Excellent value!
- Pros: A real bargain! I haven't seen any DX10 games or apps yet and I appreciate the fact that Gigabyte still spends the time to offer BIOS updates even after they came out with Rev2 on the P-DS3.
- Cons: Poor placement of the IDE connector for the CD-DVD IDE drives. A longer data cable is required to reach them in most PC cases I own (Antec,CoolerMaster,Eneremax).
- Other Thoughts: So-called purists complain that the board isn't worth a pooch for overclocking bacause of the onboard video. I upgrade my motherboard and components every couple of years to experience the latest in performance. I use the PC more as a tool and less for gaming.Only rich kids can affords dual video cards. I like the fact that I can off the board to some lamey and thus keep my $250-$300 video card for myself since the board has onboard video. I'm somewhat of an enthusiast and thr board is plenty fast as it is. Not everyone overclocks.
Same as GigabyteP-DS3, with Onboard Video
- Pros: Excellent board, has onboard video option as a backup in case your video card goes kaboom! Great overclocking potential, case comes with everything you need.
- Cons: Won't really be using the onboard video after I get my x1900xt, so save a few bucks and go with the other one if you don't plan testing out your OC's without a video card.
- Other Thoughts: Onboard video wasn't something I really needed in the end, but it might come useful in the future!

Failing CPU Fan Header
- Pros: Seemed like a solid board
- Cons: Ordered this mobo on 11/18/2006 and built the system. Within a couple of minutes I started having abrupt shutdowns. Traced it to the cpu fan stopping (varying periods of time) due to what appears to be a faulty cpu fan header. Contacted Gigabyte and told I could send the board in and wait 3 weeks for them to test. This is my work system and I can't afford that time. They said they won't crosscharge/crossship boards because people screw them.
- Other Thoughts: Gigabyte's response time is poor and I had to initiate a phone call and push to talk to a tech. She admitted it was likely a cpu fan controller issue but it was up to the rma group to deal with it. RMA group said send in and that's it. Told them I would post this message and they said to go ahead.
Suggest people think twice before ordering Gigabytle (I won't again).
Nice MB
- Pros: Well built, nice layout, excellent cables included, easy install, drivers worked
- Cons: None that I can think of
- Other Thoughts: I'm thrilled with the MB. I needed a system that could run more than just XP and (Ugh)Vista. After jerking around with an Intel MB, I searched for a board that could do a bit more. I found Gigabyte's Website very helpful, with manuals, drivers, etc. I'm running Windows Server 2003, hardware and software went in with zero problems. I highly recommend this MB.
This one's outdated 4 the times.
- Pros: This is a great GigaByte mobo, and it hasall the nifty things you'd need 4 a Windows XP system.
- Cons: The cons nail this board. First, this GA-965G-DS3 mobo has come in 3 revisions, they are rev. 1, rev. 2, and rev. 3.3. As a couple of guyz have mentioned in these reviews on the board, Newegg was shipping the rev. 1 board, & that won't cut it w/ modern Vista OS. I got the rev. 1 board, & boy did i have troubles. First, i bought it to go w/ the, at the time, very new E6320 C2D Conroe cpu. I learned that i really had to flash the Bios immediately, to get the board to b responsive. GigsByte had a brand new Bios, i think it was F8, for the board, and it was to manage the new E6329 & E6420 cpuS. I worked and worked w/ the board, but it turned out 2 b that the rev. 1 board just couldn't cut it w/ Vista, which u really should run. Just yesterday, Cnet.com reported that, right now, 81% of the world is using Windows XP, and only 5% w/ Vista, and 6% w/ Apple stuff. GigaByte makes the Ultra Durable 2 line boards now, and those can do Vista. The GA-965G-DS3 mobo NIC was bad 4 me.
- Other Thoughts: As i said, the Ultra Durable 2 line of boards can do Vista pretty good, and they are recommended over this GA-965G-DS3 Ultra Durable board. My board had the Marvell Corp.'s Yukon line of NIC card/LAN, which was gigabit LAN, but i could never get a reliable internet connection. That was the whole bomb in a nutshell, w/ me not being able to use this board. So, my friends, the GigaByte Ultra Durable 2 line of boards, made after Vista release, are recommended, and i want to say 'yeah' for GigaByte motherboards. Have at 'em.
