Nice mobo, but...
- Pros: Nice features, everything works, installed this into a Linux machine and it worked fine.
- Cons: I had some problems with how the board distinguishes between PATA and SATA. Getting the settings just right can be a pain. This is why the -1 in rating.
- Other Thoughts: Good board although everything about it feels a little on the cheap side. I had no problems except for the above though.
Got a bad banana :(
- Pros: Seems to run pretty fast. Since I still have a s478, it works for me.
- Cons: My board came with a DOA network plug. The drivers work (believe me, I tried the ones from the CD, ones downloaded from MSI, and even ones straight from Realtek) but the plug's just no good.. :(
- Other Thoughts: Kinda cramped... IDE channels are right next to some PCI slots, so if you've got longer cards you'll have to do move them so they don't block the IDE channels. If you've got a 'plus size' heatsink/fan for the CPU, forget it.. there's capacitors just above it, and the 20-pin PSU connector is RIGHT next to the CPU also. Besides that, it works great!
Great Mother Board
- Pros: Installed board in the case, hooked up all peripherals, set bios to boot from cd and let Widows XP do the rest. Setup went without a hitch. Board is very stable. The price was great as was the service from NewEgg!
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Will buy this brand again.
