Works as advertised
- Pros: Conroe X6800, DDR2 800 and SLI X16 support.
The board definitely supports the above, I'm writing this review from my new build that uses this mobo, memory and cpu. I did have to clear the CMOS to get the system to post the first time.
Using Corsair 6400C4 DDR2 800 Memory, POST'ed at 800.
- Cons: Had to clear the CMOS to get the machine to post, read the manual for this procedure.
- Other Thoughts: The only reason I upgraded from a FX60 DDR system was because I play EQ2, a game that is very demanding on hardware. For me it was totally worth it. It was a nice noticeable upgrade.
Newegg, as it has for the last couple years delivered as advertised.
Gotta love Asus
- Pros: Another great MOBO from Asus. Everything worked flawless out of the box. Specs - E6600 Conroe Core2 Duo- ATI X1900XTX - Corsair 6400 (2)gb - (2)Seagate Barracudas 250GB SATA3.0 Striped - Lian Li Case with a 550 Antec P/S. Installed Windows XP Pro in 7 mins. But the thing that blew me away is after I patched Windows and installed all my programs...the blue indicater that scrolls across when Windows is loading doesnt even get across twice. I was blown away and when I saw that. Another thing is that all the games look more incredible then ever. Cheers.

Look Elsewhere
- Pros: Lots of features, SLI. Looks great on paper.
- Cons: Flaky memory support, bios issues. The quality of this board is not in line with its cost.
- Other Thoughts: After using this board for a year, I find I really can't recommend it. Bottom line: you can find a better board, even one with SLI, for a LOT less money.
died after 11 months
- Pros: The overclocking with the E6700 was decent and the motherboard was compatable with the xms2 ram. We used it as a DAW for 11 months with ecouraging results.
- Cons: It died. No POST, or beeps, and this item (as of 10/5/07) is only returnable for 30 days. i expected more for something that costs this price from asus...
- Other Thoughts: everyone should care abour return policies...
SATA Optical Drive Question
- Pros: Does this MB support a SATA DVD drive? I thought all SATA was the same from what I can tell it has to be a HDD. Is that correct?
