1 out of 5 eggsvery odd

Pros: Gigabyte is a good company however they really messed up on this motherboard

Cons: The motherboard pictured (which im assuming is what the real Gigabyte GA-8I915PL-G looks like) is totally different from the motherboard we recieved. It seems to be a problem on Gigabyte's end because the sticker on the mobo says its the GA-8I915PL but it isn't. This is probably why a few of us are having problems with the motherboard recongnizing the hard drive... We are taking it back and trying a new one.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Motherboard

Pros: Once we got the thing running, it was great. Had problems initially setting it up, but the people manning the phones at Gigabyte (on New Years Eve) did a great job talking me through the process and got it working. The computer has been running continuously for two weeks now. No problems loading other devices onboard, graphics cards, memory, etc.

Cons: The problem I had getting started had to do with it would not recognize my existing hard drive. I had to reinstall windows xp and us a RAID driver disk, which was made from the Gigabyte website. Once the RAID issue was fixed, the motherboard worked fine.

Other Thoughts: I bought it at a local store, but I will probably buy more often from Newegg in the future. Newegg rocks! Fast delivery times, too!

2 out of 5 eggsJunk......simply put

Pros: I finally got it to work to an extent.

Cons: Flaky. Unreliable. Tempermental.

Other Thoughts: I bought this at another location locally as it seems the Asus mobo I ordered is lost in the mail and I needed a quick temporary board. I thought I lost all my data on my storage drive as this thing would not properly recognize my SATA drives. I booted from CD and it didn't recognize my drives properly then after a few reboots it did. Then it placed the boot sector on my storage drive and the OS files on the other one and I would get boot disk failure warnings sometimes. It already BSODed on me once in just two days and I have very high end components like Enermax 535w ATX2 PSU and Corsair RAM, etc.. Get something else if you can....anything.

5 out of 5 eggsGood MB, Good Price

Pros: Good price, features I needed.

Cons: Not much

Other Thoughts: I haven't had any problems with this board. It is one of only a handful of boards with 3 PCI slots, and PCI-Ex. Everything worked flawlessly the first time I installed it. The price was also a steal. For an additional $xx, you can get one with DDR2, and Digital audio out, but I didn't need that for my application.

1 out of 5 eggsBAD BOARD

Comments: This board is defective. I called Gigabyte several times, each time I was told the problem was something else I had installed. after many hours of research I found the problem. The Ram slots do not fit tightly. any movement of the computer can loosen the connection. very dissapointed. I will stick with MSI in the future.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY!

Comments: this has got to be the worse motherboard i have ever bought.. for some reason, it wont install my hard drive, therefor i cannot install windows.. i believe that it has something to do with the RAID control, and the disk that came with it says that it has a RAID driver on the disk... and thats all good n' swell, but i have to have windows installed for the comp to recognize the disk.. and thats kinda hard to do when i have to have a HDD to install windows! Be Warned!

4 out of 5 eggsre-review

Comments: I wrote the 2 star review before. I have put this board in to machines now and have figured out the problem with the ram so overall this is a good board. You just have to really put some force on the RAM to get it in right it seems. So I give it 4 eggs.
