MSI is awesome!!!
- Pros: First off, this is an outstanding motherboard!!! I love the onboard sound. It is awesome for something that comes onboard!!! Very nice layout, and MSI Live update for BIOS flash and drivers comes in handy, especially since I bought this openbox and recieved just the mobo and NO other accessories. There really is no downside to ordering this open box, as I just called up MSI (didn't even have a wait to talk to an actual person!!!) and explained to them that I had ordered the mobo with no accessories, and they sent me EVERY SINGLE ACCESSORY THAT WAS MISSING FROM A NIB MOBO FOR FREE!!!!! THAT IS WHAT I CALL EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!! MSI just earned themselves one more loyal customer due to the great product and EXCELLENT customer support.
- Cons: The only con for this board is that it only has 2 PCI slots, and my soundcard (X-Fi Platinum) permanently resides in one. I do not find this enough of a con to give the board anything less than 5 eggs due to the ease of support and great price I got it for (about $xxx shipped open box right here on newegg!!). Thanks newegg!!
- Other Thoughts: Wow, I have only dealt with customer support a few times, and it has been mixed on how well it could've gone and how well it DID go, but the MSI customer support is awesome!!! They were very easy to contact via phone, (I know that's rare!!!) very nice and helpful, and the best part of all..... all the accessorries that were missing due to me buying it open box were shipped to me free courtesy of MSI!!!! I can't say enough good things about this buying experience!!!
Troubles
- Pros: Good price, alot of cables and options in the BIOS.
- Cons: UPS lost the one I bought here but I got one at other store. One of the chipset was getting realy hot cause the fan is 8 inches away connected by a hollow pipe and it was causing the system to shutdown. I installed a chipset fan which solved the problem but messed up the warranty. My front channel speakers speakers dont work(faulty onboard audio) but cannot claim warranty or return. Have to buy a seperate sound card.
- Other Thoughts: I dont think its worth paying the price for it.
Some sound issues
- Pros: I like just about everything with this MOBO. All of the bios controls are easy to understand.
- Cons: I have issues with the sound. I am getting a lot of buzzing and random sounds but only when the mic is unmuted in the sounds options. For those of you that game and use Teamspeak you know this can be a problem. I am trying to resolve this with MSI now, hopefully all will be well.
