I guess I have to give this a 5
- Pros: After returning another vendor's attempt to get this right to the store I purchased it from, I purchased this one and guess what? ... it works!!! with 64bit vista too, nice... however I probably should add that it does not work with vista w/ the CD it comes with. You need to go to the web site to download the drivers but not a big deal.
I'll give you a heads up too ... installing the vista driver takes a long time too, I thought it was going to fail and then, voila! I can move on to more important things :)
- Cons: none...
- Other Thoughts: The drivers make the difference... I guess plenty of companies can make the HW but startech got it right, great job.
Finally!
- Pros: Yay! Someone got it right.
A Serial port adapter that will hold the COM port setting between different USB ports on my laptop. It does this based on the internal serial number of the adapter. Works in Vista 64 bit as well! (and there was much rejoicing) As an administrator that has to regularly program new equipment such as switches, pdu's and the like, this makes life nice.
- Cons: Wish the cord was shorter or the USB dongle was built into the RS-232 plastic shell.
Sweet
- Pros: Worked perfect
- Cons: none
