5 out of 5 eggsBuy IT!

Pros: Works great! very satisfied!

Cons: Make sure you hook up the four pin connector to the power supply on the board as well as the main larger one by the processor.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great..... after troubleshooting

Pros: This board runs great. There aren't too many boards left out there that support socket 939 processors and AGP, and this was the one I ordered. The overclocking capabilities are all there, and the OC Guru software makes overclocking on the fly a breeze.

Cons: The BIOS error codes aren't that explanatory. I went through 3 power supplies and tried two different processers in this board before I found out that a defective CD-RW drive causes the same siren beeping noise as a defective CPU, wrong size CPU, or low current on the 12V rail of the power supply. Once I figured out that the BIOS didn't like my CD-RW drive, it POSTed, and ran like a dream, except it detects my DDR400 memory as DDR333, but I understand why. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I have a good feeling why this motherboard doesn't detect some memory at its correct speed. When I manually set my RAM speed to DDR400, everything ran OK, until I went into the OC Guru and attempted to run the system in turbo - the system locked up completely. Evidently, the board detects if your memory isn't good enough to handle the extra overclocking, and clocks it down so when you do overclock using the OC Guru software, you don't burn anything up. If you pay attention to the turbo memory clocking, it goes just over 400 MHz when clocking memory at 333.

2 out of 5 eggshrm

Pros: I bought one last year, and it works fine...

Cons: THIS time, however, this was shipped to me with a chip completely cracked off of the board (to the left of the AGP slot). I went to RMA it back to newegg, but they dont RMA this item, and I'm currently listening to the holding music on Abit's phone trying to get them to replace this for me.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: It does what I need it to do.Really like the layout and the four DIMM slots.

Cons: My video card, xfx 6800GT needed more power to run it. bought an antec 480 power suppply to be able to run my two hard drives, two cd/dvd drives, mobo, and video card.

Other Thoughts: the layout doesn't match my tower, but thats not the mobo's fault.

Says I can have up to 8GB of memory, but the booklet only says 4GB. Somewhat confusing but 4 GB is still too much for gaming haha.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Came in my Alienware just before they switched to Nvidia boards. No problems whatsoever.

Cons: Compared to some of the newer boards it's lacking on amount of SATA hookups. I'm not too fond of the BIOS that's installed.

3 out of 5 eggsPCI Slots Not Usable

Pros: Very Stable (so far).

Cons: Flawed PCU slot lay out. I can't beleive no reviewer mentioned this - but 3 of the 5 PCT slots are unusable becuase of placement of round cylinder thingys and CD1 pins.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't Discontinue!

Pros: Back in Nov 05 I wrote a review on this board. Built a system for my sister. This is a Rock Solid board. Build went smooth as a babies Bottom. VIA is the way to go. The board is laid out perfectly. All the features work as intended right out of the box. Paired this with 3200+, 2x512 Patriot DDR400, Rosewill 9600XT256,Maxtor120gig sata. Not one problem and its been 15 Months running Perfectly. What more can you ask for? See other thoughts for the answer.

Cons: Not one single Con for this Great Product.

Other Thoughts: Now that Abit and USI have merged maybe they will get all their marbles in one sock and bring back the Solid boards like this one and the KV8 Pro (Don't let 754 die) Give the customers a choice (NVida or VIA) Want to reach that 10 mil. goal then they need to start producing and providing such Fine Companies like Newegg with their products, GET MOVING ABIT! I am Loyal to ABIT and Newegg. This last year with ABIT has been Fustrating. I am tired of looking everywhere and seeing Abit products constantly OUT OF STOCK.....This goes for the Great Video Cards Abit Produces also. AGP and 754 will only die if the producer lets them. Don't! Not yet anyway! Hope AMD is Listening too! Give the People Choice!

5 out of 5 eggsVery solid board

Pros: Almost perfect layout - everything is where it needs to be to keep cables clean. Side mounted IDE, lower right corner SATA, and the CMOS jumper is not hard to reach either, tweakers rejoice and put down the needle nose pliers!
Onboard diagnostics - the port 80h display is a great addition that many companies simply dont use any more, but it really helps when it comes down to pin pointing problems. The screen displays a 2 character code, you look that code up in the manual, and it'll tell you where the problem is.
Passive chipset - No need for those tiny and whinney 40mm fans to cool your VIA chipset
plenty of mounting room - I was suprised to see just how much finger room I had around the cpu socket, will make installing larger coolers a little bit easier.
GREAT overclocking ability - bios is easy to navigate and the uguru windows overclocking and monitoring utility.

Cons: limited SATA - The board only has 2x SATA ports,so large scale raid arrays will need controller cards.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board when my Abit KV7 finally died, and I have been running problem free with a 3200 venice, 2gb ddr400, 6800GT, and 74gb WD raptor. I had no problems with my SATA drive being detected and installing windows on it. Everything is well spaced so if your the kind of person who wants a monster heatsink on everything, you have the room!
When I received the board I did upgrade the bios to image 25, which has since been removed from Abit's website with warning now against it. It aparently had some problems and once flashed your board turns into a paper weight. Abit got me a new board in about a week and I have been running solid since (on an earlier bios of course :) )
