A Great Case, But...
- Comments: The construction quality, looks and design of this case are excellent. However, I have one big gripe: The tool-less drive bays can't hold the drives in place!
I first discovered this when I had to manually eject a CD from my Plextor optical drive. The force needed to push the manual eject button in that little pin-hole on the front is greater than what their tool-less mounting hardware can handle. The drive popped right out of the bay before I could eject the CD. I had to open my case and hold the back of the drive with my hand to eject the CD. This is true for both of my drives. Fortunately, I rarely have to manually eject a disc.
I also discovered that when transporting my computer in the trunk of my car, the optical drives and my floppy / Zip disc drives like to pop loose. I have to tape the drives down whenever I transport this system. No, I don’t drive like a maniac—especially with an expensive computer in the back.
And yes, I made sure the sheet metal teeth were into the holes on the side of the drives and that the lever was moved all the way into the locked position.
If Chenbro would replace the tool-less bays with screws then it would truly be a five-star case. As it stands now I would never buy another one of these Gaming Bomb II cases again.
Incredible quality, looks great
- Comments: This is a wonderful case. All aluminum and easy to work in. The cable management feature allowed me to tidy up my case, it looks incredible! Highly recommended.
An Apple G5 can envy this...
- Comments: Built a PC about a week ago for work:
AMD 3500+ Winchester Zalman CNPS7000b-Cu MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum ATI X600 XL 2x Seagate 250GB SATAs Plextor PX-716A and Sony DVD-ROM Enermax 420w
Looked at several cases, but the design, looks, and functionality weren't up to par. Found this case and thought "MUST GET!!" I do not regret spending a premium to get this premium case.
The 2x 120MM fans keep the interior cool. There is an extra space up at the top of the case for a 92mm fan if needed. Max heat from my observations has only been 35C. The fans were slightly noisy, so I put in some Zalman Fanmate IIs and turned them down all the way. I can only hear the heatsink now =).
Removable motherboard tray and some tooless features helped put the machine together with ease. The hard drive cage is very easy to access as it pulls out of the case towards the side panel. Normally, I would have to pull out the cage towards the mobo and take out the graphics card in order to get it out all the way.
Minor complaints: Price, noise of fans, some external items such as a 6-in-1 card reader in the 2.5" slot doesn't seem to lock in with the tooless screws, and I wish they sold a non-clear side panel version. It's nice, but not necessary for me.
Newegg got it out the door within a day of ordering, and FedEx managed to get it here within 3 days.
