Clean modern lines and ultra-modern performance combine with affordability and toughness. Antec's SLK 3000-B is a superb tower. Housing four 5.25" and two 3.5" external drive bays, it keeps its clean looks by protecting and concealing your drives. It hasn't forgotten the internal hard drives that are so necessary today, leaving space for five 3.5" internal drives. To make the installation simple. Antec has also made the hard drive cage removable. Both sidewalls are also removable, to give you lots of room to work.
This case makes cooling a literal breeze. It has a 120mm fan located in the rear of the case and a side air duct for your CPU. The SLK 3000-B supports ATX Motherboards 12" x 9.6" or smaller, with 7 PCI expansion slots in the rear. The case is backed with the toughness of steel to make sure that your perfect system is protected through all of life’s little accidents.

- Cons: With a full-size motherboard, several hard drives, and an exceptionally long video card, this case can begin to feel cramped.
No front audio or firewire connections
Door is pretty flimsy, and a real pain if your computer sits to your right. Luckily it is easy to remove.
Reset button is very difficult for an adult to press.
Metal drive rails may not accomodate the holes in all drive bay devices (fan controllers, etc).
CPU duct may not be centered with all motherboards.
CPU duct will need to be removed to accomodate tall heatpipe coolers.

- Other Thoughts: I like this case so much, I bought another one for my wife. It's that classic Antec design, without the annoyances found in some of their other lines. The silencing features of this case make it the perfect choice for an introduction to that style of computer assembly. I can't see myself buying any other case.
Very nice, especially for it's cost.
- Pros: Good spacious design. Lends well to wire placement. It's convenient to add and remove things and faster too. It doesn't come with a PSU, so you can choose your own without wasting extra money for a cheap PSU that will just end up gathering dust in an attic. Harddrives are placed seperate at the bottom in front of an optional 120mm fan to keep them cool -- you won't need HD coolers probably. It comes with one rear 120mm fan which has three speed settings and is still quieter than my CPU cooler when I set it on medium (that's with the CPU cooler on low.)
- Cons: Can't think of anything right off hand.
- Other Thoughts: This is a very well designed case. I found that I was actually able to arrange things like wires better in it than in my more spacious (or should be) full tower. I didn't even have round harddrive cables, yet even in a hot house it kept chasis temperatures nice and cool.
I've worked with Lxxn Lx's before, and I'd say this is pretty well up there with their sort of quality, only at least half the price of an equivalent Lxxn Lx.

Nice case for builds
- Pros: Other than the weak door and having to remove the front cover to clean the air filter, this is a great case.
Great design in a TAC case.
- Cons: Weak door, have to remove front cover to clean the air filter.
- Other Thoughts: I've made several builds with this case (P4d's and C2d's. Add a Vantec 120mm stealth or Nexus 120mm front fan and the C2D's builds run around 38c with the Intel stock cooler. Adjust the airguide to about 1/4" from the CPU fan.
"Tech" who reviewed case on 2/6/2007 is misguided about the I/O shield. You remove the I/O shield that comes installed in the case and use the I/O shield that comes with your board. No problem.
great case
- Pros: Lots of space. Very quiet - comes with rubber mounts for hard disks, I can barely hear my twin Raptors.
- Cons: As others have noted, comes with no documentation and the door is pretty flimsy. I have several of the server cases that are the big brother of this case, they are very similar but have a better door design, not sure why Antec cheaped-out this model.
Nice case, kind of cheap looking
- Pros: Great cooling, installed a 120MM fan in the front, removed the plastic holder and dremeled out the grill in the front for peace and quiet.. Plenty of room, keeps my hard drives at 28C and my fanless LEADTEK WinFast PX7600GS at 40C-43C
- Cons: plastic door on the front won't stay open..plastic feet on the bottom fall off immediately.
- Other Thoughts: wish my motherboard had individual hard drive activity connectors for the three leds on the front.
