1 out of 5 eggsTerrible motherboard

Pros: -Low cost

-Has both AGP and PCI-E

-Has adequate specs that seemed to fit my needs (on paper, atleast)

Cons: -Lasted 10 only months

-It fried my CPU when it died

-The sound quality on the onboard sound is bad. Also, the sound output is VERY low, so I have to turn my speakers way up, which amplifies the static to a very annoying level. Un-usable with analog wireless headphones due to the insane amount of static. Installing a PCI soundcard fixed (by avoiding) this issue.

-With the same exact setup, my FPS dropped from 720 to 280 in Diablo II, mainly due to the PCI-E x4 cap.

-Has random problems...examples: it gives me an error message "Overclocking failed" about once a month even when I use correct and/or default settings (tried both). A few times, it has told me the CPU is overheated when in actuality the CPU is room temperature (first boot of the day).

Other Thoughts: Although this board works, it's definatly much worse than average. Don't buy it unless it's nessicary.

3 out of 5 eggsit works for now

Pros: first of all this was the first pc i built, pros are that it booted first try and it still works without any problems.been working now for at least 3 months running 3 days non stop at a time with only 5-10 mn shutdowns, sometimes 4 days ,for a while only shutdown maybe 20 mn in a week.

Cons: the pci x 4 is sorta useless i think and i don't know why it has PCI X 4 ,SO FORGET ABOUT A PCIX16 GRAPHICS CARD FOR THIS BOARD. SECOND IS THE PENTIUM D ISSUES ,THAT BEING YOU HAVE TO UPDATE THE NEW BIOS for the 9xxx PD SERIES.

Other Thoughts: I didnt want to fry a $150 mobo so $58 was worth the risk.the setup is this board ,intel p4 500 something 2.66ghz,kingston dual channel 512x2 =1GB,WD 160 GB HD, LG DVD/CD BURNER , FX5500 AGP graphics card and a very cheap 380 watt psu, gaming is ok not that great though,Q4,COD2,NFS MW all ran well,FEAR not so well ,Battlefield2 worked well also,FEAR worked not so well which i beleive is cause the cheap gfx card. All n all I have run the hell out of this thing in 3 months

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Gaming Board

Pros: Runs Pentium D 805 with DDR400
memory

Cons: I tried an EVGA 256mb 6800XT PCI-E, a BFG Ti4200 64mb AGP and an Asus AGP 6800XT 128mb. 3DMark05 crashed no matter what CPU speed or GPU I used. Single channel or dual channel made no difference. The board I got was garbage. I think it fried my SCSI raid adapter. I was expecting good quality from Asus
but this board wasn't up to par. Overclocking options were sparce
and my D 805 could only get to about 3.0Ghz using DDR400 and this board. My cheap ECS board with DDR2 runs the same processor at 3.5Ghz. I am returning this clunker back to newegg for a refund. Very dissapointed.

Other Thoughts: I am going to try the ASRock 775Dual-880Pro which is cheaper.

3 out of 5 eggsSo-so product...

Pros: backwards compatibility allowing stepped upgrades, decent performance overall, reasonably thought out board layout.

Cons: 1 of 2 boards, failed within 6 months - 1st using the gigabit port would lock it up, then other ports stopped working, finally entire board dead.

Other Thoughts: The "16x" pci-e being limited to 4x electrically = bummer, and the board failing this soon (along with other reviewers thoughts) = bad. Just keep in mind you might need to use that RMA procedure with ASUS. ;-)

4 out of 5 eggsIts a Transition Board

Pros: Its a transition board if you have the DDR ram, have the AGP vid card and want to slide an 805 on something to re-use them, then the choices are few and it could be worse

Cons: Asus, being Asus takes a try or two at BIOS then gives up, so if the board works marginally dont expect more, even if they are still building them. An 805 will be recognized with the stock BIOS and updated BIOS dont seem to make things much better no CPU voltage adjust etc., so what you can get is maybe their 20% overclock, but ram will likely have to be set to auto, doesnt want to accept manual configurations and still boot.

Its an AMBI Bios and a mess but experience will likely help finding a way through their inconsistancy in terms. Also BIOS version numbers and dates on the web site, on the file, then on the board, dont match, so you better remember what you put on, then again, thats not a criticism, thats Asus.

Other Thoughts: If you want a real machine, build a real machine dont expect wonders from a board designed to re-use older parts on the cheap. But it can do it on the cheap just fine except again asynchronious Buss means you could up the CPU, assuming at some point they give you CPU voltage control. All told performs overclocked 20% at about 85% of an Athlon 4400DC overclocked to 2450 so for 300.00 less, which is more than I expected. So while it aint great, it aint bad.

2 out of 5 eggsLame...

Pros: cheap, good for non OC'ing gamming.

Cons: Cant over clock, they said u could, they lie (everything becomes unstable w/ the minimal of overclocking. I put in a 3ghz HT P4 prescott cant get it past 3.06ghz w/o it crashing during or after boot , if im lucky to get xp to boot. If you want to get cas 2 speed ram, dont,

Other Thoughts: The Asus tech site is very slow, and response time is worst. Im looking for a better, more clock worthy board, that suports agp8x cards,4gigs ram, 4pci slots, and my processor but its hard.
