Incompatable with Intel motherboards

Pros: cheap.

Pros: Add an RS232 port to your PC without using up a PCI slot. Inexpensive!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I just bought a new DELL Dimension E520 which has no legacy ports - only USB ports. I needed to connect it to my existing DAVIS wired weather station - using a serial (RS232) connection.

I simply loaded the drivers, plugged in the cable - and used XP to reassign the port to COM2. It worked without even a reboot. Fantastic.

Pros: I installed the driver from the enclosed CD in Vista Business as administrator. Guess what...it works. The port is now listed as 'Prolific USB to Serial Com Port (Com3)' in Device Manager. And my older Garmin Vista eTrex communicates with MapSource like it should. A real bargain compared with the only USB to Serial cable with advertized Vista compatibility that Newegg carries.

Cons: Your mileage may vary.

Other Thoughts: This is either an undisclosed feature in testing or a happy accident. Given that the installation is dated 6/7/2004, I think the latter is true. As usual Newegg's service was unbeatable. Thanks!
