5 out of 5 eggsCalm Down its the BIOS

Pros: Ok at first it looked like a flop board. Anything over 222 HT bus frequency would crash the board. I dont give up easily aftrt some research I discovered the T Series Bios is compatible with this board. I used Winflasher and updated to the latest 2006 TForce 4 SLI BIOS. Cleared the problems right up including the LAN issue. Im running a Athlon 64 3000+ Venice at 267 HT 2.4 GHz satble as can be. SLI works great with 2 Albatron 7600GS 256MB Cards. I overclocked them and they are just the slightest bit slower than the 7900GT in my 2.6GHZ Dual Core Opteron 165 rig. Update the Bios and you will be fine.

Cons: Too much tinkering to get it to work. I was about to give up on this board but Im glad I found the fix. The chipset fan is very cheap and Im sure I will be replacing it.

Other Thoughts: Ram compatibility was very good after the Bios update. I started with a gig of Elixir DDR 400 and then put in 2 GB of kingston Value ram PC3200.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board..Great Manufacturer

Pros: Bought Refurbished for a great price. If you aren't aware, refurb means probably all you'll get is the board which is what I got. Installed and worked fine right out of the box. I emailed Biostar and they sent me a SLI Bridge and I/O Panel in 5 days. SLI works great.

Cons: It was Refurb so I can find none for what I expected.

Other Thoughts: This is the 23rd Biostar Mobo I've used and have never had a problem. Excellent Customer Service.

1 out of 5 eggsDont buy this board

Pros: it has 4 gig memory cap. and sli,

Cons: well where to start...when first booting up with my patriot memory i kept getting restrats, and weird DISK ERRORS. i tried updating the bios and that didnt fix it. i read reviews on the ram, and i know thats not the issue. the issue is that this board is very pickey on the ram you use. i put in a 512 mb geil and it boots up ok, now im formating hdd and hopefully i will be able to play my games without getting the blue screen of death!

Other Thoughts: i have purchased many biostar mobo's in the past, and have been very happy with them...i am not happy with this board!

3 out of 5 eggsOkay for single core, but do NOT use with X2!!!!!

Pros: Works perfectly fine with a single core. Is a very well laid out motherboard as well, making it easy to fit plenty of addon cards.

Cons: Is not Athlon64 X2 compatible AND USB2.0 comptatible. You have to boot your operating system and tell it to use only one core or disable USB2.0 (and use only 1.1) or else it will periodically blue screen after a certain amount of usage from a USB device.

Other Thoughts: There is a problem with the Athlon64 X2 cpu and USB2. From what I've gathered, this is a problem for all chipsets except with the nForce4 SLI X16 which this is not. Last I checked, only MSI and DFI have released BIOS updates to fix the problem, but Biostar has not yet and I wouldn't put money on it happening anythime soon.

So if you require USB2.0 and a X2, avoid this board and buy board with the nForce4 X16 chipset or a DFI or MSI.

Works perfectly and runs very cool with a single core!

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It worked when I first got it.

Cons: The first one I got the PCI slots, the extra usb ports and the onboard sound did not work. I RMAed that and got a second one where everything worked at first. After several months the fan on the south bridge started to get louder and louder and my computer would boot successfully less ans less and after about 9 months the MB died.

2 out of 5 eggsOnboard Lan Problem

Pros: Stable for minor overclocking.

Cons: Onboard LAN doesn't work. Tried every driver, still doesn't work.
I installed a nic and when I changed the Media type to 100 full it would disappear. Post is slow.

4 out of 5 eggsThe best budget SLI board

Pros: My board shipped with the 425 BIOS, and I quickly updated it to the latest C21 BIOS (why the change in revision nomenclature, I don't know, but you have to go to Biostar USA's ftp site to find it).
This board is rock solid and I have NO issues with significant overclocking under the current BIOS.

Cons: The bad news is that (and I have tested this), nTune switches to nTune Lite from BIOS revision 614 and later due to lack of BIOS support- this is clearly an attempt to promote their TForce series products, but I have heard that you can use a TForce BIOS on this board with great effect.

Other Thoughts: All in all, this is a great board, even though it has no firewire, but if you use Audigy 2/Audigy 4/X-Fi soundcards, you probably have firewire anyway.
Just pay good attention to what BIOS revision you are using. When you first get the board, backup its BIOS immediatly, as I can't actually find revision 425 anywhere on the internet, should you decide this is the one you want to use.
The other good news is that this board has built in BIOS update and recovery code, so play around with your BIOS all you want- chances are, no matter what you do, you won't end up having to RMA it due to a goof.

5 out of 5 eggsBiostar still a tough board!

Pros: Awesome board. SLI for under $xxx! you can't go wrong with that.

Cons: Motherboard manual is kinda thin on explanations. Par for all motherboard manufacturers I guess.

Other Thoughts: Don't use spread spectrum unless you have RF issues. This can slow things down in a basic gamebox pc. The spread spectrum is so the board can meet European Electronic Emissions standards.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Great board for the price with a lot of features. I don't know why people say this is not for the overclocking crowd. The software even includes an overclocking utility that can run from within windows and I didn't even have to upgrade my bios. I'm using G.Skill memory which is working great and sata 2g/s Samsung drives.

Cons: The drivers included with the board won't install unless you have at least sp1 installed on XP and at least sp3 for 2000. Considering one of those drivers is for the onboard ethernet, you end up in a catch 22. I had to dig out an old network card just to download the sp in order to install the drivers, to switch back to the onboard ethernet... What a pain.

Other Thoughts: Other than the issue listed in the cons, this board has been perfect.
