Examine the Chakra case from Enermax with your third eye and you’ll see that it’s the case for you. It comes with plenty of features to keep your computer working in harmonious balance. Its solid black design exemplifies solidity and stability. But it’s what’s on the inside that matters. The reversible 250mm fan on the side panel keeps everything inside cool. If you find it necessary to add additional fans there are mounting holes on the front and back that support 80/90/120mm fans.
The front panel has five external 5.25” drive bays and one external 3.5” bay. The top two bays have drop down covers for your optical drives so you don’t have to worry about matching colors. On the top of the front panel are the power and reset buttons, two USB ports, audio ports and an eSATA port. Top mounting makes access easier, especially if you have the case on the floor by your desk.
Tool free mounting rails and a removable hard drive cage make setting up your system a pleasant process. The expansion slots have pop out covers and instead of screws they have retention clips for fast secure mounting of video cards and other add ones.

Second Time
- Pros: Second build with this case. Very solid case, screwless bays work very well for the type.
250mm fan moves a lot of air and is SILENT, I mean SILENT.
- Cons: Front gate that covers the optical drive(s) can be tricky to get to work right. Once the drive is installed, put the front cover back on and slide it back and forth till it just BARELY makes contact with the faceplate switch. If it's too tight, it will jam, too loose it will sometimes not reach the button on the optical. Once in place, install one screw in both sides tight but not full tight and make sure it stayed in position. Sometimes it's just plastic-on-plastic friction, that can be fixed with a dab of mineral oil.
Only other thought - the tool-less expansion slots, just be careful. Don't force it. They can break easy. If you do break it, there is still holes for screws.
- Other Thoughts: Very nice finish case, great airflow with the mesh front panel.
BUY TWO 120mm FANS! The case only comes with the 1 250mm fan. Buy two, install one in the rear and one up front. Also, remove the second drive cage. Install your hard drive / floppy in the upper drive cage, and leave the bottom one out for better air flow and less resistance.
Very nice
- Pros: Very nice case..the fan on the side is large but not loud. The case is sturdy and well made.
- Cons: The front ports require alot of connections, I don't know why the audio connections are all seperate wires instead of being bundled together.
- Other Thoughts: Well worth the money compared to other cases. For the price, you get a lot of room, good cooling, nice looks. Fits 2 8800 GTs without a problem. Also has nice tooless design for the hard drive and for the dvd drive. PS. Take out the HD Cage first to install a front intake fan.

You'll keep this case longer than the parts you put in it
- Pros: Large, well-built, well-designed case. Good tool-less design for HDDs and expansion bays, plus the option to use screws if you would rather. Removable HDD cage so you can easily install a full-size 120mm fan in the front. (I used this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999346) Room for a full-size 120mm fan in the rear (I used the non-PWM version of http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186024 ). The 250mm side fan moves lots of air very quietly, providing great video cooling. Tons of room inside to put anything you want, and mesh filters pre-installed on the front panel to cut down on dust and lint buildup. Nice long power cable on the 250mm, even if it is a molex plug.
- Cons: Tool-less PCI slot clips are pretty bad. Flip-top panel cover can break easily if you're not careful. Front panel connectors are not grouped together, but this is a non-issue if your mobo has something like ASUS's EZ-connect. The 250mm can let in tons of dust in lint in some environments, even when switched to exhaust. You WANT to put a filter on that vent.
- Other Thoughts: I've used four of these cases now, two for myself and two for other folks. I was pleasantly surprised that they come with some cable management hardware. I'm not sure why people are having problems with the optical covers; I've had zero issue with them on any of my cases.
Enermax has great case design and solid manufacturing. If they can bring their bells and whistles up to the same standard (PWM fans, good tool-less clips, etc.) they'll be able to compete with the big names in cases. I'd love to see an Enermax case with a focus on thermal and noise reduction.
Pretty nice case
- Pros: Nice looking case. The big side fan is quiet but moves a lot of air. It's very roomy
- Cons: There weren't enough stand-offs to accomidate my Intel DP35DP motherboard so I couldn't put all the screws into the board (3 stand-offs short). The side rails for the hard drives didn't fit perfectly so I couldn't use them all. DVD drive button is touchy. At first, it didn't work at all! But as others said, you MUST be careful installing you CD/DVD drives. If the drive is too far forward, the button will be pushed in (making your drive door not open... as what happened to me). Just have to play with the positioning to get it just right, but works well after that.
- Other Thoughts: I hadn't had any issues with the front
Cheap plastic brings this case down
- Pros: Although I haven't built 100s of systems like some may have, I've seen a few cases new and old and this one is a decent design, however..
- Cons: There were a few tabs and posts broken upon receiving the shipment. After I got a replacement front panel from Enermax (they were faster than Newegg CS) I realized some of them were from the top piece where all the ports are, and needless to say having that whole piece loose and moving around is not very good. I would have rather had the cracked front panel rather than the top piece with the power and reset buttons as well as all the ports. Personally if feels more like 2 1/2 eggs, not recommended.
- Other Thoughts: Must be why there was a deal with rebate. Frankly I'm disappointed in the worksmanship of this case. Maybe if they used better plastic, or just designed it so the tabs and posts were stronger somehow.. Don't even feel like building anymore and it's going to be a hassel trying to glue some pieces back on to make the ports stay.
