4 out of 5 eggsNot for newbies

Pros: I like the layout, plenty of room on first PCI-X slot for oversize coolers on vid card. Memory and processor placement. 8 Sata connections, dual gig lan, HD audio(very clear, no background noise at all)

Cons: Very picky on memory, no Sata 2 connections, Northbridge chipset runs warm.

Other Thoughts: Requires "TLC" during setup and configuration. This board is capable of nice overclocks. I took my Athlon64 4000+ to 3.0ghz stable and tested using this board. This board is not for the impatient. Otherwise a good buy.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible board

Pros: Dual LAN. Back Panel Legacy Hardware GONE. Onboard Power/Reset switches. Heatsinked Mosfets. Great design for Power cabling and RAM location. Solid Board.

Cons: 1 IEEE 1394 and 1 USB2.0 External Connectors. No Other Cons Whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board for myself to replace an older board. Very nice. Besides the above Pros and Cons I would also say the space between the primary PCI-E slot and the PCI-Ex1 slot is great. Perfect those with an extra large video card. The Northbridge also does not interfere because of its low profile. The northbridge fan is super quiet. There are also numerous 3 pin fan connectors. The audio module is easily installed and is the best Onboard sound I have ever heard. Simply incredible with no background noise at all. This board and cabling looks pretty cool inside a case with a side panel. I thought the yellow might look a little cheesy but it really doesn't. Including documentation is great. Includes an 8x4 DFI Lanparty Bumper Sticker(or Side Panel Sticker). Installed easily using a 3800+, 2 GB ADATA RAM, a pair of x1300s, two SATAII 250GB Drives, and a Samsung LS DVD Burner. No problems installing Windows XP Pro.

4 out of 5 eggsA little difficult to work with.

Pros: The board has alot of features and everything finally worked. For $xx I can't complain.

Cons: I can't totally blame the board but because I was reusing some old parts but I still think the board is more difficult than my other DFI's.

Other Thoughts: Just have a little more patience. Other than that I'm glad I picked it up and I think the savings was worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard!

Pros: Very Fast LAN, this board coupled with an ATI X1300 video card really cooks. The 4+4 Sata arrangement is ideal for windows. The ATI Sata is Mirrored, which is what you want with an OS and paging file present.

For massive amounts of other data the Silicon Image 3114 is nice for RAID 5 protection.

Cons: Don't install the Silicon Image utility until after installing Win 2000 and all the service packs. Anything using IE 6.1 might have that problem. The Microsoft JAVA VM will conflict with the utility. Wait until you got a good install of Sun Java 5 in place. The Silicon image raid utility is Java based.

Instruction manual could be a lot better, but engineering wise this is a lot of bang for the buck. Its screams with an Athlon 64 X2 4400. This makes a very nice (and colorful) server motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Some of the reviews are misleading.

Best to install the OS on the ATI SATA RAID (Mirored or not mirrored). These are sata 1-4.

Sata 5-8 are Silicon Image Raid 0-5. I've never had any silicon Image raid controller work perfectly so You don't want your OS on them. Plus paging is very inefficient on RAID 5. But if you got a terabyte of data you want to preserve its probably good for that.

I don't know if you need to disable the external cache as an earlier reviewed advised during initial install, I did just to be safe, then turned it back on once Windows was working.

My ATI Radeon X1300 driver was be a pain to get working, it seemed to want to stick on the default VGA driver, until I insisted it use another driver, which then found the right one.

Board seems very sensitive to memory. I used dual channel Corsair TwinX memory (2X512) DDR 400 and it works fine. My kingston sticks one worked, one did not. Might be a dual channel memory issue. GET GOOD MEMORY TO USE

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great.

Pros: Looks great, works great, Love that there is only one extra power connector on the board as opposed to the DFI nF4 series. Recognized my Opteron 180 right away

Cons: Chipset fan is a bit loud for a HTPC but this isn't a board designed to be quiet.

Other Thoughts: Lacks SATA3.0 but who cares and who will notice. also thanks to the review by "Blister" with his 4 steps really helped things out a lot.

3 out of 5 eggs64bit support?

Pros: Lots of nice features extras - if you plan on 32bit Windows it's a winner in almost all categories.

Cons: If you plan on 64bit Windows... think again, SATA bus driver support sucks, & if you can't get it installed yer stuck... Linux works fine though. Also, if you want 3Gb SATA, spend the extra $xx on the (other) board & not the card.

4 out of 5 eggsRead Manuel carefully

Pros: Very good for money,
That Said RTM before buying this, and read it carefully!
RAM problems are usaly solved by using only slot 3 and 4 not like manuel says, it says might use 1 and 2!
Also to solve phantom power up use the bottom network port, like to never figured that one out, DFI never has!

Cons: misleading manuel
not for easily irratated or one of you custermers!
resell this mobo in a 1,000 plus custom build and it will bite you!

Other Thoughts: one of the few things I haven’t had to rma when buying from this vendor!
RTM before giving up!

Also dfi street gone try pcper fourms for support

5 out of 5 eggsIf you have a lot of free time

Pros: This thing is blazing fast. The lan on this thing blew past both my other motherboards doubled even tripled download speed. My fps went up by 40. So many bios features it will keep you busy for hours.

Cons: This board is not for the begginer. But with these 4 tips it should not be a problem.
1.Set the ram in the 2 orange slots
2. Turn off cpu external cache, 3. Set the correct ram voltage, 4. make sure you have init display set to pci-e. After you install windows turn the cpu external cache back on. All done in bios.

Other Thoughts: It took me 2 days to set up my motherboard. If i would of figured all of this out with in the first 20 minutes install to finish would of been less than an hour. One more thing download the newest driver pack from ATi, dont try to use the driver disc provided.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Lots of features, 8.1 audio, great for overclocking.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Don't listen to the people who said that they can't get it working. They just don't know what they are doing.
