Happy so far
- Pros: Once you set this thing up collectly, it just rock solid. I am using E6600 OC to 2.92GHz using 325 FSB (all voltage remain in stock setting). I know it can go much further, but just no need to. Base on features, performance, price, this board is much better than Asus P5B for sure. Here are some review about this board:
- Cons: For brginners, it may be a little tricky to start with. Need to have floppy drive to install drivers from floppy disks
- Other Thoughts: Here are some points that you may need to know before you go:
1. Try to avoid using OCZ Gold 2x1GB, you will have no post. 2. If you use XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400C5 2GB 2X1GB, you need to set the vDimm to 1.9V, or you will get errors. 3. When install Windows, you must F6 at the beginning and install the Intel, JMicro, Silicon Image drivers from the prived floppy disks. If not, you have blue screen. 4. Try to avoid Razer Copperhead USB mouse. It may freeze the computer.
Exceptional Board
- Pros: Excellent MB... has 3 choices of RAID controllers... 2 on Jmicron, 2 on Silicon, and 6 on intel RAID matrix. Has all the makings of a light duty server or an extremely nice A/V rig. Easy to configure and to overclock. I have run both the E6600 and the E4300 CPU's on this board and it does very well with either. The E4300 had actually the most impressive performance gain in overclocking.
- Cons: It can be a little picky about RAM... Also I had one board which failed in the PCI controller for the Jmicron RAID and would not allow a bootup after 2 weeks of use... but I think this was just an isolated incident, and I didn't devalue the rating, because NewEgg RMA'd the board in reasonable time and I have not had another incident with any of the other boards or the replacement.
- Other Thoughts: I recommend checking the bios revision to see if it is up to date with the latest and flashing it if it isn't. remember to clear the CMOS with the jumper next to the battery before rebooting. One issue that is worthy of note, and not a negative if you know about it... Be warned... use an old fashioned ps2 keyboard and mouse while setting up the MB for the first time... there is a point in time when the posting will drop the USB support, just before you get to the screen options to hit your Cntrl+J or Cntrl+I for setting up your RAID disks. If you use a USB supported keyboard, you will never be able to access the RAID setup utility during the boot posting. Again... you have to use a ps2 keyboard... period!

Abit MBoards
- Pros: Every Abit board I have use have been GREAT!
You have to be careful with them, because they have alot of features on the board. I use every caution to keep it Cool. My main system suppors Routers, 4 camera, Video Rec, Three Sata Harddrv, Three DVD Drv,Zip Drives and it runs cools with the proper cooling. I even have coolers on my Memory (Patriot). The Patriot Memory I 've purchase for Newegg has been running like a champ!
- Cons: Guru information could be a little more straight forward for beginners. But the high end boards are not for beginners
- Other Thoughts: Make sure you use a reliable steady power source.
This can make or break a good board. Newegg gets all of my business. I hate when Newegg is out of stock and I have to the OTHER web stores
Terrible MB
- Pros: Newegg got here fast.
- Cons: Doesn't boot- sticks at post code C1. Technical support at Abit never responds. Abit charges $7 +$20 for cross shipping a replacement. Doesn't work with 1.9v or above RAM, changed ram to 1.8v doesn't work. tried clearing CMOS doesn't work. Tried removing battery doesn't work.
- Other Thoughts: This is the third manufacturer of MB's I have gotten no response from Tech support when I find an issue with their MB. I have built hundreds of custom machines and Abit is the worse customer support I have found next to EVGA.
sickening
- Pros: nice to look at and has everything i wanted.
- Cons: one board dead out of the box and another just stuborn
it doesnt like my hard drives,it didnt like my processor and its not to fond of my memory. it hasnt complained any about the power supply. alarms work fine and so does the freezing up.
- Other Thoughts: i dont recommend this for a first time builder. be sure to visit abit web site for processor and memory type. learn japanese and get an intercom with auto dialing before trying to speak to a tech.
