Great Cable
- Pros: reliable, resilient
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: This is one tough cable. My wife coiled this one up like any old cable when we were moving, and when we got to the new place I figured there was no chance it would work, but it did. That's pretty rare for optical cabling.
- Pros: The mini-toslink adapter works well with my mini-mac, never had any problems with that part.
- Cons: The optical cable worked fine for about a month and I never touched it, but when I did move it, the next time I plugged it in the sound came through at first but then just bits and pieces and eventually nothing. I checked all the connections, tested the optical cable itself with a known to be working source, and it did not come through at all, never has since. The toslink adapter still works though, with a different optical cable.
- Other Thoughts: It was a good deal for the adapter itself, which was really all I wanted...but don't count on the cable.
wow
- Pros: Very soft and flexible jacket, protective covers for the main optical connectors are attached to the plug, so you don't lose them. Feels kinda neat, like carrying squid legs lol cause the cable just sorta flobbers around by itself unlike conventional stranded cords. Mini-toslink adapter doesn't feel as flimsy as other reviews make it out to be, but I'll be careful with it anyway. Not really a necessary 'pro', but it's packaged nicely too.
- Cons: I imagine these can get dirty really quickly if used in dusty places, as the jacket is pure white and stuff sticks to it. Toslink adapter doubles the length of the plug, which may be inconvenient if you're tight on space wherever that side is going. Naturally with fiberoptic technology, you can't bend/fold the cable like you'd be able to do with stranded copper if you have to.
- Other Thoughts: I got this mainly because it was the only one with a mini-toslink adapter (PS2 => PC audio), but I've read that you can find mini-toslinks anywhere. Either way, this was on sale at half off, and from what I can tell, worth it even if I paid full price. If only Belkin had made a smaller/right-angle mini-toslink adapter, and made the plugs out of heavyweight plastic, this would've been perfect.
