5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Built and affordable gaming machine for a friend with this board, has been going strong for over 5yrs

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: no onboard video but that shouldnt be an issue if your building it for gaming

5 out of 5 eggsStill working.

Pros: This board has been paired with an AMD Athlon 64 3700+ and X2 4200+ over the years and sits in my closet as a media server. 6 YEARS later, it's still going. Sure, the chipset fan needed replacing, but just look at it.

Anyways, I just wanted to say that this was the first motherboard that I bought for my first build when I was 15, now I'm 23, and it's still going.

Cons: Well, the chipset fan needed replacing, but that's about it.

Oh, and DDR RAM is hard to find. But that's not really a knock against the board as DDR was still kinda relevant back in '05.

Other Thoughts: Even back then, Asus had the same quality that they do now.

I did however like the extras that came with this board, rather than what came with my newest Asus board, a Crosshair V, but again, not really a knock on this.

3 out of 5 eggs6 Months Later

Pros: Board still stable, was easy to install, and runs pretty good, except...

Cons: 2 Major cons: One of the USB ports on the rear does not always work. My Logitech USB mouse won't load at Windows boot unless it is in a certain port. Secondly, the motherboard fan is starting to go out 6 months after buying the motherboard. ASUS forums suggest paying ten dollars for the Deluxe or Premium heatsink/heat pipe.

Other Thoughts: Frankly, if I had known the chip fan was so apt to go out, I would have bought the Premium or Deluxe version of this motherboard. However, after reading the ASUS forums, this appears to be somewhat common for this particular model of motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Fast, clean, efficiant, not too much $, socket 939. Now that Core 2 Duo came out, you can get sweet deals on socket 939 motherboards and processors.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I don't know why specs whise a same motherboard would cost 20 dollars more than another. I can't find a difference.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo

Pros: Very good price (has gone up by 15% since i purchased 2-3 months ago), good features...SAta2 support, SLI, etc. etc. In my opinion this board isnt lacking anything as compared to the slightly more expensive deluxe and premium models.

Cons: If your new, you could have some problems with this board. i believe depending on what lot your particular board comes from, your bios and/or nforce 4 drivers may need to be updated, or could cause issues. get drivers from web. Also, I have to manually set all my ram timings, and up the voltage slightly to get my corsair twinx memory to run at the specified speed and latency, although i think this is common for amd64 mobos. i can envision inexperienced users purchasing some high $$ ram to go on this board and getting significantly diminished performance, because they dont realize this.

Other Thoughts: I have no complaints. This board, X2 3800+ oc'd to 2400 (using zalman 9500), 2g Corsair Twinx XMS PC3200, XFX 7600gt XXX, 2 Seagate 7200.10 320g SATAII hd's in striped array. This system plays all my games really well, and it all was pretty cheap actually.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: Works very well! No issues with boot-up or installation! I installed an Athlon 64 X2 3800+. It works beautifully, no need to flash BIOS, even though the documentation and details say nothing about X2's. Great software lets you overclock without messing with BIOS.

Cons: Audio pins are a little hard to get to and plug in.

Other Thoughts: Great value, excellent quality as usual from ASUS!

5 out of 5 eggsLearn To Read

Pros: For the guy who wrote "Pros: Easy hardware install
Cons: WOW! where to start! A few days ago i posted this was a good Mobo, disregard that and listen to my words of wisdom. DONT BUY THIS MOBO NO MATTER WHAT OTHER POSTS SAY. I got past the initial set-up, I actually saw the windows desktop (which is more than some people can manage) and I thought to myself "wow, my MB actually works". WRONG! I let my PC just run for a while, this was the first PC I built, so i wanted to make sure everything was ok. I let this bad boy run overnight, no issues. The next day i think to myself "ok, time to download all my stuff and put this baby to use". 31% of the way into my NVIDIA drivers download BAM!!! Corrupt file warning. So i tried this download and about 10 other different downloads ALL OF THEM WERE CORRUPT. Some of you will probably say that im a newb builder so i messed things up, but trust me, if you plan on ever downloading ANYTHING, including windows updates, stay away from this motherboard"

Cons: Apparently you did not read previous posts before giving your negative review. The reason your downloads stop at 33% is because you installed NvFirewall. This firewall is junk, and is what was causing your problems. If you spent the time to read other posts you would have realized this. I purchased this mother board in January and have nothing but good things to say about it. You are a NOOB builder, and do not post ignorant comments when you failed to do research on them.

Other Thoughts: I posted a positive review on this board back in January also, feel free to read it. (I hate seeing people post about something they could have spent 5 minutes researching and resolved their issue)

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great motherboard. Took care of all the basics, but no fluff. I can't see any need to upgrade soon. Very informative manual as well. Perfect for any first time builders.

Cons: The headphone jack was busted when I got it. But that was easily fixed by getting a sound card.

Other Thoughts: All the features I could ask for at a reasonable price.
