Maxtor DiamondMax 10 6B300S0 300GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Pros: I've had this drive running as a file dump high activity disk since late 2004 and it is still in use today. Zero smart errors, zero ata channel errors. This thing is amazing!

Cons: It runs a little hot compared to modern drives and is only 300GB

Other Thoughts: I can't believe this thing is still running. I've really abused the hell out of it over the years and yet it still continues to amaze me.

Pros: Drive is still runing strong after all these years, purchased back in 2005 so figured I may as well do a review now that its proven itself. Used as a storage drive next to his newer 2TB buddy. May have to retire this guy before it actually fails, rarity with drives nowdays.

Cons: Runs a little warm, but my case has fans on it that keep it cool.

Other Thoughts: Drive was $128 back in 2005 if anyone is curious. About the price of a 2TB drive today

Pros: No issues with this drive whatsoever. Checked the SMART status and it's healthy as can be still. I used the drive mainly for high-end gaming over the last few years.

Cons: Runs a little hotter than more modern hard drives with improved efficiency (34C compared to 28C of my newer hard drive).

Other Thoughts: Not sure this review will be very useful, but I've had a chance to test this drive for many years now.

Comments: I just installed this and another Maxtor 160GB SATA in my new build. MaxBLAST software made the configuration (JBOD) roblem-free. Very quiet in action, not like some I've had. Fast shipping, too.

Comments: bought five of these to attach to a XFX Raid card. working without problems and they're fast! can't hear them at all through my P180 case.

Comments: I have never written a review before at newegg, however after getting these drives (a day early) and the performance they give...I just had to say something. They are extremely fast, and absolutely the most quietest drives I have ever owned. I haven't any raptors to compare them to, however I can tell you I runn them as my vm web/database server and multimedia server setup in raid 1, and they perform. If you have the money, these simply do as they say. Fast and 300 (276) quiet. Very fast!

Comments: I used to use a Raptor as my boot volume. I read some reviews and thought I'd test this drive out. It is an outstanding drive. It is at least as fast as the Raptor and in many cases, faster - even on unchached reads and writes. Now I don't have to sacrifice storage room for speed.

Comments: ...I'm not sure about this drive, it's a bit noisy compared to the WX drive it was going to replace. The grinding sound it makes when accessing/writing is getting on my nerves. I think I'll stick with my WX. =)
