Quirky to start, excellent support
- Pros: Rapid and competent Tech Support at Gigabyte in California. Answered questions without problems. Offered fix to unstable behavior or would replace mobo no problem.
- Cons: Gigabyte board interacted with Kingston DDR 400 memory PC3200 to cause Prime95 test to instantly fail. Using older 300W Enright power Supply. Was able to correct by increasing the voltage to memory. BIOS was very user friendly for this purpose. Fixed problem and very stable Prime95 torture test for 14 hours. AMD Sempron 3000 CPU.
- Other Thoughts: This was one of the quirkiest mobos I've had in building 20+ systems. Seemed unstable in failing to install WinXP Pro on 3 attempts. Excellent tech support from Gigabyte and able to fix to create low cost stable system w/ older P/S. Nice list of good features on mobo, but would probably go to ASUS in future with fewer startup problems.
Great mobo
- Pros: Very good build quality, best of any mobo i've seen. All of the connectors feel very solid (i.e. a nice click when inseting USB devices.)
Driver disk is awesome, installed all of the drivers flawlessly, and the interface was nice too. automatically restarts after installing each driver one by one.
Sound is great.
- Cons: Using a DVI-I connector in place of the DSUB would've been nice.
An optical out would've been good too.
Mother board is a little short one way, made me paranoid about breakage because i couldn't put screws into the back edge.
- Other Thoughts: I also own a NF3 250GB by D*I, and this board beats the quality of the lanparty series.
Easy Install
- Pros: Easy upgrade; Very stable
- Cons: PS/2 mouse would occasionally stop working after reboots. Could be a software issue, but replaced it with a USB mouse and all was good.
