Great remote
Pros: I own two of these remotes. One I've had for over 5 years and about 3 for the other. Easy to program, easy to use, easy for the wife to understand. Sure, the newer remotes may offer more bells and whistles, but I prefer this model over any of the newer Logitech remotes.
Cons: The screen cracked after a 4 foot fall but that's to be expected when it hit ceramic tile, I guess.

Great Remote
Pros: This is a great remote and is very easy to program. As with all products of this type there is some trial and error involved however it's really easy this way.
Cons: The only bad thing about the remote is it runs through batteries quickly. All of the buttons and the led screen light up when using it and it drains the 2 aaa batteries in only a couple of weeks of use.
Other Thoughts: I've been looking for a remote that will handle all of my devices. This is the first one I've seen that controls my Buffalo Link Theater media player.

Nice
Pros: Computer based setup is nice, although the actual installation was a bit akward. The wizards to setup what you want it to do are very straight forward and simple to program. Seems to be working pretty good with all of my components so far, with the exception of the myhd-130 in my HTPC box.
Cons: I wish the buttons were more distinct. Can't feel my way around the remote to get the button I want because they are too close to one another, and all too similar. The LCD doesn't really display very useful information for some of my devices. The top function buttons aren't translucent and have very small text on them, making them indecipherable to those with bad vision.
Other Thoughts: All in all, it does a decent job, but I would have probablly opted for something I could use more blindly.

Pros: Easy setup, simple use, looks good. Worked with all devices I have.
Cons: Buttons are a bit awkward, not a big problem but could possibly be a bit bigger.
Other Thoughts: Great product, other than a slight dislike of the buttons product is great. Would purchase again.

Steep Learning Curve
Pros: Seems to be able to communicate with any and all devices one might have. Has the right buttons for shortcuts you want and has customizable lcd for anything else. OHHH it glows!
Cons: Took me a few hours and several remote updates to get it all working correctly. Like many of these large remotes, does not feel great in my hand.
Other Thoughts: I am a fan of this remote and I would recommend it to someone who wants an all-in-one remote. I like how easy it is to update the remote, cant wait for that PS3! I am very content with it now that I have had it for a month or so and say I give it an A-

Best universal remote we've had
Pros: Very nice having the computer-based programming. Good range/fairly wide angle right/left but seems fickle in the vertical. When it doesn't work right, really nice help button and walks through the fix! Superb idea.
Cons: Buttons still a tad small. Not all keys readable using the backlight. Key arrangement not that ergonomically pleasing to me.
Other Thoughts: Tried a lesser model first but needed PVR keys for a replayTV DVR among other components. It is the best we've had so far, but this is my first logitech remote.

Pros: The initial setup is very easy, and will allow someone who doesn't understand how your system works to operate it. It's pretty increadible. If you are willing to commit the time, you can customize the setup and get it to control your system in depth.
Cons: To really get it where you can easily use it for all in depth functions will take some time, and numerous trips back to the computer (where it is programed). You really have to understand how everything works to get the higher functions together.
Other Thoughts: My wife is amazed at how easy it is to use our home theater now. She used to never use the system unless I was home. Now she uses it when I'm out of town. Every time I find something it's not set up to do, I can go back to the computer and add the function. I love this remote!

Excellent Remote
Pros: This remote is excellent. The interface is intuitive and well designed and the software (though not the fastest) is also very nice. Logitech's customer support is A++ (see other thoughts).
Cons: Small buttons + fat fingers = small issue, but nothing serious enough to detract from this fabulous remote.
Other Thoughts: Like the reviewer below me, i couldnt get my menu based input on my tv to properly change. I contacted technical support and the problem was fixed within half an hour. Not only that, but the tech guy did it all remotely and i simply downloaded the updated controller configurations from within my software on my home PC. One of the many advantages of using online software.

Takes more effort than it should...
Pros: In theory this remote should make using your entertainment center a breeze, and I can definitely see the potential for that. I've seen other models of the Harmony remote work flawlessly on other home theater systems.
Cons: The TV that I own has selects inputs from a menu using the up and down and select buttons on the original remote. I can't seem to get the Harmony remote programmed in a way that recognizes this, so it always fails to set my television to the correct input.
Other Thoughts: I have yet to contact customer service at Logitech to see if there is a way to resolve this issue.

Great remote, but advance setup could be easier.
Pros: It offers extremely flexible configuration, overall good ergonomics, and is a truly "universal" remote. Once everything is configured properly, you really can put your other remotes away, even if you are a power user. It is great for the gadget hound that wants to streamline their home theater and/or make it easier for novice family members to use. And, while retail prices in electronics stores are a bit high, Newegg pricing offers awesome bang-for-the-buck!
Cons: Powering on/off the system feels a little awkward at first since you must wait for the remote to cycle through and power on/configure all the devices for the chosen mode. (It still beats juggling with 3 or 4 remotes, though!) Configuration, particularly when using customized buttons/functions/menus can be a bit difficult at first, even for the gadget obsessed. Some buttons could be a bit bigger and tactile feedback is a little lacking, particularly on smaller buttons.

Dear Lord!
Pros: Without this remote I have to push five different buttons on three different remotes just to watch TV or DVD, with this remote it only takes one button. Once it's programmed it's so simple a child could use it. Recognizes rare audio equipment.
Cons: Took me almost five hours to get all the kinks out with my, somewhat unique (very high end [Outlaw Audio, Dish 921), equipment. No macros.
Other Thoughts: This is my second Harmony remote, I think it's a great invention. Ultimatly there are better remotes but they usually cost several hundred dollars more. The Harmony remotes are simple and unique.

Great remote, small buttons
Pros: Works as advertised and the Harmony database of supported electronics is huge.
Cons: The "Activity" buttons are designed for fingers the size of a 2 year old's. The out of the box software (version 3.x) was b0rked; it launched a browser that took you to some gomer's web page. After getting the latest software from the Logitech site (version 5.x), it worked flawlessly.
Other Thoughts: I don't like that programming the remote *requires* an internet connection. The software should be strictly a client-side app which allows you to download updated hardware lists on demand...

WONDERFUL
Pros: This remote even turned my wife on. I tell it to turn on dvd and it knowes to change my tv input to color stream, and change my onkyo to dvd.If i want to watch dvr it turns on the dish, changes onkyo input and changes tv input. all changes are done with the push of one labeled button. IT IS WORTH THE MONEY!!! If you have any problems call tech support they are GREAT and will make sure your remote is working to your satisfaction.
Cons: buttons are small but my large fingers can do it

If your a techie it's great for the price
Pros: This is a good product and does work as advertised but.... If you are not comfortable on line programming this or not skilled in such things it could be frustrating. It took me several hours to personalize this interface. But for a practical standpoint I had it downloaded and ready to use in 30 mintues. Its very comfortable and for the money I doubt you will get anything better.
Cons: On line programming is less then ideal although if you have moderate computer skills and understanding it is not too difficult to work out and personalize. Do not buy if you have dial up net access. It will take for ever and cable is recommended due to the slowness of the website programming.
Other Thoughts: If Logitech could improve on the website program and speed things up it would be a five star product.

Not as good as advertised
Pros: It works for the most part.
Cons: Pain the rear-end to program!Through the stupid browser-based GUI. There must be another way to program this piece!

Comments: I have one of these remotes for my home theater. It controls all aspects of every component: AVR, projector, DVD player, and DVR.

Great Remote
Comments: Takes a bit of getting use to, but it's a great remote. THe buttons are a bit small for FF and skip for Tivo functions, but overall a great remote. THe internet use makes it a breeze to set up. Support was very good at Logitech when I called.

Wow! As good as advertised.
Comments: I read a positive review about the harmony remote in Maximum PC, and after fielding umteen phone calls at work from the wife about how to turn on the home theater system, I decided this might be a worthwhile investment. Setup takes about 20 to 30 minutes, you answer several questions through web based software, then hit the <font>u</font>pdate remote button, and woot!, you're done! I have a Sanyo projector, Onkyo receiver, Denon DVD player, Pioneer HDTV cable box, and an Xbox. All six other remotes went in the drawer, as the Harmony Remote controls the entire system flawlessly. It is absolutely great. You press ONE button to watch TV, or a DVD, or listen to a CD, or play a video game. And you can switch between them without missing a beat. The only complaint I have is that the setup process could be made a little more user friendly, but it makes adjustments without much difficultly. Highly recommended.

Great remote!
Comments: Bought this remote from Newegg about 4 months ago and love it. It works perfectly and does its job well. I bought a Pronto remote a few years ago and returned it b/c it was way too complicated - it wasn't a 'remote' anymore. Anyways, I highly recommend this remote - the only hesitation I would have if buying it now is to decide between this one or the new model Logitech just announced - the 880.

Best remote ever made
Comments: My best friend has one of these that he mainly got so his wife doesn't have to use 3+ remotes to watch DVDs, etc. I was with him when he programmed it on the website and used it for a while. It is the most amazing remote I have ever seen. Nothing else comes close. You plug the remote into your PC with a supplied USB cable, use a web page to tell it exactly what brand/model/etc of A/V compenents you have, then you tell it things like - what A/V input on your TV do you watch DVDs on, etc. After you are done with all those steps, the software downloads the settings into the remote and you just press one button to do things like - watch a DVD. The remote will turn on your Reciever, TV and DVD player, set the correct settings on the TV and receiver, etc.
The 688 model is mainly for people who have a DVR like Tivo. The other models won't control a DVR, as far as I know.
If you have more than 2 A/V components, I highly recommend it. It is future proof too. They <font>u</font>pdate their website constantly with new components as they come on the market.
