Great Remote, works with Linux
Pros: Well built, extra batteries included, easy to program and extensive database.
Works with Linux!!!!!!!!!!
Cons: Somewhat small volume keys, but nothing to loose a star over
Other Thoughts: Did some research and found this remote was compatible with Congruity which you will need to program if you're running Linux.
Simple, just install Congruity from source forge. Plug in the remote via usb, go to the harmony website and have at it. Works like a champ, I've got it controlling my Plasma, 2 DVD players, Onkyo AV Receiver and XBox 360. Very nice having one remote now ;)
Did I say it works great with Linux!!!!!!!!!!

What Jade Said
Pros: We also have a multi-remote setup and it was driving me crazy to have to get 2 or 3 remotes together to do something. Of course, at least one always seemed to have sprouted little feet and run off to hide. Hubby was unable to do anything except watch TV unless I was home. Of course, he claims that if anything ever happens to me, he will be unable to use anything. After a short" Logitech Harmony School" session, he can now make full use of our system even if I'm not home. I'd been eyeing one of these remotes for a long time, but the price always put me off. Got this one in a Shell Shocker deal for $47. It's an older model, but is exactly what we needed.
Cons: Not a one so far.
Other Thoughts: I had a little trouble setting up one of my older components, but got great and immediate help at the Harmony forums. Their database of recognized components is enormous and even includes my 6 year old RCA DVD/VCR.
Of course, what can you say about ordering it from Neweggone day and receiving it 2 days later. Doesn't get any better than that.

great value
Pros: lightweight, programmable through computer, customizable
Cons: wizard software a little annoying, 5 item limit
Other Thoughts: This is a great remote for the price, even better if you get it on sale! I'd been wanting to replace my multi-remote setup for quite a while because my hubby was always too confused to remember how everything was hooked up, and which remote controlled what. The Harmony 550 fixed that, although it took a little fiddling with the setup software to get it just the way I wanted. After adding your items (you'll need your model numbers), you then select "activities" such as "watch tv" or "watch a dvd" which will string a bunch of actions together automatically for you: so you click one button, and the remote knows to turn on the tv, set it to "video 1", turn on your dvd player and stereo, set the tuner to "dvd", and turn off any other components. If it misses a signal, you click "help" and it resends the command.
It's limited to only 5 items, which would be fine, but if you want one of them to be a Wii so you can have a "play wii" action, it can't turn on your Wii but it still counts as

Worth Every Penny
Pros: Programming on Logitech site is very easy. Control over multiple configurations and their order on screen.
Cons: Minor issue when first purchased. See below
Other Thoughts: My wife thought I was crazy spending close to $100 on a remote. Well, it didn't take long for that to change! Our set up is pretty complex:
Onkyo SR876 (center for) Sony Bravio Scientific Atlantic HD Panasonic Blue Ray XBox 360 WII Sony CD/DVD Carousel Media Center PC with HDMI
So, having a remote that can handle configuring all these activities - in just two button presses - has made switching from say, XBox 360, to HD cable, to Blue Ray Disc, a no brainer.
Also, we've had this for about a year now and had an early problem - stuck button (software stuck, not physically stuck) - and called Logitech support. They were on the line in a very reasonable time and cleared the problem nicely. Hasn't happened since.

Buy it
Pros: Great looking, works with all of my devices, amazingly cool
Cons: The "wizard" interface used when setting the remote up on your pc is a little annoying. Very easy to use, just takes a bit of getting used to for the more advanced functionality to work properly. Program really needs a "copy and paste" for the advanced functions, setting up the "sound" button menu for each activity when they all do the same thing is tedious.
Other Thoughts: Always wondered why anyone would spend this much on a universal remote. Now I know.

Cons: a bit expensive for a "universal remote" DVR list button should be a permanent button, not a "soft" button.

Only remote I need
Pros: It's the only remote I use now.
Cons: The defaults needed some tweaking... Surprise!
If the remote has to go through a lot of steps to turn on an activity, sometimes it will miss one or two. This is fixed by simply hitting help once.
Other Thoughts: I had no problem programming this to control my Xbox 360, 5.1 surround, TV or cable DVR. It may take you a few tries to get all the settings just the way you want but it's worth it. I got my Dad one of these and it works with all of his stuff too.

Outstanding
Pros: This is all you need to control an average household media center. I control an HDTV, Computer, DVR, DVD, A/V Reciever, Lights in the room, and yes a PS3. Set up is easy, easy, easy. And after a couple of weeks. when you wish a button was quickly available a Quick tweek and you can accomplish this also.
Cons: The only gripe I have is the volume and channel buttons are a little small and have no depth. This is a small gripe and for the most part I never have to look the remote is controled by feel.
Other Thoughts: The PS3 is controled only after I bought a NYCO IR converter and remote for $20.00 The only thing it won't do is turn on the unit. If you think about it you need to load a game or a movie anyway, so no big deal. It will however turn it off.

Excellent product when it works; Excellent Service
Pros: The remote is very easy to setup, recognized all the devices I had. You have to install the software, setup how you want to perform different activities and then just connect the remote to your computer with a USB and upload the settings. When you are able to upload the settings then the remote works perfectly. You can name the activities, my wife loves it. If she wants to watch a DVD then all she has to do is press 'watch DVD' and everything turns on and works like magic. It will save you from having to look for myriads of remote.
Cons: I changed the settings and tried to upload the changes to my remote, but it did not upload. It gave me some kind of USB error, I could not fix it with trouble shooting options. So I decided to use my 'Macbook' instead, and I was able to load the settings with the Macbook. The error I encountered seems to be a common one (you can find the error in google) and seems like the solution (for PC) is to call Logitech and speak to a technician. well, I did/do not have time for that. The remote buttons might be small for some people with large fingers. You will always need an internet connection to make changes to your remote settings.
Other Thoughts: Newegg always does a great job with shipping.

Pros: The best remote anyone could ever have! Quick and simple setup. Pop the CD in and install. It will go online to download the latest version. Then you're ready to add devices, then if you want activities. This allows you to setup a sequence of tasks. To watch your cable box, it must turn on your cable box, then your TV, and then if you have a A/V receiver it turns that on. I have 4 activities. Everything is programmable too. The 550 is plenty for the basic user. Granted touch screen is a bell and whistle I can do without, since I just want to turn on my devices with one remote.. and it does that very very well. It nice to press Activity, and select watch DVD, if you have a receiver it will change your input, and turn on the DVD player, TV if its off... Just the coolest remote anyone could own! Recommend if you have a bunch of stuff.
Cons: Yeah, ok...none.
Other Thoughts: My devices it controls.

Great, until it stopped working
Pros: It's very convenient, and controlled everything but my PS3 (though there's an adapter for the PS3 coming soon). I like its motion sensor that makes it light up when it's picked up or moved.
Cons: It's incredibly annoying to configure. The program takes forever to install, is unresponsive and crashes often (at least on the mac). The UI is terrible, and it asks for far too much unnecessary information.
After about a year of use, the display on my remote went dead. The remote still lights up, but no text appears on the display. This pretty much makes the remote useless. I'll be contacting logitech support in a couple days. I'll update this if I remember.

Great perfomance. cheaply assembled
Pros: *easy and comprehensive programming.
*it controls everything device that can be controlled with an IR signal.
*activities work GREAT.
Cons: cheaply made. It feels very flimsy in my hands and it actually creeks and bends when I hit the power button. I have had this remote for about 1.5 years and the volume down button has just stopped sending out a signal. I still get a context click when I hit it but the remote simply does not send the signal associated with the button.
Other Thoughts: This remote is absolutely perfect in every way except for the ergonomics and build quality. It broke on me after a year and a half and I have been gentle with it. I am still going to buy logitech but I think Ill spend a little more this time and hopefully it will be able to withstand normal wear and tear.

Perfect for the job....
Pros: Full back lighting, large device database, relatively easy to program, nice design, feel, weight.
Cons: Volume and channel button placement, number key placement, programming could frustrate the technically challenged, software interface can be quirky when loading & updating the remote.
Other Thoughts: I purchased this remote to use with my Vizio XVT 47 inch HDTV. I had it out of the box & set up in less than an hour, and well tweaked in less than 2. All of my A/V devices were in the Logitech database including a very old Receiver. I only have 4 activities: TV, movies, 360, & music. I had to tweak my power delays to give my tv time to switch inputs, besides that set up was relatively easy. There were also several obscure buttons on the Vizio remote that I had to get the 550 to learn which was also very easy. A very important reason for updating my remote was full back lighting. The tv controls are a little bit hard to get used to & are somewhat small. I remapped some of the DVD/VCR for use while watching tv. Overall, I would recommend this remote. It looks good, works well, & it is nice to push one button instead of hunting 3 remotes.

Love it
Pros: I went through 5 standard universal remotes, and this is the only one that would have all the functions for the TV i have.
Cons: Instead of just hitting the power button to turn the tv on, have to go through the menu. Not really a con though.
Other Thoughts: convenient to have a database of remote configurations. If youre in the same situation and cant find any other remote that works with your tv, check out the logitech website and see if its there.

Works Great
Pros: Works well with all my devices, a little bit of tweaking required for AppleTV, but not bad at all.
Cons: Software could be a bit better
Other Thoughts: Software seems very clunky and hard to navigate. Requires an internet connection and "check for updates" to even load. Not to mention all of your setup "data" seems to be in the cloud, which may or may not be preferable.

Very nice consolidation of remote controls
Pros: -Very easy setup with CD and USB cable -Nice form factor that is easy to hold and balances well in-hand -Activities option eliminates the various switching we had to do between DVDs, video games, and normal TV viewing; it's VERY simple
Cons: -Volume and channel button are a bit low to be perfectly comfortable for us channel flippers -A few control options don't come over, so don't throw away your old remotes no matter how tempting it is -My baby girl thinks it's cool and takes the remote for unknown purposes when we're not looking -Was initially intimidating to my in-laws -Have to be careful if you change the state of equipment without this remote as it assumes the same state as it left the equipment in (e.g., power is still on even if you manually turned something off)
Other Thoughts: Superb option for those of us that have enough AV, entertainment equipment, and gaming systems that switching things to the needed state took time and four remotes.

Love It
Pros: I bought the 550 because i didnt want to spent too much but have the functionality of a Harmony. I never owned one before but when i bought a Sony HT-SS2300, I thought it was time. I have to say I LOVE IT! It took a bit of a learning curve but nothing bad and ultimately it was very easy to figure out. Make sure you get the firmware update, which is easy to do right from the desktop software. That update seemed to fix one nagging issue. All in all, i highly recommend this for budget conscious peopl looking for an excellent remote. I also like the fact that it uses 4 AAA batteries and doesnt need a cradle to recharge. GREAT unit Logitech, kudos!

Won't Install-No Tech Support
Pros: None
Cons: When I tried to install the software it dies! I have tried it on 3 different machines at 2 different locations. I called tech support and the tech didn't know anything and refused to refer me to a higher level person, after a long wait on the phone to get somone. I did some reading in the forum and there was universal agreement that Logitech support is terrible. Also I learned that the software is only a shell and reports to mother on the Logitech site. I think it is likely that my router's firewall is not letting mother in and so the software is so poorly written it just sits and waits for mama.
What a joke! I do not plan to buy another remote from Logitech because its clear they don't care about customers.
Other Thoughts: Why can't they just install the software locally rather than using the remote version that poses security ristks??

Amazing!
Pros: This remote allows you to program different setups and gives you a help menu, on the remote, if anything doesn't work. So far I've had to use the help menu 10+ times and it has been 100% successful!
Cons: You need a USB port and internet connection to program this remote. If you realize how much work it does this is not a Con to many people.

Great Remote
Pros: Easy Setup, Step by Step walkthrough
Cons: Power control issue with slim PS2
Other Thoughts: The remote is great and makes controlling my AV setup a piece of cake. The setup disc is easy for non-tech people, but also goes in depth for those that really want to customize their controls. The remote doesn't seem to want to control the power on my PS2, but the setup disc did tell me that ahead of time. Also, you may need to rearrange your power-on sequence if you have HDCP problems.

Pretty Good so far
Pros: highly programmable with support for tons of devices. 'Activities' are good for turning on several devices and setting them to the correct 'stuff' for some task you are doing.
I only have one remote now!!!!!
Cons: Not always clear when you are in an activity vs having the remote operate on a particular device.
Buttons can be a bit small sometimes.
I agree with another commenter about the software infecting you PC with stuff. Not clear why this thing needs a system tray widget, when programming your remote is something that you do not do very often.
I have at least 2 remotes that have red/yellow/green/blue buttons; the 550 has a A/B buttons. It would be cool if the 550 had these style buttons, and some ability to customize them with macros or the like, in addition to mapping them to a remote's red/green/etc buttons.
Still not idiot proof. My 8 and 10 year old boys have mostly mastered it or at least know how to get the WII and TV going. But it took several brief training sessions. I don't think my Wife 'gets it' yet.
It would be nice if there was s simple-ish small printed manual that goes over the basics of this remote.
Other Thoughts: So far I have a 52" Samsung LCD/TV a FIOS STB; an Onkyo A/V reciever and a philips portable DVD player controlled by this remote.
For the most part, I have complete control over all my devices.

Get one, it'll be worth it
Pros: Simple macro programing. For a family member with too many remotes, absolutely! Now the neighbor's wife wants one for the ease of use, yeah no kidding.
Cons: Not a huge con, but battery life isn't amazing.
Other Thoughts: Would love to see a charge dock and lith battery. The 360 model is great too.

NICE REMOTE!
Pros: Very good setup features. Just hook up the remote to your PC and input your brand/model of the device and you 'should' be ready to go. I also like the setup of the remote itself. NICE LOOKING TO!
Cons: Isn't quite as easy to get everything to work on a 'non-standard' device, but with a little work you will get there!
Other Thoughts: Newegg sent me this as a replacement remote for a HDTV I bought through them that came damaged. THANKS NEWEGG!

Went from 3 to 1 Remote
Pros: Good product overall. Very easy web setup. You need model numbers of TV, DVD, etc handy at setup time. Help button very handy and easy to use in solving problems, which occur regularly. Remote seems to learn as time goes on and the regularity decreases.
Cons: Slow response when turning TV on. Takes a minute or so to adjust volume, change channels, etc.
Other Thoughts: With xmas discount it was $50 and well worth it.

Half n Half
Pros: Looks slick Backlit Every key you could hope for Once it's FULLY setup, it's unbeatable
Cons: It's really a royal pain in the rear to setup. I'm using it (or trying to) with an HTPC, a DVD player, a STB, a music system and 2 TVs. I dread the day I have to add my A/V receiver to the mix.
Other Thoughts: None really. Stay away if you're looking for out-of-the-box happiness.

Works well
Pros: Good price for a "smart" remote. Like the style and design. the usb firmware updates are nice and the logitech software/online tool that helps you set it up seems very well done.
Cons: None so far. Doesn't light up when you get your hand near it as advertised. no big deal Dont like the guide button but no big deal there either.
Other Thoughts: Controls everything i have with a IR receiver. Strongly recommended. controls my directTV, older Panasonic receiver, Westinghouse HDTV which other universal remotes wouldn't control.

Love It
Pros: Controls all my devices. I use to juggle 4 remotes. SUPER easy to set-up, very intuitive, plus it lights up! Software searches web for most current devices, so this remote will never be out-of-date. No more programming codes or doing the whole "learning" operation. The best purchase I've made in a long time.
Cons: Nope.
Other Thoughts: If you use 2 or more remotes on a daily basis, you will love yourself for getting this. Just do it.

Bloated Garbage
Pros: Supposed to support many different devices.
Cons: Not functional unless you infect your PC with bloatware. How often do you update your remote? Every time you boot your PC? Probably not, so why does this garbage run on startup? This last thing I need is buggy Logitech software on my computer. If you pull the startup entry it will re-add it. Uninstall left remnants all over the registry, start menu, program files. Very sloppy.
Other Thoughts: The only reason I gave it one star is because you can't select zero.

Great product and awesome setup
Pros: Controls my RCA TV, my Onkyo surround sound receiver, my Dish Network DVR, and my xBox 360. You can coordinate everything into a couple buttons. For example, if I'm watching TV, and I want to watch a DVD on my xBox 360, I press a button, the receiver will change the input from 1 to 2, turn on the 360, and eject the disc drive. Everything works flawlessly.
Cons: The only con that I find is that while playing my xBox 360, I like to switch back to my satellite to check a football score during the game. But, if I'm playing my 360 and want to switch over, I have yet to find a way to change inputs without turning off the 360. Other than that, this thing is awesome!
Other Thoughts: I would recommend this remote to anyone that has multiple remotes. I have gone from 4 (TV, satellite, sound system, and 360) to 1 remote that not only looks sweet, but does the job.

So Easy its not funny
Pros: This remote and all others in its family are the best thing that con come to a home theater installer! Simple software with the ability to configure advanced features when needed
Cons: The only con about this remote is that it make my HTS so easy to use i can not get my wife to stop using it so that I can watch tv!
Other Thoughts: During professional installs of this remote I sometimes feal bad for my clients! As I know thay could have saved some money if they just tried to configured the system them self! I am never there more than 15 minutes at a time!

Okay, but there are better ones for less $
Pros: Looks nice, backlit screen comes in handy.
Cons: Small buttons, feels kind of cheap, they force you to use bloatware to program.
Other Thoughts: I also own a Universal RF10 and like it a lot more. The Logitech requires you use thier software, which even though I got to work, took much longer than most other remotes to program. Would recommend looking elsewhere for a better build quality, and easier to use.

Remote Control Awesomeness
Pros: Coolness, that in itself is a worthy title for this review. Controls everything I own, including my Xbox 360. I can even use it to play the system. Quick install, backlight glow and comfort
Cons: Wont control the PS3 system I own without a dongle from Madcatz or something. Cant knock it though cuz I have a Bluetooth remote.
Other Thoughts: This thing is super easy to set up. Tell it what you have model number, what you use it for and it does the rest. I LOVE IT!!! Even works on a Vizio which is hard for a Universal Remote

Ptooey!
Pros: Inexpensive, relative to other all-in-one remotes. Great in concept. Has ability to push one button and it turns on everything that needs to come on for that function. For example, if you want to watch TV through the cable box and A/V receiver, the remote is supposed to turn on the TV, set it to the correct input, turn on the receiver, set it to the correct input and output, etc.
Cons: Actually turns everything on and off as programmed 30% of the time. The rest of the time, it turns on some items and not others, without bias - that is, sometimes the TV does not come on and sometimes its the PVR, or something else. When you press the help button (the sole remedy to mis-function), it cycles through all the components that are programmed, not just the ones that are programmed for the specific task that you want done. So if you want the TV on with the receiver and set top box, and the box does not come on, after you press the help button, it asks if the VCR is on.
Other Thoughts: Really small number buttons in a relatively awkward location

Coffee table just grew
Pros: Controls practically anything. Once set up it controls multiple functions or activities with one button push. I will never go back to an ordinary remote again.
Cons: The numeric buttons are a little small, so selecting channels by number is a bit clumsy.
Other Thoughts: What a great invention!

Love almost everything about it
Pros: Very easy to program and I love that you program it with your computer. Nothing more annoying than trying to look up product codes and dance over remote buttons to program them.
Cons: One thing that really annoys me is that you can't customize all the procedures to make the remote more efficient. For example, when I want to watch TV, the remote selects the ANT input then selects channel 3. There's an extra step in there, since my TV never leaves channel 3 and if the remote just typed in channel 3, the tv would automatically adjust to the ANT input.
Basically, what I'm saying, is that the remote could more quickly turn on devices if you could customize exactly how it adjusts each device.
Other Thoughts: It'd easily get five stars if they'd just make it so the user can customize EVERYTHING.

Really Nice Remote-- will do almost anything
Pros: Fairly easy to use Handles multiple devices with 1 touch! Good price Comprehensive remote functions
Cons: Fights some settings, but can get to work about anything Built in motion detector?? Why? Numeric buttons too close. May need to scroll through many menus to find a button.
Other Thoughts: Skeptical that this could handle my kludgie setup, but was able to operate my HDTV converter box and old Mitsu. TV with DVD recorder. Even found my old Kenwood AV receiver! The "watch TV" activity defaults INSISTED I keep the DVD recorder on when watching TV. Nothing I did changed it, so erased default and created a new "activity" for TV and got it to do all functions easily. Great how it synchronizes all functions

Great Remote!
Pros: Setup is relatively painless. Pretty much guaranteed to work with any device(s) you may have. Software is pretty easy to use.
Cons: A little bit of a learning curve if you've never used one before, but certainly not hard to do.
Other Thoughts: Definitely worth the money if you have more than 2 components.

Good remote - good price
Pros: Harmony Remote Central software *overly* user friendly, up and running within an hour, easy online updates, nice bright screen, takes the guesswork and disappointment out of programming universal remotes
Cons: Just mild gripes: No Wii compatibility, pc to remote update takes a little longer than expected, no way (that I've found) to not use the 'fool proof' wizards. In essence, nothing substantial to complain about.
Other Thoughts: I've finally figured out that I should sit with my components and a laptop with the software installed in the same room. Much easier to configure. Entire family is pretty happy with the remote. Every now and then, the surround sound get wacky, so we keep that remote on hand (just in case).

Wonderful Product
Pros: The Logitech device database contains everything I could throw at it, including an obscure joytech A/V switcher and xbox (both 360 and regular). The remote is also individually customizable for each button in each profile.
Cons: The use of "Activities" requires that you not turn the devices on or off with anything other than this remote, since there is no way for it to tell most devices to turn on or off, only to toggle the power state and thus has to maintain the state of all devices.
Other Thoughts: A simple solution if people in your household like to turn devices on and off manually, the simple way to use activities is to turn all the devices off, hit the power button on the remote, and then select your activity.

Harmony 550 Remote ROCKS!!!
Pros: Huge database (odds are, your device remote is in there), plenty of true buttons, 4 pageable LCD screen buttons with paging, good ergonomics, controls up to 12 devices, learning modes for custom button features, great range for the IR with wide angle of transmission, compact and light weight
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I have the Harmony 510. I outgrew it due to the addition of a remote controlled video/audio source switch box. The switch box was not in the database. No problem, just picked an appliance that was similar, learned the functions from old remote (1,2,3, and power). All of my other devices were already programmed from my 510 online. Just replaced remote and only had to add switch settings to the existing activities (activities are macros that put all of your devices in the right mode, as well as customize what devices are controlled with what buttons, like volume up/down for receiver, channel up/down for cable box, etc...) If you can't get this thing to control your devices and program activities to make your controls comfortable and logical, you have something alien and not of this earth!!!

cool remote
Pros: blue backlight, automatic type control of all your appliances (one button turns on all the equipment and settings are changed to configure them for a function... like watch a DVD or TV), motion detecting switch that turns on the backlight (move the remote or bump it and the light turns on) works well. It doesn't turn on very much or too much.
Cons: Some of the Comcast remote's functions were lost, but it may be because I had to guess which Comcast box I have. Its not free.
Other Thoughts: I'm biased since my money went to make or distribute the darn thing, but I'm trying to tell you the facts. So don't just look at my review title or the pros/cons. Basically, the remote does do the jobs of our three other remotes. The thing I think was the most negative about it is the price, but when I bought it, it was part of a combo deal with a TV. It is a good remote, a little pricy on its own but it is doing the job I want it to.

good and cheap
Pros: I like the grip under this remote, does not slip easily but the top is shiny and makes it difficult to keep in your hand. Upgrade the software and firmware on this remote before customizing it.
Cons: Logitech only allows one account per device ? Whats up with that ? So if i have 4 remotes I need 4 different emails to register....just plain stupid on their behalf. The circle that contains up and down, left and right is pressed with a click sound...very annoying.
Other Thoughts: Newegg has great customer service.

Remote Freezes
Pros: Replaced all my remotes with this one. Setup was a breeze. All of the functions of all of my devices are on this remote. Learns commands very easly.
Cons: Battery Life about 8 weeks. The only problem I had was after about 3 months the remote froze and could not do any thing with it. Contaced Logitech Technicale support. Within hours the e-mail me back. Said it was proably a stuck button. The also gave me step by step instructions on updating the firmware in safe mode and then update the remote. I did and it worked as I have not had any more problems in a month.
Other Thoughts: If remote should freeze try pressing all the buttons to see if one stuck. If this doesn't work contact techinacle support to get the instructions to update the firmware in safe mode.

Fantastic
Pros: Setup was a snap. The software walks you through each step and if a device does not turn on the remote fixes the problem with ease. Every function works and compaired to some remotes I have used, the button placement seems well thought out.
Cons: I did not puchase two at the fantastic Newegg price
Other Thoughts: If you are in doubt that your device will work with the remote use the link to the manufacturers web site and check to be sure. The database includes 5,000 manufacturers and 175,000 IR devices. My TV was there and my digital box remote would not recognize it. As always Newegg shines with great prices and fast shipping.

Great Remte
Pros: Easy to Setup Great Device Selection great versatility in setting up different activities (used to be called macros on older universal remotes) computer/internet via USB cable setup makes programming this remote very easy. The automatic light up when it detects motion is a great feature and the activities function are great, press 2 buttons and it configures the remote turns on all of the devicesand puts them on the right channels/inputs and assigns the right control features to the correct devices. I would only replace this remote with another Harmony if the need ever arised to upgrade from this one
Cons: The buttons are a little small but I have been using mine for over a year so I pretty much have the layout memorized. If you use it a lot the batteries do get changed more often then most other remotes in my opinion this is a negligible con considering what this remote s capable of
Other Thoughts: I have read the other comments especially the negative ones, which are what caught my interest. Cant say I agree with them about logitech quality I have had a great many logitech devices from mice and joysticks to my latest logitech device which is the Harmony and I have owned this remote for over a year. Even with a teenage boy using it and I have had no problems with the harmony or any other logitech products. As far as logitech customer service I can't comment as I have never had to call them

My mom can use it
Pros: Amazingly easy to configure! All computer based via USB cable. From 3 remotes down to only one. The simple use of it is amazing. Now my mom is comfortable in playing a DVD all by herself without asking "How does this work?" Thank you Logitech! Now I want one. This remote features all flash-based memory. So if you have to take the batteries out to change them, it won't forget ANYTHING!
Cons: The price was a little steep when I got it last year for my parents Christmas present. Only had to pull the batteries out once.
Other Thoughts: GET ONE. The color ones may be easier to read the screen, but for the dollar, this is the best deal around.

Nice remote
Pros: This is a beautiful looking remote fits perfect into my hand. Awesome programming software, easy to program my equipment. Capable of controlling any product that has remote. Cool blue light and easy to read lcd.
Cons: Cant get it to sync with my 32" Sceptre hd lcd. Not the remotes problem but mine if i tried to adjust the timing between the dvr and t.v.
Other Thoughts: Its a real nice remote, will work better when I get a quality t.v. with a easy menu interface

Your patience will be rewarded!
Pros: As was expected, Newegg's fulfillment was perfect.
I did some reading up at Logitech's forum, before jumping in. For us HARMONY noobs, there is a lot of important "pre-purchase" info there that will help you make an informed decision. My time researching suggested that I would have a generally easy time with the remote's setup, but that there might be some frustration, here and there. OK, I can handle it!
Pick up the latest software from the Logitech site, rather than using the CD to set up. The 550 has no outstanding issues with the current version...unlike some small glitches with the 600, One, and 1000 series.
I have to give Logitech's live tech support some props. The time I spent with one of their techs was fantastic. Not only did he know the product, he went to great lengths to make sure that I learned how to troubleshoot the tweaking process in the future. I came away with a fully functional remote that was configured precisely to 5 devices.
Cons: The most useful troubleshooting and programming resource is the official FAQ, which is viewable only from the Harmony set-up program. There is no easy way to get a paper copy. The FAQ has the nitty-gritty details, whereas the printable manual merely glosses over the 550's features. I ended up creating a PDF that I made available through the Logitech Harmony forum. Much better!
Other Thoughts: For those of you that have tech-challenged spouses... The Harmony remotes can seem a bit intimidating. However, after only a couple of days of use, the onboard "Help" button is now seeing very little action. We're down to one remote...and we're LOVIN' IT!

Small buttons.
Pros: Works like a remote should. The Activities and Off buttons are great and all other buttons work for my devices. The Harmony software let me easily change my remote from a Harmony 876 to the Harmony 550 without having to readd all my devices.
Cons: I previously had a Harmony 876 remote for about 3 years. The most-used buttons started sticking so I bought a Harmony 550 to replace it. The buttons on the 876 were bigger and easier to press.
Other Thoughts: I'm glad to have Harmony in my life. Harmony remote that is. I wish I could design my own Harmony remote. The button layout would be perfect, for me. As ususal, NewEgg pricing and shipping are the best.

Simple to Setup, Lots of Options
Pros: Incredibly easy to setup. The bundled software removes all of the normal rigor of learning other remotes, programming individual buttons by pressing 20-key sequences, etc. Activities make it really easy to switch from playing video games to watching DVDs to watching TV. Took me literally 15 minutes to get my system setup.
Cons: No ability to globally map keys. I wanted to, for example, setup the ability to change the sound setting and I had to set it up for each of the activities. This is not a huge deal, but it would be nice to be able to set defaults if certain functions are not overridden by activity.
Other Thoughts: As always, lightning fast delivery. Ordered Monday, selecting 3-day Ground at about 2:30 pm, showed up at my door Tuesday at 2pm.

Great Remote!
Pros: * Huge product database * Reconfigurable in every way imaginable * The LCD provides a fool-proof way to see what you're doing * It controls my Air Conditioner (window unit) and Roomba! * Very slim and comfortable to hold * It *learns* IR signals. Ex: My A/C unit was supported by default, but it did not have the 'on/off' signal. I 'taught' it the signal from my existing remote (very simple). The remote was even smart enough to bind the new signal to a "power toggle" command. Problem solved. * The configuration wizard, unlike what I expected, was very intuitive. * You can set up more advanced settings, like time delays between signals etc.
Cons: * You have to connect it to your computer, with internet access, to program it * Most likely a lot of the default configuration parameters are not exactly the way you'd want them to be. So you'll spend some time getting everything just the way you want it (titles of devices and commands, hot keys, etc.). Not a big deal at all - just takes some time to get going. And, as per my first point, each change requires you to go back to the computer, hook it in, and reconfigure.
Other Thoughts: This is an all around excellent remote. The fact that it can learn IR commands makes this the best remote I've ever owned. Plus, the fact that it came as a combo deal with my new Toshiba TV made it a deal breaker :)
I have never had a remote that was 'activity' based. The configuration wizard asks questions like 'what device do you watch TV on? what device do you control volume on? What input does the audio device need to be on? What input setting does the TV need to be on? Which device do you change channels on?'. Then on the remote, you hit 'Watch TV' - the remote turns the TV, Cable Box, and Receiver on, sets inputs appropriately, etc. When you hit channel up, the channel changes, and volume changes the receiver. Very nice!

Harmonious!
Pros: Controls anything infrared! I have it controlling all my home theater stuff, the rest of the TV's in the house, fans, air conditioners, everything that's remote controllable.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: This takes some time to set up and get working perfectly, but the effort is well worth it. My dog chewed mine up when he was a pup and it still works great even tho it looks well.. chewed up. I love it so much I'm going to get a Harmony 880 next.

Great all in one
Pros: I was able to consolidate 5 remotes in just one! Set up was a breeze just pop in the disc and connect the remote to your PC via usb. The unit is lightweight and comparable in size to standard factory remotes (It is actually a bit smaller than most of my remotes, which is a + for me). The backlight is a nice feature with easy activation. Overall this is a great remote that will control all your devices.
Cons: The buttons on the numeric pad section are a bit small but then again I have large fingers.
Other Thoughts: My wife hated needing 3 remotes to control the TV, DVD & Cable box. After receiving the Harmony 550 I gave her a quick tutorial on how to use the thing. She is now a pro and loves only needing one remote! Newegg rocks!!!!!!!! a day early on delivery!

Great Remote!
Pros: This is one of the best remotes I've ever had. Bought one for me, then one for my mother and she loves it as well. Pro's... Operates every device I own... and at least one TV that wouldn't work with other all-in-ones. Feels good in the hand and the buttons are easy to reach and it the right places. I love being able to customize all the buttons and especially the LCD screen.
Cons: Setup can be a little confusing if you don't pay attention, but I don't mind that sort of thing... I'll probably be customizing this thing for weeks until I get it just the way I want it.
Other Thoughts: Did I say that I LOVE THIS REMOTE?!!!

Buy This NOW
Pros: I wasn't sure what to expect, but after the software install I plugged this in via USB, and it just did it's thing with firmware updates. While it was doing that, I went and retrieved the exact model numbers for my components and input them on the computer in my web browser. The components are stored under a profile you create at Logitech's site. From there, the remote makes some "guesses" as to how you will use your components. You can tweak the choices as you go to make sure it does what you want.
Cons: It took a whole 15 minutes to set up! Oh wait, that's not a con, never mind. I did actually have to "train" the remote for one device (my Dish DVR625), but it now works flawlessly. BTW--that training was included in the 15 minutes.
Other Thoughts: The end result is this: I push one button that says "Play DVD", and my TV comes on, it switches to the correct video input, my HT Receiver comes on, and switches to the correct audio input. My DVD player comes on and if I want, it will "press play". All that from ONE button!

Awesome Remote
Pros: Controls everything. Has all of the options for my HD DVR cable box (thanks to being able to define custom buttons as well as the standard ones). Power button turns everything off with one press. Setting up the Activities is relatively simple and easy to follow.
Cons: Kind of lame to have to setup a Logitech account just to configure the remote - but I believe it's saving the remote settings online.
Other Thoughts: I wasn't sure about this when I got it, but just having it over 1 day, I'm very impressed. It will even control video games if they have IR (PS2 and a few others I believe). So far so good. Even at the $80, I'd say it's worth it. I was able to use a promo code and got a good deal, but now that I have it, I would still pay the full price.

Nice remote
Pros: Was very easy to set up. The software is easy to install and instructions are clear and simple. I love the fact that I can touch one button and it turns on our tv and mini-system, then with another touch switches the tv and receiver over to DVD mode. I look forward to adding more "activities", as it calls them, to the remote.
Cons: I was actually looking forward to the reported feature that it lights up when you walk by it/pick it up after a stretch of inactivity...mine unfortunately does not seem to do that :(
Other Thoughts: Probably one of the best universal remotes out there for the price

Software install fails
Pros: Once it was programmed successfully, worked ok.
Cons: Tried to install the software from the CD on 4 different Windows XP systems and it hung on all of them after asking for the language and saying that it was installing. Couldn't shut down Windows without killing install process from the task manager. No obvious prompts on the screen.
Was able to install it on Vista system with no problem. Copied code over from Vista system to XP system and was able to run on XP.
Initial setup for DishDVR-150 resulted in no functions for most buttons. Second setup worked. Still don't have "DVR' button from remote working.

Could be Better
Pros: Great remote, simple software set-up. I read a few reviews where people complained about this product not working with devices correctly, they are fools because if you own the original remote you can use the Learn feature and program this thing to do just about anything. I have an iPXXd dock that wasn't listed, using it's remote I programmed this one.
Cons: The requirements on Newegg don't list Internet Connectivity as a must. The software IS user friendly, but lame because it is 95% web based, you can't even change the back light timer without and internet connection. I live on an Island in Vermont with limited internet options (wifi across 3 miles of water or dial-up) so for many this may not be an issue.
Other Thoughts: I have also run into the back light turning on randomly, I don't care because I use re-chargeable batteries. Over all this remote is absolutely awesome and it makes life with a 7 component AV set-up heaven. I would have bought one of touch screen models but I can't justify spending that much $$$ on a uni-remote. This one is affordable and it does it all!

Excellent Remote - Extremely Flexible
Pros: This is a great remote with tons of options. You can fine tune just about every aspect of the remote and how it should operate with your specific set up.
Cons: Some technical competance is required. The level of flexibility and fine tuning mean that you have to use your brain to get what you want.
Other Thoughts: Give the millions of potential set ups in the world, this remote allows tremendous flexibility. It is IR and not Bluetooth, so it will only control IR items out of the Box.
Most of the negative reviews stem from the incredible amount of flexability you have in fine tuning this remote. If it doesn't do what you want by default, you have the ability to make changes. Takes some time and effort, but once you have it set the way you like, it is a dream.

Nice...
Pros: Nice to finally have all components on one remote. Backlight is nice for dark settings. Easy to use controls if something fails to launch/start/etc properly. Easy setup...USB to PC, type in components...presto. Walk by it and it fires up...motion sensor detects you approaching (kinda creepy but way cool).
Cons: As others have stated, kinda long. A little annoying to jump to another component for special inputs, e.g. to the cable box to go up/down days while setting up DVR recordings.
Other Thoughts: Nice remote. I've had it for about 6 months, haven't replaced the batteries yet and it works like a champ. I'd recomment this. I give it 4 stars because I feel the layout could be more user friendly.

Truly replaced all IR remotes
Pros: It works as advertised, doesn't lose settings, sets up basic macro steps for you.
Cons: No bluetooth for PS3 support, but you can't have everything. I found this remote later for $50 at another online retailer so bought a second one there. Have to create a log in to customize your remote and can't have multiple remotes with the same account.
Other Thoughts: I was getting really tired of using four remotes to control my TV, AV system, DirecTV box and PS3. With this remote, you simply plug it into a free USB port, log in and tell the application which equipment you are using, and what settings you need to make it all work, and it does exactly just that. I did have to do a little custom configuring with my Pioneer 5.1 system, but other than that it works perfectly.

WOW
Pros: This remote is awesome, solved every single one of my problems. I live it. A+++
Cons: It randomly glows as I walk by, kind of creepy, but in another way useful.
Other Thoughts: BUY IT. As usual, Newegg rocks.

Great product
Pros: Easy to set up and use, lets you put away all of your other remotes. It even worked with my 10 year old stereo receiver.
Cons: The back lit screen is not bright enough and you can not adjust the brightness at all.
The set up was good, but its not really all that clear.
Other Thoughts: Take your time to carefully read what is on the screen before taking any action.

Nice when it works
Pros: When it works, it is very very nice. It looks sleek and cool. It controls the correct piece of equipement depending on which button you hit. meaning if you hit volume up, it will crank up the receiver, not the TV if you set it up that way. Very smart.
Cons: Sometimes it just doesn't work. It won't respond to ANY button pushes. I can even pop out the batteries and put them back in, OR put new ones in and it will boot up and just sit there frozen. Then randomly it will work again within 24 hours...
Other Thoughts: You have to make an account to set up the remote at Logitech.

Great Product
Pros: Great remote. I replaced 6 remotes with this. Works great with my Xbox 360. Setup took a few minutes of looking up my product model numbers, but that's not a big deal. Very intuitive interface. I just handed it to my wife with no instructions and she was using it fine in a few minutes.
Cons: None that I can think of.

Works Great -Controls anything with a IR remote
Pros: I set it up to control anything that could be controled with an IR remote, TV, VCR, DVD, Cable BOX, Kodak Picture Frame, Air Contitioner, Fan & MCE PC. Set up is pretty easy. Saveing all your setting online is nice, impossible to loose the code and pretty easy to make changes.
Cons: Take a minute or two download updates to remote. Had a little difficulty getting it to work with my fan but after a couple of tries it works perfectly, i think it had to do with the timing. Some of the buttons you need to push a little harder then i would like, and some just don't have a high quality feel, but its minimal downside for the price and convienence.
Other Thoughts: Hands down beats having a half dozen remotes sitting out. Having the original remote from a device make setup much easier as you can go through all the buttons you need and group then in a way that you like. As soon as I get a place than needs another remote i will be buying a second or third

Great remote, Great company
Pros: You can control everything, I MEAN EVERYTHING, with this one remote. It's activity control allows you to control multiple devices as part of one activity.
EX: Control both your TV and your cable box with one activity. Allowing you to change channels on your cable box, while adjusting the volume on your actual TV.
Excellent, again excellent, online support and overall product support.
First online support: if you don't know by now that's why you buy a harmony remote. By connecting your remote to your PC and connecting to the internet your able to acquire controls to virtually ever remote.
Second Logitech is probably one of the best companies I ever dealt with in terms of product support. I called them up and got through to a live person in about 1 min. 30 sec. My problem was resolved in no time.
BUY IT!!
Cons: I obviously got a bad 550, because after about 1 month the screen went nuts! First it went completely blank, then after fooling around with it for a while it began to work again but was frozen on one frame.
I believe this is because the package has a "Try Me" feature where a person can play around with the screen in the store. This is bound to where out the screen. So careful where you buy it.
You might ask why even though this happened I still give 5 eggs to this product. It's because after I called Logitech and informed them of the problem, I had a BRAND NEW (not refurbished) 550 remote on my doorstep just 4 days later! That's good service.
Other Thoughts: Overall you can't beat this remote. It's a great product, from a great company.

Fantastic Remote
Pros: EASY SETUP; From opening the package to watch TV took 30 minutes. Setup DVD-VCR combo, TV & Home Theater. Easy to learn commands. Easy to trouble shoot with Help on remote. So simple to operate my 4 yr old grandson can. Turns right device on or off and sets inputs all with one button. No more calls at work from wife trying to figure out remote.
Cons: Buttons are a little small if you have long fingernails. Can't get it away from wife.
Other Thoughts: All my devices were in database. Only had to learn 1 command, Eject DVD. After original setup added SanDisk Docking Station for my Sansa MP3 player. Device was in Database and had no problems adding then updated remote. Activity setup Watch TV, Watch DVD, Play VCR, Play CD, Listen to Radio, & Play MP3. I have spent hours trying to setup several differnt Universal remotes and still could not get all the features to work. This was so simple to setup (30 min) and ALL the features of everything work.

Best Remote Ever
Pros: User friendly (if you are somewhat technologically inclined), Beautiful design, Excellent incorporation of 4 button menu system, controls so many infrared devices, learns new commands easily with the software
Cons: The only con is that setup takes a little time with the software and you have to have a little computer sense to set it up the way you want to.
Other Thoughts: Get this remote, it is AWESOME. I rarely write reviews but this remote definitely deserves praise. Well designed and well worth the price. Ignore the negatives. NEWEGG IS THE BEST!!!! one day shipping with regular shipping

Wow!
Pros: This thing is great. The software was intuitive and navigable. I set this up to combine my dvr, audio, dvd, hdtv and xbox360. This remote will, after you work out the bugs, turn on all the components you list in a function and set them to thier proper settings. Furthermore, you will be able to turn up the volume on your audio components, and change the channel on your tv, and pause your dvr all without changing anything. If you have an issue, the help button really does help! It will detect an incorrect setting, and correct it...then ask you if the problem is fixed. great lcd readout.
Cons: Does not do some of the higher dvr functions. Will not work with PS3, but that is a bluetopoth device, and you can't blame the remote for that.
Other Thoughts: I bought one with the rebate, and liked it so much I got a second for mom after the rebate expired. A local shopping club just got the higher up model, and is selling that one cheaper than I got this one. Oh well I still love the product, and Mom, who had to ask Pops to change the settings everytime she went from cable to watch a dvd, is now fully independent and empowered! Thanks logitech!

Not good
Pros: Its a universal remote that supports a LOT of brands.
Cons: The first universal remote I owned was an RCA that only controlled 3 things and it was way better than this Harmony. The Harmony is garbage. The blue backlight randomly goes on for no reason which drains the battery. You have to buy seperate attachments for the XBox and PS3 if you want the remote to turn on your game system. When I use the sleep feature on my tv through the remote, I cant turn on my tv after it shuts it down. I have to press the remotes power button then I am able to select 'watch tv' to turn it on. My air conditioner uses a IR remote and it doesnt operate it properly. Pressing a button sends the signal to my AC 4 times. So raising/lowering the temp is in increments of 4 and powering on/off the AC makes it turn on/off 4 times before it operates or shuts down. Pressing 'watch a dvd' sets everything up correctly, but if I need to operate specific features of the dvd and select dvd on the remote, I can no longer control the volume on my tv.
Other Thoughts: I got this remote because I have been curious about it for a long time and liked the idea of doing away with my 6 remotes. Then I found it on sale at newegg with a pretty decent mail in rebate. At any price this remote is not worth the money. I was telling my friends about the remote before I got it telling them all the things that it could control and when they came over to check it out I felt like such an idiot. I had been suckered by Logitech by thinking it would properly control everything. Yes, this remote controls LOTS of things, but it doesnt control them properly. I would have sent this back to get my money back, but after the cost to ship it plus the hassle of waiting on line at my local post office, plus the restocking fee just isnt worth my extra time and money. I'll keep messing with it to see if it gets any better at controlling things. For now -- its garbage.

Another Winner From Logitech
Pros: Logitech Harmony remotes are the best. I have two 670's one for normal use and one as a backup and now a 550 for the other side of the house. They're amaazing. And of course Newegg rocks.
Cons: Oddly the first unit had one defective button, top right next to the LCD. Wierd. Could not program.
Other Thoughts: Contacted Newegg for a replacement, RMA process smooth as always. The new unit works perfectly.
Highly Recommended!!

Works well, SW needs work
Pros: Once configured, the remote works very well, and it is quite flexible.
Cons: As noted numerous other places, the host software definitely needs work. If what you want to do matches what the guided system sets up, then it is trivial. If not, then the menus are not very intuitive. The thing that got me most confused was that the buttons can be programmed "per device" or "per activity". If something is wrong, there is no feedback (e.g., what devices received what commands), so debugging is quite difficult.
Other Thoughts: The remote's "help" works surprisingly well, and once I got the device setup, the entire family can work it with ease.

An 'okay' solution
Pros: Looks good, buttons are tactile and feel good, the screen is easy to read in the dark. Set up was easy. I now have 1 remote that does everything for me.
Cons: This isn't so much the remote's fault as much as my TV's, but if I am watching a DVD and decide that I want to watch TV through my Sat. Receiver the TV would power off. So I had to set my TV to 'Stay on all the time' which means that I have to turn it off through a couple of button presses... not a huge deal as I'm still using 1 remote, but it's not a 'one button solution' since I can't go from shut down to watching TV with 1 push of the button (it takes 3 - Device - TV - Power).
Other Thoughts: A lot of people will complain about the remote not doing what they thought it would. If you take the time to set your activities correctly, it will work fine. You may have to work around some issue if your TV is like mine, but even then... you're still down to 1 remote.
Is it worth $90? I don't know... I probably wouldn't do it again, I think there are cheaper solutions that do the same things.
However, the remote is better than average, but less than excellent so it gets a 4.... I'd probably go 5 if I had a true 1 button solution.

A Great Remote
Pros: This remote works really well with all my components. Easy set up with software. Screen is very bright and easy to read in a dark room.
Cons: I would like to be able to rename the "Generic Activity" to whatever I want. For instance I have my computer hooked up to my tv and when I press "Activities" I would like it to say media center.
Other Thoughts: My wife is technically savy and works in the IT field. Yet she has a hard time using this remote, and now refuses to use it at all. My step daughter also has a hard time with it. For some reason this remote doesn't translate to the fairer species.

I love this thing!
Pros: For me, this does exactly what it is supposed to. I plugged it into my mac, it automatically performed a flash update to itself, all my components were in the database, and it worked right after initial load. I didn't have to do any fine tuning. For the price, I think this is great - best universal I've ever used. I have no idea what the $300 model could do better. This may be the base model, but it does every single thing I need it to do - and does it well. And, it has a longer range than the original remotes.
Cons: Absolutely none. I had to learn that you cant just push the on button - you have to hold it for a bit for all components to come on properly, but not a con - just my learning curve.
Other Thoughts: I would definitely buy this again and recommend it to everyone I know.

Quirky...but works
Pros: Huge database of components it supports; does what it's adverstised to do.
Cons: Does not support Linux (need Windows or Mac to configure it); needs lots of tinkering to get certain components to behave "just right". Pretty expensive for being a base model of remote.

Great Remote
Pros: I got this remote today, set it up in less than 20 minutes and right now I love it. The five originals are in a drawer. Hooked it up to the Internet and entered my equipment mfg and model numbers. Then put four “activities” together. Like “Watch DVD”, “Watch TV”, “Watch DVD2” and “Listen to CD”. When I press the “Watch DVD” button, it turns the TV on, switches its source to HDMI2, turns the HD-DVD player on, turns the Denon amp on and switches it to TV/DVD. Change my mind and decide to watch cable, press “Watch TV” and it turns off the Denon, turns off the DVD player, switches the TV to HDMI1, turns on the cable box and away I go. Very cool. With the old remotes, I had to point them at the device to get a response, this one works sitting on my desk. It’s got a real nice feel to it too.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: The type could be a little larger and it could be easier to control individual components. The on/off selection for my Amp are on page 8 or 9, you would think they would be on page 1.

Logitech Remote
Pros: Remote works great. Does everything that you expect from it. Setup is really easy, software will guide you through whole process of setup. After you will add all your device remote will find all activities that can be perform by them. After setup, on button does it all. Switch from DVD to PC Presentation to Cable without using 4 remotes. JUST ONE BUTTON.
Cons: Need of computer for setup.

Great Addition to My Living Room!!
Pros: As others have said, setup is pretty easy. You tell the software what devices you want to control and it does a great job of giving you a starting point to work from. Based on the type of products you tell it you own, it will automatically bunch commonly used configurations for you to start with. For example, you tell it you have a DVD player, a TV, a surround sound system and a cable box and it will automatically give you 3 groups: Watch DVD: Turn on DVD, TV & Surround. Watch PVR: Turn on TV & Cable Box (you can also tell it to never turn off the cable box so you don't miss your scheduled PVR recordings) Listen To CDs: Turn on Surround & DVD. I gave mine another Activity after playing with it for a while and it was easy. I wanted to be able to watch TV with surround or without, so I made a "Watch TV" command that powers on the TV, cable box and surround. This way if you're watching the news you don't have the surround on, but if it's football or a movie on HBO it will be on.
Cons: Hmm... it was pretty simple... it feels like it's missing some complicated function that I'll want somday but I can't think of what I would possibly throw at it that it couldn't handle. Is that a con? The only trouble I had during setup was that my DVD player wouldn't respond at all to the remote after setup. That was easily fixed too! The rear end of the remote has an IR reciever that allows you to use your old remote to train the Harmony how your device works. You simply point the old remote at the harmony, follow the directions for which buttons to press and BAM! Done! Once I did that it was perfect!
Other Thoughts: Oooo!! I've saved the best for last!! You know the usual plastic packaging that stuff like this comes in? You know... You fight it with a hacksaw, blowtorch and curse words for what seems like forever and once you have it opened you spend the next week in the ER while they bandage your bleeding appendages? This package WAS A JOY TO OPEN!!!! 10 Eggs for the package alone!! You simply bend a corner and the PERFORATED SEAM easily comes apart! BRILLIANT! This one factor probably shortened the setup time by at least a full day! It was so enjoyable that I wish I had bought two of them JUST so I could experience it one more time... BUY PEOPLE, BUY!

550 > 520
Pros: Outstanding backlighting; great design; much more sturdy then the 520; easy to program via USB.
Cons: Having to setup timings for certain "Activities" can be slightly annoying.
Other Thoughts: I owned a Harmony 520 for well over a year, and finally upgraded to the 550. I loved the 520, and the 550 is even better. I'll be a Logitech customer for life because of this remote.

Live in Harmony with this remote
Pros: Ignore the naysayers!! In addition to everyone else's pros listed, this remote also has an excellent range of control. You don't have to point the remote at your devices while it cycles thru the macros. You can hold it at a 90 degree angle and it will still control your devices. If you look into the red infrared cover you will see 2 transmitters at 45 degree angles to each other which is why you don't have to point it directly at your devices. Also, my 550 remote does not wake up by simply walking by it or picking it up as others have stated. It only does so when a button is pressed. I also use this one remote for every TV and stereo system in my house. It has replaced 10 remotes!
Cons: It takes a while to setup even for a highly technical person but once it's done, you will be very happy.
Other Thoughts: Despite what others say about the slow response times, it only applies to the macros and not the actual channel or volume changing or any other button for that matter. Besides you can change the macro speeds in the remote setup software. By default, it's set to a very slow time. The response times sometimes need to be slowed down. An example is my TV. It needs a couple of seconds to warm up before you can change the input on it.

Absolutely flawless
Pros: I don’t usually get enthusiast over tech items but this remote is one of the few perfect pieces of equipment I’ve purchased. The setup is simple enough so people that watch Big Brother or anything on MTV can probably figure it out. It walks you through setting up your devices and if it doesn’t work then you can go back and tweak the settings. It worked for my Panasonic 42 inch plasma TV, my Scientific Atlanta 3100HD cable box and my Harmon Kardon AV receiver. It even had codes for my Zalman HD160XT homebuilt media center PC. The remote itself is good looking and when you see you’ll think it’s expensive. I wasn’t sure I wanted to pay almost one hundred dollars for a remote but it was well worth the money. I’m going to buy a second one for the TV in the bedroom.
Cons: Until you're familiar with the software it can be counter intuitive. But once you understand it then it's easy. The remote tends to pick up fingerprints and navigating the small LCD screen can be laborious. I have a feeling this remote will go through batteries like crazy. It uses 4 AAA batteries and there are 4 in the remote when you get it and a package of 4 more included so at least that won't be a problem for a while.
Other Thoughts: The only thing I can think of that would make this better is individual buttons for the various devices right on the remote so you could deal with them quickly instead of having to go through the LCD screen & buttons.

Good Remote but...
Pros: Feels like it is made of some higher quality materials. Also, it has a decent lcd interface. Can also act a Xbox360 remote which is kinda cool.
Cons: After receiving this I feel as though I wasted some money.
Other Thoughts: Even though the LCD is nice my particular tv has 10+ menus to go throught to just change the PIP channel. Also, I already many of the same brands of equpment anyways so one remote already controls everything anyways. Make sure you really need a remote like this before spending this kind of money
