my neighbors hate me!
Pros: These speakers have excellent sound quality! The sub can produce a lot of bass! Perfect for music, parties, gaming, movies, or whatever your heart desires!
Cons: as noted by others, neighbors aren't to happy sometimes ^_^

After technical issue, I'm happy
Pros: Speaker produce excellent quality, especially at their price point. System is way too powerful - never need to turn it up over halfway. That is a good thing in my book.
Cons: Prone to technical problems... if I'd done my research I might have picked up a different model. I was getting a sound like wind blowing across a microphone... even when they were unplugged from the computer and power!! Plus they were picking up cellphones (they'd crackle right before a cellphone would ring). Turns out that this model has a common problem with the control pad. I had to ship the control pad back to Logitech, leaving me without speakers at all for a week or two. They shipped an entirely new speaker set out. I ended up throwing a sub and set of speakers away because I didn't have the control panel... seemed pretty wasteful but the new set worked perfectly so I let it slide.
Other Thoughts: Will need to be equalized... but geez.... unless you're deaf, all speakers need this. If you're running these speakers you've got a good quality sound card already, so there's how you do it. If you don't have a good sound card, buy one! They can run as little as $30 these days if you don't buy the newest SoundBlaster.

Loud, powerful, and excellent value
Pros: These speaker come loud out of the box. Lows are especially crisp and the range is good. Combined with a good sound card, music sounds like a live concert. Games come alive.
Cons: Lacks digital inputs. Lacks built in decoder.
Other Thoughts: I own the older brother as well, the Z-5500 and this one lives up to the quality of the former. Same feeling. It gets just as loud and there is no reason to spend more, unless you need the built in decoder and slighter monstrous subwoofer. Quality is the same--top notch.
Highly commended.

Sweet
Pros: Great highs, smooth lows, quality appearance, and easy to hook up. I had the whole thing out of the box and connected in less than 45 minutes. The bass is absolutely AMAZING. It knocks pictures off the kitchen walls two rooms away at will, but is easily adjustable for toned-down use. The satellite speakers look great and feel of high quality craftsmanship. They also are easily adjustable and are wall mountable for placing them in innovative positions. The remote may be kinda cheap feeling, but it is VERY functional and easy to use. The sub is large, professional looking, and it shakes every inch of my room.
Cons: Of course the speaker wires are VERY short out of the box (extensions are available at your local shop). The remote is kinda cheap feeling, wired, and ugly as I have stated above. The system as a whole requires quite a bit of tuning through your sound card or MBs graphic equalizer to get it sounding right. Also, there is s slight amount of popping/static in the satellites when adjusting volume, but understandable as the whole system is slammed with amplification.
Other Thoughts: I have this system connected through my Asus M2N-Sli Deluxe MBs on-board audio and it sounds phenomenal. It looks great and blows away my RCA 7.1 home theater system. I can't even imagine how excellent it would sound connected through a good sound card. I purchased this system for well under 150$ from an alternative website including shipping, so I would have to say it is one of the best investments I have made to date. I just wish Newegg would have had some in stock even though I would have had to pay a little more because it took the other website 9 days to ship the speakers. I love Newegg's shipping. Buy this system if you can still find it in stock anywhere, and don't be upset if it sounds sub par out of the box. Tune it to your liking and it will blow you away!

Great for the first year, no doubt about that part.
Pros: I love these, Logitech is the king of sub woofers on PC speakers and I listen mostly to rap so... the overpowering bass is really kind of a plus. The entire set can be so loud, even when I'm alone and feel like blasting music as loud as my ears can take it the volume still isn't maxed. Thats always a huge plus in my book. I did have some of the satellites mounted for a while, its a pretty decent and easy setup. That big heat sink does its job as long as you give it space away from the wall.
Cons: The exact same problem that has happened to this and my last two pairs of Logitech's speakers and two sets bought by a friend: THEY DIE AFTER A SINGLE YEAR, NO MATTER WHAT. The connections in the back get shorted and eventually lose all connectivity, I honestly don't care how it happens because its simply unacceptable. The cheap Logitech ones do it, the expensive ones do it too. Luckily with this set, I still have both rears and managed to just swap the plug ins on my sound card around to put front sound through the rear speakers, so it is still a somewhat operational 2.1 system (I should make note that the center went out too... that sucks when it comes to vocals in anything involving rock music) At this point I have a system I paid $150 for (sad the price hasn't changed after this many years to be honest) and it sounds about as good as a $30 dollar set you could buy in a retail store.
Only two eggs for this, and simply because all these pairs went out before their warranty did.
Other Thoughts: Its simply disappointing, Logitech used to be so good but I even got a mouse from them last summer that broke in a month. I actually look forward to a possible M$ buyout, because when its on the hardware end they tend to do it right (they are my dedicated mouse maker now, i love em)
The only product I will buy from Logitech again is a second G-15 keyboard for when my current one breaks, but its sticking up like the true Logitech products once did so that should be a while. I give kudos where its due, but like I said 5 confirmed short outs from the same source just shoots this good deal on speakers in the foot. Spend another hundred dollars on any other brand, you'll likely be happier two years down the road.
I am aware that these are still under warranty, but if its happened to five consecutive speaker sets what are they gonna do? Make these last one year more and let me just watch them short out again? Next time I'm digging deeper in my wallet...

Me love them looooong time!
Pros: Good sound, Many control features, LOUD, awesome for gaming. This system rattles the windows when I play the latest FPS games. Great Bang for the buck. Nice Price and Superfast shipping.
Cons: Limited wall/ceiling mount options. Not good for music if you are an "OLDE" audio geek, but I got them for gaming only, so that's just FYI.

Well Worth It
Pros: I have owned the Z-5300 system for almost 4 years now and still have no plans of replacing and let me just say that I definately don't go easy on them. I use these speakers on full volume on a daily basis and they are still amazing me with clarity and volume of the sound. The fidelity of the sound recreated by this system is simply incredible.
Cons: The cords are a bit short out of the box but extensions were not hard to find.
The control pod could be improved.
And it would make me feel better if there was a fan on the amp as it gets rather hot while being used at high volume for long periods of time. I wouldn't recommend putting the sub in a tight space as it creates quite a bit of heat.
Other Thoughts: I have the Z-5300 set up through a Sound Blaster X-Fi Sound Processor.
All of My CD's are in a WMA Lossless format

Bang for the Buck
Pros: For the power and sound quality it delivers, there's no better bang for the buck.
The bass can go up HIGH, for bass wannabes
Cons: I do miss the old days when speakers were built with cool metal parts, or for the modern age, would've been cool to be built from brushed aluminum.
Same with the remote, could've been more refined, but instead is quite crudely finished in plastic.
The sub is quite big, to be expected, but be forewarned.
Other Thoughts: I actually bought this on rebate for significantly cheaper than the list price, but even now, it is still a good value for a complete, medium strength 5.1 system.

Amazing power!
Pros: What an amazingly powerful set of speakers! These things will shake the pictures on your walls if you want them to! The bass is deep and heavy, and the sound is rich and powerful. And the fact that you can switch between different stereo modes on the speakers themselves is very nice if you can't hook them all up but still want to use them all.
Cons: It's expensive. Not a cheap system here, but for what you get, it's not too bad. As other reviewers have said, when plugging them in to a computer system, you may have to play with the bass/treble levels. By default it's a bit too bassy and not nearly trebly enough. But plugging them into a stereo/amp they sound just fine.
Other Thoughts: Overall, I still give it 5 eggs. Everyone who hears these things in action who's come to visit me has been utterly blown away by their power and quality. You won't be disappointed if you get these.

Excellent system
Pros: Excellent system. Great range. Deep, reverberating bass you can feel from the inside out. Excellent mid- and high-range. Yesterday, Newegg said this was a disabled item, so I'm just glad I've the chance to write a review about it.
Cons: Possibly going to be disabled soon, and is out-of-stock at moment of writing. Buy them while you still can. 280W is an excellent size Home Theatre System.
Other Thoughts: These are computer speakers, and so, the cords are NOT too short. Place the speakers by your monitor. Place yourself 26" back from that, and the back speakers 52"-54" behind you. Get them while you still can.

awesome value
Pros: Sounds great. Solidly built. Good price for what you are getting. Remote is nice.
Cons: Sub is way too overpowering. Not a huge setback though, just turn it down.
Cables a bit short going to front speakers.

Discontinued: Get them while you can!!!
Pros: Just FYI, the 5300-e's are to be replaced by the less potent 155 watt RMS G51 series for same price. They are already discontinued and out of stock on many websites, so get the Z's here while you can! My brother-in-law has owned this setup for several months now and they sound great in games and music as well. BF2 with X-fi and these speakers is so cool!
Cons: Discontinued. :(
Other Thoughts: These really are a good value for the price even though I missed the awesome mail-in rebate a few months back. Can't wait for mine to arrive! My apologies in advance to my neighbors!

Great Value
Pros: More bass than I can handle,so the wired remote is a great idea for adjustments. Clear, crisp sound. Great Price. Easy setup.
Cons: I have nothing bad to say about this product.
Other Thoughts: FAST SHIPPING. GREAT PRICE. If you think the 5500 series would be too much, then this is a great solution.

on second thought
Pros: this is my second review, about a year after my first one. this set of speakers is great, while they last.
Cons: after a few months one of the wires in the 3 wire set burned out so i had to replace it with a separate wire. as of today 3 of my satillite speakers have crapped the bed. if you hang these, dont hang them with the wire coming out of the top because if you do the weight of the cable and the angle it is at will pull the connectors out of the insides. the speaker mounts are cheap, ive already broken two of them. The cords, as most people have mentioned, are pathetically too short unless you live in a jail cell and even then...
Other Thoughts: i dont know if all speaker sets are made this cheap, seeing as how this is only my second, and first logitech, but it seems to me that they put very little effort into engineering a reliable product. i imagine thats because they want you to have to spend more money on another one after the first one burns out, but seriously. logitech must be pretty poor in that area because the g-15 keyboard i bought a year or so broke too. the left hand side of the keyboard just stopped working. and then they replaced it with a neutered copy and raised the price. cmon now...

Wow.
Pros: Rich, deep bass; clear mids and highs; nice asthetics; quality construction and cables; great overall sound quality, especially for the price.
Cons: Clunky wired remote is big and ugly. Really would have preferred a wireless remote. No mounting screw holes for the center speaker, which is a bit of a drag as I have a 24" LCD so I can't just sit it on top of the monitor. Cables could have been a couple of feet longer for each speaker.
Other Thoughts: I upgraded my VERY old set of Altec Lansing ADA885 THX 4.1 speakers with these. Only because the Altecs started major pops and cracks on all settings but quad (which let out a major hiss at all volume levels). I'm very happy with my choice. You DO have to futz with the sound levels a bit for the best sound quality. If you use your sound cards setup/control panel to test each channel, make sure you turn of Matrix via the remote, or the Center/sub/side speakers won't recieve the 5.1 signal. Matrix is only for listening to stereo music/videos.

Pros: What can I say bad about these? Not much. They can get VERY loud and stay nice and clear. Its virtually impossible(if not entirely) to find a better speaker set up for the price. The remote is really cool and very handy, also very easy set up.
Cons: Speaker wires are a little short but Im still finding it hard to even complain about that, still perfect for a small room. (even though it fills my entire house with sound)
Other Thoughts: I've went through a lot of speakers these are by far the best, out of the few bose, altecs, polks Ive had these are my favorites.

Excellent set of speakers
Pros: Very good bass and great for movies. I can hear more sounds and the quality is much better then my previous set of speakers. i cant even turn these up to half volume or they are way loud. watching star wars on these is totally awesome.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: make sure to have a good sound card with these like the sound blaster x-fi. demoed these at a local store, cant say where cuz newegg filters competitors names, and cranked them up to half of full volume. they are loud. the entire wall they were on shook from the bass and i could hear it from the other side of the store playing feel good inc.

Amazing Speakers GET THEM!
Pros: These speakers are amazing. Upgrading from 2.1 speakers to these 5.1 the sound is awesome. THE SUBWOOFER IS HUGE!. Oh my "gosh" I hope you can find room for this thing in your room. The speakers are small put the sound is great. Very easy to set up. I've never heard a bass this good for computer speakers.
Cons: The speaker's cords can't reach the back of my mid sized room. Also, a BIG let down, one of the speakers started making a buzzing sound which led to me having to unplug it, it was a rear speaker so not much harm. Get extensions if u want them around your entire room. Finally, You can barely hear the rear speakers but once again a minor flaw that could probably be fixed.
Other Thoughts: For the price these speakers are amazing, if you are looking for 5.1 speakers look no further. The subwoofer delivers such clear bass. If only the cords were a little longer, and if that one speaker didnt break it would be getting 5 stars. It broke after 2 days.

Just what I needed
Pros: Nice easy setup. All color coded wires so you can't mess it up. Very nice design.
Cons: I would agree with everyone else when they say this system has to much bass. I turned down the bass on the remote and in windows xp. That seemed to do the trick for the most part. Still alittle more bass then needed.
Other Thoughts: Overall a great buy for the money. I'm very happy with this product and logitech as a whole. Never had a problem with anything I bought from them. Just gave it a rating of 4 due to the bass

Lovely, yes, lovely
Pros: These are loud and precise. I love them. The sound I stepped up from was just about the same as them (the one under them from Logitech) but I didn't know that they were going to be this much better. The controls for the individual things (bass, center, speakers, etc) is VERY nice to have and if you want to post them on your walls HAVE AT IT! The controls aren't on the speakers so HELL YEAH! These are good for anything you would want in a room of decent size without going to Bose.
Cons: N/A
Other Thoughts: They also look cool.
Big Woofer with Loudness settings!!!! ;)

Pros: Far better than my old stereo speakers. The sub is so nice and loud. I've found your speakers aren't good enough unless they can get you a ticket or make people angry with their loudness.
Cons: My desk is to small now I need a bigger one, darn.

Pros: For this price, I can't imagine anything sounding better then this. Easy to set up, looks nice, swivel base is smart.
Cons: Bass on sub is too loose and loud. The front left and right speakers are much lower then the Center and rear. This is most likely a problem with my computer as no one else has complained about this.
Other Thoughts: If anyone has a solution to why my front left and right speakers are so low let me know. If I turn down the rear and center to compensate, 5.1 sounds horrid and off.

freaking sweet
Pros: I'm pretty big into music and appreciate strong bass and treble. These speakers have better range and significantly cleaner bass than most higher priced systems i have used. You will definitely get your money's worth.
Cons: None yet
Other Thoughts: These guys do put out A LOT of bass (which sounds great and can be turned down) which might annoy some parents who don't appreciate chandaliers rattling or people who don't like base. Also, make sure you have a good sound card with these or the rear satellites will sound under powered. I personally recommend creative and have had difficulties with Turtle Beach cards.

the bass...
Pros: Good hits on the bass. 5.1 surround is really nice coming from a 2.1. Matches every piece of computer item i have. litteraly everything (including mouse pad and headphones). Great price. Plays most music very well.
Cons: The bass is outrageous. I am one to get headacks easily from bass, especially during winter. i have it turned almost all the way down and at 35% in creative controlls and still shakes everything. The systems plays electronic (jungle, trance, nu-jazz, dnb) the best imo. But with deathmetal/speedmetal, mids are lost and it becomes very bassy. it works as well as my 2.1 on metal but i prefer not so much bass with 16th note double bass. also a mic jack on the controller would be perfect.
Other Thoughts: have it hooked up to an xtreme gamer pro sound card. sounds pretty dang nice. the reason i wish it had a mic jack on the controller is because my headset needs it. i have to use an extension or splitter to use my headphones since the mic is hooked up to the back of my computer. also it would have been nice to have optical input but thats what the z-5500 is for i guess. *NOTE* TURN OFF MATRIX MODE IF YOU HAVE NO SOUND! this was my problem when i first got my sound card. the rear speakers and sub didnt work because i had matrix on. DOH!

Pros: These speakers are excellent! I have a laptop and have been using some Logitech 2.0 USB speakers--I thought they were pretty good, until I got these. I am building a desktop and got these for it, but in the meantime, am using them with my laptop. Wow!! That's all I can say. They blow my old ones out of the water--the quality is excellent, even with just a 2 channel input. My music and dvds sound superb, but haven't tried gaming with them yet
Cons: They aren't cheaper?
Other Thoughts: Excellent speakers, and I recommend them to anyone on the market for some good 5.1 speakers

Want surround sound gaming / movie speakers? GET THESE!
Pros: After opening the box and taking all the equipment out I found setting these speakers up easy. The instructions are simple and well written to tell you which speaker plugs where or goes where. Alternatively, you can just match the colors and read on the back of the sub or speaker and it tells you where it goes. The front control panel is really nice, especially when you are watching a movie or in a game, it makes adjustments to your sound levels easy. These speakers seem a little "stiff" but I know that's because they are new and after using them for a few days they will loosen up and the sound will get better. The sub puts out good sound, although it's not very noticeable on the low volumes, even when it is cranked all the way up. However on the high volumes, turning it down is almost a must to hear anything else, but the controller makes that an easy task! I was also surprised about the cable length on the rear speakers. I have them both a little over halfway back across my room.
Cons: Quiet sub at low volumes, loud sub at high volumes, but with the control panel, it is easy to adjust the levels.
Other Thoughts: These are great for gaming or watching movies, but for music they aren't needed. If you listen to music without enabling matrix the speaker system will run in a 2.1 configuration.

Works as expected
Pros: Attractive, well packaged, sturdy construction, simple setup, great sounding at this price point.
Cons: As many many others have stated, subwoofer is simply too loud to complement the rest of the system. Cannot use the "game console connect" feature simultaneously while hooked up to a pc. Bass is "muddy" and highs are not "crystal clear" as some have stated.
Other Thoughts: While not perfect, this little system sounds pretty decent. Especially considering the price I paid (open box).I was bummed when I discovered that I could not simultaneously have my PS2 and pc at the same time. You have to disconnect a cable at the pc, plug in the white/red plugs then switch your system from 5.1 to 2.1! Oh well, can't have it all I guess.

Pros: The sound performance is very crisp, strong, and also very clear. Well worth the $134.99 if your going to get good speakers.
Cons: Nothing so far, The only con is that the whole neighborhood is complaining, and that the bass is EXTREME, but i love it.
Other Thoughts: Maybe the subwoofer could be a bit smaller? It's like.. almost bigger than a 20 - 30 inch screen TV
And maybe if the back speakers cords will be longer, *cause i mount them on my wall* but it's alright, they are still Great with extension cords.

Great Sound, Great Support
Pros: This set has excellent sound, and more power than you think, or need. The bass is verry loud and captures verry low tones. Yes, it does sound like at the movies, BUT its still not the quality of the speakers youll find in the theatres. Low price.
Cons: The only cons i can think of are that every time i try to play a video game with the souce engine, some of the sounds get distorted and screechy =/
This could be the fact that im using integrated audio tho...
Other Thoughts: NEWEGG ROCKS! They have awesome customer support and FAST shipping.

Only lasted a year
Pros: Worked beautifully for about a year. Very clear sharp sound.
Cons: Maybe a little too hard to adjust bass down. Started dying after about a year.
Other Thoughts: Should last longer. Started by losing a rear chanel, then one of the front ones went out. Remaining speakers do provide fairly loud sounds without any distortion. Would be happy if they had lasted longer.

Great, but Lacking highs
Pros: Thundering bass from the sub-woofer, accurate sound reproduction.
Cons: Thundering bass that really can't be lowered, even at the lowest bass setting. Can be too "boomy."
Other Thoughts: These are great, but the lack of highs due to the satellite speakers really being mids is kind of a disappointment to me. I have 8 year old Altec Lansing 2.1's that were $75 and have much better highs and the bass is not overpowering like these.

Very happy with this product
Pros: Great sound for the money, too much bass (nice to have the option for more), easy to setup, great volume/settings wired-control pod.
Cons: none yet... a friend has this and dropped one of the read speakers a foot and the stand broke (so be careful).
Other Thoughts: unfortunately, there is no microphone jack on the control pod - would be a nice extra feature... there is a convenient headphone jack though.

These speakers are incredible
Pros: sounds crisp and great. the sub is LOUD along with the speakers themselves, and they enhance anybodys gaming experience. Music, games, videos & everything else sounds awesome.
Cons: none at all
Other Thoughts: great price if you ask me, just by them.

Pros: This system sounds as good as our $1000 surround system! It is honestly an amazing buy for the money! (It completely owns my mom's Bose set that cost 4 times as much). The bass on this is amazing.
Cons: Its not free! Also the rear cables are a little too short but thats an easy fix with an inexpensive extension cable.

The best I ever had
Pros: Great 5.1 PC system, great sound quality, works well with creative console and X-fi cards.
Cons: blown speaker after about 3-4 years of use (not really bad as the system aged VERY well... but worth mentioning)
Other Thoughts: This is the best speaker system I've had for my PC. After one of my speakers starting going out (after 3-4 years of heavy use) and being unable to find a replacement speaker I decided to upgrade to the z-5500. I regret making that decision and wish I had gotten another set of 5300's instead. The 5300's simply sound better to me, and were FAR easier to configure for my use.

Awesome Overall Performance
Pros: Great bang for the buck at a little over a hundred bucks! The only system out there with a similar bang for the buck is Logitech's own 5500 which costs over two hundred dollars, but sounds cleaner at the very loudest levels. If you're looking in this price range, you'd be crazy not to at least hear this system before you buy anything else!
Cons: I wish the bass was just a little bit tighter and a little less boomy, BUT IT STILL BLOWS AWAY EVERYTHING ELSE OUT THERE UNDER 200 BUCKS!
Other Thoughts: I just replaced a 2 year old $399 Klipsch iFi system which consists of two satelites and a subwoofer and while the bass on that setup is more powerful and natural sounding, the overall presentation on the 5.1 logitech seems to impress my teenager more. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great Speakers
Pros: These baby's have a matrix setting that you can turn on and off. I still have no clue what it means or how it works, but when you press it your music sounds 10x better, I wish everything had a matrix button.
Cons: None yet, but its not really a con is that the wires could be longer.

gets the job done
Pros: well i got these things, hooked em up and they worked fine, got them working in surround with a game and it was just what i expected. the bass is SOOOOO loud but u just have to turn a knob to get it lower. really puts u into the atmosphere you want for gaming.
Cons: none so far.

Great Sound at a good price
Pros: Bought these speakers two years ago to replace a really cheap pair that I'd had for a long time. The difference in sound was amazing. The bass was loud but not farty, though at the default level it can be too loud in comparison to the other frequencies for neighbors in an apartment. The remote unit makes it simple to change the volume, though I typically keep it set loud and change the volume in my operating system.
Having surround sound in games is a real treat, and this system affordable and can do quite well with anything you throw at it. There may be some audiophiles that can tell the difference in sound between this and more expensive systems, but I certainly can't. Overall, its a great set of speakers that you can get without breaking the bank.
Cons: The system loses presets for all of the sound settings such as volume and the bass level when the unit is disconnected from power. It's a pretty minor thing, since it only really happens if I lose power from bad weather.

Good for the time they last
Pros: I loved it for the two years I had it working fine. The sounds excellent, if you know how to control bass the subwoofer is no issue, the remote is actually pretty nice once you get used to it. The speaker covers even come off so you can clean it.
Cons: One year after purchase, rear right starts fading... about a year and a half now and both rear speakers are dead. This actually has happened to my last pair of Logitech speakers and my friends as well, so I dunno its good for the time it works but they just don't last long enough... I'm looking elsewhere for speakers next time.
Other Thoughts: Maybe I should just buy an actual home theater system for a TV and hook it up to that instead? These computer speaker makers seem to all have issues when it comes to longevity... my old stereo systems from the 70's and 80's still work to this day so whats the deal?

Pretty Good when they worked
Pros: These this are amazing Ive had them for almost 3 years now and they are still beautiful.
Cons: 1 problem. about a year ago I notice a crackling in the front left speaker and I think its the speaker itself. It turned out to be the speacker port, Im in the process of replacing the port but I was rather angry when this happened because these things are awesome. And rear cables could be longer.
Other Thoughts: Anyone know how long the waranty on these is.

The Z-5300e Brings PC Entertainment The Next Level
Pros: Handsome finish, Excellent sound separation, Ample power.
Cons: Wired remote not responsive, short surround speaker wires, noteceable hum @ around 75% volume, bass in movies a little soft but that could also be my on board sound card
Other Thoughts: This is an awesome upgrade from my old Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers. Logitech packaging has always been excellent and this is no exception. Each speaker is securely tucked in individual compartments enclosed in not 1 but 2 boxes. I currently have an on board Realtek 7.1 HD Audio sound card running on Vista and it does the job fairly well. The mid range of the satellite speakers is clear and sub has ample power producing clean, tight bass. The sound of bullets flying over your head in Crysis and GRAW2 will make you run for cover and the water effects in BioShock sounds so realistic. Well worth the price!

Pleasantly surprised
Pros: Good sound for the price (replaced my blown Klipsch THX ProMedia $500 speakers). Easy set up. They look good and have a slightly smaller footprint than my old Klipsch speakers.
Cons: I prefer a smooth volume control where this one has notches/levels. There is quite a bit of difference between each notch. One notch is too low and the very next one is too loud. Additionally, the bass is a bit over powering. I had to turn it almost all the way down so it would not over power the other 5 speakers. Again with the volume control it is difficult to adjust the bass. I’ve used win XP volume controls and Creative audio HQ to adjust everything and now they sound perfect.
Other Thoughts: As always, Newegg rocks!

Pros: Excellent Sound. BASE IS AMAZING for the price, especially with the rebate.
Cons: THE SAME PROBLEM FOR ALL THAT ARE DISAPPOINTED THE WIRES ARE TOOOOOO SHORT. My room is average size and i cant get the speakers to all the corners. I DONT GET IT IT the extension of the wires will only cost logitech a fraction. This is my only problem and it really bothers me thus the 3 eggs.
Other Thoughts: VERY GOOD SOUND Though. If wiring is not an issue than by all means buy this system. BEST FOR ITS PRICE AND SOUND QUALITY. NEVER UNDERSTOOD Y PEOPLE GO FOR EXPENSIVE BRANDS LIKE B*OSE. THESE DO JUST AS WELL.

Pros: The sound is clear, the hook up is easy. they look nice
Cons: The cords for the front two speakers are short, they could have been longer, and if you arent in a bedroom then the rear speaker cables will probably be too short.
Other Thoughts: the sub is huge, think 13" tv

Very Good Sound, Excellent Value
Pros: Very Good Sound, can't quite "crank-it" with your favorite rock band but very respectable performance indeed. When you consider the price, they are simply amazing.
Cons: Apparently they are discontinued, buy them while they last.
Other Thoughts: I didn't expect these to be nearly as good as they turned out to be. You rarely get more than you pay for, but this might just be an exception...... ***WindowsXP Pro, Intel QX6700 oc'ed to 3.47 GHz, 2GB OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 Platinum SLI RAM, Evga 680i MoBoard, Evga GeForce 8800GTX, 2 ea Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 Hard Drives, Antec Nine Hundred Case, PC P&C Silencer Quad 750, SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatality Pro, Thermalright Ultra-120, Artic Silver***

Great
Pros: These speakers sound absolutely amazing for everything you could possible want to do with them. The bass hits very hard and the other 5 speakers sound great. I couldn't ask for better speakers, especially for the price.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: You definitely will want an equalizer if you plan on using these for music, because it makes a drastic difference in sound quality and projection.

Nice Speaker System
Pros: clearly labled speakers are easy to set up, sounds really clear, and i really like the video game adapter hooked up to my 360
Cons: only sounds good in a 5 channel video card with the 3 cords (green, orange, black), otherwise bass can be pretty weak
Other Thoughts: excellent sound for the price

2nd set works fine too!
Pros: No speakers in this price range touch this set. Bass is outstanding, highs are VERY clear and not piercing. Overall sound is good. Seems to sound best with flat equalizer. THX is amazing and works very well (watch Cars or Star Wars and you'll see).
Cons: 6" woofer is muddy with some sounds, but it's rare. Bass isn't super punchy, but you won't get that out of a small woofer.
Other Thoughts: Rosewill R5602-BK, Thermaltake TR2 RX 450W, GIGABYTE GA-MA69GM-S2H, AMD X2 6000+ AM2, ZEROTherm Nirvana NV120, 4GB (4x1GB) A-DATA DDR2 800, WD Caviar SE 160GB and SE16 320GB, Sound Blaster Audigy SE, LG 18X DVD burner, Vista Home Premium 64-bit

good
Pros: These are a nice set of speakers they look nice and have a overwhelming amount of bass. However make note they are not thx certified dont let the name confuse you.Is there a diffrence yes of course.Ill say it again the bass however is deep with low range hince the fact you can feel it pretty well. This will be good for a movie such as twister or a good action movie with good sound affect. For example feeling the semi on the road befor you see or hear it coming. This bass does that type of job or so it seems so far in my testing witch will be very little as these gets shipped out to a customer. Now the 5 speakers seem to be good and clear however they dont match the bass you will need to keep the bass down or it will over sound your mids and treb.
Cons: I have a older pair of altecs that are thx cert and let me tell ya they blow theses out of the room.Course the price was much higher. My cust really dont have anything to compare these to so he will be extreamly happy and with that it makes me happy.I think they need to level theses out more is all.If that is ever done bang 5 stars from me however as is ill stick with the 4.I will buy again if it fits the bill!
Other Thoughts: I apears that new egg will only ship theses via ground so if you live near shipping source its good but if the source is in cali and you live in maine you will see it in 5 days in my case they shipped from tenn and i live in ohio so it took 2 days but oddly ups needed me to be there for sig so they was a day late??? go figure.

Music to my ears
Pros: Excellent sound. VERY bass heavybut if that's too much you can turn it down.. It is very loud, usually I have at medium and I am ok, still haven't tried to go all the way max, cause I don't want to blow it. It is also very nice that you can hook it up to your game system, so you can enjoy your favorite game console in surround sound.
Cons: The sub is pretty big, much bigger than I expected, but it fit fine under my desk and makes sweet sweet sounds to my ears. The cables are also kinda short and mounting them on wall makes the speakers looks very awkward.
Other Thoughts: Amazing product, specially for how much it costs. I pretty much have the best sound system right now out of everyone I know, and everyone that hears it, loves it and it's great for parties.

Awesome speakers for the price...
Pros: Excellent bass, bass sounds natural, excellent sound, no static, cheap price, excellent looks, easy to set up, volume controller is very useful.
Cons: Cables are much too short, subwoofer weights a lot, very heavy overall.
Other Thoughts: Excellent speakers. If you're looking for a good 5.1 surround sound system with excellent bass, get this. You definitely won't be disappointed.

Sounds ok, I guess...
Pros: As always - Newegg for the quick shipping and great low prices.
Cons: Speakers arrived defective. The left rear speaker output wasn't working. I checked it with other speakers, and other inputs, didn't work. It did, however come with a QA sticker, which, I guess, means nothing.
Having to pay a third of the purchase price for shipping to return them.
Other Thoughts: Waiting on the RMA, hopefully it won't take too long.

Circumstantial Evidence
Pros: Very high quality set. Sounds pretty good, no distortion at high volume. Subwoofer is perfect size and good clean sound for any room.
Cons: Maybe it's just me and my inability to tune these well, but they seem to lack something. Very good for watching movies with a DVD player, but when gaming on PC the surround sound isn't always so great. Music comes out really well on them though, with good bass and clear treble.
Other Thoughts: For the money, I don't think you can beat this set. Very high quality. For me though, headphones are the only way to game on PC. Maybe when paired with a good sound card you could get better results - IF it's tuned right on the EQ.

bumpin'
Pros: clear sound. great design, the speakers have a good feel to them. an all around sturdy product.
Cons: no small tweeters.... only single sized speakers for each speaker. would be nice if they each had a small tweeter.

Amazing bang for your buck
Pros: Loud, rich sound, I can't believe a 5.1 system at this price can be so awesometastic! If you want a 5.1 system for gaming/movies whatever, dont waste any more time browsing, just get these and you will be happy.
Cons: I almost subtracted a star for the wires on the satellites which I think should be longer. If you want them in the corners of the room you might have to extend them. My sub is next to my desk on the left, and the right front speaker won't even reach to the right corner of the desk!
Other Thoughts: I love the sound from these so much I gave them a 5 despite the short satellite wires. Everything seems durable and of high quality as well. Logitech makes good stuff.

Wonderful for the price
Pros: -Loud enough for my dorm room. -5.1 surround anyone? -Good quality sound. -Easy mounting on walls or desks, tables, etc. -Headphone out means no switching cables out on the back of your computer.
Cons: -The cables could be longer... I had to use extensions in my dorm and at home. -No digital input means I have to use an external soundcard on my MacBook Pro. -A little bass-heavy when using a stereo source (but hey, some people love that...)
Other Thoughts: It's loud enough to play 1812 Overture so everyone in my wing can hear and feel it.

Incredibly powerful and impressive
Pros: Incredible power and pure, clean sound seemingly at any volume-if you can stand to crank this bad boy up. Solid construction, very reasonable price.
Cons: Not much-the front satellites need longer cords for my taste, but I tend to keep them far away. Permanently corded satellites can be a bummer for some as well.
Other Thoughts: When my Logitech z-640's finally died, I did some research and decided on this set as the 5500's were out of my price range-and I have not one regret. The bass is astonishing and at full blast it rattles the house-but it is never overwhelming or out of proportion, unless I want it to be.
Another solid, phenomenal Logitech product. I love these things!

great deal
Pros: Sounds great you can hook them up to your tv or computer or videogame system. For the price you can not beat them THX certified.
Cons: The bass is loud almost to loud even on the low setting I am just saying this as a con because i live in an apartment. The only real con is that the wires for the speakers are way to short.

Really great set
Pros: Very strong bass, adjustable bass and center speakers.
Cons: Short front, rear, and center cables. Each cable could be at least three feet longer.
Other Thoughts: Very nice speaker set for this money. Works great. Doesn't produce a lot of heat. Speakers and subwoofer looks very nice. Very happy.

Pros: Both the sound and look of these speakers are great! I haven't bought a 5.1 sound card yet, but even with just the 1 plug, they work great! They are LOUD and the bass is great! For the price, they are the best speakers I have heard!
Cons: The only problem that i have is that I live in the dorm, so, I don't have enough room to get the true surround sound theater, but it's still great...
Other Thoughts: Delivery is really quick. It took a day to get it processed and then only 2 days to get it to me...

Wonderful speakers
Pros: Pretty much everything. The system pumps out good sound in every way, looks nice, isn't hard to set up or anything. Easily adapts to hook up to any TV appliance, DVD players, Xbox, etc.
Cons: None that I've found.
Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a good quality surround sound system, I'd recommend this one. It's definitely worth the money.

Cant beat the price!
Pros: Price,THX certified, Brand name, 5.1 setup, Amazing Bass, Sleek looking, Removable Grills, Wall mountable without mounts.
Cons: Sub can be overpowering, not digital, Hardwired with RCA cables, Hardwired Remote, Short rear speaker cables.
Other Thoughts: You absolutely cannot beat these speakers for the price they can be found at as of now. For another month there are rebates being offered, check pricegrabber for amazing deals.
After some tweaking with my SoundBlaster software I had these speakers sounding the way I wanted. Out of the box the base is overpowering and the sound is very 'muddy'. This was easy to fix and movies in surround sound was great! For most music I usually just use stereo mode and use only the front speakers. For the price these speakers are a steal!

Wow...
Pros: I've had these for about a month and a half and they're great. Excellent sound, great for watching movies. Also love adapter for PS2 and DVD players and etc. Great buy, awesome price.
Cons: Lots of bass, sometimes too much. Unless your sound card can redirect the bass frequency, which it more than likely can, DO NOT buy this if you live in an apartment. At the lowest setting this thing is still pretty heavy.
Other Thoughts: I'm moving into a house soon so I can't wait to actually use these.....

Solid Gaming Speakers.
Pros: Powerful. With my PC volume at maximum. I usually don't set the volume setting of the dial over the second notch. The Speakers are very well made and very nice. Sound great with movies and Video Games. I can make everything in my room jump off the ground. It comes with an adapter to plug left and right audio for a gaming system or dvd player up to it. Put it into matrix mode and you have simulated 5.1 for your console system or dvd player.
Cons: Perfect Audio System for the money.
Other Thoughts: Bolt everything down :D

Pros: Great sound, great quality, awasome bass sound, great looking too.
I RECOMMENDED, FOR A FEW BUCKS MORE YOU GET THIS GREAT SYSTEM. NEWEGG MADE EVERYTHING EASY AND SMOOTH AS USUAL!!!
Cons: So far....nothing
Other Thoughts: The satellites cables are a bit short if you are playing to have them at the four corners of your room. Otherwise putting them at the wall behing the PC monitor works great.

Great Buy
Pros: I would have to say the sound quality is great, though I have noticed the limitations of the sub doing tone tests, it is a great product. I have watched a few movies in 5.1 and it was just amazing. My roommate thought it was lightning outside at parts of 300. Great buy.
Cons: Noise Complaints by neighbors?

Nice speakers
Pros: Great great bass, just what i expected. I missed having a good sound system! Great bang for your buck.
Cons: Too much bass, but not that is a con really, its quite easily fixable, use the bass adjuster and it works to anybody's needs.
Other Thoughts: Speaker system that delivers what i wanted, for the price i wanted. Nothing else matches that. However, for the rebate.. newegg didnt send an invoice or receipt with the order.. Gonna have to talk with newegg soon and see if that effects my rebate. Great system!

Overheating
Pros: Great sound
Cons: It overheats. The heatsink on the right side when looking at the front gets hot to the touch. You cannot touch it for more than 2 seconds after you have been playing music at 75% volume for about 3 hrs. The sound kept cutting out so I checked what was going on and it was overheating. Natural airflow is not enough.

Big heavy box, nice speakers.
Pros: This is a nice set of speakers, 5.1 surround for games. Big huge sub. Simple installation with attached cables to speakers and a single rca plug that is color coded so no more guessing what goes where when your on the floor. Very bass loaded.
Cons: Cables to back speakers are about 10 feet or so, not very long when you think they are going behind you.
The volume control pod red indicator lights are outdated looking and extremely bright. In a time where the blue led is king, why are they using a very bright orangeish red color with green for volume indication led's?
Other Thoughts: Make sure you don't forget to set the switch on the back of the sub for 2/4.1 or 5.1 configuration. I am not sure why such a switch is needed but it does help to have that set while troubleshooting, lots of time wasted haha.

Read this then buy them!
Pros: Very clean sound. Very pretty system.
Cons: Wires connect to the left (a con for My room and computer), the cables from the puter to the subwoffer unit is only 6 feet long, I need 8'.
Other Thoughts: Now read this! I'm playing mp3's and cd's right now. I don't do games, waste of time. Movies? I got a tv for that and hollywood sucks anyway. The product: You get a big (14") and heavy cube that is the sub/amp unit and 5 small (5", 7" with stand) satellites. Very cute. The whole unit is well made. The sound is very, very good! It is clean. What you put in, you get out. At half volume it's loud enough. There is no distortion. At 3/4's you'll start to lose the clean sound from the satellites but what do you expect? The sub will handle that and full power too, and it overpowers the sats. You aging rockers if your eardrums still work, listen up. I ran Polk's off a Yamaha amp back then. I rattled windows, made the neighbors whine big time, and was proud of it! This isn't the same ballgame. Neither is the money invested. I'm pleased with these speakers, and Logitech. 5.1 should be enough for you. GRAB these speakers!

I love em
Pros: LOUD and very good base. Nice controls if you do not like the base, you can turn it off fairly easily. Sound quality is very nice also. Price is unbeatable! Battlefield 2 is incredible!
Cons: Base is a little to high but with Itunes you can very easily turn it down. Controller is corded witch is lame.
Other Thoughts: I don't really have a spot to set up the surround but i tested it out a little and it was very nice.

Awesome speakers!
Pros: Loud and easy to hook up. Subwoofer will ROCK your house! Barely even hit 2 lights on the controller and your windows are already shuddering. Movies sound amazing in 5.1 surround. You will not want to go to the movie theater after experiencing these bad boys. THX certified. Games and music are enhanced as well.
Cons: Absolutely nothing. If anything, the left and right back speakers and the remote are not wireless like this set's successor, the Z-5500.
Other Thoughts: I recommend getting a nice sound card for these babies. Although on-board or a cheap sound card will do these speakers good, a card such as the Sound Blaster X-Fi will unleash audio-goodness. My SB Fatal1ty rocks with these speakers and vice versa. Mine set was not purchased through Newegg, however it was purchased on e Bay from a refurb-seller. My set is refurbished and I have not seen (or heard) anything less than perfect. This price listed is cheaper than what I paid!!!

FANTASTIC
Pros: Great sound for gaming and movies. Bass response is awesome for 2142 and the likes. The surround of these speakers really puts you on top of things. I hear the sound of the combat knife behind me when it skips off my back. The satalite speakes have saved me more than once.
Cons: Cords could be longer but that won't change the great performance.
Other Thoughts: NEWEGG ROCKS!!! After reading the negative reviews I figgure those people are like movie reviewers, they love to hate. If you're on the fence about these, BUY THEM FOR THIS PRICE. I paid $200 for mine and don't regret a penny spent after 2 yars of ownership.

Great Speakers
Pros: I have the older version of these speakers for almost 3 years and they still rock. I easily shook my dorm room floor with the bass cube. The clarity is OK, I still get some fuzz. I would highly recommend these.
Cons: The rear speaker cables could be longer. this can be fixed with a soldering gun, speaker wire, and new RCA jacks.
Other Thoughts: Great speaker system and good sale going on now. I would recommend going to the shack and upgrading the wires to gold plating for better clarity as the gold provided better conductivity. Enjoy.

This is the Best*
Pros: This unit for the money is by far the absolute best on the market!
Cons: n/a
Other Thoughts: You have got to be crazy* not to buy this product! It will scare your neighbors away and it works perfect on gaming & music...) have a decent creative or whatever sound card!) Onboard audio sucks~ I promise* If you are not a audiophile weirdo - you will love this setup... BEWARE the woofer is huge!! lol the 5500"s yeah are better but why spend the bling*

Satisfactory sound, bad controls
Pros: The sound is fairly good for games and movies but not great for music.
Cons: There is no way to fully disable the subwoofer, a must for those of us who have roommates but would still like to listen to music at night. Even at the lowest level the woofer is fairly loud.
Other Thoughts: I tried to return this item to Newegg in exchange for another product, but with restocking fees and shipping I would have been out the cost of the product

Absolutely Astounding
Pros: These speakers are outstanding. I've had them for over a year and a half now, and I still love them. Bass heavy, blah, I run the sub on full all the time... I love bass. =P Seriously though, these speakers could probably damage things if you set everything to 100%, and I'm hardly kidding. The system rattles walls that are several rooms down (and I live in a big house).
Cons: None to speak of, really!
Other Thoughts: I've had these speakers for over a year and a half now, I didn't buy them from NewEgg, but I still wanted to voice my opinion. I might buy another set of these for the basement soon.

awesome speakers
Pros: great bass and treble with the right sound card....im using the x-fi extreme gamer which gives you much more control over these speakers than the control pod. replaced my klipsch promedia 4.1 with these and couldn't be happier. Sub has much tighter bass than the klipsch one. Unbelievable deal for $90, get them while the rebate is still good!!!!
Cons: requires a bit of fine tuning with your sound card to really get these speakers to shine...only a 6.5" sub, wish it was 8 :( other than that these are a great deal

Best sound for best price!
Pros: This is the second set of Z-5300e's I've boughten and both are absolutely amazing. One set I've had over 2 years and still sounds crystal clear. The sub gives you plenty of thump and all 4 speakers give you great surround sound for gaming or movies.
Cons: Absolutely none.
Other Thoughts: You can't beat the price. Jump on it now, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Fairly nice 5.1 setup
Pros: Good sound production, good build quality, loud but not distorted...easily one of the better setups I've ever heard for the price.
Cons: Cables are a tad bit short, very very heavy on the bass, really missing a solid midrange.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a 500 Watt stereo that had developed a short. Wow...great surround sound, great for movies, games, music, whatever. I haven't turned the sub over 3...unless I wanted to have some fun with the guys next door!!! Midrange doesn't really exist, but all in all, a good buy, especially with the rebate.

great speakers, incredible deal
Pros: 5.1 speakers that sound great for a very low price. What more can you ask?
Cons: Slight hiss at high volume (but I had to make an effort to listen to it). Its a little hard to get music to sound perfect, but I think this is common with mini-satelite systems in general. Made in China (but what isn't?) I paid alot more than they cost here (but still got a good deal)
Other Thoughts: This is a bare-bones system, which makes sense because all the things this system lacks, can be compensated by the PC it will be connected to. Music is too bassy? Use the PC's equalizer to fix it. Remote is wired? Get a wireless mouse and control them with the PC. You get the point.
I'm doing the HTPC thing with these. They work great for movies, and can do music quite well with some equalizer tweaking. I was afraid it would seem dorm-roomish, but with stragegic placement the speakers are totally discrete (well, the sub-woofer took a little more effort). Had to get some M/F RCA cables to extend the ones that came with it, but the cost was negligible. Shop around for those, and don't go too skinny and you'll do fine.
