5 out of 5 eggsSolid Board

Pros: Have had this board since February-dual boot winxp/vista, e4300,evga 7600gt, 2gigs wintec 667, antec 550 trio. I run this thing 24/7 and use it for gaming, watching tv and internet. Never had any board issues.

Cons: Can only overclock to 2.4 ghz. Core cell utility worthless-does not properly recognize fsb of e4300, "thinks" its fsb is 266. I overclock through bios.

Other Thoughts: Use a reasonable, good quality psu-in my eperience most problems are caused by poor psus.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: The drivers provided with it worked. MSI provides downloads to fresher drivers on their site, which I fully recommend. All hardware seems to be working fine. Windows XP Pro SP2 installed easily.

Cons: Linux doesn't seem to like this board. Older Redhat threw a kernel panic. Knoppix 5.1 fails to go anywhere. Ubuntu 7.04 defaulted to BusyBox. It took some annoying wizardy to get Ubuntu to install. (Disabling the USB in the BIOS was the first step...)

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent board for the price

Pros: Have had MSI boards in the past, reliable and worked well. This one looks to be no exception and the price is great for my new Intel E6600 and Patriot 2GB DDR2 800 RAM (bios will adjust for timing and voltage) along with a EVGA 8800GTS...
MBO over clocking ability is enough and on the safe side... I want this to last. Looking forward to this!

Cons: Can't think of any.. wish they wouldn't include on board sound, just adds to the price, but that's OK for those that want it and I hear it's a good one too.

5 out of 5 eggsGood reliable board, 2 thumbs up

Pros: A good, solid board. I've built a handful of systems using this board now and they have all been reliable and trouble free.

Cons: If you're stupid, you will have problems with this motherboard. But that's true of almost all computer hardware.

Other Thoughts: MSI boards have proven to be solid reliable boards and this one is no exception. I have built thousands of systems and MSI is one of the only 2 brands I will use for motherboards.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: This motherboard comes at a great price, with an excellent set of features, nothing too fancy, but I have used it to get my E6600 up to a stable 3006mhz, and a E6420 up to 2660mhz.

Jmicron controller is very good IF YOU INSTALL BOTH DRIVERS. Otherwise, yeah, it's really really slow. Onboard Audio is OK.

Cons: Can't up the vcore, if you want to overclock, it's stock voltage only.

Other Thoughts: If you want in on the Core 2 Duo, this is a great way to go. I've built 4 systems on thsi Mobo so far and all of them have been great performers.

3 out of 5 eggsmerely ok

Pros: it can run both core 2 duo and core 2 quad chips (with a BIOS update) and it supports several SATA ports and PCI-x16. Also, real cheap!

Cons: Almost zero overclocking potential, you cant adjust the voltages AT ALL. also, the BIOS mine shipped with was all sorts of flaky, an update fixed most issues though. The realtek network chip on-board does NOT like vista, I had to do a lot of messing with it to get it working.

Other Thoughts: if you wanna build a core 2 on a VERY tight budget you might use this, but trust me, you're better off with a bad axe or a 680i, my freinds have those boards, they're WORTH THE MONEY!

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Board

Pros: Cheap, no install problems. Minimalistic. Good documentation.

Cons: Not really a con but didnt realize there wasnt on board VGA.

Other Thoughts: I just wanted to give this board an updated review especially regarding the BIOS. I just flashed the BIOS going from version 1.5 to 1.8 and I am having no problems at all using Debian linux and XP. If you are having memory problems it is most likely your fault for not doing your research. im using 2 sticks of 1Gb csr 667's and having no memory problems. I am able to boot from SATA DVD, IDE HD, or SATA HD. Read up on all products and compat before you buy, not everything is plug and play.

3 out of 5 eggsRAID is flawed on this board

Pros: Cheap

Cons: The RAID on this mobo only works with 1 SATA port and the single IDE port. In other words you can NOT RAID two SATA drives. MSI generally makes great boards but I think this one is a dud. I am avoiding all boards with JMicron controllers forever.

Other Thoughts: I used this board for a friends system and now I feel like a jerk because he can not run a RAID array. Motherboard also has halting DVD playback and I am sure it is because of the JMicron controlled IDE port that the DVD is on. DVD content ripped to the hard drive plays fine, it only stutters when running through the IDE port. Find an MSI board without a JMicron controller.
