awsome case
- Pros: excellent case, as said the front fan blows right onto the hard drive bays. like the side door locks. all alluminum and still very sturdy.
- Cons: the only real con is the annoying blue power button light. if you go with thermaltakes maxorb cpu fan/heatsink, be aware that your going to have to remove the rear exhaust fan, no room for the two of them, still ran case temp at 35c and system ran at 41-47c without the exhaust fan. i am installing a side case fan for more cooling on the twin graphics cards. and you need to use a 90mm fan for the side case door.
- Other Thoughts: this is a good looking case with plenty of room. my system is. core 2 duo 3.0 antec quatro 850psu, twin evga 8600 512s, sound blaster x/fi extreme gammer card western digital 320gb hard drive, asus p5n32e mobo and a sony 18x dvd/rw drive, and use corsair xms2 4gig memory with the heat speaders, with still room for the pyshics card on order. i recommend the side case door fan for extreme gammers.
Great Case NOT 8800GTX Friendly
- Pros: Awesome Case Keeps Everything Cool with the 2 Huge Fans. Love the look, one of the fans blow right on the hard drives.
- Cons: I bought a EVGA 8800GTX GPU and it will not fit due to the HDD bays had to cut the metal to fit. also bought a 1000w PS (Ultra X3) it will install only if the top panel with the Front audio and usb Jacks are removed
Best case I've ever owned
- Pros: Excellent fit and finish, all aluminum except for a few plastic parts, easy-access side panel with the latches and over-side window for viewing. The numerous front drive bays including a fifth 5.25" at the bottom is a handy setup, and the modular power button/LED cage which also can be used to house a 3.5" device (either internal or external) is a great fit for my fan controller. Tool-less install for the 5.25" devices and easy access to the front of the case without any tools or feats of strength; simply open the door to access the fan and filters in front for cleaning, along with dropping in your new hardware or swapping them out. All mesh front end for great airflow and handy USB/FireWire/audio ports on top under a cover for a sleek finish. If you choose to forfit the regular 4-bay 3.5" HDD cage for the sake of mounting a Raptor X HDD, you can buy an optional side-mount bracket and even use the vertical 5.25" drive bay to mount that drive.
- Cons: Finding silver optical/floppy drives and other drive bay devices is a pain. Paid a premium for them including $15 for a floppy just so they'd all match but it's worth it for the looks. The blue power LED can be a bit bright so be warned. The HDD cage is NOT tool-less however it does use innovative rubber grommets with the screws to minimize vibration/noise and removing the cage is just one screw but it's a snug fit. The cage is rather close to the window but you can squeeze any SATA data cables in without any fuss - power is another matter but I use an Ultra X-Finity PSU with FlexForce cables which have no problem fitting. The 3.5" bay inside the modular power button/LED drive cage does not include enough tracks to attach four screws for a shallow device such as a fan controller that isn't a full-depth device (Sunbeam 3.5" controller) so it allows for play but this seems typical in a lot of cases and I plan to replace it with another controller.
- Other Thoughts: I didn't purchase this case from NewEgg as I admittedly found it slightly cheaper elsewhere - by far this is the best case I've ever owned and my second ThermalTake. The front "wings" grow on you and add some flair to the case and if you sit at an angle from your case they can deflect stray light from your front LED's in the dark and make nighttime gaming/moview viewing easier on the eyes. The front "blank" panels require removing screws to take them out, but it makes them sturdy, and the chassis blanks are reusable in the front and rear so no permanent holes are left if you decide to remove a device. The top I/O ports can make longer PSU's a bit tricky to fit in initially but it's doable. The fans are screw-mounted so no quick changes with those either; only the 5.25" and expansion slots are toolless.
