Big Case
- Pros: Moved a ASUS Crosshair MB with 6000+ processor from a 4U to 5U case, real big case. The ATX motherboard fit just perfect. Everything was laid out just like a regular case just 1U higher. Bought a new audio/video bench which this fit perfectly into. Extra cooling fans was a plus. Front grill fan to cool hard drives is a plus.
- Cons: The front panel door is designed to low toward the bottom of the case, won't open completely if a rack mount. No front grill air filter, here in Arizona it's a must.
- Other Thoughts: Price was what helped the purchase, good description from newegg also helped.
Do not get the motherboard-chassis combo.
- Pros: No way to know, it didn't work.
- Cons: The combo that includes the ASUS DSBV-DX Dual 771 Intel 5000V SSI CEB 1.1 Server Motherboard doesn't work. The processor fan and heatsink don't screw into the motherboard, but into standoffs fastened directly into the backplane. This chassis backplane does not have those standoffs, so it is impossible for the combo to work.
- Other Thoughts: I'm sure that if I were to get a motherboard that worked in the chassis it would be fine, as things stand however, it is incompatible.
Eggcellent
- Pros: Outstandingly robust and sturdy case, a gross amount of expandability, attractive design, accepts u-ATX, ATX, E-ATX, and CEB formfactor boards, accepts ATX and 4U style power supplies.
- Cons: You need to determine an alternate cooling solution if you're filling it up with hard drives.
- Other Thoughts: My personal use for this item is to house 14 hard drives, a server board, and 1200 watt psu. In order to fit 14 drives, I utilized the newEgg '2 5.25 bays to 3 3.5 bays' drive adapter, which has a built in provision for an 80 mm fan -- so now I've got 4 ea 80 mm fans up front. Does the job nicely.
