5 out of 5 eggsJust for hahas

Pros: I bought this board from newegg i think 10 years ago... and its still running with an athlon x2 4400. Despite the deprecated features like agp SATA1 or the Northbridge, this system rocked for a while but has been running solid for a decade so hats off to asus and amd for the durability.

Cons: You wouldnt be buying one of these today. At the time there were no cons I could see other than the impending pci-x standard but i went all in on the agp for the time.

Other Thoughts: I havent built a custom gaming rig in almost a decade, since the BF1942 days... I might just do that...

5 out of 5 eggsYay!!

Pros: Fast, Stable, better than nForce 3 ULTRA.

Cons: Set the Voltages and Latencies manually in the BIOS for best performance.

Other Thoughts: Third board was a huge success. I thought this board was slower but realized I hadn't set all the Latencies in BIOS. Now I'm running my virus-scan, on IM, Alt-Tabbed out of CS:S, and IMing people. Werks good, REAL good. :)

5 out of 5 eggsWe'll see...

Comments: First board worked almost flawlessly, but the Promise Controller would constantly corrupt my Data... Second board had issue's with everything, but it wasn't from Newegg, so I'm hoping my Third board will be a major success. All in all it's a very solid VIA board.

5 out of 5 eggsHIGH END USER

Comments: This board is not for the faint of heart. Patience is the word when dealing with the issues of this board. Everything works so far and had one issue concerning any Radeon based video card. Overclocking became a issue with this board, couldn't get past 2.14 on a 3000+ processor. I tried a X800XL video card and the video got worse. Was not stable for any length of time. My 9800pro would work until I overclocked my processor and it got very unstable. Broke down and bought 6600GT card and everything just got better. Make sure you have the newest bios or you will run into the SATA drivers which couln't find my hard drives. Overall this is not a board for the beginner.

4 out of 5 eggs1 minor issue

Comments: This would have gotten a 5 had it not been for the dead on-board LAN. Every thing about this board rockz and rockz it hard.....except the one i got had a faulty RJ-45 jack, it wouldn't recognize that a cable was plugged into it. This apparently is a problem that other peole are having too (check the Asus forums). But if you have a 3rd party NIC card you are all set and shouldn't worry ( i had to buy one (xx$) cause the tech suport guys basically told me it was hopeless and to buy one).

So far i've OC'd this thing with no troubles and everything else works flawlessy.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent board, somce compatability issues.

Comments: This is a pretty decent board for the price, good extras and great documentation. I've hit some incompatability issues with my ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB card. Apparently the Via 4in1 drivers are a fan of the 9800 Series of GPUs. Right now I've reduced the AGP bandwidth to 4X to deal with the issue, but there are some fixes, including using the generic Windows XP SP 2 AGP drivers. Depsite the problems getting the graphics card to work, I've been fairly happy with the board. (More disappointed at my failure to research the issue first ;) ). So, yeah, if you have an NVidia card, definitely for you. If you have an ATI card, do some reading first.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: this mobo rocks...feature laden and modern, but still sports the AGP slot. good go between if you can't afford an SLI setup yet, or don't want to waste your FX5700 ultra. This is a luxury board, the BIOS is very flexible (you can change the bios splash screen, and the audio prompts for the POST errors). Also has firewire!
