Good value
- Pros: The front panel ports are easy to access. They do not have a cover over them that you have to lift, which I like. Also, the front ports are below the removable drives so cables don't get in the way. There is lots of ventilation, making it easy to set up for quiet operation. Front fan blows nicely over hard drives. Quick release latches work great. Some screws have grips so you can work them without a screwdriver. Rubber grommets are included for the drive cage to dampen vibration. There is a screen on the front fan to catch dust. It can be removed if you don't like it.
- Cons: The thing that bothers me the most is how difficult it is to remove the front cover without breaking it. The instructions do not say how to do it. I ended up breaking one of the plastic hooks on the top of the front cover. Also, you have to pull down as you rotate it out, which makes it hard to remove the cover if you have a drive in the top bay. In fact, I broke the faceplate off my CD-ROM drive and the tray got pulled out so I had to take the drive apart to fix it. The quality of the construction may vary. Most of the case is very nicely made. However, my left side cover is not quite square. The top front corner of the left side cover is perfect but the bottom corner is about 1/8 inch short.
- Other Thoughts: Very nice look. It has flaws but it is priced nicely (or at least it was when I bought it).
Impressed. Better quality than I thought at this price.
- Pros: Was impressed for a case at this price. Used this to build a host for my aunt and will get it again when I later build a new one for myself. Both side panels come off making it easy to work with drive cages. Lower 3-1/2" drive cage has grommets and standoff screws to provide noise insulation for hard drives. Good set of hardware (standoffs, several sets of screws). Was surprised the 120mm rear fan was actually quiet (compared to many included fans). Includes front intake filter. Will have to see how fast it clogs in my dusty house with cats fur. Wow, 4 USB ports instead of the typical 2 (and I got a mobo that had 6 internal USB so 4 used by this front panel and 2 for card reader). Also like these ports are UNDER the external drives bays: dangling cables aren't in way of optical drive trays when ejected. USB ports on the side are sometimes blocked or leave device susceptible to damage when desk items are moved around. Lower 3.5" cage is easily removed for drive access
- Cons: Front filter requires popping off the faceplate (the whole thing). More of a problem of getting it back on to reassemble. Reset button certainly can't be accidentally pushed: requires pushing in quite a ways to close the switch. Cage for 3.5 external bays (floppy, card reader) is too deep so backside of these drives is a ways into the cage, but might've been necessarily to provide support for lower 3.5" internal cage. If you don't want fingers prying inside through the card slot, get rid of the slide-out blanks and replace with ones that are scr3wed down. Seems the case was spray-painted (can see some overspray inside) instead of being dipped so I'm not sure about the durability of the finish. This case requires the use of custom rails attached to drives for the top 5.25" ext bays. If you lose them, you won't be able to mount drives in those bays. Wire tie the extras inside the case against the cage so they don't get lost in someone's desk or at home in a drawer.
- Other Thoughts: Unlike other reviewer, would've preferred black panels but the white/beige frontplate and inserts to match with my biege drives migrated from my old host. EMF shields over 5" bays would be better as 1-piece that you twist out instead of 2 pieces (because it tends to damage next bay's shield unless you're careful). Would've preferred a flatter side panel instead of the bulge of quick latches (that I don't want) and the CPU intake port. The unused area above the card slots seems a waste. Should've added punchouts for connectors. They really need to better doc how to remove the frontplate to ensure users don't break it trying to discover how to remove it. Needs about another 1/2" in depth to ensure hard drives in the lower cage can fit behind a full-length hi-perf video card). At least 1 spot is unusable in my setup where a drive cannot be mounted due to the long video card. No, it isn't the best case I've had but then the others didn't cost just 40 bucks.
Looks very familiar
- Pros: good value for the money, I have one in black---from rosewill.
- Cons: None -looks better in black
- Other Thoughts: This was originally a rosewill case, I have one.
