Rating + 5 Great purchase

Pros: The image quality is excellent. Playing PS3 on it is a dream, vivid colors, great TV and awesome sound.

Cons: This is nitpicking, but it doesn't display the time when you press the Display button, my older tv used to do it. Just hard to break the habit, I guess. Also, doesn't let you turn off inputs, so you have to shuffle through them all to get to the one you want. Other TVs let you do this or rename them.

Other Thoughts: Newegg and UPS got it to me three days after the purchase was charged to my credit card. Love Newegg.

Rating + 5 highly recommended

Pros: We've owned two of these for a couple of years now (were around $1,000 then) and they are still working 100%. I have two pc's connected to mine, one via vga and one via HDMI and they both look amazing at native resolution of 1360x768. Most new games support the resolution as well, and if not this baby supports most popular aspect ratios anyway. With the p.i.p. i can have both pc's on the screen at once for MMO power-gaming ;)
The picture while watching HDTV is as amazing as HD can be.

Cons: I can't afford another one.. but that's not there fault, this is an amazing deal.

Other Thoughts: This TV is highly recommended weather using for television or PC the quality is simply amazing.

Rating + 5 Sweet TV

Pros: Cheap, 720p, HDMI's, Great size for my location.

Cons: Doesn't have that glossy finish like those samsungs
=(

Other Thoughts: I use it for watching movies, tv, and the occasional gaming. I only have a wii which with component cables can only go up to 420p, so I haven't made use of the hdmi ports yet, but I only imagine that they would look fantastic.

Rating + 5 Great for the price

Pros: Great picture.
Displays 1080p even though it says its a 720p TV.
Decent sound.

Cons: Not the greatest look.
Confusing menu system, but you get used to it.
Decent sound.

Other Thoughts: For the picture quality, which is actually an LG screen I have heard, this is one of the best you can get.
The value is great and the slight cons are greatly over-done by the price of the unit.
New Egg gave me half the discount of the price drop that happened a day or two later.
That's why I shop here for any product they stock that I need.

Rating + 2 Good while it lasted

Pros: Worked good for 1yr. and 2 months, and yes the warranty is for 1 yr.,was happy with it till it suddenly quit working, it will not power up, looking at a totally black screen. called support tried unplugging everything for a couple of hours as told but I had already tried this before with same results, dead LCD HDTV

Cons: I guess this is just a High priced throw away product. If the main board costs $400 to fix this, what fool would go that route.

Other Thoughts: I will give tech support one more try. I will not recommend this product to anyone if this is not resolved to my satisfaction.

Rating + 5 awesome PC monitor

Pros: this tv rocks as a pc monitor, I have it at 1360x768 running dvi-hdmi from my compuer, and text is razor sharp and colors are dead on, pics look just incredible, I can't even get this good pic from my 52" 1080p LCD panel samsung, amazing, HD channels are great, sd channels just average, but asa computer monitor, worth every penny

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: hmmm, I am using this more than my 52" samsung, anyone wanna 52" sammy?

Rating + 1 Avoid Olevia

Pros: Low price.

Cons: It doesn't last. The warm up time grows longer and longer until after 6 months it won't turn on at all. All I had was a constant blue light and no response with buttons or remote.

Other Thoughts: I called the service number and they talked me through the fixes I'd already tried before agreeing to replace the unit. Model 537H has free replacement so there was, thankfully, no charge to me. I was given a service number and told to fax proof of purchase. About a month later, having heard nothing from them, I called and was told it was still in process. Another month, another call. Finally in the 3rd month, still no word from them, I called again and the ball began rolling. I was told it was in stock and would take a week before it shipped at which time I would be given a tracking number. It was shipped by NVC (never heard of them before this) and I did indeed receive a call giving me a tracking number. I tracked it as it crawled across the country for a week only to stop 2 hours away where it was left with another company who could not or would not deliver it the final miles.

Rating + 4 An excellent low-cost television

Pros: A very good price on a second-best-in-class product, according to ConsumerReports. I've been extremely happy with this television so far. Looks good, has plenty of connections, and is actually only a one-person lift, despite claims on the box to the contrary.

Cons: Very strange on-screen menu system. Takes some time to get used to. Cycling through all inputs to get to the one you want. Incredibly bright blue "off" LED, which turns on when the tv turns off (can be disabled from menu).

Other Thoughts: I would buy this tv again, were it not already sitting in my living room.

Rating + 4 Great buy

Pros: I bought a refurbished unit and can't say enough good things about it. Great picture in both HD and SD. I looked for a long time before finally settling on the 537H. Split screen is pretty sweet if you like to watch DVDs and a game at the same time.

Cons: The tuner is a little slow to change channels but I knew that going in and was willing to live with that in exchange for a great picture at a great price. Plan on hooking it up to a home theater system, the speakers are pretty bad.

Other Thoughts: 37" is good for my apartment but if you have a larger living room I would suggest going to 42" or bigger if you watch alot of movies etc.

Rating + 5 Great LCD HDTV!!!!!!

Pros: A great LCD HDTV for function and price! I've had this beauty for a couple years now, and have had no trouble whatsoever. It's made here in the US, which makes me happy to see some competition for a change with overseas manufacturers. I've hauled this TV back and forth between apartments and used it for PC gaming and the usual movie/television stuff. It's fairly rugged and lightweight. Even the built in speakers have a decent range. More than enough audio/video/data inputs to please most users. No dead pixels....beautiful picture! Keep up the good work Olevia! Thanks Newegg!

Cons: I had no trouble while performing the firmware upgrade. I found it simple enough, but can imagine it could be difficult for the normal home user to figure out. I don't believe it is going to always be necessary to update it, but the process should come with better documentation for the less tech savvy.

Other Thoughts: For a little more than I paid a couple years ago you can pick up the Olevia 42". I've considered going bigger, but the 37" really is plenty. Maybe when I have some extra dough kicking around. Also, for the previous posts complaining about poor customer service and choosing to buy another brand next time:

1. Getting a defective device is rare with today's manufacturing processes, so your just unlucky! It happens to everyone at one time or another.

2. Customer service is touch and go pretty much wherever you shop (except Newegg and some few others who are fantastic). Get used to it....stop crying about it!

3. For those of you who have had multiple Olevia TV's that have died you might want to consider filtering your wall power...or perhaps you don't ground your expensive audio/video equipment? Two dead within a couple months makes it apparent that you've got other issues in the mix...not the TV! Get A Clue!

Rating + 2 A Warrantee Warning

Pros: Price. Newegg service. Both of which have nothing to do with Olevia.

Cons: Warranty service! Hope you don't need it. After about 6 months, this tv wouldn't turn on at all. Called the service center who talked me through options I'd already tried until finally they agreed to replace the unit. For this model you get in-house set up. I was told the deliverer would call 48 hours before delivery. I'm still waiting almost 2 months later.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't buy another Olevia. There are other brands out there in the same price range. Why take the chance?

Pros: Looked great while it worked.

Cons: Olevia customer service and support

Other Thoughts: Started with the LT37HVS that died in 8 months, Olevia sent me a 537H as a replacement which now has died after 7 months the warranty (1 year) starts from the day you bought the first product, so I have a throw away 7 month old set. I have the same problem as the other reviewer the standby light is on but the set will not power up from what I gather it needs a new mainboard,$400.00 almost half of the price of a new one!

Pros: Great picture for the price. Picture looks as good as many high-end TVs. Lots of features and color controls.
Mine came with 2 HDMI ports. Rated #2 by Consumer Reports (37" category).

Cons: User's manual is on CD-Rom instead of paper. Online warranty registration was impossible (tried for a week).

Other Thoughts: Best bang for the buck. Hope it doesn't break b/c customer support has a bad reputation. So far, so good!

Rating + 2 Buyer warning!

Pros: Newegg as always is great they are one of the most efficient company's around. The picture quality is amazing for the price great TV when they work.

Cons: Had this model and a 42 inch go dead after about 9 months for the 37 6 months for the 42.Olivia makes you pay to ship them back and then sits on them for months. After 6 weeks I called and they said 2 more months to repair it so after hours on the phone they said they will ship me a rebuilt wich I have yet to see after 2 months with no TV's.Theres no room to go in to detail about the 42 inch but we are still waiting for that one as well.

Other Thoughts: It pays to get a name brand Olivia dos not back their product when it breaks you wait and wait some more and pay to ship it to them so you can wait.

Rating + 5 Beautiful TV!

Pros: Picture is great for all inputs, easy to set up, highly adjustable. Stores adjustments for each input, so the touch-ups I make for my PS3 (which I use as my primary DVD, Blue-Ray and CD player - audio directly to my Onkyo receiver) are different than the ones I've made for my X-Box and regular cable and Nintendo 64 and VCR. TV itself, looks great.

Cons: ...Um....I guess I wish the "black bars" were darker black - they feel a little grey-ish depending on the light in the room, but again, it's adjustable.

Other Thoughts: This is a great TV , and a great way to move to HD. I'll prolly buy a new TV in 3-5 years, but this is great step up, in the right direction. No problems ordering from Newegg, actually found it cheaper than most and got the free power-strip....a day later, the price went up...

Rating + 5 Very Good TV

Pros: A great tv for the price. Does all they say.

Cons: Worried if I ever need customer service as many reviews indicate that it's not to good.

Other Thoughts: I had the popping sound that has been mentioned by some reviewers but after about five days it went away and never came back. I leave my tv on all day. After day two I only heard the pop a couple of more times.

Pros: Beautiful Picture, easy hook up to pc (it's now my monitor) and works reasonably well with my 360. HD video looks awesome in 1080i. The quality is really amazing.

Cons: Dull sound. doesn't play age of empires 2 well.

Pros: Great picture, great price, 2 HDMI

Cons: Speakers are OK, hear some buzzing from the speakers when volume is up

Other Thoughts: I wanted to get this on black friday from target for $550, but they were out, I was so mad I went online and get it for $650 shipped. I really like it, I wish I could afford a 1080p, but its not a big deal. Cable tv looks good at 720p and I have an upconvert DVD player ($30) that upconverts to 1080i. Great upgrade from my 27" RCA SDTV for not too much dough. 37" is a good size.

Rating + 5 Good Buy

Pros: Great quality and great price. I replaced a TV that was over 10 years old and did a lot of looking around before deciding on this one, I was not disappointed. Plenty of inputs, I have DVD, Cable, Tivo, Playstation 2 and X-box all hooked up with cables for my laptop when I use that. There is still more room for additional inputs!

Cons: There is a Blue LED light that comes on when the TV is OFF. It's really bright, and can be annoying, I'll probably end up putting some tape over it.

Other Thoughts: Mine came with 2 HDMI even though only one was listed (BONUS)

Rating + 5 A Solid Deal!

Pros: This TV has a great picture! I've already used the TV for several hours, and with lots of different input types; Xbox 360 (thru Component), Standalone DVD Player (thru Component), and a Media PC (thru VGA).
The PC image is incredibly sharp, and has been used to play lots of 720p .mkv videos. Excellent sharpness and color.
The quality of DVD (480i) withstanding, they've all looked great as well.
Same can be said for the Xbox 360 too.

Cons: The speakers are not removable. I only use them with the local HD channels. Otherwise I pipe everything else through an external reciever.
The menu is kind of strange from the get-go, but after you spend some time with it, it really isn't that difficult to navigate.

Other Thoughts: This is my first HDTV. I came from a 2 year old 27" flat-screen tube. The 37" screen on this TV is enormous (in a good way!) compared to the 27". The 16:9 ratio also is awesome for movies! So much more useable screen real estate.
This TV is also lighter than the smaller tube, which is another great perk!
The only disappointment is with my DVD player. I wish I had an upconverting player to take advantage of the 720p LCD!
I did a lot of research before buying an HDTV. I had my heart set on a 1080p first off, but learned about the importance of room size to what kind of TV one would need. I have a fairly small apartment living room, and the 720p 37" is a perfect setup. With HD input, it looks phenomenal.
I'm sad I missed it on Black Friday at Target!
Highly recommended "beginner" HDTV!

Rating + 5 Good budget HDTV

Pros: I'm a college student living in a dorm and this is a perfect LCD TV for a tight budget. I went TV shopping and there are better LCDs TVs with better quality but you gotta pay the price for it. Plenty of connections. Playstation 3 looks very crisp and the colors vibrant. If you got a tight budget, this is definitely the right choice and a gamers TV.

Cons: The menu was slightly confusing at first but easy to get use to. The remote seems a little out of place. Only 1 HDMI input so you have to invest in a HDMI switcher if you have multiple HDMI inputs. And the manual is a CD which saves paper but having to turn on the PC, boot the CD and scroll through the options just for one little thing is annoying.

Other Thoughts: Excellent choice for the average consumer, even a few year temporarily fill-in until everything goes full 1080p (and until the prices drop for those TVs).

Rating + 4 Good TV

Pros: This TV is sweet for watching anything, and i especially like playing Xbox 360 on it. I live in a frat and have this guy wallmounted to save space, and so far no major problems. Got it for $600 from here Refurbed.

Cons: I haven't yet upgraded the TV, and i donn't know what fixes there are but i sometimes experience a glitch in the TV's reception when i turn it on, but turning it off, then on solves this. I've had to return the TV to factory settings a few times, and search for channels, but i get some HD channels no one else in the house gets so meh.

Other Thoughts: Budget TV that delivers what you pay for. If i had the money i would have gone with a higher quality set like Samsung.

Pros: price, picture, tuner, sound

Cons: non

Other Thoughts: I bought this on another site for $100 cheaper but typically use newegg, expecially for reviews. Turn on time was only about 6 seconds fom me. Wheel menu was easy to learn. Setup was a snap. Adjusted picture to "native" for color and everything just popped! beatiful hd and xbox 360. Regular sd channels like just fine as well. Good remove and has an option to turn of the blue led. It's not near as bright as some have complained about. Great picture, sound, and options well exceeding the competition in this price range. You would have to speen $300 more to get better picture.

Rating + 4 Nice for a roll of the dice

Pros: Lots of inputs, though my model only has 1 HDMI. Gambled on a refurb/open box item, even kept the box "just in case" and it's paid off for 6 months so far. I like it. So do my family, friends and neighbors. My nephew loves playing Dirt on his XBOX 360...coupled with a nice surround sound system, gaming is outstanding for your average player.

Cons: My cat discovered the TV box while I waited for something to go wrong with my refurb purchase. It is now an essential part of his play routine, so now though I would like to, I CAN'T throw it away till this nutty cat ages a bit and loses interest!

Other Thoughts: 1)For my budget, the Olevia 537H rocks. 2)Newegg eff-ing ROCKS yet again! 3)My cat is clearly insane.

Pros: I would highly recomend this item from my experience. Lot's of features, no problems to date.

Cons: Shortly after purchase/registration I emailed mfg tech support with a question, concerning mounting. I have yet to recieve a response (over 30 days). I'm hoping that there is an explaination, but it doesn't give me a "warm fuzzy" if there is a problem I can't resolve on my own.

Other Thoughts: 37" units are on the way out. Prices on HDTVs are falling as competition "heats up". I did a lot of both "on foot/online research" before this purchase. Prices are being reduced by "eliminating connections and veratility". Depends what you want.

Pros: Biggest Pro would be newegg's delivery! I got this tv two days after I ordered it (I ordered at midnight).

I use the tv solely for xbox360 and movies. The tv works great with linking to a media center pc and transcoding for 16:9. Movies like sharp, games look better with even the standard component cables. TV looks great at 1080i.

From my 2 weeks with the tv, I would say it's quite a steal for the money.

Cons: 37" is too big to fit in a subaru impreza!!!

Other Thoughts: Highly recommend this tv. People have complained about the sound. At relatively low volumes I notice no problems. It's not amazing sound, but the picture makes up for it - if you're looking to fill a big room buy a 5.1 upconvert home theater with this and you'll be set!

Rating + 5 Listed specs are wrong

Pros: It would appear that Olevia has upgraded and changed this model since the product was first sold on Newegg, as the TV has different inputs/outputs than are listed here. Either that or I got a different TV (which I highly doubt as all recent reviews also mention the two HDMI ports).

Input/Outputs on the TV I purchased on 9/24/07 are as follows...

INPUTS: 2 HDMI, 2 VGA, 2 s-video, 2 component + L/R RCA, 2 composite + 2 L/R RCA, one antennna in (co-ax), one firmware upgrade port.

AUDIO OUTPUTS: Coaxial and Optical, stereo mini-jack(headphone jack, 3.5mm). RCA L/R and subwoofer out.

Cons: None whatsoever. Fantastic TV for the price. Haven't had any issues with the TV at all, so haven't upgradeed the firmware. It may in fact already have the latest firmware, which would explain the lack of bugs that some people have reported.

Other Thoughts: So, basically in the updated model Olevia is giving us one more HDMI port, at the expense of a component input. Works for me.

Rating + 5 Good stuff

Pros: The TV came via UPS without a hitch. I was home for the delivery so I can't comment about them leaving TV's, however it came in decent packaging and was not messed up at all.

Hooking it up was easy (Mine has 2 HDMI ports) and despite a small hiccup with my cable box (it died shortly after hooking it up) everything is going well.

The image is great, it picks up my HD in 1080i and looks stellar. Colors are great as well.

Cons: The menu is weird but not as bad as some people make it sound. Anyone that's under the age of 50 should be fine.

Other Thoughts: I'd buy it again so far. Tech support was good as well (cable box died and had the sound go out) and it ended up not being a TV problem.

Rating + 5 Best Tv I've ever owned

Pros: This Tv is great!! Good size , built in high def tuner , has hdmi , and the on board speakers are actually pretty good. Xbox 360 looks amazing on it.

Cons: The menu is a bit lame but is easy to figure out. Mine only had one Hdmi...........but that might be because i bought mine back in April , i dont mind cuz i dont have alot of Hdmi devices (yet). It has developed about four stuck red pixels but cant be seen unless your face is inches from the screen and even then they are hard spot so who cares. And the box arrived looking like someone was practicing sword techniques on it.....thank heavens the Tv inside was flawless!THESE CONS ARE MINOR , WOULD BUY THIS AGAIN IN A HEATBEAT!!

Other Thoughts: After about 5-6 months i wish i would have got a slightly larger set that had 1080p but whatever i saved some money. Unless UPS does a better job in your neck of the woods with large items , buy it locally so that will be one less thing to worry about or select a better shipping company....Fedex isnt much better though , lol

Pros: Excellent Picture, Picks up some HD channels but i have only subscribed to basic cable. User upgradeable firmware via usb port. Has multiple connections, more then you will ever need. Price is very resonable.

Cons: Poor code selection for the remote. My Emerson DVD player cannot be programed on remote but its 4 years old!!). Only 1 year warranty.

Other Thoughts: Shipping was quick, BUT box had minor damage. UPS left it without asking for signature which I thought was required. Screen has a scratch but not really noticable and TV works fine. Also, be present to accept shipment since UPS is really bad and leaves it without signature. Check the box and may be even the TV inside before UPS guy leaves. Newegg needs to make sure UPS asks for signature. Also, Combo with Ritek DVD player is not worth it since you pay additional $xx for shipping.

Rating + 5 Best 37 inch price to performance ratio available.

Pros: I got this at special, xxx(it was bumped to xxx just 2 days after my purchase) and a xx mail in rebate. Excellent picture, even in 480i digital cable. Picture is amazing using standard video/audio connections on my DVD player. My set does have 2 HDMI. Speakers are plenty adequate. Very sleek looking. I have noticed some complaints about UPS and packaging. Not with mine. Box was flawless, and TV was packed well with plenty of foam for protection. I will be getting an antenna here shortly to see check out the HD quality. (gotta love the built in tuner)

Cons: For the price. NONE. I am elated over this TV. I like the one year warranty as well, where a tech will come out to you.

Other Thoughts: I don't get all the rants over the menu. I did not even read the manual which came on disk,(no big deal there either) and I was able to navigate the menus quite easily after just a few minutes. I noticed the "NATIVE" temperature on the settings looked better than the 6500 and 9300.

Pros: Forgot to mention one thing..some people have mentioned only one HDMI port, perhaps Olevia has upgraded this model since those reviews were written, because there are definitely TWO HDMI ports on this TV.

Cons: NT

Rating + 5 Awesome TV for the price

Pros: Crisp and clear picture, decent sound from built-in speakers, overall look/design of the TV is very sharp in person. Pictures don't do it justice. Size is quite adequate, 37 inches looks way bigger then I thought it would. For people concerned that the TV doesn't do 1080p, don't be. 720p is more then enough for a 37 inch TV -- 1080p is really only needed for larger TVs.

Cons: I can see why some people have complaints regarding the menu system, it is a little clunky. I didn't have trouble with it, but it took a minute to get used to it's unusual navigation system. Definitely not a deal-breaker.

Other Thoughts: Regarding the bright blue LED that is lit up when the TV is off that several people complained about - turns out it's a non-issue: You can disable that LED in the menus.

Rating + 3 good picture quality, bad QAM

Pros: Good picture quality, no dead pixel, set up is easy. One can set up the TV without the manual on CD.

Cons: QAM is not picking up all the HDTV channels from the cable signal. The auto scan missed one network channel which was picked up by my Sony and Hyundai LCD HDTVs. Called the technical support and the tech support said there is nothing he can do. He blamed the signal strenghth for the channel, but the Sony and Hyundai both have signal strengh meters and both said the signal strengh for that channel is strong. Set came with a scrw missing.

Other Thoughts: This TV came with firmware B12 and I believe the bug is within the firmware. Lacking the ability to add HDTV channel such as 106-7 is a feature missed by Olevia.

Rating + 3 Wouldn't Reccomend

Pros: Inexpensive, smaller form factor thanks to speakers on the bottom. Speaker volume works well. Lots of inputs that all work. Picture is very nice.

Cons: Slow to turn on. DirecTiVo remote can't control it. (poor code acceptance). Menu System. Remote control lacking features.
I recommended my previous 37" Olevia to everyone, this one I cannot.

Other Thoughts: Olevia needs to rethink this. The previous generation worked great until the mainboard went out on mine. This model lacks several things that just worked in the previous LT37HVS models. Remote control codes, time to display after power on.
It's got a nice picture once it's on...but I literally turn it on then go get a glass of water and come back and it's still not on.

Rating + 4 Good Value, Great Picture

Pros: The Picture is great with no dead pixels. More than enough inputs to hook up home theater devices. The tuner easily picks up tons of HDTV broadcasts in upstate NY for FREE. PBS and Sports are what HDTV was made for. I've cancelled my Satelite service and only use cable for internet. The VGA input works great for using a Laptop to diplay internet movies on the big screen and awesome family picture slideshows. (get a 10ft or longer male to male VGA cable) Nice energy star power saving features. ON Site warranty service included if needed. The TV handles 1080i, 720p, 480p signals all fine with great picture quality. I doubt anyone can tell the difference from a 1080i set, so save your money for a HD or blueray DVD player.

Cons: The menu system is surprisingly confusing and inconsistent. Even the CD manual does not help much. Still everything seems to work the way I want it to. I dont always get a signal from my HDMI input from the upconvert DVD player. Might be a bad cable or cheap upconvert DVD player. The the component inputs always work great. They just require slightly more cables.

Other Thoughts: Despite close inspection of the shipping container, the TV frame was slightly damaged. Just cosmetic so I'm still happy. (such a big box is tough to ship, so it needs better padding) A box store had the same TV for the same price, so a return would be easier there. Also, the excellent zoom and aspect functions make it unnecessary to use an upconvert DVD player to watch movies. The 480p signal from standard DVD players (use the component conections) can be easily expanded for great full screen viewing without a new DVD player. You can wait till the HD or Blueray battle is decided before buying a new DVD player.

Pros: Very good product for the price.Did alot of research before buying this TV.Great picture with a well built design.HD excellent with this product.Received product quickly and in perfect condition.

Cons: Poor way to setup a TV like this.A manual on a CD?Come on Olevia get with it.How many people have the time to boot computers to see what to do with a product. You have a good product, run with it!

Other Thoughts: would buy other products from Newegg.

Rating + 4 Nice second set

Pros: Loved both the SD and HD picture. Great size for the bedroom, no blur on fast moving sports, sensitive HD tuner. Great price-got it for $699 at KMart, for goodness sakes!

Cons: Only negative is 1 HDMI input, standard nowadays is at least 2. Startup times of most HDTV is not instanteous, so delay doesn't bother me.

Other Thoughts: John from Buffalo's post was erroneous. He talked of getting the warranty because of the cost of bulb replacement. This is a LCD flat panel, not a DLP or LCos projection. LCD flat panels don't use those replacement bulbs like projection sets. Most LCD flat panels have been rated at 60,000 user hours as opposed to the 6,000 to 8,000 hours in which projection bulbs are useful.

Rating + 5 Love it

Pros: I have tivo hooked up to my low def TV and I'm willing to sit through the commercials on this one just to have the amazing picture. This thing is high quality at a discount price!

My cable provider only offers HD through component video. It still looks fantastic and saved me some money on cabling.

Some people have complained about the on screen menuing, but I actually like it. It's the same style as my Magnavox.

Cons: I had a hard time detaching the stand so I could mount it on the wall. I had to buy an extra long screwdriver and a telescoping magnet to get the screws out.

Even at a very respectable 1600:1 the contrast is noticeably less than plasma or DLP. Scenes where you'd notice are rare, but I have noticed it occasionally.

Other Thoughts: Don't forget to use the "lighting" button on the remote.

Pros: Awesome picture... tons of connections... no dead pixels... great comp. monitor... xbox took my breath away... oh yeah and the PRICE!!! NEWEGG CAN'T BE BEAT!!!

Cons: Same as previous reviews: a lil slow on start up; changing from channel to channel is slow; menu is a kinda difficult

Other Thoughts: Only issues i had in the whole experience were the TV came later than expected but i have a huge issue with UPS and their shipping policies... also the box came with a huge dent/hole upon inspection but the hole was in the back of the TV so nothing was damaged... INSPECT THE BOX BEFORE YOU SIGN!

Rating + 5 Great TV - Outstanding price

Pros: I was somewhat skeptical when I ordered this TV because the price was so low. I had spent several week researching HD TV's and the price on this just seemed too low. I read various reviews of the product and all of them were positive so I took a chance. I found the TV easy to install with easy to understand directions and I love this TV. Great picture, the sound is good (not great), but that's ok because I'm using it with a system that has surround sound. My "other" TV just gave up the ghost, so I'm going to buy a second 37" Olevia TV becausse may experience with the first has been outstanding.

Cons: You need to make sure you are getting a model with an HD tuner. Some of the 37" models do not have an HD tuner.

Pros: Picture is very respectable.
Easy setup with straight forward menu.

Sound is great for being a TV

Cons: only 1 HDMI connection

Other Thoughts: Had this TV for a week. Ultra fast shipping. Even though my box was open it seemed to be ok and everything worked fine.
I just hope that it lasts 14 years like my sony trinitron did.

Rating + 4 Consumer Report's "Best Buy"

Pros: Gorgeous Display, very sharp. Works brilliant with PC output (dvi to hdmi), and the built-in tuner works wonders for standard def TV. widescreen and HD inputs look fantastic. For the money, this screen is a very impressive size. It is also Consumer Report's "Best Buy" for LCD televisions at the moment, and I'd have to agree. Syntax-Brillian's warranty covers in-house repair for 1 year for this model. Shipping was sufficient. No damage.

Cons: No hotkeys for source inputs, you have to cycle them. Remote doesn't work well as a universal remote. on-screen menus are a bit hard to read and slightly difficult to navigate. PIP will not work if you pull up the tuner source for either picture. Odd cropping/h-align issues: the auto alignment feature does not seem to work for my cable box's HDMI output, but worked fine for my PC. I seem to have to manually adjust the horizontal alignment a lot for standard definition sources. a lot.

Other Thoughts: I certainly don't regret my purchase. The warranty covers anything but shipping damages, so inspect the unit before the courier leaves (open the box). Otherwise, syntax-brillian covers in-house repair for this model, so that's pretty spiffy. There are a lot of shortcomings with the interface (remote and menus) but the display is still brilliant and it's got plenty of hookups for everything you need.

I doubt you're going to find a better 37". Honest. It looks great for standard input, and (of course) awesome for widescreen/HD. Just make sure you've got the right cables, and the right settings (you may not always want to "full screen" your standard input.)

Rating + 4 Great, BUT

Pros: Gorgeous picture!!!

Cons: Many people complain about the remote, but that's not been an issue with me. The issues I have experienced are: 1)TV has 2 timers to use as alarm clocks in the morning by turning the TV on. The timers do not work correctly, and repeated contacts with Olevia have been fruitless (i.e. support is virtually non-existant). 2) Channel skip feature does not work. When you allow the TV to scan for all available channels, then wish to delete or exclude some channels, you usually can exclude the analog channels, but you can not exclude digital channels. 3) The TV has 8 or 9 inputs, but you are not able to disable any of them. For example, if you only use the inputs Tuner, HDMI, and Component 1, you can not set the TV to just cycle through these 3 inputs. You have to manually cycle through all 8 or 9 to get to the input you desire. Repeated requests for help from Olevia's support have been useless. They have not updated the firmware for this set since August 2006, even with all these "problems".

Other Thoughts: Again, the picture is fantastic, especially for the price, but I'm not sure I would purchase it again knowing the' some would say' "minor problems". The lack of support is very troubling (I even sent a very objective and factual snail-mail letter to the COO of Olevia, and never got any response).

Rating + 5 Great TV, User Interface Needs Work

Pros: Great picture in all resolutions. 1080i is jaw-droppingly sweet if you have equipment that generates that signal. Plenty of inputs, though I'd like an additional HDMI or two, since that's the way all HD stuff connects. I have my PowerBook, AppleTV, TiVo and Coax all connected. It all works fine. Good value for money. Image clarity is as good (of better) as sets costing twice as much.

Cons: Startup is a tad slow—about 20 seconds between when you push the ON button and when you're watching TV—but it's not a dealbreaker. User menus/interface is a tangled jumble of confusion. Olevia should hire a good UI expert and fix this in a firmware update. It's the acchiles heel of this otherwise excellent set.

Other Thoughts: Because it has a built-in HD tuner, it can pick up all HD stations in the area. My cable company wants to charge me an additional 10 bucks a month for a HD box. We only have about 8 HD channels on our service. The dirty little secret is that you can grab these through the straight coax connection without a dedicated box. Of course, this scheme won't work if you want premium HD channels like HBO, etc. Non-issue for me since I don't subscribe to those anyway.

Rating + 4 Good enough

Pros: Price is very good for the size and quality.

The audio is impressive, and from normal viewing distance the video is equally impressive.

Cons: From 3 feet or closer there is noticable ghosting, maybe this is normal for large LCD's , as this is my first one... i found it slightly odd that everything goes a lil fuzzy when things start moving. " not noticable past about 5 feet , but really who watchs movies or TV on a 37'' from 2 feet away :p.

Other Thoughts: I was worried after buying and seeing it has no tuner, because i dont have cable or satalite!!! luckly , it does have a tuner or atleast i think it does cause im watching all my basic cable like normal, i even found 40 digital channels im not paying for with the auto channel seach feature.

Pros: Great price. Wonderful SD picture.

Cons: Interface menu is for freaks. Impossible to find universal remote codes and Syntex/Olevia support is not forthcoming.

Rating + 4 Good Product, Disapointment in shipping

Pros: Good Picture, not bad streaching to fit the screen with vhs tapes/regular cable. User upgradeable via usb port. 1 year parts and labor in home warrenty! I would give 5, but its hard to push me to it.

Cons: Poor code selection for the remote. Would be a good universial remote if Olevia would update, won't run any LG componets, or DVD recorders. Don't think the've updated the codes since the tv was first released. Could use additional HDMI. Extended warrenty starts with purchase, not after factory warrenty expires.

Other Thoughts: Shipping was quick, BUT was left on my front porch. The delivery guy came back by as I was taking pics of the damage to the box (I wouldn't have signed for) to "make sure someone had gotten to it". I gave him a good chewing for leaving it and that signature was required by newegg. He said they didn't pay for signature service!!! and that his delivery was closed out and he couldn't accept it back if box damaged!!! I took plenty of pics. Luckily was alright.

Rating + 5 What a Deal!

Pros: The Internal TV turner card picks up digital channels which include HD channels.(Even with RABBIT EAR ANTENNAS). channel organization using tv tuner is unique.(example: it will find channel 9, and 9-1 is its HD counterpart). The Olevia web site says this model gets 1080i, (as opposed to newegg specs), i currently get the best preformanace if i use 1080i. so i believe manufacturer website. currently have my cablebox, xbox 360, wii, and computer hooked up to it, all look very good. I use it as the main tv of the house. i find the clarity of the HD channels mezmorizing. you can split the screen and view multiple inputs at once. (example: i can watch TV (hdmi port) and use my computer (vga port) at the same time.) The remote is easy to use. The tv has Audio out ports to quickly be able to hook into your reciever. inluding optical audio. the tv gives you the option to turn off its speakers to give way to other audio options like an entertainment system

Cons: The settings and menu system takes a bit to get use to, although it is very manage-able. **this TV came to me in SHOW ROOM MODE*** this mode does not allow you to change any settings. I was un- aware of this and was slightly frustrated for 15 minutes till i turned this mode off. It is IMPORTANT that you turn off showroom mode. To View multiple inputs at once you have to be on completely different inputs. As in: you cant view two component video inputs at once, etc... regarding regular definition broadcasts: Although the picture is more than satisfactory the quality of standard definition now noticible due to being able to compare it to its HD counterpart. The manual for this tv is On CD. this inconviniece was enough that i have yet to look at it. and lastly this tv does take about 5 seconds to turn on. (there is a nice blue light on the front that lets you know that the turn on process has started) to sum it up: these cons are in my opinion good to know but fairly superficial.

Other Thoughts: Its important to relalize that the quality of your input signal is just as important as the quality of your tv. I.E. if you are watching a regular definition channel, your tv will show you regular definition. I purchaced this TV refurbished, and spent 1 full day inspecting every bit of this tv to make sure there were no defects. (lucky me, there were none.) I use a cable box. I find that the TV works best if the cable box transmits nothing less than 1080i. regular definition TV will still be regular definition but the tv signal from the box will be 1080i(confusing i know, it works). Depending on the channel i actively change the stretch, zooms, or normal aspects, of the both the cable box and the tv. using this strategy i have not found a channel i was unsatisfied viewing. My need to mess with these settings is very infrequent. but when i do use them i find comfort that they are there, and they make my tv expirience better. Tuner found 30 (6HD) w/ears and 99(8HD) w/cable. Chanls.

Pros: I will agree that the product is what I paid for. A great value TV. HD really looks nice. Olevia tech support was easily obtainable as a result of my "Cons". The TV would have gotten 5 stars if it didn't have issues. Overall I'm satisfied with the TV.

Cons: Arrived with audio issues out of the box. Possibly from damage due to shipping. As stated in other reviews the packaging is less than desirable.
Also the TV needed to be power cycled at random times to get the front buttons and remote to work.
Would have liked the option of two HDMI ports.

Other Thoughts: I'm writing this before I recieved the replacement TV from Olevia. Aside from random audio buzzes and loud pops the TV is great. I can only assume the replacement will perform correctly.

Rating + 5 Great tv for low price

Pros: This tv is perfect is you're upgrading from an old standard tv. The picture quality is excellent, the built in tuner found channels I didn't know I could catch. I'm not good with praise but I'll say that if I had the money at the moment I'd buy a second one for my friends.

Cons: The cons with this set are very minor and have mostly been mentioned in other reviews. The one thing I have to add is the lowest volume setting is sometimes too loud for being one push away from mute. This is only a problem if you like to hear things at very low levels.

Other Thoughts: Wish the system had a second HDMI port. The source button has the fortune of being located above the volume button. There has been a few times when I was reaching to put the volume up and hit the source, being that it round robins through sources it can be a pain when that happens. Overall I'd suggest this tv to anyone who doesn't already have an LCD HDTV

Rating + 5 Seems great so far...

Pros: I don't have a ton of HDTV experience.. but this TV seems great! Box came via UPS, in great shape. HD looks very sharp. (1080i via Optiumum, displaying only 720p because that's all the TV can do) Standard TV looks pretty bad, but I think that's the way it's supposed to be. TV seems very bright...

Cons: I have yet to figure out how to "stretch" standard 4:3 TV to fill the screen.. non of the options seem to do the trick. Maybe I need a firmware upgrade

Other Thoughts: be warned that with HDTV you'll find yourself sitting closer to the TV than with standard tv. If you sit too far back you feel like your not seeing all the detail... you are drawn closer to the TV!!

Pros: Low price, it came with a decent speaker system when I purchased it. Pretty good amount of inputs, but only 1 HDMI port. No visual shadowing that I could see and has better standard definition quality than I've seen on a good deal of even pricier tvs.

Cons: Wish it had a method of fixing LCD lag because I have had problems with audio lag, and hope that they start putting in different features to compensate for it.

Pros: Unit has a great picture with plenty of adjustment options.

Cons: Start up time, must cycle through all inputs, and a bad menu interface. Why is it when I push up or down does it skip options sometimes?

Other Thoughts: Great T.V. for the money. Needs more hdmi inputs. You can't go wrong with this set for the price. I only have two regrets, it is not a 1080p t.v. and now seems like it is just not big enough. This 37" unit is perfect for a small room.

Rating + 4 It has it's quirks but it's outstanding for the price

Pros: Excellent picture quality, many inputs. Good tuner.

Cons: Cycling through all those inputs, long startup time, power light on when the TV is off, popping from speakers. Weird menu interface

Other Thoughts: This TV definitely has it's quirks (see the cons). The long startup time really doesn't bother me too bad and the BRIGHT blue power light being on when the TV is off just seems backwards. The occasional loud pop from the speakers and having to cycle through EVERY input to get the one I want are annoying.

The picture quality is simply outstanding. I have a Panasonic plasma in my living room that cost twice as much and the picture looks the same on both TVs. The menu interface and input selection process on the Panasonic is much more intuative.

I got this TV for under $700 and it's a good budget TV. If you just care about a good picture this is a great TV. Sound is good but I can't figure out why I have the occasional pop.

Pros: Extra connectors, Crisp screen, Low form factor, HUGE! Price, Price, Price, 1600:1 contrast, list goes on... LOTS of features, excellent picture. Tuner built in.

Cons: VGA v. DVI, Remote seems a bit cheap.

Other Thoughts: By in large AMAZING for the price. Don't buy retail EVER for an LCD! I looked and waited for a NewEgg set at 37" to go on sale, and I'm glad I did. Has all the bells and whistles, etc. DO NOT buy without the 3 - 5 year service plan and SAVE YOUR SHIPPING BOX. It may seem stupid now, but if it ever breaks, trust me.. you'll be glad. Bulbs aren't cheap - never had one break, but never plan on screwing around either if it ever does. $150-$200 on a solid $1000 investement overall .. is cheap, comparied to 2 years in, having a bulb blow at $400-500 a shot. It's worth it levy.

Cons: The remote doesn't have a code for emerson dvd/vcr combo but it doesn't matter if you've got the remote to it anyway. I should have bought two.

Rating + 4 Superb buy

Pros: Excellent TV, especially for the price. Built-in HDTV tuner works great, even with an old UHF antenna. Plenty of inputs on the back. Remote is actually decent on this model - it lights up too. Speakers are decent for built-in and will hold you over until you get the surround connected.

Cons: On-screen menu (design) is a joke for such a nice TV (but has lots of options). Long power on time is annoying. Instruction manual CD did not work at all - acted like a blank CD and would not read. Round-robin input selection is a PITA (isn't this the 21st century?).

Other Thoughts: Take it out of demo mode when you first get it, otherwise things like auto-channel scan won't work! Radio Shack DA-5200 HD antenna works great, even indoors. See antennaweb.org for HDTV channel list, and directions from your house's POV.

Rating + 4 Great TV for a great price

Pros: I've had this TV since Christmas and have not had any problem with it. Not even a defective pixel! The picture quality is excellent, both in terms of resolution and color tone, with DVD and HD over the air broadcast. It's also works well for playing games from my laptop. Sound quality is also very good. The lighted remote is great for low-light situations. Firmware upgrade was easy to use, though it wasn't necessary for me to upgrade at this point.

Cons: Start up time is long, about 12 seconds from the time you turn it on to when you actually get to watch TV. It also takes about a second to switch from one channel to the next. Chosing an input source requires you to cycle through all choices, which is neither intuitive, direct, nor convenient.

Other Thoughts: I really like this TV, especially considering its relatively low price. I think it stacks up very well against much more expensive name-brand competitors, and flatly beats out many low-end HDTVs. The TV isn't as wide as many other 37" model, and thus fits well in my traditional TV cabinet. I would highly recommend this TV to others.

Pros: The 537H had an excellent display of HD and DVD images. Actually, the picture was awesome in HD and it was also great for gaming.

Picture quality was lower when watching standard definition from satellite receiver. This was expected - 4:3 had a better overall picture than 16:9. This was also expected.

During the time I was reviewing the 537H, I forgot that it was a 37" television. I thought it was 42" because the size of images appeared consistent with 42" TVs.

Cons: The time elapsed between turning on the television and seeing a picture was 10-15 seconds.

Other Thoughts: Olevia's 537H is a must see for anyone looking to buy a LCD TV with a limited budget. If you're thinking about a Vizio because you saw some commercials then I suggest you find a store near you to see how Olevia stacks up against the competition.

Rating + 5 Awesome HDTV

Pros: This is my first HDTV so I spent a couple weeks researching. This tv had good reviews from a bunch of different sources. Saw a lower model at a store and was sold on the picture. This runs a lot cheaper than the bigger name brands, but has a lot of the features of the others. Right out of the box hooked up to rabbit ears and got 20 over the air hd channels perfectly, looks amazing. (dallas market) Hooked up to my cable and Discovery HD theatre is drop dead gorgeous. Did not even have to play with settings. Plenty of connections. Good universal remote. No dead pixels. No issues with the colors. Black is black, white is white.

Cons: Like others have said, the tv takes about 10 seconds after turning on for the picture to come on. Also for channel surfing, it takes about a second between changing channels. Wish the manual was printed (comes on a cd). Just 1 HDMI, and not 1080p, but you won't find 1080p at this price. Lower contrast ratio compared to some of the higher end names, but again this price can't be beat. No DVI connection. Maybe not at this as some other LCDs (about 5.5")

Other Thoughts: Shipping was fast and box came in good condition. Packaging was very good (some people complained about it), nice remote, plenty of features for a lot lower price than the name brands. Have not hooked up my pc to it yet. Have not upgraded the firmware either. Would buy this tv again. Have already recommended it to my parents already. Very happy with purchase.

Rating + 5 Nice TV but....

Pros: Great TV for the buck, excellent picture quality, has all bells and whistles.

Cons: LCD TV had a thermal failure in the grafic processor. It took all in all 7 weeks, endless phone calls, sending digital pictures from the screen etc before the TV was replaced. On the Replacement form was 3 business days mentioned. The In home service will not come out when they suspect a failure on the Mainboard.

Other Thoughts: Super Bowl on a 9 inch portable really sucks.
With a great customer support this would be a great TV.

Rating + 5 Great LCD - For Real

Pros: Great bright picture, looks actually larger than a 37", remote that programs to about any kind of other audio/visual remote, Extensive picture and audio adjustments, HDMI connectivity, undermount speakers give more a "live" audio experience.

Cons: Very minor Cons - it does take about 2-3 seconds to change from channel to channel, and takes about 20 seconds to warm up and come on.

Other Thoughts: Great TV - this is made by Syntax and I compared this to LCD's from LG and Toshiba and decided on this one - at alot lower of a price. Also includes an HD tuner and the most elaborate selections of audio and video adjustments I have ever seen. Good remote that lights up ENTIRELY. Adequate black levers (no LCD's can give blacks that are dark black), good contrast ratio, and good enough audio. You should try this one out - it matches so many other LCD's that cost more. Check out thier web site - Olevia.com.

Rating + 5 Very Nice

Pros: It worked right out of the box. Everything hooked right up. The remote control easily took control of every piece of equipment in our rack. I've never had a remote that was able to do this. Viewing angle, picture quality is great!

Cons: Everyone is right. The 20 seconds or so it takes to reboot after being turned off is a bit scary, but that's small compared to everything else.

Other Thoughts: What a deal! It has every kind of input and output imaginable. I did soooo much research, this being our first non-tube TV, but it turned out to be easy.

Rating + 4 Great set for the price

Pros: Great picture quality in HD and as a computer monitor. I've only used the VGA input so far but I assume HDMI can only be better. SD picture is very good and seems to be getting better as the set "breaks in." Only in certain scenes of subtle color variation do you see some of that bubbly pixelated effect. Differences in source material can be obvious -- a tape replay of a sporting event can look pretty crummy, while a live game broadcast in HD can look great even in SD. This 37" inch set is less wide than most, and fits very neatly on a 37" wide shelf. The other sets I researched wouldn't fit. Finally, while some people say this set looks kinda drab, I like it. It doesn't draw attention to itself and the matte finish doesn't reflect light.

Cons: One stuck pixel, a red one on the lower-right side. I'm not as devastated as I thought I would be about it. Only visible on a paper-white screen (like the one I'm writing this on). Even then it took me three weeks to spot it. Not a big deal -- as previous HDTV owners have said, don't look too hard and you won't find em. Still, for this kind of moeny you tend to expect perfection. Deep blacks and night scenes in TV shows could be better, but blacks on Web pages are very black, so again this may be source-dependent.

Other Thoughts: I really agonized over buying a big screen TV online (mostly over the possibility of dead pixels) but NewEgg came through again. The clincher was that this TV was hundreds cheaper than I could have gotten it locally.

Rating + 4 Newegg has the best price again

Pros: Price & Newegg prompt service

Cons: This TV is great for the price but I did a lot of reading customer reviews before I purchased and was somewhat prepared for the firmware upgrade challenge to get the latest firmware in the TV. Olevia web site to me was very confusing on how to upgrade the firmware to the menu system in the TV. I got it done but it took me about 4 hours over two days before I got the TV updated. Just be VERY careful to get the right model selected, the latest firmware and remember the TV menu system is set back to "Show Room Mode" at the end of a flash upgrade.

Other Thoughts: I figure I saved over $800 on this TV considering there was a instant discount of $300, email discount code of $200 and FREE three day business UPS shipping.

Rating + 5 Excellent Under-rated LCD TV

Pros: Excellent display, light weight, good overall sound, extensive pull down adjustment menu's, good manual on CD, fully lighted remote.

Cons: Just takes about 3 seconds to advance channels using the remote.

Other Thoughts: I own 2 Dell LCD TV's (a 26" and a 32") and this unit matches and even exceeds both of those. The display is tack sharp on digital reception and will stun you on HD and DVD's using component or HDMI connection. There are ample video adjustments for any type of environment. I even hooked it up to straight coaxial standard tv and it was good. Ample connections are on back (including HDMI and 2 sets of full audio and video component connections) with an above average sound syatem on it. You might want to connect a seperate subwoofer to it if this will be your main show tv. This unit suprisingly gives off almost no heat even after hours of use (my Dells are about to detonate in the same time frame). The remote is nice, extensive, and fully lighted. Olevia is made by Syntax and is a quality product. If you have looked at these for awhile - get one, as you wont be let down.

Rating + 5 Good Performance without Breaking the Bank

Pros: Reasonably priced, good quality of picture, sound acceptable, doesnt break the bank to purchase it, Performs as well as some of the "S" named japanese brands.

Cons: Shipping container is not well insulated, seems okay at the top and bottom, but weak on the sides. Mine arrive in good condition, but either Olevia needs to beef up the packaging or NewEgg needs to put it in an outer shipping container.

Other Thoughts: Bought this as a present for my parents, wanted to be home to flash the firmware and get it set up for them. When flashing firmware, check under Windows Device Manager (Ports Section) to see which COMM port windows has assigned, before using Olevia's software to perform the update. Went well for me, but some folks report problems. If you dont have a USB A to B cable you'll need one to plug into the LCD.

Rating + 5 As good as any lcd tv.

Pros: I have 2 Japanese hdtv's and this one is as good, but costs about 50% less. Sharp hdtv and not too bad sdtv. No problems with shipping or dead pixels. Auto channel search found about 50 more usable channels than before with several either hdtv or dtv. For the price you can't beat this one.

Cons: Weakly organized menuing system that will confuse many people. The firmware update is complex in that a virtual comport must be installed on the pc for it to work. This conflicted with another virtual comport on my laptop and I spent about an hour troubleshooting this. Documentation is weak and only available as a PDF on disk. Best have a laptop available during setup.

Other Thoughts: I am a software developer so a lot of this stuff wasn't the horror show it might have been. If you feel uncomfortable troubleshooting electronics, you might be better off spending more for a simpler product. This one, however, is a fantastic price performer for people with knowhow.

Pros: Very nice TV for the price. Looked at Toshiba and Samsung prior to deciding on Olevia. Did some research to find that this LCD screen is made by LG, and is the same screen that is used in many higher-end units. This unit is also 1080i ready but it is not stated in any of the advertising.

Cons: Poorly packaged. Shipped in original carton with no additional protection. Sides, top and bottom of box all broken by UPS. First TV had base plate broken.

Other Thoughts: Newegg was very fast to replace broken unit. Second TV delivered by UPS was not damaged, but box was in worse shape than the first.

Pros: I am not a TV expert, however, Olevia has been a very reliable brand and I have had good experience with their TVs for over 2-3 years. Once again, for the price you pay, this TV worth every penny you pay for. I specifically use it to play PS3 and with HDMI connection, I am 100% satisfied.

Cons: none yet.

Pros: This is a beautiful TV! It has amazing picutre quality. To me it is the most economical choice even though it doesnt have 1080p. The universial remote is really nice as well. Got this one on a sale for xxx shipped!

Cons: The base stand was completely busted once I unpacked it from the box. The shipper (UPS) was the one who busted it up! NewEgg shipped it fast as usual. Now I must deal with the Olevias' on site warranty to have it fixed.

Other Thoughts: If you are planning on buying a LCD HDTV this is a great choice! Watch the sales, and you can pick this one up cheap compared to the others out there.

Pros: Excellent HD picutre quality. Lots of input options, including HDMI. Built in HD tuner. Low price.

Cons: No DVI input. Not 1080P. Stupid bright blue LED WHEN UNIT IS OFF??

Other Thoughts: This is a hint, if you hook this up to your PC via VGA, make sure you have an SVGA cable and NOT VGA. The VGA cable will not give you wide screen resolution option (ie 1360x786).

Pros: Great picture out of the box and great price, thanks Newegg.
Box integrity must be better no problems with shipping and arrived in great shape.

Cons: OSD menu takes alittle getting used to. Avoid doing the firmware updates if you can. Did mine and it failed and also killed th TV. Now I have to wait on a new one from the factory. In speaking with the tech support they have had the same problem with some of ther units and are not recommending that you do the firmware updates at this time. Wait for a better update program to be released and try then.

Other Thoughts: As always Newegg is great.

Rating + 5 Bargain Beauty

Pros: The 537H has a reasonable picture out of the box, and a superior picture after tweaking its settings with the help of an Avia DVD. The "plain black wrapper" approach serves to highlight the superior picture; one that is far better than the two CRT-based HD monitors in my home (one direct-view, one projection). Though I use a receiver for audio, a quick check of the set's sound reveals that it's passable. Packaging is comparable to that of a high-end DLP set that I purchased and returned due to unacceptable picture quality. UPS delivered the unit in perfect condition - no dead pixels. Newegg shipped the day of order and I received the set 2 business-days later. They ROCK!

Cons: The menu system is confusing at first, but is easier to operate with practice. The "hidden" power switch on the back of set should be referenced in the quick-start diagram and manual. The manual should be printed, rather than supplied on a CD. The blue "standby" light is very bright (soon to be covered with electrical tape).

Other Thoughts: A firmware upgrade is recommended as soon as possible. The Olevia website is VERY slow. Have patience (you'll need it). When upgrading firmware, use device manager on your computer to check which COM port the upgrade driver is using. Select that port when the program offers the option. (I had communication errors and then managed to make my set completely inoperable by not following that recommendation.) Tech support took 30 minutes to answer, but walked me through reflashing the firmware and reviving the set with the most up-to-date version. They are very good, once you get through.
In summary: this is an outstanding value for those who have the desire and ability to tweak all of the unit's settings. Those who unbox and then use the set as is may be disappointed. The Olevia 537H is indeed a Bargain Beauty.

Rating + 4 Nice 37" tv

Pros: picture quality, price

Cons: firmware, PIP, CD Manual, power on delay

Other Thoughts: Picture quality is impressive. OTA 1080i HD is stunning. PBS (720p) wasn't always as sharp, so I hooked up a PC (VGA) to view some HD video samples. Got great results - also with HalfLife, Call of Duty, etc.
However, I could only gave it 4 eggs. The firmware appears 'rough.' Even after updating. Set the date and the day-of-week is wrong! The rotating menu gui is unique, also hard to use. And the icons don't roll correctly. Haven't figured out PIP. Might be because the manual is on CD. The built in up-scaling is fair-good, depending on source quality. Some VHS, DVD, and SAT look good , other show pixelation and blockyness. I haven't calibrated the set yet. It had some red-push that 'IDEA' fixed nicely. 'Big Picture' was a suprise in my own side-by-side comparison. Despite the negatives, I'm quite pleased.

Rating + 5 Olevia 537H

Pros: This TV is amazing in picture quality! DVD playback with a upconverting DVD player is also amazingly clear.

Cons: Remote sucks, can control DTV Tivo with the Olevia remote, but havent found a code for the Tivo remote yet. The Olevia remote is kind of big/clunky, where tivo is smaller and easier to handle.

Other Thoughts: I am a DirecTV customer, but dont subscribe to thier HD. I am using a TERK indoor over the air antenna with great results. All my local HD stations coming in strong in 1080i 25 miles from center city St Louis. Picture from DTV is still only mediocre, picture from recorded shows on Tivo is better. OTA HD is the way to watch TV, you'll never go back to SD quality TV.

Pros: Tried only with Broadcast HD local channels and with analog Dish Network.
-The atsc tuner works good, with my old indoor TV antenna.
-Superb HD images
-The 1-year on-site warranty from Olevia on the 537H is a peace of mind.
-(For the moment) Quality/Price ratio is EXCELLENT.

Cons: -It's annoying that to change from source to source you need to go through all of them.
-I don't seem to be able to program the universal remote for Dish network.
-Although the TV does seem to do a decent job with SD signals, some of the Dish Network channels do not look very good, although their image quality was never good to begin with.

Other Thoughts: Got it in three business days from newegg.com as promised. The packing of the tv is not very good (protection is miserable), although the tv arrived without a glitch.
For the moment I am well satisfied.

Pros: i put in average understanding as this is my 1st lcd tv but i am an IT tech and have owned worked on and purchased over 300 lcd monitors for myself and my customers. all i can say is this tv is awsome! no dead pixels! the picture quality is amazing for this kind of price. i did my research before i bought and came to find out that this a high end LG screen in a cheaper container with a lil less bells and whistles. I am so happy with this tv that i am buying another when income taxes come in....and i mean it. also you will not find a better price than right here at newegg!!! if you looking and seriously want something that will awe you with a quality picture, this is the one you need to purchase! also this set supports 1080i so dont let the specs fool you!

Cons: that the specs dont show that it supports 1080i when it does.

Other Thoughts: sound is great and the remote is easy to use and feels good in your hand, why wait another minute, pick this set up now before they run out again!

Rating + 5 I don't want to leave my couch!

Pros: I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. I am currently using this LCD as a multimedia center in my living room.
I have my cable (coax) hooked up, and it looks pretty good using the built in NTSC tuner.
Also have an x10 security camera hooked up through composite (red, yellow, white) which looks very nice.
Next is a satellite receiver using composite also (red, yellow, white) that looks great.
Last is my PC (and favorite) connected to the VGA port which I couldn’t be happier with.
It is XP, Athlon 3700+, 1 GB Memory, ATI All-In-Wonder 9600, 5.1 Surround Sound. I use it to play my DVD Movies, Surf the Internet (text is excellent), and Play Half-Life mods and Battlefield 2, which is very sweet!

I had a question about the onscreen controls which confused me. I called their tech support and got right through and they were very helpful! A big A plus!

Cons: My remote works fine, lights up nice. No complaints there.
Speakers are fine also, use them with the TV tuner.
So, I don’t see any!

Other Thoughts: UPS did a fine job delivering, no damage. NewEgg got it here fast!

Rating + 5 Remarkable buy

Pros: After returning several model to local retailers, I decided to try out the olevia. What a pleasant suprise. Right out the box the picture was amazing, and superb after a little tweaking.

Another bonus, the tv picks up OTA HD stations, 30 to be exact and that without any antenna...and station about 25 miles out.

Cons: The only issue I have had so far is when connecting my Xbox 360 via vga, it stays in 4:3 for som reason, I used the 1:1 and it still wouldnt go widescreen. I believe the issue may be my cables. I used component instead, and havent looked back.

Other Thoughts: I chose the 3 day shipping, and from their west coast bulk wharehouse to my east coast front door in 2 days, amazing delivery as always. Newegg is the best

Rating + 4 Not bad

Pros: I give it a 4.5
Good picture, inexpensive. HD broadcasts OTA and via QAM are amazing compared to SDTV. I'd dump cable if my wife would let me.

Cons: Shipping box not very protective.
Cannot type in 4-digit channels (3-digit limit) My unencrypted QAM stations from TWC are 15XX, so I have to punch in the highest station I get (98) then scroll to them using up/down.
15s to turn on.
Doesn't turn on to the same channel it was previously on. PIP combination options limited.
No 1080p, but who cares? You won't be able to tell the difference and no stations broadcast more than 1080i anyway.
Blue power LED light annoying but a magic marker fixes that easily.

Other Thoughts: This is my first HDTV. Reception with $13 rabbit ears OTA is as good or better than QAM reception of the same local channels transmitted thru cable lines unencrypted to my house. I think the cable company saves badwidth by compressing QAM b/c the picture is not quite as good. Slightly digitized during fast movement. There are a few things that could be improved on, but for the money this TV cannot be beat. Buy this over the LC37D40U. QAM tuner may not be that strong. I am not sure if it is my cable provider, line drop in house, or the Tuner's ability to pick up all QAM channels.
