3 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Bought this so I could put a 6600LE pci-e vid card in. Nice if you still are running the 754s, I have a 1.6ghz sempron running in it. Nice

Cons: Nothin

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The upgrade from an ECS 754 board was immediately noticeable right out of the first boot nearly a year ago. For its time the nForce4 chipset was blazing-fast, top of the line. It still holds a place today, but its 754 implementation is no doubt losing viability. Plenty of room on the board, nice if you want to install a massive CPU cooler. I personally haven't, but it is possible to center a 120mm over the CPU and still clear the case fans. If your cooler is low, however, you will need to worry about the RAM placement. Overall good layout and PCB labeling.

Cons: This board has taught me to be wary of motherboards offering a northbridge fan. I wish I had known then what I know now, that any northbridge fan placed on a motherboard in this range will probably not stand the test of time. Just short of one year of operation, my fan gave out. I removed the tiny heatsink and applied some silver-based thermal compound, and pointed a 120mm fan at it pending the arrival of a Cooler Master SLC-S41-U1 chipset cooler and Artic Silver's Arctic Alumina thermal adhesive (AATA-5G). If you buy this board, or any board with a chipset fan, take no risks. Purchase an aftermarket chipset cooler at the start.

Other Thoughts: Will be removing this board soon in favor of a 939 dual core. However, I do still hope to get another year or two's use out of it and my Athlon 3400+ as a low-traffic server/general second computer.

5 out of 5 eggsGood and solid mobo

Pros: Nice size, fits my case perfectly. The BIOS menu has many different options and allows you very flexible control over what you want to enable, disable, or tweak.

Started a pre-installed windows harddrive with no problems at all - windows auto installed the minor components and drivers finished the rest. Very stable.

Cons: Floppy drive I bought doesn't work with it. I connected it and I get a "Floppy Drive (40) failed" when I boot up. Was able to disable the notice. Very minor since I only bought the drive to have as a precautionary measure incase I needed to install RAID Drivers (which I didn't and RAID can be disabled in the BIOS).

Other Thoughts: I bought this mobo to replace an asus K8N AGP mobo that's AGP slot broke. I was worried that I would encounter problems with RAID being enabled without a way to disable it (like another asus mobo I tried). Was very pleased with how this turned out and highly recommend MSI as it comes with very detailed documentation.

5 out of 5 eggssimple setup

Pros: running at 202fsb with two sticks of double sided ram, 1 ultra 512 + 1 supertalent 512. Had to manually up the fsb a little in the bios to get away from 333. Chaintech fx5200 agp, not listed and works flawlessly.

Cons: none that I can see so far

Other Thoughts: agp and pci express together, what a concept. Havent tried the pci express yet but if it works like the rest of the board im sure it will be fine

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful!!

Pros: I didn't want to buy a PCI-E card yet because I am happy with my AGP card. I am not a serious gamer so I am not ready to make the step. I was thrilled to find out that my Chaintech FX-5500 256MB card is compatible even though it is not listed as being so on the MSI site. AGR Riser is Great! Love having the fan on the North Bridge chip. My Asus K8V SE Deluxe did not have one. Core center program gives you a good idea of what is going on inside.

Cons: Not a con really, more of an observation. The motherboard seems to be size wise more of an ATX mini, not a standard. You only need six screws to bolt it down not the standard nine. Still fits nice and snug in the case though. Wonderful board for those making the switch from AGP to PCI-E and still an N-Force 4 Board! Wooohooo!

Other Thoughts: I used the N-Force and G-force drivers from the NVidia website, they are a little more current. But still a good Idea to get all standard drivers from MSI's webpage first. Better to be safe than sorry... O yes, and for all those who complained about the AGP card covering the SATA 3 and 4 slots, well it does. No secret there. But seriously, How many standard PC users out there really need 4 hard drives anyways? I think people complain too much. What do you expect from a board of this price anyways? It works great.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great motherboard for any one with a socket 754 who wants the Nforce4 chipset.

Cons: Could use more memory slots

Other Thoughts: Great product for the price this is the 3rd pc I have built using an MSI board with no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value - Great Performance - Great Price

Pros: The MOBO is fast, compact, stable and comes with an easy to understand user manual. MSI packed the board with plenty of features for a low priced MOBO.

Cons: The board doesn't come with a IEEE 1394 port which would have been nice but not essential. Also, the board only has 3 fan connections two of which are needed for the CPU and an onboard chip set fan. This leaves only 1 fan for chasis cooling. No big deal since you can connect up to the power supply but it would have been nice to have a few connectors on the board.

Other Thoughts: Compliments to Newegg for their great service. Thanks Newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Transitional MB

Pros: Socket 754 board with PCIe slot for new generation of graphics cards. Supported all four of my IDE devices. Also supports SATA drives.

Cons: Short on IDE cables and fan speed monitor connections. SATA connections will be blocked by a long video card.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board knowing its short comings. It is, in my opinion, a good board to use as a transition to PCIe while retaining an older CPU and memory combination. This card has allowed me to move to the next generation of video cards without having to invest in a new CPU, MB, Memory combo. It should serve me well until the prices and MB options for Conroe stabilize. This allowed me to stairstep to an eventual better system by helping to spread out upgrade costs until income tax return time.
Newegg was fantastic, as usual, with the whole order process.
