Runs like an angel
- Pros: Good firewall
- Cons: No cons.
- Other Thoughts: Uprgraded to this mobo from my old Asrock. This is not very much faster than my old one, but the reason is that I am using Sempron 2800 with this.
Firewall is a nice thing to have. Also I had a little troulbe when using FTP and tranfering big files. Have to turn it off for that time. It took me a while to ficured out it. Runs well with 1 giga Patriot ram, WD hdd 80 SATA, Sempron64 2800, G-force 5500 and Aopen DVD. Very good mobo, five stars.
Ok
- Pros: Good deal for the price, 64 bit, sata, easy manual for people who don't know what they're doing.
- Cons: Southbridge fan is in a HORIBBLE position and very LOUD. If you have a big heatsink/fan on your graphics card(mine's huge) then it's going to be VERY close to the southbridge fan(possibly touching). I actually ordered replacements for both of these.
Bios are a bit shaky, had weird memory errors at first.
- Other Thoughts: Bios are fairly user friendly, alright for overclocking. Drivers that come with it are garbage but this holds true for most hardware.
Overall I'm satisfied, and MIGHT buy this board again.
Teh Satan Part II
- Pros: See below.
- Cons: See below.
- Other Thoughts: Just to add onto what I previously wrote:
I reformatted my hard drive (separate reason, I had been wanting to for a while) with WinXP, and this time around I did NOT install EPoX's IDE drivers, and now it reads my DVD burner fine. It did in 2000 before I installed their drivers too. I'm having no performance/stability issues without their drivers, so I recommend not installing the IDE drivers unless you have problems otherwise.
Also, I may have been a little too harsh before. It's really not a bad board if you don't want to do a whole hell of a lot with it. It'd be good for a very budget-conscious gaming system, or for most non-gaming applications.
