3 out of 5 eggsWorth the effort

Pros: Great over clocking options, and nearly anything you could want on a motherboard. Brainless RAID setup.

Cons: Took me forever to get this board running. Had to swap both power supply, and graphics as it was incompatable with them. Once that was resolved, I still had to install Windows with one stick memory in third slot, and a standard PCI gfx card. I have not had so much trouble in more than ten years building!

Other Thoughts: Once I got it up and running, it has been rock solid. OC'd a Pentium 805D to 3.8ghz with plenty room to go higher! Can't rate this board any higher however due to the effort it took to get it running, and Asus's crummy tech support. Word of advice: you want help, hiot their forums.

4 out of 5 eggsupdate

Pros: lots of options in the bios for overclocking. has good range of cpu,s it supports. the layout is very good

Cons: having said that YOU have to download the latest bios, the marvell controller does not work don't go nuts trying it will not work

Other Thoughts: this mobo overclock's everything from the get go. go to the web site and you can get a lot of very good info to help you. Also this mobo will NOT NOT SUPPORT CONOE.

3 out of 5 eggsNo CORE 2 DUO Support

Pros: If you are planning on using Pentium D for the next several years, this is a great board with lots of features that make it worth the price. It was an easy installation with all the parts and very good documentation.

Cons: As late as June '06, this board was listed by Asus as supporting "dual core Pentium D" AND "next generation 65nm CPU". I purchased this so I could upgrade from Pentium D to the next generation Core 2 Duo after it was released. Asus now says they will not support Core 2 Duo. So, NO "next generation 65nm CPU" support as Asus lists on their site. Big disappointment.

Other Thoughts: Other than the fact that you will never be able to upgrade your processor if you're running Pentium D, it's a really nice board. For the price, I'd get something else that allows you to upgrade the CPU to Core 2 Duo.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: a lot of options and easy to install. I build machines all the time. Asus boards are what i pick 80% of the time, because they work.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Many options, 7.1 onboard sound, extra connectors for back panel for USB and IEEE.

Cons: pain in the *** to get windows installed.

Other Thoughts: the windows xp install disk *must* have sp2 on it. i found this out the hard way, during windows installation i would get a BSOD on the "starting windows" section. it wouldnt even get to the hard drive partion part. after downloading sp2 and a program to streamline it into the cd and completing the streamlining(not as hard as i thought) it went through installation without a problem. awesome board!!!

3 out of 5 eggsUhg...

Pros: Looks cool?

Cons: Major pain in the behind to install. I had to end up clearing CMOS and going through lot's of hoops to get this sucker to boot with the bare necessities installed. After I have it a bit longer I may change my review, but so far it's been a headache.

5 out of 5 eggsRev. Comming for Core2

Pros: Great board all around. This version does NOT do non-ES Core2's, but stay tuned as Rev.2's are being stamped out. Look for the power reg area to change:

See the "Core2"!?

Also, SLI is possible now! nVidia driver issue...not Asus/Intel.

Cons: Had some issues with a RAID controller, but latest BIOS fixed it.

Other Thoughts: Running it since it first came out and loving it. The DH offers little more than Core2 now and heatpipes which I don't like or even use anyway. I'm getting another once the VRM11 updated models hit the shelves.

5 out of 5 eggsumm, this board is NOT Core2 ready

Pros: To the last poster. Look again, this board is not currently supported and likely won't be because of physical VRM requirements.

Cons: Not Core2 compatible. :( Skip this board if you want to be able to upgrade to Core2 in a few months!! Check out the WS or DH.

Other Thoughts: Great board otherwise.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard

Pros: Conroe support and Intel Quad core support for next year. Go to Intels site or Asus' site and you can find all the info about support for the future.

Cons: Download times from Asus' website are 7-10 kb/s. Sad.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you get the latest BIOS, Chipset, etc. versions from Asus' site.

3 out of 5 eggsAsus P5WD2-E Premier

Pros: * Fast
* Easy to setup
* Flexible
* Onboard audio better then most

Cons: * Pricey
* Must have WinXP with SP2 update built in to the disk to load - Can't install WinXP and then update it with SP2
* If you are planning to use IDE hard drives, plan on using only one with your CD/DVD drive as ASUS hasn't fixed the problems with onboard Marvell disk controller yet - hopefully its fixable with a future BIOS update

Other Thoughts: For the price, this board should be perfect and it isn't.
