5 out of 5 eggsBrought my computer back to life

Pros: After my mobo was zapped by lightning, this board brought my comp back to life. The transition was easy and painless.

Cons: I had to re-validate Windows XP after installation because of a "significant hardware change." Not a big deal, but I had to call Microsoft to complete the validation.

Other Thoughts: This board is an excellent choice for AGP computers that need a desperate upgrade. Otherwise, I would hold out for PCI-Express.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst Asus ...... And Pleased

Pros: Everything PnP right off. No BIOS issues. Matter of fact, it had the latest revision already on it.Shipping was tremendous, save for my tower, it was a 1/2 day late for the 3 day UPS. But it was in good shape, so I'll wait another 1/2 day to get it in one piece. If you're not a clocker this is a great board for the money. Not many settings for clocking up CPU.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My internet connection fell off after 3 day's of being up. Don't think it's the board though. ISP is doing a lot of maintaince in my area. My set up, Pentium 3.0 800 FSB with HT<> 2 GB of corsair XMS RAM<> NVIDIA Geforce FX 5200 PCI card (Not PCI Express) This set up ran Q3 like a dream on MP till my connection went south. Can't wait to try an AGP card in!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Easy to set up, plenty of features, stable

Cons: somewhat outated

Other Thoughts: I originally started out with a P4S533-VM, after about five RMAs I gave up and switched to this board, never even considered replacing it since. On-brd graphic and sound are descent, all on-board features are currently supported by Windows Vista (drivers even install automatically)

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Open Box Special!

Pros: Everything you need to get started is built in except the RAM and CPU, plus you can buy real add-on cards as upgrades later. Even supports the Prescotts, Dual-Channel PC3200 RAM, and SATA drives too! Plenty of USB 2.0 Ports built in. Excellent starter board or 2nd system board for the price.

Cons: No Gigabit on the NIC like the Deluxe model has. SP/DIF Digital Audio Outputs are also built in but the Optical and Coaxial connectors are on an "optional" accessory plate that's sold separately. :( No On-Board FireWire either.

Other Thoughts: Have been very happily using the P4P800-E Deluxe and Prescott 2.8 CPU I bought 2 yrs ago from Newegg and recently ended up with a spare "Mobile P4-M" chip from upgrading my laptop's cpu so when I spotted this board with the right socket, so many built-in features, on-board video to get me started AND an AGP Slot for later I figured why not. Noticed the tons of negative reviews and umpteen BIOS updates from ASUS for it after I placed the order but I've been using ASUS since the 486DX33 days and have always been happy with their Intel chipset products. Bought this one as an "Open Box" and got lucky as it showed up obviously opened before but still in the ASUS Box with the manual, Driver CD, all the standard cabling (SATA Included), and the case backplate too, YAY! Came with the latest BIOS but right out the box it wouldn't retain BIOS settings or Time&Date after shutdown or reboot. A new CMOS battery solved that problem right away and so far I'm totally happy with this little board.

2 out of 5 eggsNice...for a week

Pros: Easy to set up, just plug and play, bios took tare of themselves

Cons: AGP controller crashed after a week. Newegg won't RMA so you have to deal with ASUS customer support...good luck

Other Thoughts: If it wasn't for the AGP problem I would give it a 10

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent older motherboard

Pros: -My computer runs faster after the orginal motherboard was replaced with this one.
-Plenty of connectors on the back and for the front of the computer.
-Supports every Intel Socket 478 processor.
-Supports PC2100, PC2700 and PC3200 DDR RAM types.
-BIOS was already using the latest version.
-Absolutely no problems with date and time.
-Replaceable computer startup/POST logo.

Cons: -Unfortunately, no RAID.
-BIOS Setup complains about the CPU fan spinning too slow (1400 RPM Cooler Master heatsink/fan combo to keep things quiet. CPU temp is still 40C).

Other Thoughts: This Asus motherboard is very affordable for the quality you receive. It supports all Intel Socket 478 processors and several different types of RAM. There are two SATA ports and two PATA ports. The floppy port is useless to me. USB ports are plentiful. The BIOS Setup has many tweakable options and seems very advanced so far. RAID is not an option however.

I used this motherboard to replace the motherboard that came with my Sony VAIO computer. With the same speed processor and same amount of RAM, my computer is way faster. Even startup time is decreased by 10 seconds.

Excellent features and quality from Asus, as always. This is the perfect motherboard to breathe new life into old standards in a Micro ATX case.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board for the money...Very reliable

Pros: This board is great if used for internet surfing, email sending, document writing and most other modern low intensity applications. I would not use it for newer games or video editing unless I had an add-on video card and Pentium Processor.

Cons: None, if your expectations are realistic.

Other Thoughts: This board is old technology, but is well supported, very reliable and affordable. If you want the fastest spec machine around you will have to spend a little money instead of over clocking a Celeron, until toasty hot, on this board.

1 out of 5 eggsdate and time bad!!! avoid

Pros: its a decent motherboard, it has a few pros, but nothing major worth mentioning

Cons: only 3 expansion slots for extra cards.....the date and time kept reseting 800 years in advance, which in turn would crash programs and ruin saved games!!!! bad!!!! tried replacing battery, updating bios, and everything that might help...nothing. however, asus has a 3 year warranty, so im gonna try to get them to replace it!!
