Best Motherboard for AM2 Processors
- Pros: Supports the latest AM2 6400+ processor. 6 SATA/300 connectors, 3 PCI connectors.
- Cons: only 1 IDE port, which caused me to upgrade from IDE/133 harddrives to SATA/300 harddrives and glad I did!!
- Other Thoughts: My most favorite motherboard. When I bought my first board in 4Q06, the current 6400+ processors were not out. This board continued supporting later processors and higher voltage memory chips, where many of my older boards would not support beyond the technology available when they were built. Only problem I have had is when I upgraded from a 4600+ to a 6400+ proc, I received an error "processor revision unknown, press F1" on boot up, but a bios upgrade 10-4-2007 from MSI's web site solved the issue. The BIOS is super easy, even setting up RAID. Though I do not over clock, the BIOS makes it easy for those who do. In fact I like this board so much I bought a second, purchased from NewEgg.com.
MSI Rocks!!
- Pros: Very stable and fast! Good layout, great features and awesome performance! I have read reviews from people on here that had bad experiences w/MSI, but I have had nothing but the best from them. I once emailed and asked where I could purchase some items because I got an oem board and they sent them for FREE! No questions, just asked for my address! I will own nothing but MSI from now on.
- Cons: Cpu temp is off, says my cpu is -21C, but Farenheit is fine so nbd.
- Other Thoughts: There was no tweaking, no fussing and no wait, installed OS, my game and hopped onto a server and started playing!! As always Newegg was great!
What a beauty!!!
- Pros: This MB is one of the best one I have seen. It is functional and very capable, so far is been running with no issues, no crashes or any delays.
- Cons: Can't think of anyone right this second.
