The DFI LANParty UT nF4 Ultra-D, like other members of DFI's vaunted LANParty series motherboards, was built for the ultimate gamers and overclockers. While most manufacturers provide opportunities for tweaking options, there are few that really cater their option set to allow serious changes by the aggressive end user. This board is going to make serious waves. The board's layout makes connections a snap, and it's easy to find all the sockets and connectors for ease of installation and modification.
Powered by NVIDIA's acclaimed nForce4 Ultra chipset and featuring support for AMD's powerful lineup of Socket 939 processors and DDR400 dual channel memory, DFI's peerless workmanship ensures that this glow-in-the-blacklight, exceedingly modifiable motherboard has the top-class stability and extreme overclockability for the raw power desired by today's gamers. Tweaking is made simple with the extensive BIOS setting options. Other advanced features include 4 SATA connectors with RAID support, 8-channel onboard audio, dual Gigabyte LAN ports and FireWire IEEE1394a support.

Excellent Motherboard!
- Pros: - Extremely stable
- Great cooling - Great overclocking - Tons of features - No installation problems - Great RAID functions
- Cons: - RAM is close to the CPU
- Uses a lot of power - No case sticker
- Other Thoughts: As you can see, my cons are very minor. The RAM being close to the CPU is only a problem if you have a large heatsink and fan. This has been a wonderful motherboard. By far one of the best I have ever used. I had no problems installing anything. Worked great with my Corsair XMS RAM. And as always, NewEgg shipping was blazing fast.
My System: AMD Athlon X2 4400+ DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D 2GB Corsair XMS Audigy 2 ZS eVGA 7800GTX Xion 600 Watt PSU Thermalright XP-120 w/ 120mm Fan 2X WD Raptor 74GB
Excellent! But read up!
- Pros: Provided you follow the recommended system specs on DFI's forum ("DFI Street") this is probably the best consumer-level motherboard for the Opteron 1-series line of processors. It is configurable almost to a fault (not recommended to the inexperienced or those unwilling to learn). The board uses top-notch components (all Japanese capacitors, for instance).
- Cons: The recommended system specs for this board are absolutely insane! You *must* have a native 24-pin power connector. Yhe m/b has *four* separate power inputs (1 24-pin, 1 P4, 1 12V and 1 5V). You *must* only use high-quality RAM. You *should* set IDE devices to CS (cable select) or you may get seemingly random BSOD's.
Then there are the intallation requirements: DO NOT use the NVidia IDE drivers. DO NOT use the NVidia firewall. Use only recommended BIOS versions. Use only recommended NVidia drivers (6.67 last time I checked). There are so many DO's and DO NOT's that it might be easy to overlook something.
- Other Thoughts: If you're not afraid of reading up before you jump in, if you're willing to pay for quality components (and really, you should anyway), you will be rewarded with an amazingly solid system, or if you wish, an amazingly FAST o/c'd system. With quality DDR500 sticks you can have the fastest system on the block. Just be sure to keep everything cooled adequately, and head over to DFI Street for installation/tweaking instructions (the forum is moderated by ACTUAL DFI employees-another reason I went with DFI: actual customer service people you can interact with that KNOW what they're talking about).

Excellent Buy
- Pros: That's board is great. If you are looking for something versatile and lots of options this is for you.
- Cons: None that are realle big, just placement of motherboard fan and RAM slots. Power Consumption.
- Other Thoughts: I have an Athlon 64 3700+, 1 gig RAM, two hard drive IDE, two CD-burners IDE, and a SATA DVD-Burner. I also run WIndows Pro 64 and this thing flys. Have a larger Modular Power supply from Hiper which made things a lot easier for installation and making everything look good.
Great mobo!
- Pros: Good board. works great with my parts. Had little problems with it.
- Cons: There is only ONE issue with this board. IF U HAVE A BIG VIDEO CARD AVOID THIS MOTHERBOARD! My X1950XTX card blocks out the onboard fan in the PCI Express slot 1. I had to keep it a bit loose for the fan to spin. It may increase temp in pc.
Windows Vista x64
- Pros: Great board for any OS other than Vista x64, not sure about the x86 version.
- Cons: with Vista x64 the USB Ports will not recognize ANY USB 2.0 ports. I recomend a nice ASUS Board I purchaed the AN32-SLI Deluxe from here for just a few dollars more and it came with a much more intense stock cooling system for the opboard chipsets
- Other Thoughts: Wouldn't purchase this board again If i Had known about these issues, The manufacturer gives no support on bios updates. BUY ASUS!
