Very good motherboard
- Pros: So far there are no problems with the config in the BIOS just do what c_haasl stated about the RAM and you will be fine.
- Cons: None yet.
- Other Thoughts: c_haasl did hit the nail on the head about moveing the RAM in 2 and 4 then it will clock to the DDR 400 (PC3200) for the board.
Great Product All Around!
- Pros: I've owned several of the DFI LANPARTY boards and loved them all. Great selection of boards to get exactly what you need and all at a reasonable price. Quality is excellent. These board are well thought out and it shows in layout, functionality, durability, and dependability. Great for overclocking and all around tweaking for best performance. LANPARTYs are THE experts' line of boards.
- Cons: Some may find the location of the chipset fan to be too near their pci-e video card. Note that the fan is very short and does not protrude above the pci-e slot. If your video card's back edge does not go below the edge of the port, you will be fine.
- Other Thoughts: If you are having trouble with this board (things like trouble installing/loading Windows, stability, crashing while playing games, please note the following:
For some reason, and I have called DFI and asked them about this with no answer ever given, the LANPARTY boards do not like to dual-channel memory in slots 1 and 3. If you are having troubles, try and move the memory modules to slots 2 and 4. Despite what you may read otherwhere, Corsair and Corsair ValueSelect RAM works great with these boards. Also, DO NOT install the IDE driver that is on the utilities CD. It isn't needed and causes BSODs in WinXP. One more thing; the chipset fan can get loud after time. Removing the fan and lubricating it helps keep it quiet again for months, however, I recommend this heatsink (item number: N82E16835109131) for these boards, as they will fit between the video card and just about any heatsink, even the Zalmans which can be very wide
Awesome Board
- Pros: Excellent board. Great for overclocking. I really like the uncoventional layout of the board. Tons of options in bios.
- Cons: Hard to set up. Bios had to be flashed from the get-go. Had to install XP twice. First time it didn't like it, but no problem on second try.
- Other Thoughts: Any review saying something bad about this board is inaccurate. This is an awesome board! It is somewhat difficult to get it started, but once you get all the updated software, it's smooth sailing. I have heard about incompatibility with Mem, but had no problem with OCZ Gold DDR500.
