Based on Intel's Chassis Air Design Guide, Aspire's Apevia X-Cruiser Black computer case works with any Standard ATX, Baby AT and Micro ATX motherboard, and is designed to promote cool, quiet operation. The presence of ten (four 5.25" external, two 3.5" external, and four 3.5" internal) drive bays and seven expansion slots ensure you have enough room for any arrangement of drives you might need. The built-in air duct on the side panel funnels cool air toward the processor, and two 80mm built-in Blue UV Sensitive LED fans help move dangerous hot air out of the case.

The front panel of the X-Cruiser features two USB ports, one audio and one FireWire port, for instant connectivity and convenient use. The front panel also houses three unique gauges/controllers, the Temperature Gauge, Front Volume Gauge and Volume Controller, and one Front Fan Gauge with Fan Controller (which can controls up to 5 fans). The front panel also houses two "arcs" at the sides, which along with the dials are back-illuminated by blue LEDs.

With the X-Cruiser you will be able to catch all the action live and "blue", through the large clear side panel and blue LED illumination all over. This case can hold maybe more power than you can handle -- step up to the challenge!

  • newegg Large See-through Side Window Panel The APEVIA (ASPIRE) X-CRUISER-BK's large see-through side window panel provides a direct view of the system's components and the brilliant interior lighting delivers maximum visual impact.
  • newegg Maximum Control The APEVIA (ASPIRE) X-CRUISER-BK features a front temperature gauge, a fan-speed gauge and controller as well as a volume sensitivity gauge and controller for excellent functionality and a brilliant appearance.

3 out of 5 eggsLasted me a while!

Pros: Interior space is good, panels are easy to remove. Served it's purpose.

Cons: Front audio ports have never worked. Also, front ports on bottom of machine, instead of top. Wish all fans could upgrade to 120mm, but only the rear one can. Don't really like top-mount power supply.

Other Thoughts: I've owned this since my first PC build in December 2007. It's lasted through 2 upgrades of various parts, and 4 moves. The body of the case is pretty solid and can take a bump. The fans only recently died, like within the last month, so I'd say it's been a pretty decent case. Hate that the audio ports in front never worked, would rather use those for my headset. Looking at buying new now for a pending upgrade.

3 out of 5 eggsStrange

Pros: I enjoyed the overall design because it looks great at night if you add LED lit fans and stuff. The vent shaft on the wide panel leading to the processor is pretty nifty. Grounding was and is not an issue. I however felt the case was not entirely thick but it has served well enough with several moves from house to house. I really enjoyed most of the time spent with this case.

Cons: Sadly I do have a few. I have had this case and computer for about 3 and half years now and it is time to upgrade. As for this case, when I first got it, all the screws that were supposed to connect the MoBo to the case were the wrong size and they could not even penetrate the pre-drilled screw holes on the case. I thought that was strange. As with other reviews, the power button snapped on my second time ever turned it on; that was lame. Now almost 4 years in and the front LED lights in the plastic things on both sides of the Gauges don't light up anymore. The case itself was also rather small and difficult to work with.

Other Thoughts: I hope this review helps someone out there. It is not as bad as some of the other reviewers have posted but it seems those people are posting emotions and not straight facts.

4 out of 5 eggsLooks Nice to the eye

Pros: 4 5.25 external bays. 2 3.25 external bays.
The case now holds my DVD writer, BR writer, one hot swap HDD, one docking station.
750W PSU
6 fans
Added a 140mm rear fan and two 120mm front fans. Plus a left side fan. CPU and GPU run cool and the fans help with more air flow.

Cons: DOOR and it's gauages. Worthless! All thought it's eye catching. You have to open the door to turn on the power and for the DVD trays to open. Also the door opens to the left. It got to the point that I took the door off. One other thing I don't like is the side mounted USB ports. If you have the computer mounted on a desk, it has to be on the left side. This allows the door to open to the left and lets you use the side mounted USB ports on the right side of the case. It would have been a lot better if the case came without the door and the USB ports were on top or high up on the front. This was my first build. And I took a chance with this case. And at this point the case is too new to replace. One last item. The power cords take up a lot of room making it hard to install or remove parts. I have a modular PS and the cables do come in contact with the top fan and CPU fan. Also if you are going to add two front fans make sure you add them before you install anything.

Other Thoughts: Over all it's a good case for the price. If it wasn't for the door and right side USB ports this would have been a 5 egger. Apevia does make a solid case. Just don't let your eye's do the shopping. With all the blue lights it's eye catching. Plus this case does allow you to plan for the future. Meaning all of the open bays that you can use.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: - Decent amount of space
- Runs moderately quiet
- Plenty of room for what you need from a mid tower

Cons: - The front gauges and lights have stopped working
- The front sound ports have stopped functioning
- The front usb ports started to cause shortages

Other Thoughts: While looking at the cons and the pro's remember that I have had this case for close to 3 years now. When I got it, it was in perfect condition. Only in the past 3 weeks have those con's happened. It is a very solid case and I would buy it again without question if I decided to go with a smaller system for my kid. You can't go wrong with this case

5 out of 5 eggsPretty sick case!!!

Pros: Having the temp and fan speed monitors on the front are great and they look fantastic! I absolutely love the fact that it has a reset button, and the clear side. Multiple fans is a plus and provides excellent air flow, even with just the 2 it comes with. Case is very solid once everything is put together.

Cons: None so far, I love it!

Other Thoughts: I purchased this for my first build. As someone else stated having the power button on the side might be beneficial, but it's not a big deal. Some may say it seems flimsy, but it's not at all. Keep in mind it's mostly metal and not hard plastic like my previous HP case was. It also weighs about 2 lbs less, but is slightly bigger. Over all it's a fantasic case and has a great look to it. I've had a lot of compliments.

The only problem I had was that I had to remove the side vent/filter to fit my upgraded heatsink onto to Phenom X4 processor. I plan to put the filter back on without plastic piece, but I need to take the screws with me to get some lug nuts to hold it in place, then it will be complete. This was no big deal, and not hard to remove at all.

4 out of 5 eggsPrice/features/Performance A++++

Pros: Still a decient cool looking shiny, very sturdy case after 3 years of use. Excilent air flow if you take advantage of the extra fan mount locations. Front CPU temp guage is nice as well as fan controle at your fingertips

Cons: Temp probe broke first time I swapped out CPU fan. Only $3 to replace through Apevia. USB ports on front of case no longer work but lasted 2 1/2 years. Have to open the front door every time to turn on pc, thought it would wear on the wires for all the guages over time but all still works. Have to hold the door open all the way when getting CD's in an out due to the wiring at the bottom of door pulls it shut slightly an door catches on the CD trays if you dont.

Other Thoughts: Would love to see APEVIA revise this model relocating the power button to the side of the case by the usb ports and replace the volume sensitivity gauge with a second temp guage for GPU.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have been using this case for 2 1/2 years with no problems at all. Looks good.

Cons: Not really an issue with the case but with a 8800GTX video card installed I am unable to install one of the side panels due to the dual power cables that plug into the side of the video card.

Other Thoughts: I would certainly buy Apevia again.

3 out of 5 eggsi've come to hate this case

Pros: I've own this case for 2 years now, and it's done a hell of a job. the fan's haven't broken yet, and all of the lights still function. i would have get it a 5 a long time ago. As timed passed, I grew to hate some aspects of this case; listed in cons.

Big Pros: almost everything still works. even after 2 years

Cons: The side usb ports broke. i mean, literally; there so flimsy. they didn't break from a shortage or broken/stripped wire, they broke from being used. It's a big design flaw. the way they made the usb's are flawed in so many ways. Tacky and flimsy is the best way to sum it in words

The little usb hub they have on the side also should have went on the left side where you can see the window. i couldn't push it to my way at all since i still use the front head phone jacks. or maybe even on top.

Also, it doesn't keep noise from my cpu cooler. You can definitely hear a high end air cooler, though i've grown a custom to the noise, this case isn't quiet for what i make my computer do. Don't OC with this case.

Other Thoughts: I've grown to hate doors on cases. I can't have front intake fans. Not a con, since i knew i came with a door.. i mean it's a main and big feature. It looked nice at first when i didn't know how far i had to cool my cpu due to overclocking, but it's just an annoyance now. great case to start off with however. and as much as i burn cd's, this should be listed as a con. as a buyer i should have thought ahead in time.
