Software a huge minus
Pros: Very good voice quality on the HQ/Hi setting. Built in microphone does a very good job of picking up even quiet speakers in large rooms.
Cons: The Digital Wave Player software is a train wreck. Awkward, slow, and clunky. No ability to specify folders other than the preset folders created by the software. Should have standard USB storage class connectivity like other Olympus devices have had for years. Such a step back.
Other Thoughts: Take care of your software CD if you buy this product. Olympus charges twenty dollars to download the software and provides no updates.
Overall a good product, the software just blows chunks.

Pros: The quality of this recorder is excelent when you compare it to others by price. It was easy to figure out, the software is simple and files are easy to transfer. Sound quality after transfer is very good.
Cons: It does not have a a Backlight for the display.
Other Thoughts: My wife owns a slightly lesser model but the case and controls are exact, she is very hard on small electronic devices like cell phones and such. Her Olympus looks to have taken a terrible beating and still works perfectly so this one will most likely be durable as well.

Good enough
Pros: Picked my professors up in both a lecture room setting and in a small classroom setting.
Cons: Software is kind of clunky. The recording is not very clear, but for just listening to a speech it is fine enough. I wouldn't recommend this for trying to record instruments even on HQ mode.
Other Thoughts: People say you can't transfer files to your PC, but you can. Transfer the files with the Wave player software and then look in C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\My Documents\Digital Wave Player\Message

excellent, crystal clear good sound
Pros: excellent does exactly what it is supposed to do. People say it has no off button, but that is rediculous. The hold button is the power button.
Cons: none, it has a power button it is the hold button

well-designed
Pros: easy to use, good button layout, alot of functions, easy to read the display, good documentation -- also nice looking
Cons: had some problems with the software which is kind of primitive, crashed or hung my system several times (XP wdn't boot w device plugged in) -- don't really trust it but don't need it much either ...

Great Voice Recorder
Pros: A great voice recorder. Even works well for "in the pocket" recordings. USB connectivity is a must.
Cons: No off button, simple idle poweroff.
Other Thoughts: Great.

Not perfect but works good
Pros: Good operation for the price. Records voices perfectly and I like the easy operation. Having seperate file folders a plus. Files downloaded to my PC without any problems.
Cons: The microphone had to be covered in a foam to prevent the interference of wind. It will also picked up noise from any cantact with the recorder.
Other Thoughts: If you are going to just record lectures or any other instance where the recorded is still on a table I highly recommend this recorder. I couldnt use it on a project walk-throughs because it was in my pocket and the only sounds you heard was my shirt rubbing against the microphone.

NICE!
Pros: Nice sound quality. Lots of folders. It can save space by letting it record only when it hears sounds. USB port is a lot of help because it can readily be transferred to your pc.
Cons: * No on and off, but the mode button serves as the power button! the only thing is that it takes a little while downloading the files to the pc.
Other Thoughts: Fast delivery! New egg is really great!

Excellent Product!
Pros: Amazing that something this small does such a good job. I needed something I could carry in my pocket and have handy during the day to record notes for reports. This recorder is perfect and I find the voice clarity outstanding when transcribing. Having clearly marked function buttons on the front is a big plus. I'm not the family technoid but my husband says the software and USB connection will be a snap for him to set up.
Cons: None at all.
Other Thoughts: This was a smooth purchase transaction, with great communication from Newegg and blazingly fast delivery.

Very good!
Pros: Very discreet, looks just like a cell phone. Light and easy to use. Good quality sound.
Cons: Screen not backlit like a cell phone is. Hard to see in dark areas. No power button, only "hold" button. Bundled software is cumbersome and hard to understand. Saves files as WAV. When you stop recording, and start again, it creates a new file making it hard to keep track of classes.
Other Thoughts: Over all very functional. Helps during class a great deal.

Excelent!
Comments: I really like my new toy! You can use it for 16 hours for voice rec (e.g., when attending classes, when sound quality is not an issue). It still takes 8 hours on intermediate quality (up to 11 KHz, and the mike is good). I like the schedule mode, when the files are automatically associated with the current date. The design is ergonomic. The reason I bought it for was the PC connection, I can review some talks on my PC. Overall, an excelent little recorder. The newegg price was super, too,

Comments: Got this for my fiance for college lectures. She loves it and says it's really easy to use, with a couple minor caveats...the first was when changing the batteries, she says it took several minutes for the recorder to get it's settings back and recognize she had files on it and such. Kinda freaked her out at the time because she had some important lectures on it and thought she lost them. The other is the software, it's pretty easy to use, but it's kinda awkward to export the files from the program.
Again, another great product from Newegg for a great price delivered really quick!!!
Thanks again Newegg!!!
