other Thoughts: Don't apply too much pressure to the device. I snapped one of these by accidentally stepping on it while moving.

Pros: It was an ok product. It did its job and kept my laptop cool. It also has a neat compartment underneath where you can store small items.
Cons: After a few days one of the fan blades broke off and one of the fans was jammed because of it. I had to take it apart and pull out the piece then take another blade from the opposite side to stop it from vibrating with an uneven fan. It could do better for it's price.
Other Thoughts: It could have had the fans a little bigger and spread out along with it being a bit stronger. I had to adjust it a lot to keep it on the hotspot under my computer.

Pros: works well, keeps the laptops bottom surface MUCH cooler
Cons: bit small for my 15.1 dell laptop but the fans hit the right spot. For some reason sometimes the fans don't turn on right away, other times they turn on right when my laptop finishes the BIOS.

Pros: Cheap, light, not too noisy. Heat reduction ok.
Cons: It fell of a table 2.5' high table and both fans stopped working. Got one to work again. Not robust enough for lots of travel.
Other Thoughts: Replaced it with a Zalman ZM=NC 1000. Tougher design, more air flow. Better traveler.

Pros: Lightweight, silent.
Cons: No notable difference in temperatures, tested at varying loads. Perhaps higher fan speeds, at the cost of a bit more noise, would aid more in the cooling process.
Other Thoughts: This cooler is probably just a mismatch to my Dell XPS Studio 16. The fan positions relative to my laptop's have proven to aid in no beneficial way in the cooling process.

Cool product
Pros: Nice and light, fan control works well and not too loud even on high. Keeps your lap cool. The rubber to keep the laptop from sliding work very well, feels planted and can slide it on your lap easily without the laptop sliding off.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Good product for a low price.

Outstanding Customer Service
Pros: This is an essential piece of gear, especially for laptops that have a down-blowing fan. A lot of heat can build up quickly and shut you down, especially if spinning an optical disk. It works well and is easy on the budget. I've purchased two models, one with the USB ports. They're very reliable. But here's the crux: The cable went bad on one so I emailed Vantec about it after buying the second unit. They promptly mailed me a replacement cable free of any charge. That's good service. You can depend on it.
Cons: cable failure -- probably just a "hiccup".

Brilliant
Pros: I won't ever own another laptop without having one of these coolers. I can sit for hours on end and not get "hot" from the heat of the lap top. Super smart idea. Very quiet and light.
Cons: none

Cheap power connection...
Pros: Cheap price...Fast Shipping from Newegg.com..looks nice
Cons: Well first of all, a week after it arrived the power connection in the back is now loose or not making a good connection. I have tried to readjust it but the only way it works now is to have the USB power connector pulled tight under neath the cooler to keep the connection for power going. Very Very annoying. Everytime I move my laptop, the power stops and I have to play around to get it just right to work.
Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for...Try something that is made by a different company....

Pros: It protects us from exhaust heat from the laptop. The rubber grips works well to keep the laptop stationary. The fans are still turning after 100% usage.
Cons: Color is cool not professional, I would go with something more neutral next time. The fans could probably cycle faster.
Other Thoughts: There is no way to lock the laptop with the cooler, a strap(s) would be useful.

Fans not well protected
Pros: Lightweight, fans run well.. but they break very easily.
Cons: I use my laptop around the house a lot and sometimes carry it to school along with this cooler. The cooler doesn't protect the fans well enough because 1-2 fan blades on both fans somehow managed to break off after a couple months of use. This doesn't prevent the fans from working though, but I noticed that if ANY blades ever break off, the entire fan runs extremely loud and is very annoying. After that has happened to both of the fans on this, I just stopped using it because the noise was way too loud.
Other Thoughts: Wouldn't recommend this because fan's blades break off easily because they are not well protected.

Solid
Pros: It's more solid than others we've had around the house. Good features with the adjustable fan speed. We're very happy and will get another.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Clear usb power cord has been marked with a strip of red tape. The kid lost his in the carpet, and even he thought it was a good idea.

Works ok, but not intended for lap due to fan locations
Pros: -mostly solid design -inexpensive
Cons: -there is too much play in the power connection where the power plug is inserted; feels cheap -led lights on front are too bright and should be able to be turned off.

Lousy
Pros: Cheap, lightweight, compact.
Cons: One of the two fans stopped working after about a week.
Other Thoughts: If your laptop only needs one side to be cooled (the left side), this would be good for you. Otherwise, look elsewhere. Hunk of junk.

4 years old and still working
Pros: Old but still works like new.
Cons: Sometimes the rubber feet fall off when putting this cooler in my laptop carry bag. That is because I'm lazy and don't close them like they were intended to do.
Other Thoughts: I was looking for a newer cooler looking laptop pad when I noticed Newegg still sells the one I have. So I decided to keep it and write a review instead!

Worked Great at first
Pros: Very Quiet and easy to use.
Cons: One fan stopped working after about 2 months of use. Also its easy for the fans to get caught on clothes etc and snag.

Its okay, does what it says
Pros: It DOES keep the laptop cooler. Has the ability to control fan speed (I didn't realize it had that feature)
Cons: Fan is louder at higher settings. Still cannot completely compensate for poor design of the laptop, but the keyboard is now cool to the touch (so the whole laptop is cooler). Ram temps dropped a lot as well. You still probably won't want to run folding on your laptop without putting some arctic silver on the CPU and thinking twice about it.
Other Thoughts: If you're someone who uses a laptop like a desktop, you should own this one. Its not so flimsy that you'll have to worry about it breaking.

Excellent
Pros: Efficient, good price, small storage compartments, fan speed controller.
Cons: Not really durable, see other thoughts.
Other Thoughts: You need to open it after some months to clean the hair and dust on the fans. You will be amazed by how faster it will blow the air. It's expected.
Also, after 3 YEARS the power connector became loose. It was just a matter of welding the connector to the board anyway. A 5 minute job: an iron nail (hot) and a bit of tin.
3 years and going strong. For $19? I say it's more than worth it! I use with my notebook when I'm on my desk.

Good but fan blade broke
Pros: Quiet and adjustable fan speed. You can turn it on and off and it cooled MacBook very effectively.
Cons: One of the fan blades broke and we haven't had it that long. Still works, but would like a product that doesn't break after less than a month use. I don't even use it everyday.
Other Thoughts: I would buy if you want a reliable cooler. I have a Belkin and it makes almost no noise compared to the Belkin. Just wish it didn't break.

Not to bad
Pros: Price was great. Quite fans, does its job. I got this to cool down an xbox360 and a laptop when the xbox is broke, works pretty good. Just too bad the xbox360 sucks. Would say the cooler is not for traveling or moving it around much. Maybe its tougher then it feels like, don't know. Newegg shipping was quick like always.
Cons: You pay for what you get. Feels like its going to break, cheap usb plug-in but everything works and haven't had any problems with it. Not to many cons.
Other Thoughts: You pay for what you get. This is a good price and works. I wouldn't say its the best on the market but it does what it says. Laptop cooler.

Good stuff
Pros: Very good cooling pad for a good price. Keeps things nice and cool, and have had no problems.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: The power cord is kind of a silver clear type color so it may be kind of hard to find if you lose it.

Nice piece
Pros: Works well to keep my always on laptop cool. Simple to operate. Not too loud, but still some ambient noise in a 12 x 12 room. Just sounds like a couple small fans, duh. I do have the fan speed turned all the way up though.
Cons: None really.
Other Thoughts: I don't think you can beat this unit in terms of price/ functionality.

Cool Cool Cool
Pros: I bought this to replace a $5 notebook cooler I had been using. What a difference! The air coming out of the side of my laptop is very cool as well as the bottom the laptop. The adjustable speed is great and the cooler even looks great!
Cons: None

Great product
Pros: Keeps my iBUYPOWER laptop cool through gaming sessions of a few hours. It is almost too silent, I just about forget to turn it off before I get up from the desk.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Good cooling solution.

Better suited size wise to the Dell 1420
Pros: Cools my Dell 1501
Cons: none yet

Not for 17In
Pros: It works...Nothing spectacular. I didn't benchmark it or anything.
Cons: I use it on a 17 Inch. Barely fits... Depending if your bottom of your notebook is flat. Mine isn't. Keep that in mind.

Lapcool2 review
Pros: The price is cheap, fan is extremely fast (reduced my cpu temp from an idle temp of 40C to 33C), and it is relatively small (fits nicely on my 15.4 in laptop).
Cons: One of the fans broke after using it for about 2 months.
Other Thoughts: The fan is decent, but be wary of the cheap materials to produce it. If you simply leave your laptop on a desk all day then this is great. However if you carry your laptop everywhere, find a more structurally sound laptop cooler.

Cool Laps
Pros: Clean looking with a compartment for the USB cable when not in use. The blue color is much more aesthetically pleasing than my previous drab black and silver coolers. Quiet and light weight this cooler works just fine.
Cons: While the price is relatively inexpensive, it should be noted that you aren't getting a rock solid piece of hardware. It works just fine around the house but I would question anyone using this while traveling.
Other Thoughts: Decent for the price and does what it is intended to do.

It works, but it's noisy
Pros: It works, and does a good job of keeping my laptop cool even while playing games. (Not even Crysis causes the internal laptop fan to go into high speed!) Being able to adjust the speed is great, I turn it down for general use and crank it up when playing games.
Cons: The first day I had this cooler it was whisper-quiet, but after that it became noisy. I think the fans are spinning at slightly different speeds setting up some kind of vibration, because if I block either fan from spinning the other is almost silent. The noise is not terrible but present at all speeds, audible even when wearing headphones, and bad enough I wouldn't be able to sleep well with the cooler turned on.
Given all the positive reviews though, I probably just got a bad unit.
Other Thoughts: I agree this cooler is suitable for 15.4" laptops at most. My 15.4" laptop is about 3" wider but I only use the cooler on a desk so it's not a problem.
Being able to tilt the unit up is a big plus, I don't know how the fans could pull in enough air to be useful otherwise.
It would be nice if the controls were on the front, since I use the cooler on a desk. And the fan status lights are really just LEDs connected to the power switch, they remain happily lit even if both fans are stopped.

Nice cooler for the price
Pros: I've had this cooler for over two years and it suits my needs well. Everything still works fine.
Cons: After about a year one of the fan blades broke off, but it still works fine. My only complaint is it gets a little loud when they fan speed is turned up, but it's nothing horrible...just noticible in a quiet room.
Other Thoughts: I didn't see the point in spending alot of $$ on a cooler, so I got this and it does the trick. My Acer's underbelly is cool to the touch when on this thing.

Looks nice but...
Pros: Attractive Design!
Cons: Bought this cooler a few months ago. The right side fan blades started breaking off one by one after about a week of ownership. Then one left side fan blade broke off after about two weeks. Looks nice but I am very disappointed with this product!!
Other Thoughts: I recommend spending your money elsewhere!

Very Good for the $$Price$$
Pros: This laptop cooler works very well for the price. I wasn't looking to spend a lot of money to cool my laptop, but it was getting overly warm so I decided to just try out this low price one. This cooler keeps my dell E1705 cool even though it doesn't cover the full 17 inches. The two fans move a good amount of air.
Cons: The fans do not hit my ram, cpu, and where the power charger connects at the same time.
Other Thoughts: It may not blow on all the components directly but the air dissipates well over the bottom and cools it well enough.

Pros: It has a variable speed setting, 4 usb ports, it's relatively slim for easy transport, it cooled down my laptop significantly and FINALLY a laptop cooler that has the fans that blow upwards toward the computer instead of "trying" to suck the heat away. I don't know about you but my laptop's fans intake is on the bottom with the exhaust at the back and side and if you had one of those laptop coolers that supposedly suck the heat away from the computer's bottom and exhaust the air on the sides, then it would just negate my laptop's fans to suck in air to cool it down.
Cons: The dc plug is flimsy feeling because it seems loose when it's plugged in. It stays in though which really matters. Other than that it's all good.
Other Thoughts: It's pretty lightweight. I've had it for a about 2 years now, hasn't broken down yet and it still works great.

Decent for the money
Pros: Great price, definatley takes my temps down on my laptop. Never usually have to turn the fan speed up past halfway. Really friggen quiet, have owned it for about 2-3months now and I usually have it on about 4hours a day when its really hot out and haven't had any problems at all with it.
Cons: a little small for my 15.4 inch laptop, i have it situated so catch my vents better so its stability is a bit awkward looking, but doesnt hinder performance of my laptop or of the unit itself at all. everyone was complaining about the fans breaking and such, but thats after they dropped it. or if they hit the fans with their knuckles or something during moving. their not meant for that, their plastic fans that are meant to spin. they do their job fine.
Other Thoughts: great buy for the money. works exactly like it says it does.

Great Cooler
Pros: Overall a very sturdy, thin, and quite cooler. It has a on off switch, speed adjuster which allows you to lower the noise when not in use, but power it up when you need more cooling. The laptop is noticeably cooler. There are stilts on top and bottom that prop both your laptop and the cooler so that air can flow evenly between each.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: For the price, I don't think there is a better laptop cooler.

Review by a Future College Student
Pros: Works great so far! The fans are nice, and it has a very slim design as well.
Cons: The fans are louder than my laptop when they are cranked up all the way. The case for the cooler is made out of plastic.
Other Thoughts: The little storage compartments are nice for carrying cables in.

Mostly Plastic
Pros: Cheap, it works decent, and my lap doesn't get that warm burning feeling when I have my computer sitting on it.
Cons: I thought "aluminum faceplate" meant an actual faceplate, not a small metal strip that doesn't do much of anything. Kinda wish it had a USB port built in to regain the one this thing takes up (Dell Inspiron 1100 only has 2), but I'll survive...besides, that's what USB hubs are for, right?
Other Thoughts: Wasn't exactly what I expected, but that's typically the case when buying things online. All in all it works well, especially for a college student on a tight budget

Works Well
Pros: Keeps my laptop much cooler. Rubber feet on top allow use with a laptop that does not fit the exact size of the cooler.
Cons: The "aluminum alloy faceplate" is better described as "small thin piece of metal glued to top". The rubber feet on bottom are to small for good air flow (when flat), I added some fatter ones myself and it works much better.
Other Thoughts: Does not seem very sturdy, I have been careful with it so it has not broken with almost continuous use.

Cools well, a little flimsy
Pros: Very quiet, cools my Acer Aspire 5920 really well... or did.
Cons: Fans are maybe a little flimsy? My wife dropped it on the second day and two blades broke right off.
Other Thoughts: Although the unit vibrates badly due to the broken fan, I'd still give this cooler a high rating. I even ordered a new one!

Great cooler
Pros: I bought this cooler for my 17" Dell Inspiron 1720. It works great. It cools the temperature by about 10-15 degrees F. It's extremely light weight and super quite. I've read some reviews commenting on the irregular noise coming from the fans, but I've noticed no such thing. There is a slight noise if you're in a super quite room, but it's hardly noticeable. The grips on the top of the pad hold my laptop very well. It doesn't slide or move whatsoever. The two extensions on the back of the pad give my laptop a nicely angled position when I place it on top. Also, many people complain that the cheaper coolers (such as this one) tend to wear out faster in terms of the fan motors. Well, I've had this cooler for over 2 months. I run it nearly 24/7 on fullspeed and the fan motors have held up just fine. Honestly, for $20.00 I can't seem to find a better deal. Highly recommended for extensive laptop use.
Cons: The only con is that it is a little small for a 17" laptop. Mine hangs off about an inch and a half on either side. Still, it does cool the thing so it's not really a big deal. Also, being that is does run on the laptops power, it will drain your battery just a tad faster than if you didn't have it running, but not by much (adjusting fan speed will reduce that).
Other Thoughts: Dell Inspiron 1720 17", 4 GB RAM, nVidia 8600GT video card, 320 GB HD, Intel Core2 Duo T8300 2.4 Ghz processor, Vista SP1

Brought Temperatures Down!
Pros: This laptop cooler works! Temperatures are down 5 degrees Celsius with the cooler fans on low. I like the angle it puts my laptop at for typing. Having the fan speed control in addition to the power on/off switch is convenient. Normally I keep it on low, or fans off, and if I'm gaming I turn it on high. Just plug it into one of your laptop's USB ports, turn the fans on, and your laptop will stay cooler!
Cons: At certain RPM's, the fans make an irregular sound that is noticeable in a quiet room. It is not loud, but is noticeable, primarily with the fan speed knob set just a little past the lowest setting.
Other Thoughts: Dell Vostro 1500: T8100 Penryn Core 2 Duo at 2.10 Ghz; 2 MB DDR2 667 Memory; Nvidia 8600m GT graphics card with GDDR3 memory; 160 GB 7200 RPM free fall HDD. DL DVD Burner (x8).
Core temps were running at an average of 45 degrees Celsius; peaking at 52 degrees Celsius playing COD4 on medium settings. With the cooler on low, the average running core temps are at 38-40 degrees Celsius; peaking at 45-47 during heavy gaming.

Bad advertising
Pros: Would be a great cooler for a laptop less than 17".
Cons: Says that it "fits" 17" laptops; which for me, is not the case. There's no way I can angle the thing to not make it wobbly. Otherwise, it would be a find product.

Best Cooler I've Used
Pros: Flippable Spacers, High RPM of Fans, Power Switch, Fan speed control, Extra compartments.
Best cooler I have found so far and its cheap! I have a Toshiba A-105 S2712 and they are well known for burning legs stock. Mine is upgraded with more RAM and a Bigger HD so it runs even hotter than a stock A-105 This is the only cooler I have found so far that can keep it from smelling like its going to catch on fire. I have had CPU temps over 200 Deg F and this cooler definitely makes a huge difference in temp.
Cons: None So Far
Other Thoughts: I've had other Vantec products with the USB to like mini power input that looks like a circle on the end and they get loose over time and don't like to stay in to power the unit. I often find myself direct wiring it and it works fine.

Keeps it cool
Pros: Keeps my laptop much cooler. Nice rubber feet on top. Price is right.
Cons: The aluminum "face plate" should be called "thin aluminum fan cover." (Rest is plastic.) The rubber feet on bottom should be larger for better air flow--I added my own to raise height.
Other Thoughts: Be gentle with it.

wow very nice
Pros: This thing Keeps my ASUS F3Ka laptop very very cool. the metal shiny strip in the midle that goes across the base and the fans stays cold even when its hot in the room or has been in my laptop bag for hours. dont ask me how but its nice and cool and transfers that cool to the base of the laptop and to the air blowing from the fans. ecellent cooling solution, powers off usb and fits nicely in my targus bag.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: this is a must have if you have a high powered laptop with a dual core cpu and a hot hard drive. Mine has a 512mb dedicated ATi video card and I game alot on it. so I got this cooler to help keep it alive after hours of fun. It does just that.

Used with 15.4" laptop
Pros: Light weight, super silent, good air flow, cheap!
Cons: None...yet
Other Thoughts: Straight out of the box this unit significantly cooled down my laptop. Not too shabby for the price

works for a 17-inch WS notebook
Pros: Works pretty well for my 17" Asus G2P notebook. It hangs over the edges, but still seems to cool things down by about 17 degrees F. Pretty inexpensive, so it performs well for the price. It is small and light enough to easily fit in my laptop backpack.
Cons: mostly plastic, but so far so good. Have not had it very long.
Other Thoughts: I would recommend it

Good fan, Cheap Price
Pros: Did a great job of keeping my laptop relatively cool during intensive games like Oblivion
Cons: I had this fan for about a year until I accidentally dropped it a few times while on my lap, breaking off the little wings on the fans. I dropped it maybe two or three times, and by then more than half of the wings broke off, making the fans uneven and loud.
Also, the power plug in the fan was very touchy - I had to have the power cable plugged into the fan at just the right angle to get the fan to work, but was probably from my clumsiness.
Other Thoughts: Pretty good laptop cooler - just isn't too durable.

I Recommend This
Pros: This cooler is light, cheap, has aluminum top, super quiet dual fans, and adjustable speed.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I bought myself one and it really did a good job keeping my laptop cool. Later I bought one for my dad on his birthday. He loves it! It didn't take long for other family members to ask me about getting them one. In all, we have about 5 of them and not one problem out of any of them.

Really Good Cooler
Pros: Dual fans with adjustable speed are a definite plus. As a graduate student, when I am doing heavy work loads I crank the fans up to high to keep my laptop cool. Then I can turn them down at night whenever I'm trying to sleep so that they make barely any noise.
Cons: It's all plastic so you have to be careful with it. The fan's aren't the smallest ones on the market, but perhaps they could be larger.
Other Thoughts: I've owned two of these so far if that's any indication of how well I think they work. The first one lasted about 2 years and the only problems I had with it was when I had to break a single blade off one of the fans because it cracked and kept getting stuck in the grill. In my mind, for $20 you can't beat this thing.

Works fine
Pros: Works like it suspose to.
Cons: None for 20$
Other Thoughts: Why spend 40$ on others when this one works just fine?

Pros: Quiet, and keeps things cool! GREAT value for the price. I have bought one for every laptop I use!
Cons: Fans kind of close to the holes in the base, easy to break if not careful, BUT they are very easily replaceable, if you can find replacements.
Other Thoughts: You can't beat the value. And it does what it is supposed to do. After using one, I bought them for every laptop I use. The fans are a bit on the fragile side because of their location, but if you can locate a replacement, they are very easy to replace.

Great Product for the price!
Pros: Small, yet enough to get the job done whether on your lap or on a table top. Quiet and sleek. Great piece of equipment.
Cons: Little small for my laptop(my fault for not checking demension) but not that bad. My laptop hangs over about 1/4 inch on either side. Fans still cool nessesary parts on computer.
Other Thoughts: This thing is awesome. I saw other people complaining about the fans being really loud on the highest setting. Maybe I am hard of hearing, becuase I do not think that they are loud at all. For $20, you cannot get a better piece of equipment to cool your laptop!!

Makes a difference
Pros: When I didnt have a laptop cooler, the bottom of the laptop would heat up and take a longer time to load up anything. With this product, the adjustable speed cools off the laptop by a lot and I don't have to wait as long as I used to.
Cons: Needs a decent height of the 2 legs in order for air to flow through the fans or else it won't work (especially on a bed). Product isn't that loud but it does make a silent noise.
Other Thoughts: Bought 2 and loving it so far. Just have to put a book under the cooler when using it on a bed.

Decent, but breakable
Pros: Did a decent job cooling my laptop in the beginning.
Cons: The bottom surface of the cooler pad is plastic. When I would go to lift or move the laptop and cooler together, the bottom surface would flex (from my fingers) and the fan blades would engage with the bottom. The fan blades broke one by one and eventually started making a lot of noise. I tried to disassemble the cooling pad to access the fans to see if I could replace them, but the pad wasn't designed to be taken apart without destroying.
Other Thoughts: For the most part, our laptop stays stationary on our kitchen table, it wasn't like we were traveling with it or anything.

AWesome cooling!
Pros: well, before my laptop cpu would get really hot, and it would slow things down, games would lag, dvd player would lag. so i knew i not only needed new drivers, but better cooling. so i got this thing. before my cpu temp on idle would be around 60-65 C (btw, its a core 2 duo 2.0Ghz, so thats normal) and when i would game it would nearly go to 100C, and my program would want to shut it off. But now i put this thing under my laptop, and on idle i get 40-45C. Big difference! great , and i can watch 2 hour movies without the cpu overheating and game for hours.
Cons: it says its ultra silent fans, its not all that ultra silent lol :P its not loud either! dont get me wrong, since u got fan control.
Other Thoughts: right now i got mozilla on, and im writing this comment, and i can see that my laptop hardware control says the cpu temp is 42C! :) excellent stuff, guys buy it, its very cheap as well!!
specs of laptop: toshiba p105, core 2 duo T7200 2.0 Ghz, 2 Gig Ram @667Mhz, and Nvidia 7900GS GO. everything is great, cools everything!!! p.s. it just went under 40C!! so coool :D

Works GREAT
Pros: Keeps my laptop very cool. I have 2 other coolers, and this one works very good! I like that this also has a fan adjustment dial to increase or decrease the fan speed.
Cons: None

Good for the price
Pros: It is a cheap cool that does it's job well. Although most laptops have blowers for the cpu and is located at the top, this pulls lots of cool air for other devices. I have found that my lap actually gets cold when the fan is turned up.
Cons: It is sized better for 14 inch laptops or smaller. My 15.4 inch hangs over and it annoys me a little to have the laptop vents blowing on my leg.

Great.. at First
Pros: It was quiet when I first got it! realy kept my laptop cool and the temperature down.
Cons: Well After sitting on my lap with the Laptop on top of it eventually the pressure from the laptop and my lap would press against the fans. Now the fans and the whole unit doesn't work.
Other Thoughts: I think They need better supports around the fans to keep from jamming the fins on the units. This would have lasted much longer if I used it on a tabletop instead of my lap.

Not bad
Pros: For the most part, this is a pretty good cooler. It has kept my laptop (an old IBM Thinkpad R40) very cool. Laptop fits perfectly on it. Love the extra USB ports which I've used quite frequently, and like I can control the speed of the fans. On the whole I'm pretty happy with it
Cons: Not long after I had the cooler. a few of the blades broke off on the left-hand side of the cooler. There was no heavy use of it at that time, and I had not moved it around much at all. Up until the blades fell off, the cooler was pretty quite. Once the blades came off, this became a very noisy cooler whether on high or low. This was also dropped once, and then two of the blades fell off on the fan on the right side. Now the thing is even more noisy. It also is a bit too bulky for travel, but is perfect for home-use.
Other Thoughts: I do wish the whole cooler was aluminium instead of mostly plastic with an aluminium strip. I'm in the market for a new one now, since this one is just too noisy, but I'm not finding any other designs I like as much as this one. I will probably buy another one of these and use it for home use and buy one of the Thermaltake Notebook Cooling Pad for travel

Good buy
Pros: Works great, keeps my laptop much cooler. I really like that it angles the laptop for me. The elevation makes it more comfortable to type on.
Cons: This isn't a product fault but my laptop heats up on side more than in the middle. The cooler definitely does its job but the side is still kind of warm when it runs. Notice where your laptop gets hot and where the fans are.
Other Thoughts: I don't use it 24/7, only when it gets hot. The cable it comes with is just the right length for my laptop. Even when I don't turn it on, I always use it on my desk to angle my laptop.

LapCool2 review
Pros: This item lasted two deployments(18 months) to Iraq. It cooled my laptop very well and never had any major issues with it like some of these techies here. I've left it on for days on end without any problem what-so-ever and it's still going strong. Unlike some laptop coolers, I'm able to lay this on my lap while working on my laptop.
Cons: The power cord on the laptop cooler end is sensitive. If you are in a quite environment, the fans can get real loud if left on high.
Other Thoughts: I liked the little storage compartment on the underside as well as the LED that lets me know its on. The power dial and the power switch are great also. Just remember folks, if you take care of your equipment, your equipment will take care of you.
