ICON Loading...

Intel rarely seeks the help of third party chipset makers, because it's rare that they come up to Intel's exacting standards. In developing the BOXD101GGCL, they called on the ATI Radeon Xpress 200 chipset. Made in a Micro ATX form factor to fit the smaller cases, it supports the Pentium 4 Prescott or Celeron D at a FSB of 800 and 533 MHz. It is equipped with a PCI-E x16 slot for adding a PCI-E graphic card to remove load on the CPU, and can support a maximum of 2 Gigabytes of DDR 400 memory for enhanced and stable performance.

The four SATA 1.5 Gb/s connectors and two PATA connectors let you network with ease. The on-board Realtek ALC861 audio chipset delivers astoundingly clear 6-channel sound, and the built-in Realtek LAN card offers solid 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet connectivity. Two PCI and one PCI-E x1 slots allow multiple expansion cards to improve system performance and share the processing load. This is a great value board from Intel, and ready for your best shot!

3 out of 5 eggsVery Basic

Pros: Onboard audio and video

Cons: NO OVERCLOCKING

Other Thoughts: I thought I'd give my parents computer a little boost but there was no way to overclock. Very disappointed but still runs well with a 3 Ghz Pentium 4 and a Gig of RAM.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Low End Board!

Pros: Easy to install and configure since it does it all for you automatically. Has all of the essential components. Which makes it an inexpensive way to merge into the 775 / PCIE format without having to spend a lot of money. I did not have to purchase a video card right away. The onboard X300 video is not too bad. I can actually play games with it. I didnt have to buy new expensive RAM since I already had DDR RAM. The board has been very reliable the few months I have owned it. I am very happy with this board

Cons: Not the fastest on the market. No SLI / Crossfire. Does not support Core 2 processors. Not really cons though. No real cons so far.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board because it was an inexpensive Intel board and I knew it would be reliable. Intel usually is. It was a good way to get myself into the 775 / PCIE format without having to spend a lot of money. I bought this board and a processor and used all of my hardware from my older computer. Intel D101GGC, Pentium D 925 3.0Ghz, 1 GB DDR, 350W PSU, Maxtor HDD, CDRW/DVD ROM

4 out of 5 eggsWhen they say 24 pins...

Pros: Price, ease of install.

Cons: None noted.

Other Thoughts: Had a true senior moment trying to figure out why I had pins left over when preparing to connect the power supply. Bought an adapter, no worries.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent board for a workstation

Pros: USB 2 galore, Pentium D support out of the box, PCI-E, 16x PCI-E graphics port, nice layout, onboard graphics,it's an Intel. 2 PATA connectors for up to 4 PATA drives and 4 SATA ports. Sound works really well, even in games.
Supported pentium D 805 dual core w/o a BIOS update.

Cons: ATI is now owned by Intel's competition. Graphics stink, but it's onboard (UT2004 was just about unplayable w/ a dual core D 805, but sounded good). Sound driver on CD would not install (but this does NOT mean the board has to be RMA'd as previously mentioned. Latest driver from intel.com installed fine...look under "Intel motherboards made with 3rd party chipsets" on the driver page.) No firewire. No Dual channel support. Windows BIOS update will never be an option on this board.

Other Thoughts: I have had no issues with this board. Works like a champ. Considering the floppy only BIOS update, the lack of dual channel support, etc.. I will probably charge customers the extra ten-twenty bucks for A d965 mb (From Intel, of course.) After all, they are back in the onboard graphics game now.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel does it again!!!

Pros: Great MB! I think it's impossible for Intel to make bad board. I use it mainly for gaming, and it handles everything great... Perfect board with no problems. I don't know what the reviewer beneath me was writing...? It is HT. It just wont show under Intel's test, because the southbridge is made by a third party (ATI). This board saved me from replacing my ddr ram (184 to 240). For that alone, this was a great investment.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It handles every game (Oblivion, BFME 2, Titan's quest, Age of Empires 3) perfectly on maximum settings... Again why pay more if this can do that? It's more the internal componants you should be concerned about (i.e. video card, sound card, ram, etc). My system - 3.4 Cedar Mill HT, 2 gigs of XMS corsair ram, evga 8800 gts, zalman 9500 fan, Rosewill RP500w power, MX 1000 mouse, G15 keyboard. Perfect gaming setup - Again this mb handles everything flawlessly!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat basic board

Pros: Used this board for a computer build for my mom. Can't be the price and reliablility of Intel boards. I've built over 25 using other basic Intel motherboards and processors. Some two years old now, still running 24/7 strong. For now I'm sticking with the Intel boards for business and personal use.

Cons: On newer Intel boards and processors, not sure I understand the new push and click to attache the cpu heatsink and fan. Hard to tell if it's secure or not. Seems to pop off if not seated, and takes several trys to get it right. Thumbs down to the engineers who designed this contraption.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent board

Pros: Onboard LAN, Sound + Video. Great utility board. Quick and easy builds, everything just works.

Cons: Onboard audio in half of them flakes out when you play audio CDs. The PCs are used for office workstations so its no big deal.

Other Thoughts: I've built over 20 systems with these, Celeron D 336s, OCZ RAM, and Maxtor and WD SATA drives for work. Always turn to Intel when I need a quick build that just works.

5 out of 5 eggsGOOD STABLE BOARD

Pros: Bought as a replacement for a cheap discount board I had gotten to repair my son's pc. This mb dropped in and was fully functional without having to re-install WindowsXP, and it also ran on the other boards drivers...AMAZING!!! Of couse I re-installed everythimg. Just the fact that the board was so simple to install boggles the mind. GOOD STABLE BOARD.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor, stay away from the discount motherboards. Look around, you might find one of these fairly cheap. I got mine on a close out because the board has been replaced by the D102GGC2. But the D102GGC2 only supports DDR2 memory, and all mine is DDR.
