The best there is
Pros: If you have a 1080p this is the only way to go unless you are ready to make the gamble to blu ray or hd dvd. But even then the picture quality is right there with thoses players. It includes an HDMI so that saves you 40 bucks also. Every thing about it is top notch!
Cons: The few complaints I have heard from people that are legit are really picky. Yes I guess it does have a little longer load time than a standard player...but I would have never even noticed had it been brought up. And as far as the optical cable coming unhooked eaisly...hasnt happend to me so maybe that is more in the cable than the player.
Other Thoughts: Before I bought this player I asked alot of question about up progressing DVD players at a couple of the big box stores, mostly about the fact that you see alot of reviews saying that they could tell no difference and had returned the product. Every salesman I talked to said the same thing...that they did get alot of returns on up progression DVD players, and in talking to the people that return them it is almost always beacuse the person didnt go in and select the proper setting, or that the person had used regular RCA cables, or componet cables to hook them up (this one comes with HDMI so that should solve that. But one thing I have really learned after getting involved in high end products is how important cables and set up are to the quality!

A Lot of junk from Samsung
Pros: Nice blue light.
Cons: Has not worked corectly since I hooked it up. Went back once for warranty repair and is going back again. HDMI cable that came with it died. Also own a Samsung DVD VR345 recorder that ups to 1080i and it outperforms this unit. Samsung should recall these.
Other Thoughts: Made the mistake of buying when first released should have waited for others reviews. There seems to be some good dvd-hd960's out there I just didn't get one!

Good substitute until the format war is over
Pros: -Upconversion to 1080p -HDMI cable included
Cons: -Load time is a bit slow -Optical cable does not secure well
Other Thoughts: This is a great player if you're looking for something in between until a new standard is decided upon. Picture quality is great, the colors are vivid and images are crisp at 1080p. Menus and remote is easy to use and the instant replay/skip buttons are a nice touch. The load time is a bit slow but I expect this coming from an upconvert player. I recommend using a digi coax as the optical output isn't very secure and the cable can be unplugged very easily. If you're receiver is capable of PCM upsampling be sure to toggle the option in the player's menu for the best possible sound.
Review is based on using a Samsung DLP.

Great picture but had to send back after 2 weeks
Pros: Great picture. I still left my other DVD player hooked up and compared them side by side on my 55" LCD and this unit blew my sony dvd player away.
Cons: After working wonderfully for the firts 2 weeks, every movie starting stuttering, pausing, skipping, and the video would pixelate. Had to send back and am currently waiting for replacement unit.
Other Thoughts: UPS charged me $xx for 3 day ground shipping for my return. I called Newegg to complain and they had me email a copy of the receipt and I was quickly credited the shipping back.

Pros: Great DVD Player. Very Sharp Image quality. Be sure to enable 1080p in the set up menu and turn progressive scan off if you're using the HDMI cable and on if your using the Components. Looks great on Samsung DLP Tv's. Handles my Dual Layer copies perfectly.
Cons: none so far. It looks every bit as good as my friend's PS3 with blue ray discs.
Other Thoughts: I was a bit nervous about this player after reading some of the other reviews, but I have to say that I have experienced none of the problems the other reviewers mentioned. The player loads DVD's quickly and is effortless to setup and looks great right out of the box.

Disappointed
Pros: The physical DVD player looks nice. Comes with HDMI-cable.
Cons: This is perhaps the most finicky DVD player I've ever owned when it comes to burned discs. It will try loading them for a minute sometimes, and then say that they are dirty and cannot be played. These discs work in any other DVD player I've ever used, (I've tried different media, different speeds, nothing works).
The "feel" of the remote and the onscreen menu/navigation system is extremely sluggish, even with discs that do work.
Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this DVD Player to anybody who plays any sort of burned media. While the video quality is nice, (when it works), the control system is horrible and quite disappointing.

Hoping for a happy conclusion...
Pros: Ergonomic / aesthetic design is excellent, as are all current products in the Samsung range.
Cons: Whilst this worked "OK" with the component out, HDMI output (to a new Samsung LN-S4092D LCD) was horrific - excessive motion blur, color banding, blockiness. Tested with multiple DVDs. Assuming this is a defective unit, per a call I made to Samsung tech support.
Other Thoughts: Online reviews suggest that this is a great product, and I hope the RMA works perfectly! I'm sure Newegg will take care of me.

Hasn't worked since I got it.
Pros: Its really light and doesn't cost much to ship it back to the manufacturer each time it breaks.
Cons: I had this player one day and the HDMI playback started to stutter and black out.I sent it to Samsung because this model is not refundable through Newegg.I got it back from Samsungs repair place, watched one DVD on it,then shut it off. Now the player wont even turn on.I called Samsung once again and I am sending it to get repaired for a second time. They dont do refunds as long as the thing is fixable.
Other Thoughts: This player has been nothing but a headache, and I've only got to watch 2 movies on it!

Disappointed Movie Guy
Pros: I wouldn't know if this unit had any pros, it didn't work from day one.
Cons: Called Samsung tech support and spent over 3 hours waiting on them. I was finally told that I apparently had another defective unit from them. What does that mean? ANOTHER defective unit?
Other Thoughts: There is one bright note to this. Kudos to NewEgg customer support for a quick and friendly response.

Samsing DVD
Pros: Adjusts Widescreen to fit my 46" LCD. 1080 upconversion looked, good overall. Easy to use.
Cons: This product was defective. During movie play the image would go black but audio was still present. I had to switch between HDMI modes to get the image to come back. Not happy.
Other Thoughts: I have had bad luck with Samsung products. Hopefully the RMA one is better and I plan not to buy another Samsung product again. I have had three defective TVs from Samsung and this is my second DVD player. Samsung keeps replacing my TV so I can not complain about service.

Excellent Upconverter
Pros: I wasn't ready to make the transition to HDDVD or BluRay. They're both obscenely priced, I don't want to be an early adopter of a new technology or have anything to do with a format war, I own everything I could ever possibly want on DVD, and it's only a matter of time before one HD format becomes standard and therefore cheap. I just wanted something that would make my DVDs look better than standard 480p on my HDTV for the time being, and the Samsung HD960 fits the bill nicely. Every movie I've tried (ex: Matrix, Gladiator, Revenge of the Sith) looks exceptionally crisp and clear in 720p or 1080i via HDMI. It's certainly not as good looking as BluRay or HDDVD, but it looks noticably better than a progressive scan player. In fact, it looks far better IMHO. My gf (who's not the most tech saavy person) is unable to tell the difference between this player and the Samsung BluRay player we looked at the other day.
Cons: A little pricey, but you get what you pay for I suppose. Older movies don't look quite as good, or in some cases look downright awful, but that's to be expected. An upconverter is only as good as its source material.
Other Thoughts: Support for 1080p ensures it will look good even on the most high-end of displays.

small machine with big feature set
Pros: I use this via HDMI cable with the ViewSonic N3251w monitor. Once I plugged it in, pressed+held the HDMI button on the remote to get to 1080i. It recognized computer format DVD's with divx/mpg material, as well as jpg and mp3.
Cons: none yet
