5 out of 5 eggsIt's a motherboard

Pros: Simple and stable, comes with good features and onboard video. Makes a great mid line mobo for a small buisness workstation.

Cons: Fan alarm goes off for the first second during boot untill the 120mm fans get to speed. That could be fixed by not running them off the mobo, but it doesn't bother me.

Other Thoughts: Running with a Core 2 Duo 2.13GHZ processor, 2GB DDR2 800 1.8v Ram, 80GB SATA HD, in a standard Antec case.

3 out of 5 eggsNo FSB > 1066

Pros: Lots of features.

Cons: Doesn't support 13333 FSB CPU's. Would be nice if it was stated in the description. Now I have to return the CPU and down grade to a lesser one.

3 out of 5 eggsFrustrated

Pros: Board works great with 3 gigs of ram.

Cons: Wont work with 4 gigs. Freezes and reboots. I have been told it is a voltage problem, but I can't find the setting to change in BIOS.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte support is....non-existent? Where is this company? I picture a Resident Evil setting where a virus took them all out; it's just an empty building.

3 out of 5 eggsProblems with 4 gigs.

Pros: It is...a motherboard.

Cons: 4 gigs of ram (1g in each dimm slot) will fail continuously. put in 3 gigs and you're fine. awesome. anyone know how to fix this?

Other Thoughts: sick of troubleshooting poor hardware.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board - has everything

Pros: Easy install of processor. Nice layout. Memory running dual with no prob. Redundant RAID no problem. Some overclocking features. Easy firmware update. I did mine via USB flashdrive.
Loads XP with all software in 15 seconds.

Cons: SATA cables are short. Had to mount drives before connecting.
Hard drive not usable for FW update.
XP video driver not on CD. Have to DL from site. Vista driver on CD.
SATA drivers for XP install not on CD. There are drivers on the CD, tried ALL 10 of them on floppy with no success. Had to DL from site. Worked great with right drivers.

Other Thoughts: Leave SMART disabled or RAID isn't recognized.
Website has more info than manual.

5 out of 5 eggsGood and solid

Pros: Solid performer easy setup. Use CTRL F1 to get all BIOS options.

Cons: Strange behavior when OC'ed - it is losing SATA drives - the previous comment indicates this as well. I have e-mailed GB customer support about this.

Other Thoughts: Runs under FC7 64 bit w/ 8G of memory installed. Performs very well even under heavy load. No tweaks are required when installing Linux!
Compared to other boards I tested i.e. by Asus P5B-VM - which is a real dog under Linux I am rating this board a solid 5 star.

4 out of 5 eggsNot too impressed

Pros: Nice layout, nice port options. Board can reset bios defaults if overstressed on OC options (never had to clear cmos while experimenting).

Cons: *HOT* Northbridge (snap off the gigabyte flat and chip cools 5C), no voltage options. EasyTune 5 is junk!

Other Thoughts: This is my first board, and I've done some research. However I was unable to OC my E6420 over 2.49 / 310fsb. At 315 one of my sata drives disappeared, and at 315 all sata drives disapeared. At 320 the system reset defaults.
Flashed bios to F6 (from F5) before any fsb changes would stick. Using Patriot 6400/800 memory - would not run if fsb pushed memBW over 800 (i left mem settings stock due to lack of knowledge in cas/ras settings).

3 out of 5 eggsTrouble Booting

Pros: Works great when its working

Cons: If the power on my computer is shut off without properly shutting down first my computer will not post. The power comes on and all the fans spin and I can hear the hd going, but all I am stuck with are a bunch of blinking lights. I have pulled hardware out and tried to boot and put it back in and tried to boot but nothing works. Oddly enough the only thing that fixes it is to let it set for a few hours and then it suddenly boots up fine. The power supply works fine so that only leaves the board. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this some kind of weird feature or am I missing something in the bios or is the board just messed up?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little mobo

Pros: Solid, runs flawlessly. Everything works great. Fast LAN. Great motherboard and worth every penny. Definitely gets the 5 eggs!

Cons: Only CON I can think of is theres already a replacement newer technology than the G965 north bridge. If your looking for a motherboard for intel chips, then I would point you toward the G33 Express chipset. It has been designed specifically to support future intel processors.

Other Thoughts: I thought I was boned when I paid extra for DDR2-800 memory at 4-4-4-12 latencies when the motherboard detected them as 5-5-5-15. I was upset because there was no manual latency settings in the BIOS. Doing some quick research on the internet I found out you have to hit crtl-F1 while at the main page of the BIOS to "unhide" all the advanced overclocking features. Just remember that if you buy this board.
