4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice price, and it has everything I need for a budget gaming rig. I really liked that it has three RAM slots instead of the seeming normal two.

Cons: Knocked one egg off because I can't get it to post if my iPod is attached at restart, also the OC'ing software included didn't work very well.

Other Thoughts: I would gladly buy this board again, even if it cost more.
Unlike FIREarms, I found it easier to overclock via the BIOS rather than the included software.

Other Thoughts: very good, great features,
Radeon x850
2 GIGS of Kingston RAM
3.4 Intel P4, OCed

5 out of 5 eggsyay, it's good

Pros: It works. Dont need to update bios.

Cons: You have to remove the video card if you want to add/remove memory :(
Not a big problem though.

Other Thoughts: Dont use UPS, use Fedex.

3 out of 5 eggsSo far so good, well almost

Pros: Looks well made and seems stable in operation.

Cons: With only a single drive in the entire system, the Award BIOS assumes the SATA drive should be set up as a RAID. It took me some time to figure out why the drive was not being seen as bootable, changed the BIOS setting and all worked fine.

The USB connectors are VERY static sensitive. It is OK if the extended ports are mounted to the backplane, but if mounted to the plastic front panel as a lot of cases now have, then 50% of the time just touching the metal of the USB port with the USB-item will cause an instant reboot. I tried direct grounding to the case but still no good. I had to abandon the front mount USB ports.

Other Thoughts: Nice, well laid out board. The SATA and BIOS issue above is not really Gigabyte's problem, but they chose to use the Award so I gave it a mention in case someone else falls foul of it.

The USB-static problem was not worth pulling the board for return but it is a bummer not being able to use the front USB ports.

I'd pass on this board next time around.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: First computer build for me and I recommend this MB for anyone that wants an easy install. Did not have to mess with the BIOS at all, it recognized hard drive and DVD burner with no problems Manual was easy to understand and no jumpers to set. Manufacturers site was easy to navigate and get the information that I was looking for.

My cpu is Celeron D 325
Chaintech V3 AGP card
Kingston 512 MB DDR400
Hipro 300 watt power supply

Cons: There were no mounting spacers with it.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is the best on the web.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value

Pros: Good layout
Very clear install instructions
Driver CD auto install process
Price vrs benefits & features
Stability of bios

Cons: None that I can find

Other Thoughts: I had an expensive Sxxo MoBo with all the bells and whisles that has been nothing but problems since I bought it. After many problems with loose board connections I finally gave up. I didn't yet want to upgrade my ram or P4 2.53ghz 478 pin processor so I opted for the least expensive brd I could find that had 5 pci slots, Lan and USB2. The Gigabyte 8S648FPX-RZ for $xx.00 fit the bill. I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THIS BOARD MONTH'S AGO!! It installed quickly, the driver cd auto install process is flawless and very easy and I didn't even have to reinstall XP Media Center OS !! I am doing graphics, website building, using MCE to record video programming and video editing on this board and it has performed flawlessly!! It has been extremely stable and no more board cable connection problems.... I am a happy camper !!! Of course NewEgg's service and two day delivery, over Xmas week no less, for a $x is nothing short of Exceptional !!!!!

4 out of 5 eggsGood board once setup properly

Pros: 5 pci slots and 2 com ports for those who need them. Rock solid once setup properly (as always for gigabyte boards).

Cons: Touchy about memory. If you plan on installing multiple DDR-400 sticks in this motherboard, make sure of two things: you won't be able to install 3, and you might have to rearrange them. For my particular setup it would only work when the two 1 GB sticks were on the outside.

Also, it doesn't reboot. Once your operating system has shutdown it will wait indefinately for the bios to reset the machine. This is a problem in many gigabyte boards, and will likely be fixed with future bios upgrade (F4 doesn't fix it). The simple solution is just to never reboot over the internet.

Other Thoughts: The builtin Q-Flash doesn't recognize the filename of the bios correctly. You'll have to flash via the windows app or from a bootable floppy. This isn't really that important unless you don't have access to a windows machine (which is also required to extract the bios out of the non-zip-compliant executable from gigabyte's website).

4 out of 5 eggsgood for server

Pros: Extremely stable have been running this board with a p4 2.4 GHz at full load for two weeks for a stress test and has not crashed once. It’s cheap and has Sata.

Cons: The problems with this board are that I can not seem to raise the core voltage unless a jumper need to be moved that I do not know about. The drives you need to install have a bad setup thanks for that gigabyte but that it.

Other Thoughts: If your not a overclocker good board

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo

Pros: Easy Install, worked great with my hardware, and good for overclocking.

Cons: Had to reinstall windows for it to work (not too bad considering that this has to be done with most mobos anyway).

Other Thoughts: Nice mobo for a great price.
