Nice Looking, but that's not enough
- Pros: This is a very well constructed case and definitely one of the better looking HTPC Media Center cases you will fine for the price. However, looks were not are enough.
- Cons: This case does not support a full size video card. I install my SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card into the first slot and it pushed against my power supply (PC Power & Cooling Silencer PPCS910 910W) and I couldn't plug in the two power connections without bending the video card.
My ASUS M4A79T Deluxe AM3 DDR3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard did fit but the inside of the case was very cramped, so a Micro/Mini-ATX would probably fit alot better.
Futhermore, my Sony Blu-ray DVD player would not line-up to fit in the slot and there were no support instructions to help with the alignment. That may be due to the fact that I was mistakenly sent an open box instead of a new one.
- Other Thoughts: I wish it would have worked out with my components, because I really like the look of this case.
Best HTPC I've used
- Pros: Beautiful design which matches typical nicer home theater components. Excellent all around appearance with black thick steel everywhere. I appreciate the only grills are on the bottom so the top and sides are kept very clean and nice looking. Front has an excellent array of ports and inputs. Definitely a high quality case which gives the impression that they really did think of everything.
- Cons: Be extra careful with components. I added a fanless ATI Radeon card and a fanless CPU cooler. Both of which are too tall and don't allow the top cover to close. I plan to contact a local sheet metal company to have a custom lid made to give me more vertical space. The extra effort is worth it because I don't want to give up this unbelievably amazing case or the fanless options I am electing for. I am also using a SSD because I want this to be as silent as possible. All my media is stored elsewhere and accessed over my local network. One other spacing issue arises in the back of the case around the card slots. Metal extends out and downward a bit farther than it does on most cases. The particular Radeon I am using has VGA, DVI, and HDMI all on the same card and the HDMI is at the top. This, being the only port I will need, is at the very top and plugging the cable in is definitely a challenge. It is not plugged in fully (due to the metal blocking the path) but it does work.
- Other Thoughts: They even include a disc drive cover so the entire front matches end to end. While the case is cramp inside and it can be a challenge to finish a build, this is truly the perfect size and easily the best case I have ever owned. the motherboard used is fanless and I have also ordered a fanless power supply. The only fans in the system are the four case fans to keep air circulating well throughout the case. Fabulous!
Nice HTPC Case
- Pros: Well built, looks good. Fairly easy to install all the components. Nice remote control and software. Quiet. The extra front ports and card reader are a plus.
- Cons: Not really a con but the layout is a little odd. No standoffs for the last row of screws for a micro atx mobo.
- Other Thoughts: Blue power LED is crazy bright. I think the box inside could have been nixed to allow the power supply to just be mounted out of the back of the machine like most cases. Large case but seem to run out of room quickly.
