1 out of 5 eggsHad 2 of these boards

Pros: NewEgg's the best when it comes to delivery and Customer Service.

I bought this board because of the AGP slot, and I had a very high end AGP video card.

Cons: The first board died a little over 4 months later. I bought a new one to replace it and called ASUS to see if it was still under warrantee. It was not. The 2nd board died yesterday. I decided move on from ASUS boards until they get there act straightened out.

Other Thoughts: I'm going back to an MSI board. I've put together many machines for myself and others, without incident. These A8V boards are simply horrible. The fact the ASUS has done nothing to remedy my situation means I will avoid their products both personally and professionally.

5 out of 5 eggsStill working

Pros: Great board for any compatable 939 AMD chip. Have 2 one with a 3500+ and the other with a X2 4200+, no problems what so ever.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Here are my set-ups: Athlon X2 4200+ 2Gb ram, HIS X1600 Pro 512, 300gb 16mb cache maxtor HDD. And: Athlon 64 3500+ OC to 2.7Ghz, 1Gb ram, 9600XT. Just a little side note, dont let your brother put in a mobo in a new case, especially when he doesnt put the brass pin down first, lol. Arcing and smoke is never good.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless

Pros: I wanted a small, extensible MB, socket 939 with an AGP slot and a PCI Express (since I had recently got a new, great AGP card and didn't want to trash it but wanted to be able to move on next year to PCIE) I haven't bothered to upgrade the bios and I probably will soon but it was pretty much plug-n-play. Everything clicked perfectly; powered it up and no worries.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It's a tight board (yep, that's micro ATX), even on the ASUS web site they tell you that you need to install the memory before the graphics card because the memory locks bump into AGP card. But it's no big deal.

1 out of 5 eggsNever work.

Pros: Price is reasonable

Cons: Board never worked with the system. I finally got the other new motherboard with different brand name to test with the other hardware. It runs perfect.

Other Thoughts: So, I finally decided to get the refund.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible onboard video

Pros: Price low, Asus always good.

Cons: However, video performance is terrible. Screen run very slow while I was watching DVD. Don't even think about to play game with onboard video. You'll get crazy!

Other Thoughts: No more thoughts, just return and get the other board instead.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board, trick to get working in Linux

Pros: Small, has all the slots I would ever really need, onboard audio, LAN, SATA, etc.

Also, (undocumented) it DOES support the registered ECC memory that I have.

Cons: This new VIA chipset is not supported in Linux officially until the 2.6.18 kernel is released, which means the SATA controller is not recognised at all. Patches are available for 2.6.17, 16 and 15 but it can be a pain. Also, sound support is added in 2.6.17.

Other Thoughts: Once it is set up and Linux is running on it it makes a GREAT MythTV system.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat all-around mobo

Pros: Takes any amd cpu there is and runs very nicely as long as you update you BIOS AND AMD CPU BIOS. no problems whatso ever.

Cons: for me none

Other Thoughts: Very good for a agp system, as long as you keep thing up to date you will have a very nice set-up garunteed. I am running a athlon 64 3500+ with 2 gig ram and is FAST or just a single core no matter what the other reviewers say
