1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Cheap price. Decent number of expansion slots.

Cons: I was one of the unlucky ones who received a board that would not display any video. Tried two different graphics cards in the board, tried clearing the CMOS settings, nothing. Of course without any on-board video, I couldn't try different BIOS settings... what freaking MoBo nowadays doesn't have on-board video?! I had to buy a slightly better, newer, more expensive board at Fry's. Installed it in the system, and the video came up right away.

I have yet to call Fry's and ask for my "restocking fee" and shipping charges back. I'll update this post when I do. Nobody should have to lose money on this company's shoddy products (in reference to ECS, not Newegg).

Pros: Cheap, supports Intel Duo processors, stable.

Cons: Not reliable, poor support, inaccurate manual

Other Thoughts: I bought this board roughly 20 months ago. I've had problems booting with the board and tried to upgrade the bios. The board died right away. I sent it back for replacement (had to pay shipping myself) and got another one with the same boot problem. This time I didn't upgrade the Bios and found a workaround. A few days ago my board stopped working (which also seems like a boot issue.) Technical support was poor and they made me do zillion irrelevant things. Then they tried to sell me another bios. I told them that I have warranty and I'm now waiting for their reply. Just do yourself a favor and choose a different board.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's a decent board with dual core (and limited quad-core) support, especially for it's price. Enough USB ports to plug-in most everything, high-def audio, and support for 8GB of RAM.
Also, fully Vista-compatible.

Cons: A fair chunk of the CPUs are only supported with a flash of the BIOS (not for the squeamish), which is Phoenix/AWARD (not gamer friendly). No integrated graphics for the low-end crowd. Single PATA channel (through the Jmicron chip) needs a bit of configuration on some RPM-based Linux distros to get it recognized. English manual is more engrish than english

Other Thoughts: Overall, a decent setup. Here's Mine: ECS P965T-A, Pentium Dual-core E2180, 1GB DDR2-800 (soon to be 2GB), eVGA nVidia GeForce 7200GS, 400GB total HDD space, Lite-on DH-20A4P DVD+/-RW, reused FDD, Asus WL-138G WLAN, TrendNet serial modem (coming soon), Windows XP MCE (pushing for Vista Ultimate x64 edition), 380W PSU, and Raidmaster case

4 out of 5 eggsGood Budget Board

Pros: It's stable, cheap, fast, versatile and runs well for me.

Cons: No SATA RAID, documentation could be better.

Other Thoughts: Those who have the no POST issue should double check the the clear CMOS jumper. Mine did not post at first, I checked the jumper, then checked the connections.

5 out of 5 eggsGood, cheap MOBO

Pros: Once I figured out how to connect the power to the CPU correctly, it has run smoothly and with no problems.

Cons: At first I thought they had sent a faulty mobo, but I just wasn't used to the new chipset technology. Glad I kept it though. The CPU power supply was confusing. Onboard audio is decent, but has difficulty with cd/dvd playback.

Other Thoughts: I am anxious to try the ATI crossfire connection, I haven't done that yet. I hope it works. The ECS website and the ATI site seem to show this as compatible with the PCIexpress 16 times...

1 out of 5 eggsNo posting, bad documentation

Pros: Never got a chance to use it, so really, no pros.

Cons: Like many, it would not even post for me. The BIOS reset jumper wasn't an issue for me, but still, it would not post and tried every way that I could think of to get it to work, from trying different video cards to having no RAM, no CPU, CPU with no RAM, anything to get it to beep and complain. Nothing. Returning for a refund and buying an Intel motherboard.

Other Thoughts: I had high hopes and this board promised a lot. Congrats to those who got it to work. But, that's what you get when trying to stay on the cheap, you get what you pay for.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't bother

Pros: None

Cons: Motherboard would not post. I tried switching the cmos jumper, different RAM, different CPU, three GPU's with no luck. Their tech support is horrid. I would suggest spending a few extra bucks and buying from a company who has a better reputation.

5 out of 5 eggsDONT BUY

Pros: Not going there.

Cons: Wont post, doesn't even make a beep noise. The hard drive light just stays on solid. I told myself 10 years ago when I bought my last ECS board that I wouldn't buy them again, I should have remembered, two ECS boards two DOA's. Now I have to spend $10.50 plus shipping to send this piece back.

2 out of 5 eggsWaiste of time and money

Pros: I am able to run my Pentium D 805 at 3.4 GHZ with this board.

Cons: After I bought this board, the product discription was changed to say PCI-E 8x only. 8x is equivalent AGP. This board is not worth the materials it's made of.

Other Thoughts: Never again ECS!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Rush2112,

Like others, our product description/specification is modified for accuracy when we mistakenly post something that is not right from time to time. Errors do happen and we try our best to correct it on time.

Sincerely,
ECS
